All tables were being cleaned down as soon as a customer had left. Lovely place. Will definitely visit again when visiting Saltburn.

Food was excellent. Staff were great. Having to pay the £10 pp deposit is off putting. When you call the number, you are directed to the web site so I called in during the opening hours, but it was closed (other people outside also confused, Friday night 6pm). If I hadn’t been gifted with a voucher, I would have given up going tbh.

Despite the typical November weather, the Seaview Restaurant was able to save the day! Easily the best Cod and Chips I've ever had, cannot recommend enough! The staff were all very friendly and we were seated relatively quickly, even with a queue leading to the beach. We sat in the outdoor area which gave plenty of space for our XL dog and was spacious enough that we didn't feel we were intruding on anybodies meal. The outdoor area has a gorgeous of the beach while also providing a glass protection so that the wind didn't hit. Overall, would highly suggest a visit. Absolutely incredible.

Last ate here about 2 years ago. Previously, when it originally opened, we were frequent customers for an overall excellent product. On our last visit 2+ years ago, the chips were poor, so it was with a degree of apprehension, that we decided to book a table for 5 for my 75th birthday - £50 deposit. Due to a family death, my brother-in-law was unable to attend. Both my wife’s & my food was “warm” rather than hot. The men’s toilet was blocked/not flushing properly, and it is a restaurant that automatically imposes a service charge, rather than leaving any gratuity to the discretion of the customer; I was prepared to go with this, but was disappointed to to note that they had only refunded £40 deposit, not the full £50. This was immediately rectified. When I mentioned that the food was not hot, the lady manager explained that it had to be delivered from downstairs via a dumb waiter ??? We booked for 5 pm, and probably left around 6.30. The restaurant was about half-full, the booking/deposit system seems to me to work against “wall-in’s” This once excellent restaurant seems to me to h a be lost its mojo.

Disappointing and Rude Service I wish I could say I enjoyed my visit to this restaurant, but from start to finish, it was a string of rude interactions and inconsistent service. When we first arrived, the place was packed, so we decided to grab fish and chips to go from the same restaurant while waiting for a table. After finally being seated, we ordered some starters and brought out the takeout to enjoy while we waited. What happened next, though, left a sour taste. An elderly waitress approached our table and insisted, with an unwarranted tone, that we couldn’t eat our takeout fish and chips. What made this worse was that another young waitress seemed perfectly okay with it. On top of that, when I was organizing my bags, the same elderly waitress impatiently requested me close the door immediately, without any consideration. The whole experience felt unnecessarily rude and unwelcoming. Save yourself the frustration! There are much friendlier places nearby where customers are treated with respect.

1st time visit. Not long to wait in queue for lunchtime visit. Lovely F&C , (chips chunky and not greasy), add mushy peas £2.60/pot, 1 slice bread&butter £0.60. Cup of tea £2.50. Fast and PLEASANT service in a lovely atmosphere with nice views out. Very clean feeling. Will be back. Note : optional 10% service charge added to bill …. Worth it for the ‘smiley’ and efficient service by the waitresses which they deserve. NOTE : parking nearby is quite expensive so park for free on the top promenade, walk down the steps, take the cliff lift back up for £1.80 !

Good food & views, service very lacking. Took a long time to get our order taken and the food to arrive. No one asked if food was ok. Had to ask for a drinks order to be taken, was informed someone would be over, that never happened, so had to go to counter. After eating, we wanted coffees but again no one came over to even clear the plates let alone take a coffee order. Had to go to the counter to ask for the bill and pay whilst the table still not cleared. Adding a 10% service charge to the bill was a bit of a joke considering the lack of service we received. Just to note, the restaurant was not full the whole time we were there. Food was good but I’d avoid the restaurant and get the takeaway service.

As the sun begins to set here in the spectacular Saltburn-by-the-Sea, I've come to visit the best restaurant here @seaviewrestaurant 👌 Just relaxing watching the surf roll in 🌊🌊🌊🌞 glass of chilled albarino in hand 🍷 wondering what the fishing boat in the bay will land for tomorrow's lunch 🤔😊 The ever changing menu means I'm always trying something different and so today's offering 😊 I eventually made a decision from the abundance of delicious sounding starters, with scallops winning my heart ❤️ They say you eat with your eyes, and so it was when they arrived ❤️😋😊 Beautifully seared scallops served on roast celeriac, pickled apple & capers, toasted hazelnuts and chervil. The scallops were beautifully cooked, quite literally seared on the outside 😋 😍 the pickled apple & capers provided a wonderful acidity and the roast celeriac brought texture to this quite simply stunning dish 😋😋😍❤️ My grandad gave me a wide range of fish growing up, and one of my favourites was Hake 😋 so for main I couldn't resist the Hake Kiev 😊 Breaded Hake filled with Cep mushrooms, served on pomme puree, pickled shimeji mushrooms and tarragon buttered leeks. Oh my goodness, the Hake flaked to the touch and was matched perfectly with the cep mushrooms filling 😋😍 The pomme puree was every bit as good as it sounds, velvety smooth potato puree, and delicious leeks, cooked just the soft side of al dente were a dream accompaniment to my second stunning dish 😋😋😍❤️ Dessert choice was more problematic given my dislike for exotic fruits which discounted 2 of the 4 desserts, not liking rice pudding discounted a third which left only one!!! 😅 Lemon posset with sour cherries, cherry compot, nut & cherry brittle & micro herbs 🌿 I'm not convinced that sour lemons and sour cherries are a match made in heaven, but that could just be my personal preferences. The lemon posset was delicious 😋, but whilst I ate the sour cherries I'm not sure I'd order them again 😅 Wonderful warm hospitality, stunning food, great location overlooking the bay. Thank you @seaviewrestaurant for looking after me so well and for the stunning food 😋😋😋😍😍 If you are in the area you simply must come and visit them for a wonderful dining experience 😊

Bit pricey, I thought as I felt the mushy peas should come with a set meal and not be charged separately..the actual fish and chips came to £33 - but bread - coffee and an orange juice with side sauces of tartar and mayonaisse racked up another £17 - if they did a set meal for say £21 that includes mushy or normal peas and 1 bread then we looking at value for money - the sides far too much

Visited for lunch with a dog and were asked to wait outside for a table on the terrace which was fine, after about 30 minutes we finally got to the front of the Que and then had to watch as people who had just turned up were let in the restaurant because they were not waiting for an outside table where the dog was allowed. After 40 minutes a couple left the restaurant with a dog so we expected to be allowed in however we were kept outside for another 15 minutes whilst other diners were allowed in. Finally after 55 minutes we were told a table was ready on the terrace where we could sit with the dog. When we entered the terrace there were six unoccupied tables which was very annoying and it was obvious they had been available for quite a considerable time. As it was my wife's birthday I did not want to make a fuss as she was very keen to try the famous crab sandwich which we both ordered. Yes the food was good but having to wait outside for 55 minutes did spoil the experience and I would not recommend standing outside waiting for a table because watching through the window it was obvious the polite staff are very slow to turn a table around ready for the next customer. We can only presume this disregard for customers is the restaurants way of not overwhelming the kitchen. Thank you for responding to our comments, I did say that your staff were very polite so apologies if you thought any different. We only ever take the dog to restaurants if it states its dog friendly. We would come again without the dog because the crab sandwich was very good

Every September we travel up from South Essex for a holiday in beautiful N. Yorkshire - our first stop is always your take-away by Saltburn pier before continuing to Redcar. After travelling all day we were starving and soooo looking forward to our dinner. Thankfully there was no queue - it was a little after 7pm. Imagine our extreme disappointment to be served a piece of fish that was so hard and dried up I could only eat the middle bit of the fish (about a third), leaving all the batter - my husbands fish was only a little better - we left most as we did with the chips - the seagulls can have it. Felt really deflated. I think the food had been cooked earlier and just kept hot, but surely there is a time limit. It should not have been for sale. As a server, if it was me, I would have thrown it away and freshly cook more. My husband said we should have taken it back and complained, but there was now a queue and being disabled its an effort to keep getting in and out of the car, setting up the walker etc.. Over the years we have recommended your food to everyone saying its the best fish 'n chips ever - up til tonight it used to be. Shame as we always visit a few times whilst on holiday.

Second visit to this restaurant, which left me feeling disappointed. Arrived around 4.30, no queue, waited at least 5 minutes to be taken upstairs by a girl collecting wine to take to the bar, otherwise may stoll have been stood there! Made to feel uncomfortable and a burden from then on. The girl was going to take me to a table which was not reserved till 7pm but the lady in charge said no, as only 3 staff on and they needed to set tables for reservations from 5pm. The girl repeated not reserved until 7pm, met with same answer. I said happy to sit outside. I was sat for circa 10 minutes before order taken, asked for beer and some tea, the latter to be brought with main meal, scraps and mushy peas. No smile at all from the lady taking the order, nor was it checked back with me. Drinks arrived, both beer and tea at same time! The waitress walked away before I could say anything Meal came about 7 minutes later, the food at my first visit was much better the girl serving said scraps on way. I waited for a couple of minutes, no scraps and as sat outside decided to start eating before went cold. I was half way through when scraps arrived, no peas and again waitress vanished before I could say anything. Tea was lukewarm and stewed by now, but I drunk it as no one around to ask anything. I ate up, got the bill, no mushy peas were listed despite my request. I paid and left straight away, the older lady never acknowledged me or spoke but the younger girl was very polite. Disappointing visit, which makes me question if I would visit again or eat elsewhere? I don't need to know how many staff are working, how busy they are etc just expect a good standard of service. Apologies for this review, but looks like others have experienced issues too.

Waited over an hour before we had to flag someone down to tell them to atleast bring the kids meals. 15 mins later, still did not have our mains. We asked for the bill. We paid a £40 deposit when making the booking. My partner spoke to the manager and her excuse was the kitchen was busy which as a customer should have nothing to do with my experience. Not a penny off the final bill as a good will gesture. Not even the courtesy of a heartfelt apology or a goodbye as we left the restaurant without actually having had our main meals. We've been coming to back to Saltburn for years because of this fantastic gem of a restaurant. Food is always fabulous and we've always had a brilliant, warm welcome where nothing was too much trouble. Until Monday. We'd booked a 5pm table as we have a 2 year old and my 86 year old mother with us. Our walk on the beach didn't last as long as usual so we decided to ask at the restaurant whether we could take our table early to have a drink and enjoy the view before our booking at 5pm. The restaurant was empty. We were told, in no uncertain terms, the answer was no and that there was a sign downstairs which we should have read. Ok, no problem...off to another establishment until our booking. When we returned, we were seated on the terrace and our order taken by one of the fantastic young team members. The sun had started to set and, because there was a table still available in the sun and with no other customers other than one table already seated in the sun, we went to move our water and cutlery. Apparently, a big no-no to according to the senior member of staff who advised us the kitchen would be confused by us moving and would we expect to do that in another restaurant? Well, and I wish I'd said this then, the answer is a firm yes. If my 86 year old mother and 2 year old daughter are freezing cold I would look to move tables. The reason that it would 'confuse the kitchen' just didn't make sense on a terrace containing just us and another table...with the waiting staff being the ones serving us - not the kitchen team. Strange. The meal was phenomenal, the younger team members apologetic for their colleague who hasn't quite grasped the notion of hospitality in the sector they work. With how spectacular the food was, I find it hard to believe a switch of tables would bamboozle the obviously highly talented kitchen team. A call out to the management to please offer this team member some additional training and guidance as their demeanor, and unwillingness to accommodate some really inconsequential asks which led to an elderly lady and baby sitting in the cold unnecessarily, are highly likely to bring our 8 year love affair with your establishment to a end. To the rest of you team and the kitchen - bravo...you are wonderful.

We’ve been coming to the Seaview for 7 years now. Food here has always been and still is very good! The view from the restaurant is fabulous as well. But the service has gotten worse and worse through the years. The waitress who’s been there the longest thinks she owns Saltburn and her attitude is one of ‘she’s doing you a favour for allowing you entrance to the place -even when you have a reservation with a prepaid deposit. There is no hospitality happening at this restaurant anymore. This woman is rude, not helpful, not accommodating … very hard to understand how she’s hot a job in this sector to begin with. The rest of the staff is young and nice, but they don’t stand up to this bully. For us, this was the last time at this restaurant. Funny how one rotten apple can spoil the whole barrel… be warned!

The Seaview was the purpose of our North Yorkshire road trip. A fantastic meal was enjoyed with a view of the sun on the water and Saltburn pier. The Crab Brioche was worth the drive alone, but the quality of all the food was excellent. The spicy prawn starter was a winner and my daughter loved the fresh warm bread. Recommend you book first and make the pilgrimage to Saltburn by the Sea.

One of the best seafood restaurants around, with lovely views over the pier and bay. Good, varied menu that caters for all. My wife particularly recommends the scallops, she says they're the best she's ever had.

The Sea View Restaurant in Saltburn offers an excellent view and top-notch service. Although I was a tad bit disappointed in the food, the overall experience was good.

Well slightly disappointed to say the least stopped today for fish and chips 1/7/2024 wasn't busy didn't have to wait to long was after 5 order my 2 cod and chips with scraps. Fish looked nicely cooked. Chips on the other hand were absolutely disgraceful undercooked, soggy and swimming in grease (£21 for the 2 fish and chips) really really have had better fish and chips, there's another fish and chips shop near the church and there's are far better. Had been here (seaview) before and I must say they were better a couple years ago safe to say I won't be back

Chips cooked in old oil and was completely uncooperative when asked to be given some idea of sizes so we could judge which we were going to have. Fish heavily battered not crisp and light at all. Save your money and find a nice restaurant.

Beautiful restaurant, service spot on. Large fish very impressive and delicious, but the chips - tepid, the fat from them soon coated the top of your mouth. Chips should zing and smell appetizing when you add the vinegar, these upset my stomach for a while. Just to note also peas and curry sauce could have been hotter but we did eat them. Finally warm the teapot before adding the hot water, because yes you've guessed, that wasn't red hot either

I have been looking forward to visiting the Seaview after seeing Fred and Nadiya's visit on TV. Their recommendation of the crab brioche has to be tried as they didn't do it justice....it was fantastic. The service was excellent and I would advise getting there early as a queue quickly forms. Arrive hungry too....not to be missed if you're visiting Saltburn. Thank you 😊

This restaurant has an unrivalled position with wonderful views of Saltburn pier and the sea. We have eaten here three times now when holidaying in Saltburn and have never been disappointed. The food is spot on; fresh and delicious. We tried their famous crab and crayfish brioche this time and it was delicious. We had the scallops to share to start and they were sublime. The restaurant is done beautifully with hints of blue. The service is always excellent. We can't wait to visit again soon!!!

We've been here before and the food was good. This time we waited to be seated for 5 mins downstairs (as the sign says). We eventually thought it best to go upstairs to the restaurant as we weren't sure we'd been seen by the camera. [In response to your response: I totally understand that we can't wait upstairs, the point was that we waited downstairs for a long time, not knowing whether someone had seen us, so eventually went upstairs just for a member of staff to be rude] When upstairs we were rudely told to go back downstairs and wait. We asked if it's okay to stay upstairs and wait and we're told, "Only if you don't get in the way!". Very rude, so we left and ate elsewhere.

Decided to try this place after seeing it on TV, what we had was a lot smaller than what we saw on TV. It is very expensive for what you get as in £9 for some rice pudding with a few bits of mango and coconut. The staff are very friendly and it's clean with views over the sea. Give it a go and decide for yourself.

Very pleased to see that this shop has reopened after a long closure. Got a tasty sausage and chips - they stop cooking fish when getting near closing times, I arrived at 18:50 and sausage and chips was the only dish on offer. Be careful of restricted opening hours, particularly early closing times in the evenings.

Down South to Saltburn for work on our Caddy. Ignored reviews and booked direct with the hotel. Deposit until arrival. Owners now run this establishment. ALL staff Friendly and attentive. Our Room was beautifully decorated, tea and coffee facilities, shower room with toiletries, spotless towels, comfortable clean bed with nice crisp cotton sheets. Food in restaurant was exceptional. The restaurant newly opened with lovely decor. Owner took time to speak with all customers. Bar area ample. Breakfast consisted of continental and a fry up which was ordered the previous night served in the cafe area. Hotel was spotless throughout. Only downside was we could only get phones and WiFi in the restaurant and bar area possibly due to being located in a valley.
