The Seven Stars at Marsh Baldon in South Oxfordshire

This is our 4th visit food is always amazing And service is fantastic too. The Curry nights - not to be missed Chefs are exceptional cooking all food in house. Thank you all at Seven Stars.

A lovely warm welcome and a nice menu. We found it very good value. The falafel starter was really delicious, with a light delicate houmous and a standout salad garnish with pomegranate seeds and almond slivers. I have to be gluten free and the staff were knowledgeable and flexible. Sadly there is no separate fryer so I couldn’t have the tasty looking triple cooked chips with my burger. Hubbie loved his, and they stayed hot and a gluten burger bun was served. The burgers did the job but the cheese was slightly claggy if I was to pick a teeny fault, not smoothly melted. The mango crème brûlée came to the table with flames dancing over and caramelising the brown sugar, much to my surprise and delight! Not a big taste of mango but the berries on the side gave the necessary acid cut through. The menu is nicely balanced, the food is very good and we enjoyed our meal. Thank you .

Lovely atmosphere, very pleasant staff & very good food.

We had our little one’s first birthday party here and i can’t fault a single thing. We are so glad we chose Seven stars for this very special occasion. From start till finish, the team was so supportive and oh my god, the food 🥰 We loved the food and so did our guests. Even the pickiest of eaters came for seconds and everyone had a great time. They customised the menu on our request and it was fantastic. Sunit, Namit and infact the entire staff were so kind and helpful. A charming destination perfect for relaxed outings and celebrating life’s special moments in style.

We really enjoyed our visit to The Seven Stars today. There were nine of us, one wheelchair user and when booking ahead they explain the access arrangements, which is helpful. The food was beautiful and the service excellent. We all agreed we would happily return.

Our second visit since changing hands and dissapointing both times. We visit between 5-6pm weekday. The owner was on the phone pacing the bar and restaurant area on speakerphone talking to a relation about knee replacement surgery. We are served short pints. The end of the bar and THREE other tables have laptops, invoices and box files all over them. Two managers are having a seated meeting with a kitchen worker in the dining area at one of the paperwork tables. We go to the garden to get away from them working. When I went back inside to get a sauce for my meal because nobody asked me, they then jump up to ask if they can help. Too late. As we leave I tell them how unprofessional it is to have all the tables covered in their paperwork and have meetings in the restaurant area rather than checking on the paying customer? They were angry with me. The man got up and approached and his answer was that when it's not busy it doesn't matter. If it gets busy they'll move their stuff. They were unwilling to see that it's unprofessional and he said "whatever, goodbye" and turned his back. I said to the girl who was more receptive that it's a bad first impression and also that they should acknowledge criticism if it's fair as it's all learning for improvement. She turned her back like the man. They surely must have a room elsewhere in the whole building where they can work? I come to the pub to get away from looking at heaps of paperwork! It's a lovely pub with a great garden and potential to be special, the pub being owned by the village. The snacks we ordered were just standard Booker fare, olives, bread, pre-battered salt and pepper squid, average chips at pretty high prices. Nothing bad or exceptional. I would presume the Indian food at the weekend would be better. Such a shame as so much potential. Previous managers were fantastic and was a real food pub and attentive staff. We save money to go out and have a 'special' time. If I wanted to see paperwork heaps I'd have a cheap beer at home! I comment as I have worked in the industry for over 30 years now.

Dinner with friends was awesome! The food was delicious, the atmosphere was great, and the staff were super friendly and helpful. Their garden is beautiful with lots of space. I highly recommend it and definitely go back.

Had lunch here on Bank Holiday Monday and had a great experience - very friendly and welcoming staff, and excellent food. Good range of choices on the menu, all presented and cooked beautifully. Will definitely come again - thank you!

Let me say this with all honesty, they are absolutely worth seven stars out of 5. We had our kid's first birthday there, a party for 20-25 people and there wasn't one person who wasn't blown away by the food, location and the decor. The service is first class, massive kudos to the owners who are very accommodating and friendly. Let me come back to the food because it was so good that most of our guests asked us several times how did we even find this place to be serving such high quality and authentic Indian food. My review might not do justice to the experience we have had there, but we won't bother looking for any other venues for celebrations in the future. Keep doing the great work Namit, Sunit and the Seven Stars team!!!

We came across this delightful pub down a country lane andso booked a table for same evening. The landlord was most welcoming, his staff efficient and the atmosphere and surroundings there were really pleasing. I had the pea and asparagus risotto which was just fab, I could have eaten another dish full, my other half had a yummy burger and triple cooked chips. Sadly we live nearly 100 miles away as we would have dropped in for the real curry evenings.

A group of 12 for dinner. Everyone was delighted with the quality of the food - it was beautifully presented, delicious and very good value. The welcome and friendliness of the staff were superb. A great evening- thank you!

A really excellent meal at lunchtime, the lamb was cooked to perfection and the flavours wonderful. The service team couldn’t have been more helpful and the atmosphere was very relaxed.

We visited for the first time early April whilst staying at the small Caravan Club site in Marsh Baldon. We really enjoyed the beer and food and visited again. Lovely atmospehere, friendly welcome, tastey food well presented and great real ale! Looking forward to returning in the future. Mary & Ian

As Chairman of the Oxfordshire Region of The Jaguar Enthusiasts' Club, I arranged for any evening (last night) at the 7 Stars for some 22 of our Members, Friends and Partners. Between us we must have had every menu option and everyone seemed to enjoy themselves fully. Our Jaguars outside certainly made a statement and led to other patrons chatting to us and drinking more of the bar's varied offerings. The flaming brulee was a particular highlight and memory from the evening.

Traditional country pub serving a great selection of ales and excellent food. My lamb was very tasty and well presented and the apple crumble not over sweet with a delicious crunchy topping.

One of the best pubs I’ve been to in England. The food was sooo good. Definitely coming back next time I’m in Oxford!

Popped in here on Sunday on the off chance they would have room. Never been here before. Lovely place. Lovely people. Really welcoming. Service was brilliant. The smell from the kitchen was amazing. When the food came I was a very happy lady. Fabulous place. Decent prices. Would thoroughly recommend it. And I'll be coming back again in the very near future.

Updating the star rating to reflect the two subsequent visits after the Seven Stars was taken over by new management. I see the current team is doing well - and I'm glad to see it - but I have not been sufficiently inspired to return in the past year to dine there again. My 5 star rating was for the previous team under the Free Spirit Pubs group, who sold the Seven Stars in 2023. Luckily we happened to go on one of the last days of service in May and got to eat Pat's legendary roast dinners one more time. Those were good times.

Enjoyed a lovely dog walk around toots baldon and marsh baldon - followed by a superb lunch at the Seven Stars . Food was piping hot and delicious - I had the chicken supreme and my friend had the sea bream. Staff were friendly and attentive. Will definitely be going here again.

We went on Mothers Day 2025 Had a 3 course meal, all food was superb The staff are all very humble, extra kind and friendly. What a wonderful place to visit, lovely large garden too, will definitely visit there again. 5 stars all round.

We visit here maybe once a month as the service is great and really friendly and the food is always delicious. The normal pub menu has a great selection, all really well done - but our last visit was on a curry night and the thali (with the lamb curry) was just amazing, so we’ll definitely be going back for another curry night soon!

You always get a warm welcome from the front of house staff at The Seven Stars and this Thursday’s visit was no exception. We had a fantastic evening at the Thali Night this week. The surroundings were immaculately clean and the atmosphere cosy. Despite there being lots of diners, our food was served quickly and efficiently and it was a delight. The Thali platter was delicious - a variety of well-flavoured dishes served with rice, papadum, chutney, raita. It was a complete and very satisfying meal. We will definitely be back very soon.

Delicious food and excellent service. Very friendly. Our first time but will definitely be back. I had the prawn cocktail for starter and my husband had crab cakes. Then my daughter and I had the lamb, my husband the sea bream and my other daughter had the ceaser salad. All beautifully presented, delicious and just the right amount. Finished off with a wonderful crumble. All fabulous. The service was excellent as well and a very welcoming atmosphere. Thank you 😁

Visited with family for Sunday lunch today and will definitely be returning. The food was delicious and the portion size is very generous. Great selection of vegetables, crispy roast potatoes that were fluffy inside, homemade yorkshire pudding a plenty of gravy! The atmosphere was great, friendly and welcoming and the service was impeccable. We thoroughly enjoyed ourselves, thank you all 😊

Love this pub, recently visited on a Thursday Night and had the Indian Thalli with my Wife. Food was amazing service was better. The manager and his team can’t do enough for you. He told us they have been voted in the top 5 Oxfordshire pubs and based on our experience it’s easy to tell why. Would recommend this to all.

Booked for a family get together for 12 people, first visit to The Seven Stars and would definitely return, wonderful warm welcoming hosts, great service and Sunday Roast was absolutely delicious, generous portion sizes and food was beautifully cooked and presented, those that didn’t have Sunday Roast gave a big thumbs up for the fish and chips and cheeseburger. Dessert was equally delicious Sticky Toffee Pudding, Lotus Biscoff Cheesecake and Apple Crumble were the favourites. Thank you for a lovely lunch, thoroughly enjoyed by all.

The perfect picturesque pub, in a beautiful Oxfordshire village. There's always a warm welcome, with a real fire during the cooler months. And the food!!! Oh my goodness, the food is phenomenal. Today, I thoroughly enjoyed the beer battered haddock - unbelievably delicious; the batter in particular is truly exceptional! Well what a find this was. We were looking for a pub to stop at for a break from our drive home and remembered seeing a sign last time we passed. A quick break turned into to lunch. We had the prawn sandwich which was lovely,all the food we saw being served looked brilliant. We will be returning and I recommend visiting the Seven Stars if you are in the area. 10/10

Sunday roast dinner tasted to Indian too many spices not like a traditional roast

Myself and my party very much enjoyed our food, however we had an issue with our bill. When booking our table on the website, a voucher came up saying we could get 33% off our food. When we finish our meal and ask to use the voucher. We were informed we could not, as you were supposed to use it in the “comments” section of the booking. No where on the voucher does it say this. In fact, it says please inform your waiter of the voucher. So it caused a rather sour end of our enjoyable meal. I will attach a picture of the voucher.

We had the most amazing celebratory garden party and all down to Hamit and Sunit who provided a delicious indian banquet for our 50 guests. We had so many compliments...there was plenty of food and all cooked to perfection by chef Raja..... Thank you all so much Georgie and Paul x

Was very busy on a Sunday lunchtime, our mistake to arrive early for our table. Initially all seemed a bit chaotic and thought about leaving but once seated we were well looked after. The team here is caring and works very hard. Well kept beer, remember to pull a full pint guys :) Food tasty and nice presentation, only criticism there wasn’t any crackling with my roast pork. It’s modern on the inside - worth noting if you prefer ‘cosy’ old school country pubs but that’s a matter of personal taste. Would go back because it definitely deserves a second chance.

We were disappointed to be sat in the main bar area when we had booked the dining/barn area and they didn't seem to have a reservation system in place. The bar area was very brightly lit and loud. It did also take a long time for our drinks order to be taken (although it was very busy so its understandable) and we found out the menu online was out of date - so things didn't get off to a great start. The food was however delicious. Perfect portion sizes, flavours and presentation. Service also much improved as the place quietened down. I would certainly return but maybe not on a Saturday evening. We have been before in the day and it's dog friendly with a lovely garden so will perhaps try a lunch next time.

I had booked this place to celebrate my wife’s birthday in advance and the entire experience has been just mind blowing. Not only is the staff very friendly but the entire atmosphere along with great food is icing on the cake. I would highly recommend this place for anyone who just wants to have a great time irrespective of if they want to plan a party or just want to eat out. Unlike other places where it becomes really difficult to customise your food if you have any allergies, this place can make ensure they can customise your order so that you don’t miss out on great food.

Had a fantastic Sunday lunch with a large family group. Knowing how difficult Sunday lunches are in a restaurant environment we were very happy with what was served. We will be back soon.

Called in on the off chance on Saturday afternoon, wasn’t sure if they were still serving, fortunately they were Service was very good, we had fish and chips, the fish was wonderful, nice and crispy and tasty, the chips were a bit dry and tasteless For sweet I have the apple and pear crumble which was lovely, the other half had the lemon tart which was a bit of a disappointment Overall the food was good, but not quite great Nice spot to stop off at

Great food. Amazing . We ordered the lamb, Stuffed peppers with a side of chicken, Tsteak and the cod with crayfish. All were exceptional. Desert of the cheese board and the Tiramisu were equally as good as was the Chilean Chardonnay. Absolute great night / exceptional food

We had a meal here as we were staying nearby and after reading the reviews gave it a try. All the food we ordered was excellent. All very good quality and lovely flavours. For my main I had the lamb rump and it was excellent. So Nicely cooked. The sauces that went with it were perfect. The minted pea puree was perfectly balanced as the main didn't overpower anything. I was so impressed with this pub. The quality of the food was brilliant.

Exceptional Sunday Lunch . Variety of menu choice, quality of food and friendliness of serving staff were all a delight. Will look forward to visiting again.

We came for lunch on a weekday and the place was quite empty so very peaceful. It was sunny, the garden was very confortable so seat in. We had Burgers and with the triple cooked Chips and the sweet potatoes fries everything was excellent. I highly recomlend this place.

I love wandering into a country pub on Sunday for good food, and this place is just right. It's cosy, clean, and friendly. My partner loves a roast dinner, whereas I am happy with a burger. This is not always an option on a Sunday, so I'm always super pleased to have the choice. I think the burger here is one of the best burgers in Oxford. If you're looking for a nice pub with great food and atmosphere and a lovely garden too, then look no further! Thanks very much!

Delicious food in an unexpected place, we are here with the camper at Durham Leys Farm. Very friendly staff with a good menu within walking distance. To be repeated.

Came back again after a fabulous Sunday meal, this time around for Curry Night. Indian myself the food was prepared authentically and served on a Thali which is a great idea. Service was also very prompt and great buzzing atmosphere when we went for dinner. Already waiting for our next visit. Well done Seven Stars Team

Friendly staff! Very tasty, well portioned Sunday Lunch cooked to perfection with crispy on the outside and fluffy on the inside roast potatoes. Delivered hot even though restaurant was full and we were a party of 22. A family member also needed a gluten free meal and he was well catered for with his Sunday Roast.

Our first visit and we will definitely return! The food was delicious and the service and atmosphere was great.
