Good food but personally not the best I've or most authentic as they describe, but the service let it down more than anything, order was taken and not checked and then we ended up with incorrect starters so had to wait, then the wrong mains were offered to us so clearly there was a lack of communication somewhere. Price was good for the food that you got, overall I wouldn't be in a rush to go back but considering there isn't many options in Newport it's a solid option

The food is good however true authentic Indian perhaps not. Being harsh maybe . However it's not as chilli hot as other places for some of the traditional dishes

It was a wednesday evening so I'd hardly expect it to be heaving, but very nice all-round. The lamb biryani was excellent!

1st time in on a Friday evening: Guinness was a good temperature with a perfect draw. Food was outstanding! Prompt service from happy staff. Definitely recommended and will be back.

First time eating here, really tasty food, good amount of meat in the curry, staff were good, food brought out quickly and hot, great atmosphere, keema naan definitely not the best, overall a really nice meal and would go back.

Will 100% be coming back, we are local and this was somehow our first time trying it. I saw it voted as one of the top Indians in Shropshire and it lives up to the name. Best curry we have had. Service was also excellent and fast.

Best tandoori mix grill ever. For £12 each. Incredible so tender and flavour was amazing. Would of paid £20 lol. Beers are great on the side as well.

Came for a mixed grill with the boys. Decent mixed grill, we went for a mixture of mixed grill, paneer, curries, naan and chips. I would recommend getting the large mixed grill between 4 people and medium for 2/3 people. Good service and good food.

Nice place but small and busy, you need to book as Newport tends to shut down early We enjoyed our meal although I little expensive, don't expect n India style restaurant, more modern traditional pub.

Probably one of the nicest curries I have had in a long time. We did book a table even though it was just for two of us, but glad we did as it was rather busy. Easy to do online on their website. Choose date, time etc. There is a car park at the back and if you can't get on their, a public cad park just behind that. Really nice warm welcome by a younger lad. Gave us menus and came by not long after for drinks order. Lovely lady came and took our order and I asked for recommendations. She was really helpful, as I wanted to try something different but similar to what I liked. We ended up going for the wild card Mango Chicken Makhani and a Chicken Tikka Masala. Both had pilau rice, shared a naan bread and we opted for the loaded tikka chips. Food arrived and it was delicious! Portions sizes were just right. Both had two drinks. I'm currently pregnant so only had soft drinks but my partner had two pints of ale. Came to just over £50. Honestly worth every penny. We will even drive to collect a takeaway next time we fancy a curry, rather than trying someone more local. Will definitely be back!

Nice clean place to have some good indian food. Nothing too spicy so good for the kids. They can do chips and other kids food if not into Indian food. Good portion size and freshly made.

My new favourite place for a fab curry! Chicken and keema special was delicious and everything friends had looked tasty too. Even if not wanting s full meal, masala chips are a perfect beer snack.

What a delightful pub/ restaurant. Great Indian dishes had both depth of flavour and enough heat to appreciate the spices. My wife and I had totally different food yet were equally excellent. Service was also very impressive despite how busy it was. Definitely a step up for Newport and worthy of a return visit soon.

Superb food and the staff are polite and courteous, nothing is to much trouble for them, A well stocked bar with excellent beers and ales available my favourite place to eat in town.

Having recently moved to Newport, we had heard good things about the Shakespeare Inn. We visited with a group 8 and we all enjoyed the excellent food and drink. I had the chicken tikka masala, egg fried rice and garlic naan which was all delicious. I tried a friend’s Nepalese Chips and I’ll be ordering some of them next time I visit. Great service.

Have been a few times to the "Shake" for a curry and a drink. The food is great, I can recommend the chicken madras. The staff have always been excellent, they are all young, friendly, and nothing is too much trouble and the service is great👍 there is also a lady called Gina who is very helpful especially when trying to book a table. Thank you to all the staff, hope to visit again very soon.

Very Unsatisfied. We were so eager to try the Brunch, which we did on the Saturday of the Jubilee. We sat at a table right in front of the Bar because we had a dog. We alway eat breakfast at the Fallow Field. Wow! When we arrive they welcomed us were ordered our food but there was not cheese on my scrambled eggs after they agreed to do this. Then we were so excited that we booked the same table for the Thursday night. When we arrive we were told we could not have that table because there were two of us but I booked the table for 4. They took it upon themselves that there were only two of us. They wanted to sit us right in front of the toilet and traffic. We left. Then as we were almost at home they called to say they found a table of four. We said no sorry we are never going back there again. We will go to the Hop n Vine. Thank you.

Absolutely delicious food (honestly one of the best curries we've ever had). Staff were friendly and attentive and the venue is really comfortable. You might pay a little more than the other generic local curry places but it's 100% worth it.

Recommended by the hotel reception as the best for Indian food. Hotel reception were kind enough to book a table for us and it was only seven mins away from the Hotel by car. The car driver was on the dry so I could drink. Nice and cosy inside and the barman pointed out our table in an L shaped area. He brought the menu and I gave my drinks order and the driver was on sparkling water. I ordered a double measure as UK measures of spirit are much smaller than Irish. The coke came from a dispenser and he gave a large glass of it to go with the short. This guy serving us was on the ball however I could not say the same for the other two behind the bar as I ordered another drink from the female bar person and I had to go up after several mins to remind her. However the guy that served our first drinks took over and brought my drink over to the table. The other two behind the bar were more interested in flirting with each other than doing their job. We had chosen our food from the menu and it arrived. We set about eating as we were hungry. At this stage it was 8pm and as I only had a burger at midday, I was nearly ready to chew the beer mat when the food arrived. WOW. Fabulous. Chicken cooked and spiced to perfection which was soon demolished. Waiting for the main course three Indian guys came in and sat in the corner table. They ordered beer and started going through the menu. From this I knew we were in a good restaurant. Why ? There were five Indian restaurants in the town and they chose the one we were enjoying. Well it got better for our mains arrived and I was ready for another drink😃 Well guys,the food was just fantastic and the drinks situation had got better as the good barman kept an eye on me and served promptly. I ended up getting 5 drinks and the driver had two waters. The bill 56 pounds. The only downside! I would have had a couple more drinks but they ran out of Bacardi. 😟 Would never happen in an Irish pub. Ah well, I suppose we can blame it on Brexit. 😂😂😂 Rating. 5 Star on food, but 3 on bar service..

Visiting the area today and my husband and I called in for a drink initially, and although very quiet as just before 5pm, felt it had a pleasant vibe and so stayed to order food. A bit disappointed that the plates were put on the table cold but the food arrived promptly and was warm enough, just. It was very tasty and so quite satisfied but when we came to pay the bill were very annoyed to find we had been charged an additional £6 for ordering half and half chips and rice!. The waitress did NOT point out this additional charge when ordering and effectively we incurred this charge just because the same amount of chips and rice were shared into two bowls. Totally ridiculous and unacceptable which completely spoilt the visit as this is a clear rip off! Beware! 👎

I had vegetable samosa for starters and didn't like the filo pastry and the vegetable and paneer curry was not good frozen veg was used yuk won't be going there again
