Excellent Restaaurant. Friendly staff, great Manager. Vegetarian dishes very good. Ivwould highly recommend a visit. Meal tonight ( Sat) was exceptionally good.

Very disappointed, the few other times I’ve had a take away here it has been very good. The lamb madras was watery and tasteless. The rice seemed old and hard. The garlic naan didn’t seem fresh and was tough. It made me wonder if they had a buffet on that day because that is what it tasted like….tired, end of the day buffet food. My local restaurant the Amina closed down some time ago and I’m on the search for a good local curry house to replace it. It’s proving difficult to find.

Have visited on several occasions, food and service is always great, excellent value for money too. Highly reccomend

Just had a really lovely meal, service was quick and food was really tasty. Price was really good too! We were the only people in there so it was quiet, but that is exactly what we wanted. Been out many times to other places and haven't been able to talk because of the noise. Will definitely be back soon!

went for dinner dissapointed - food was very bland - chicken tikka lacking in flavour as were most of the dishes. waiter was ok but the manager or owner was on the phone all the time talking or rowing with someone loudly. only people in there and it was not very warm. expensive for what it was. have eat in many indian places and this was average if that -

One waiter was giving us good service. When we arived shown to Table no telling us about the Buffet as to when we go.up Not very talkative. Lacked Atmosphere. Tho I must say good price .

We went there to attend a birthday party. The hall is big enough and the food was amazing.

Firstly, and most importantly, the food at this restaurant was delicious. The portion sizes were great (not too much and not too little) and everything tasted fresh. Upon arrival (approx 2130) there were two other tables, and they'd finished their meals and so left not long after my arrival. It seemed, based on the lack of atmosphere (no music playing), the rushed service (being asked if we were done with a visibly unfinished plate/drinks) and them starting to hoover midway though the main course that the proprietors wanted to close asap. It made the overall experience average. Might be worth noting this was a Thursday, that the advertised closing time is 2300 and myself and friend were ushered out of the door just after 2230. Overall, I would probably revisit the restaurant in the hope that this was just a one off experience

Worst curry I have ever had, at least 6 of the party of 30+ plus had stomach ache or had a. Desperate need for the toilet before and after getting home. Would never go there again. I don’t know where they get their hygiene rating from.

at the entrance there was a sign that read "buffet all you can eat on Saturday" but the owner sat us down informing us, annoyed, that the buffet was over and that we would have to order from the menu

Went for the Buffet @ £10.95 a head on Sunday evening. No issue as a 'walk in' customer as there were a few tables available. Restaurant is clean, tidy with attentive staff. Food selection was great with 4 mild curried dishes (one was vegetarian) & tandoori chicken pieces. 2 types of rice, plain naan bread, Onion bajee and samosas. Plenty to eat and you can always go up for more if you have a little more room. The dishes available do vary so might be worth a phone ahead to see what's available. Overall it's very good value and a great alternative to a take away unless you want to eat a specific dish you particularly like.

2.5 out of 5 stars. Management is not great, only had one good employee who gave us money off at the end of the meal cause of our experience. Went for the Sunday buffet, it’s alright for its money. Only about 8 dishes to choose from, limited on choice. Two of which dishes being rice and 3 of them being a curry. All buffet food was average and nothing special. The highlight of the food was honestly the popadoms and chutney, but £6 for three singular popadoms just was diabolical. The drinks were okay, coke was flat and warm unfortunately. Swiftly moving on to the deserts, is where the low rating stems from. We paid about £5.00 for a strawberry cheesecake and it came rock solid and was like biting into a rock. Fortunately after our waiter saw our dissatisfaction when we were trying to smash into it with a spoon he offered to take it off our bill. His manager seemed extremely angry at him for offering the money off, and made us feel very unwelcome and uncomfortable that this is how the staff are treated. To sum it up, food was average, don’t order the popadoms cause it’ll cost you your wife and kids.

My local. Loads of garlic. Food is delicious. Only thing is, I never seem to get a free popadum or two. Wouldn't go amiss. But I do like this gaff.

Was originally looking at something else for food but they needed us to book a table so we had a look for other restaurants and found this one. They happily sat our table of 4 and one guy, cant remember his name, conversed with us for a while before he took our orders and once we had paid. The other staff were lovely too but dont do what we did. We ordered sooooo much food due to being really hungry skipping meals before this 🤣🤣🤣 we could have easily fed 6

Great food - all four of us enjoyed what we ordered. Lovely friendly staff, and good service. However, like so many establishments at the moment, it lacks 'atmosphere'. Hope business picks up soon....

I've never heard of the Shagor until a friend suggested it for lunch. The restaurant was empty at lunch time, notwithstanding, the food was exceptional...I mean really good. I ordered fish curry and two lamb dishes, rice and poppadoms. Its a little expensive, but I would certainly recommend it.

The Sunday buffet is perfectly adequate and priced fairly. A range of dishes to please a crowd but nothing mind blowing. Restaurant is spacious with good air conditioning.

Nice food, served warm for a party of over 50 people. So, well done! It was family buffet lunch party and the hosting skills were great. The dine-in section is at the right hand side of the restaurant and seperate from the party hall which is at the back left part. Nice to have this seperation as it allows a full party going without interrupting the regular dine-in. Only reason for not giving a five star is that the fixtures are now in need of an upgrade.

All in all, it is great value for money and will definitely come back. I recommend the place for fans of Indian cuisine who would like to eat more than small portion of it. I have tried their Sunday buffet menu and it was delicious. Being a fan of not-too-spicy Indian food, Shagor chicken curry is one of the best I have ever had especially with their freshly baked Tandoori bread. My husband tried the meat curry and he loved it as well. One thing I think needs to look into was the rice. In an Indian restaurant one expects to enjoy basmati rice used to create the delicious Indian rice dishes but unfortunately this was not the case, even though the rice offered was nonetheless delicious.

Great restaurant, friendly staff, very patient and friendly with the kids. The Sunday buffet is well worth a visit. Great value!

Best Indian restaurant I have been to in a very very long time, food was excellent and tasty, price was reasonable, staff were brilliant, service brilliant, well deserved mini break in Southend after working as a key worker throughout the pandemic, and this restaurant topped up a brilliant meal. First outing since lockdown, and enjoyed it thoroughly, thanks to all the staff at Shagor tandoori.

Always welcomed here by staff. The Sunday buffet is good value for money as you can have as many servings as you want. Prior to the buffet you are offered poppadoms and a selection of sauces. 2 buffets and 2 pints of Cobra was just over £27.00

Worst Indian meal I have ever had!! Prawn Puri had no flavour, Lamb Tikka was dry, tough and chewy, Sag Aloo was dry and mushy, Peshwari Nan was like a doughy sponge. A most unpleasant take-away food experience from a restaurant. If this is the standard of their food then I strongly advise avoiding the place. Was a complete waste of money. Most of the reviews on their website must be fake as the food I received was downright diabolical.

Nice & clean with friendly staff, brighter than many Indian restaurants which is a plus. Nice tasty food. Definitely a place to try.

I would have rated this zero star if the option was there. This food is an insult to Indian cuisine. Honestly the worst curry I've ever had in my life. Nothing positive to say. It's more like a soup than a curry. So much water and zero flavour. I've had more flavour and a nicer taste from a tin of the cheapest curry out of the supermarkets. Don't waste your money here people, it's absoultlty disgusting.

We ordered as my partners birthday dinner trying to make his lockdown birthday a bit happier! Okay so to begin with the food was late, I don’t normally mind this when receiving good quality food however I have never seen so much oil on a curry before.. Opened the lid and the 2 curry's we orderd was just glistening with oil. Spent 5 minutes draining as much as I could out of them, didn't look no different was disgusting!! So we dished up and started, my curry and my other half's was the most tastless curry I have ever had, no spice or flavour at all. we would of been better of going to asda and getting a jar, would have saved us a lot of money as well. We only ate a few mouthfuls each and even that was enough to make us both very ill the next day. I very disappointing end to a birthday. We also posted a review on just eat to which has been removed within the same day, this makes sense as to why the page only shows positive reviews. Do not waste your money guys

Haven't been for a few years but am so pleased to go again tonight to celebrate my friend at works special birthday..The food and service was excellent, culminating in a perfect evening with my friends at work..

I went here with my friend. The service and food were fantastic. The manager offered us a delightful brandy on the house for no other reason than he remembered my friend from a previous visit. An outstanding experience that I cannot recommend highly enough. The courtesy alone was unexpected but so sincere. Excellent.

Better the it looks from outside, half the sign is missing and kind of looks closed down. Service is pretty decent food is pretty good and prices are pretty good. A decent meal nothing was bad but nothing was groundbreaking either.

We've always had reasonable meal there apart from tonight the starter was ok although the Samosa was smaller than before however when we got the main dish it was absolutely owful my dish was watery bland full of onions but no flavour whatsoever kept adding salt and pepper to try to make it tasty . the frightening thing is it was the chief especialtey .my partner's curry wasn't much better hot but no flavour again really watery ... very disappointing meal I think boil in the bag would have been tastier ... needless to say we will not be going back there again

Were nice in restaurant till we brought the takeaway home and found a curry was missing. We called them up and they were rude and said we hasn't ordered another but we had. Then he hung up on us!! Never going back.

Sub par. Far too much garlic and the Order was incorrect when we got home. The owner hounds you for an awkward conversation too. Oh I hate it when strangers have a forced conversation with you....

Asked for half portion of chicken tikka masala. Along with chicken tikka pilau rice naan bread, was told no we dont do half portion, I was very annoyed my wife and I got up and left. We have been regular customers for years.

Ordered a takeaway from this place lastnight and cannot believe the customer service. We ordered mains of chicken korma and chicken tikka jalfrezi. When the order arrived we found it was a vegetable korma instead. Fair enough we thought, we all make mistakes. So I called up and spoke to whoever answered the phone. The guy was rude, aggressive in manner and had a raised tone suggesting that we had ordered it wrong when we knew we hadn’t. He argued that it would be half hour for a replacement... we asked for a new rice to go with it as the old one would be cold by the time it got here - to which he refused! Despite it being their mistake!!! We stated that we would give back the wrong item because it wasn’t like we were trying it on, although we were made to feel like that. When the order did arrive, the delivery driver insisted on constantly holding the buzzer down waking 2 babies up before handing us the replacement with a smirk on his face saying “ENJOY”. We suspect that our food was tampered with due to the mannerisms and lack of any sincerity or apology, so we ended up throwing it away. The delivery laughed as he walked away. Reading some of the other reviews below, I am certainly inclined to agree - the customer service is absolutely terrible and these staff members clearly cannot be trusted to behave professionally. Never again!

Very reasonably priced Sunday buffet and the food was all really very good!

Do not go here! It’s awful. I contracted food poisoning from here last night and have been ill all morning. Also, food was not very nice, drinks were watered down, waiters were rude and inattentive and even looked put out when someone asked for cutlery and it’s not good value for money. If I could put a zero star rating , I would!
