The Seven Stars in South Kesteven

We have family living in March, so they knew about this place but hadn't been there themselves. We went for lunch on a Thursday and hadn't booked in advance. There were a few other diners. We were greeted as soon as we walked in. Our drinks order was taken and quickly delivered to our table. We waited for our meals to arrive and the time taken meant that everything was being freshly cooked. Our party had the steak and chips, fish & chips and pie with mash & peas. Our sister had a sandwich. All the food served was enjoyed by everyone. The staff member was friendly and efficient. I'm sure our family will be visiting The Seven Stars again.

Visited with old school friends (we're in our 60s) two had steak, chips, Onion rings, tomato and mushroom with a Stilton sauce. One had scampi and chips and I asked for a Chicken and Bacon salad. Even though it wasn't listed on the menu, they did this for me! Very grateful as it meant I could also eat as weigh in at diet club is tomorrow!!! Everything was freshly cooked, tasty and inviting. We booked a table for Saturday at 6.30pm with our friends. We were early but that wasn't a problem, our table was ready . It was lovely a clean and we had a warm welcome . Our drink order was taken quickly . one of our friends is a vegetarian, but there were several meals that were on offer for him . I had the lasagne with chips , which was lovely , the chips are huge , tasted great . We all enjoyed our meals . The pubs was busy , the service very good . We will definately go again . Highly recommend

Visited for a working lunch , food was ok but not great , service was so slow , food had obviously been kept warm due to how long we waited and suffered for it. Desserts were out a tin and over microwaved.

Booked a table for two in this lovely venue. Heard good things about it, so decided to check it out for ourselves. We had Nacho’s as a shared started, and the Chicken Kebabs for main – great portions, delicious food, and a very comfortable and cosy atmosphere. The staff could not do enough, and I really could not fault our visit.

Had a lovely Sunday lunch here today. The food was delicious and we were served by the lovely Alicia Garner who was friendly, accommodating and welcoming. Would definitely recommend a visit here 😊😋

Pub was freezing cold but fireplace available to light. Food was minimal and poor quality , served luke warm. Raised views during and on paying my bill but was told that is the size of our servings. Nothing more left than to not return. Great shame as has so much potential

Sunday lunch experience. Starter was tasty and plentiful. Sunday lunch acceptable but certainly not the best in March. Runny gravy, vegetables served in the plate instead of separate serving bowls, so consequently ended up with veg on your plate you didn’t like and the gammon tasted more like heated up ham from the local butchers.

Had a pleasant Saturday lunch here with family. Friendly staff. Large portions - we had the bacon and cheese burger which was also served with 2 large onion rings and coleslaw. It was tasty and very filling. Only issue would be the cleanliness... I was sat opposite the kitchen door which was filthy and just a bit tired in places.

This spot is great for partying and charing to friends and family and also having beautiful cooked meals by the chef

This is a great pub restaurant. The staff couldn’t be more helpful. The venue itself is a lovely old place. There is a great selection of beers and sprits and the food is wonderful. Car park out back and outdoor seating. This is a Gem in March.

Excellent friendly staff. Lovely pub decor. Fantastic selection of Ales. Food was amazing. Went in on a Thursday lunch, several tables reserved but easily found a good un. Menu is basically pub fare, but all home cooked and portions are huge! I dare you to eat the mixed grill and a starter ! Desperate Dan would love that dish. Prices reasonable and excellent atmosphere. Rarely give 5 stars but this place sure deserves it.

Went for Sunday lunch and had a very poor experience. First on a 2pm reservation they had no beef left. An alternative of Turkey was chosen. Then, after waiting nearly an hour, it arrived and they had run out of cranberry! Then we needed to ask for some gravy to go with the dribble that was on the plate. We needed the liquid to help with the very dry crumble meat (no slices) The rest of the plate was barley edible. To top it all people arrived some 50 mins after us and got their dinner 10 mins after they sat down. They also have Amex stickers in the window but don't except it. Won't be going back.

What a fabulous place this is . Had a birthday meal for 22 people and the service and food was absolutely brilliant . The food all came out together and was delicious . The staff were great . They really looked after us and nothing was too much trouble . Couldn’t have asked for a better place to celebrate . Well done to the whole team at The Seven stars .

The appearance was a bit of a scare..But like the old saying don't judge a book. Just want to say excellent meal steak was the best tasting I had had in ages.service was friendly and top rate the young lady said she had only been serving there three days just want to say please keep her as she will be a valuable member of your team..Dessert was wonderful Thank you for a lovely Saturday evening meal

Being new to the area I popped in to this pub after reading all the information, using both sites Google and this, it deserved a visit. The ale was OK a small party for some lucky person in the corner, plenty of room to avoid, a good sized garden and a covered area out the back. Supported by young and old alike. We'll supported that's what the tenant needs. The food was served by pleasant and smiling staff. It was well priced and would return again as they also have a good sized car park. Near a school and a church for those who need Dutch courage for the children report's or marriage, which is worse? And should you require fuel a garage next door. Enjoy.

Me and my family went to this restaurant for dinner a few weeks ago and it was lovely, we had a curry each and two starters, they were all delicious! The staff there were so welcoming and kind, making sure we had everything we needed! The restaurant was very nice, clean and had air conditioning! This is an amazing place and would recommend it to everyone!

We had a school reunion for 22 people and the event was a great success. We pre-ordered the food and we were all seated at one table! They managed to very successfully cater for us and the food was extremely good.

Having just moved to the area, we booked for Sunday lunch on recommendation. A fair way out of town (Taxis evidently don't run on a Sunday!!!!) However worth the trip - probably the best Sunday lunch I've had in years! Lovely fluffy roasts, good quality...

Beer was nice , lovely garden to sit and relax in. However I did not feel very welcome , we did not get a overly friendly welcoming from the staff , and the locals were a bit snooty .

Delicious lunch. Lamb shank was so tender and the minty gravy was amazing. Hubby was pleased with his steak and ale pie and we shared an awesome chocolate brownie for pud. Spaced out tables and COVID safe. Very pretty setting with plenty of parking

Just a good local pub, decent priced fresh baguettes for lunch and a friendly welcome with attentive service. We really enjoyed our visit and will definitely be returning and would recommend. Will try a evening meal once lockdown is over.

Fantastic set up one way in the Pub with a lovely Beer Garden, Stopped for lunch which was lovely fresh . Tables all spaced out inside and out. Very nice lunch would return .

Just a short distance from home so thought we would take a stroll to try as heard refurbished. We were welcomed by the host Richard and were very impressed with the new decor. Had meal, old favourites for me prawn cocktail followed by gammon and vegetable lasagne for the boss. For pub grub I would say exceptional. No faults, everything perfect including the rain storm that meant we had to stay longer and I had to have more real ale. If you haven't been try it, well worth it.

What a great surprise to discover this lovely little pub on the edge of March Town. We decided to have lunch here for the first time and thoroughly enjoyed our visit. Friendly atmosphere, pleasant staff and a warm welcome when we arrived. We ordered our food and it was cooked to order and made from fresh. After Order was taken it took 45 minutes till food arrived, but well worth the wait. You could tell that it was not a microwave meal but that it was freshly prepared, hence the acceptable wait. Ample parking .

I would recommend this pub for lunch. The food is excellent quality, well cooked and very good value. The Stars has a warm, friendly atmosphere - ideal for family meals or as a couple. We will definitely be returning.

we were a party of 8 people 6 adults and 2 children there was a choice of roasts Beef, Pork, or Gammon we chose 2 Beef and the rest Pork the food was absolutely delicious and the service was fantastic nothing was too much trouble the only thing that could have made it better was if they had Lamb on the menu as it is one of our favourites.

6 of us went for a Christmas night out, eating from the Christmas menu. The food was nice enough, although I personally would have preferred to have the veg served up separately - which could have been done so easily for a party of our size. My beef was lovely and tender, although one person said hers was tough.The pub was a bit quiet, so lacking in atmosphere, so we created our own. The 2 girls serving were really nice and friendly.The Pub is a little way out of town, so if I went again it would be in the summer when I could walk down.

first time down stars for years very surprised wife and I both had a rib eye steak as they were two for £20 must say they were excellent dining room was full must have done over thirty meals. everything was nicely done and. only disappointment was dessert which was very small for price of over £5. will go again.

Just had lunch with a friend, good choice of food available for lunchtime; friendly service. The food arrived quite quickly even though there were several people in the pub. Will definitely return.

The food in this pub is superb, it'll give any restaurant a run for it's money! The girl behind the bar always has a smile on her face, we take our elderly father in law there all the time and she has even started calling him Grandad, which he loves!

Julie and Ken have turned this pub around. From being a pub with foul language, it is now a lovely friendly place with a welcoming atmosphere!

Delicious Sunday lunch. Staff very helpful with my dairy/gluten intolerance. They even had a d/g free dessert which is unheard of in most restaurants that I visit. I was able to have delicious chocolate cake for pudding. Would definitely recommend this pub/restaurant. Friends eating with us said they thoroughly enjoyed their roasts and puddings too.

I phoned before I visited the Seven Stars today and explained to the person who answered the phone I was vegan and wanted to book a table, table was booked. We arrived and sat at our table and ordered our drinks (2 ciders cost £8) I asked the staff to double check if the veg wellington had egg or milk and she went to check. She came back and said it does of course because it’s pastry (most pastry’s in 2018 are suitable for vegans including the just roll pastry’s) she then informed us that all the veg contains butter. We were left finishing drinks I now didn’t want and to be charged £8 for two ciders we didn’t even drink was an insult. Won’t visit again until this place becomes more vegan/allergy friendly!

Went here on the basis of Trip Advisor reviews. It was very nice, the pub has a good atmosphere and we were served quickly. The steak and ale pie was very good, as were the accompanying vegetables. They had a good selection of gluten free desserts. We chose the chocolate cake which was very good. We were offered a 20% voucher for a future visit which we will definitely use soon.

8 of us visited The Seven Stars for Sunday lunch. 7 of us had Sunday roasts of either chicken or beef and my nana had scampi. Food was delicious, well presented and plentiful. Service was excellent, with very attentive and friendly staff. The caramel apple pie for dessert was honestly to die for, the texture of it was gorgeous and went so well with vanilla ice cream. Very reasonably priced food and drinks! Would definitely recommend and we will be back!

I personally have never visited before so I can't comment on whether it is better or worse than it has been with prior landlords but I can say that it is currently wonderful! I had a jacket potato that was gorgeously cooked, fluffy all the way through with generous portions of toppings.

Finally this pub has found its mojo again after having a number of different landlords trying to make it work without success. Good food menu, extremely well cooked and served with a smile. Will be returning.

Thought we would give this pub a try as heard it was under new management. We went in and had lunch, I had a jacket potato and my wife had a Steak and Mushroom Baguette, both were really nice and we would definitely go again. The drinks were reasonably priced and the welcome friendly.

Just had Sunday lunch for 24 of us. 50th birthday. food was excellent. 3 choices of meat all cooked to perfection. All the trimmings too. service around all of us was perfect. No mean feat to feed 24.

we went on steak night 2 for £25 and was not disapointed. The steaks were cooked just right lovely flavour and tender, we had the rib eye with all trimmings beer batterd onion rings,mushrooms,tomatoe ,peas and chips. The only thing the chips were frozen would have been better if were fresh, but for frozen they did taste good.

Tonight was our 2nd meal in 4 days and was fabulous. Hot tasty food served with a friendly smile. Julie and Ken are great hosts and deserve to succeed in this local business. Absolutely wonderful. A warm welcome a fantastic atmosphere a great food. This place is well worth a visit. I can say it was the most relaxing meal out with friends I have ever had, the atmosphere was great. All the staff were very pleasant and polite they were very efficient and out meals and drinks were served in good time. The food was well presented, hot and expertly cooked, the taste of the chilli was exceptional, the steak cooked to perfection and the burgers to die for

I visited this place with my mum for lunch today as like to try somewhere different and was very pleased we did . The lunchtime menu is varied plus there are a couple of specials on the board . The pub looks nice and inviting and the staff were friendly - even offering to cook something off the menu if required .

I live very close to this place, about 5 minutes walk and it has always been a nice place to have a drink and something to eat, but things have changed over the years as the breweries have altered the goal posts for the tenants.

No longer the friendly little pub it used to be, won't be visiting again whilst the present tenants are there, can no longer enjoy yourself and have a laugh with what used to be a wide and varied clientele, constantly told to quieten down and made to feel uncomfortable, I go to a pub to socialise and have a laugh, not sit in silence. Also no longer as dog friendly as it used to be. Such a shame.

1st time under this management. Lovely couple who came over to chat, Had the pork belly with cider sauce, yum ! This guy can cook ! Hubby had homemade steak & ale pie which he said was delicious. Will definately go again.

I completely agree with the recent review by David G. Also our local, we called in for a couple of early evening drinks on Saturday. Now clean, welcoming with some lovely hanging baskets outside and a tidy up all round - the pub is greatly improved by the new management. We wish the new team well and will be making regular use.

The Stars is my ‘local’ and there’s been so many new landlords over the last few years. Some have been good but some have been terrible. However, the new couple arrived on Friday and they have really grasped the nettle. Although the first night menu was limited (soon to expand), the food was first rate! We had Hunters Chicken and Sausage & Mash but I also really fancied the food on the next table. The landlord and landlady really tried hard and we will be back very soon. I do hope the locals support this couple, this will be a great pub if they get the trade they deserve.

Visited after the new management too over. Ordered drinks the barmaid forgot to complete my order as she was distracted by a mans chat up lines. The food ordered was simple Jacket potatoes. Both were microwave cooked with over cooked section which were hard, chilli was poor and cheese was plastic. The tuna mayonnaise was vinegar based salad cream. Salad was gritty. Left and went home to cook lunch. Quite a revolting episode. Contacted Greene King to Owning brewer, they were not concerned.

There are new owners in the last 2 months or so! Very friendly and welcoming. Dog friendly family friendly. But the best thing is the food! Its not a massive menu but it is home cooked type food and cook well. A good test is to ask for steak, if a chef cant cook steak then forget it! but this was perfect. So we will ge going back. In recent years we only eat there once with each new owner ( and there has been a few) as the food was not so good but not this time. Give it a go...but just dont expect a big choice i.e sweet menu was just about 3 things to choose from and ice cream.

Primera visita a las siete estrellas para mi mujer y yo, pero mi hermana y cuñado había estado antes y estaban bien impresionados. Las Estrellas estaban a la altura de su facturación, con excelente cocina casera y el más amable del personal. Toda la comida llegó en proporciones y era de primera calidad. Nuestra visita fue en una noche tranquila el martes, así que el servicio fue rápido y muy amable. Y los precios hizo calidad superior. Se trate de visitar de nuevo certyainly.

A surprisingly quiet pub at a Sunday lunch time. Menu was ok and reasonably priced for pub grub. Food was fine, nothing special, service was friendly.

Visited The Star's twice last weekend, and the food was fantastic each time. Yes you have to wait while Michael the chef cooks the food fresh, but it's always worth the wait. First visit we had the 3 sausage and mash, fish and chips, and a steak with jacket potato.

La comida era buena pero skimped de patatas fritas. . Sin embargo, los baños estaban asqueroso. Cierre la puerta en el cubículo y había telarañas, moscas muertas, etc! Muy sombría.
