Was a student living basically next door to this place and it was a lifesaver. Yes the restaurant was excellent and staff friendly but the highlight for me as a student was the little shop in the entrance. Loads of Asian noodles and other food options at a fair price ! Miss living next to such a nice establishment, highly recommend

We’ve eaten here 3 times in as many months; most recently we introduced friends too. Wide range menu of HK speciality food. I’ve never had anything as authentic in the UK, and everything is absolutely delicious. Heartily recommend the scallops served in shell and the aubergine dish. Service is always very friendly and efficient. Highly recommended.

The Seafood Guy By 1998 Café on Castle Boulevard in Nottingham is a fantastic little restaurant specialising in Hong Kong Cuisine. For starters we tried the Japanese Gyoza, deep fried and crispy served with a sweet dipping sauce 'Harmonious Blend of savoury chicken, fresh vegetables, and subtle Japanese seasoning' and the Takoyaki - 'Japanese octopus-filled balls. with crispy exterior and a soft and fluffy inside'. I loved these! Mains were the very popular 'Flamin Chicken Hot Pot' creating a lot of theatre at the table! It was very tasty too 'Stir fried chicken marinated in savory sauce enhanced with a touch of brandy and ignites into flames right before your eyes' Also tried the Beef Cubes with Black Pepper & Honey glazed potato this was excellent 'bite sized cubes of tenderloin and sauteed potatoes. a fusion of the boldness of black pepper with the sweetness of honey' It was quite a rich and sweet dish and went well with a bowl of plain rice. Loved this place, so much on the menu I want to try!

Visited on a Monday night so it was fairly quiet however dead nice food, very welcoming and hospitable. Definitely recommend the pb french toast, good sake collection as well. Not your usual Chinese/English style food. Definitely more authentic. Will be returning

This is an amazing place if you’ re missing Hong Kong cuisine. We ordered a cooked pork rice and a red bean iced drink. The drink took about ten minutes to arrive and the food took about twenty minutes to arrive but it was so worth it. The drink was very delicious and was just the right sweetness, it even came with a scoop of vanilla ice cream! The food was scrumptious and it was still hot. We were looking for a place to have lunch so we were very lucky there was room available. If you’re in Nottingham, I totally recommend this place! There was also an awesome shop full of Hong Kong keychains and asian snacks.

Had a wide selection of dishes between 5 of us. Crispy squid was good but didn't come with a dip,when I asked for soy sauce he brought Worcestershire sauce as he said it would be a better accompaniment, I disagreed so he brought soy sauce; a chilli soy would be best actually. My husband enjoyed the shallots with vermicelli. We got a free octopus balls with our beers,my husband liked them but I thought they were odd and squidgy! My son ordered crispy lemon chicken,it wasn't that crispy, although the lemon sauce was OK. They forgot his rice. His girlfriend had chicken and rice which she liked,it was quite flavoursome. My daughter ordered katsu chicken which was quite nice. Lots of chicken and rice,decent flavours but no finesse. The morning glory was fresh and lightly cooked but had a slightly unusual sauce flavour. We ordered one with tofu,they brought one without and 20 minutes later brought another,without tofu..we didn't ask for it, we sent it back. We also ordered a pomfret fish in black bean sauce and it didn't arrive so we had to ask again,they'd forgotten it,when it did arrive it was quite nice but the sauce was watery( possibly defrosted?) We also had to ask for our drinks and water a couple of times. Altogether it was fine,the service was okay,friendly staff but slightly forgetful, although it was quite busy. Would we go again? Probably not which is a shame as its a 5 minute walk from my son's flat!

Have wanted to visit here for quite some time and wish I had visited sooner! Casual vibe and a no-frills setting, the food was really good quality and tasted great, it did not disappoint. Really friendly service too. Will definitely be back

We visited The Seafood Guy for the first time this week and loved it, the atmosphere was fab, all the team were friendly and the food was spot on, we even had a bit of table theatre with our flaming chicken pot. If you go then you must try the Hong Kong French Toast, its my new favourite thing and we'll certainly be visiting again :)

The HK French Toast is a game-changer! It's crispy on the outside, soft on the inside, and has just the right amount of sweetness. It pairs perfectly with a cup of Osmanthus Honey Tea.

Japanese Curry Deep Fried Tofu Rice was a fantastic vegetarian option. The tofu was crispy on the outside and soft on the inside, and the curry had a rich, flavorful kick. Highly recommend!

Tried their Parmesans, and they were excellent. Crispy on the outside, tender on the inside, with just the right amount.

S&S Ribs were finger-licking good! The meat was tender, and the sauce had the perfect balance of sweet and tangy. I can't wait to order this again.

Nissan Noodles in Soup with Hong Kong Satay Beef was an explosion of flavors. The satay beef was cooked perfectly, and the noodles soaked up the rich broth beautifully.

The Beef Short Rib in Broth with Flat Rice Noodles was hearty and comforting. The beef was tender, and the broth was rich and flavorful. I would definitely recommend it for a satisfying meal.

Authentic Hong Kong food with lots of varieties.

Osmanthus Honey Tea was a perfect ending to my meal. The floral notes from the osmanthus combined with the sweetness of the honey created a soothing and aromatic drink.

The Iced Ribena with Sliced Lemon was so refreshing! It had just the right amount of sweetness, with a zesty kick from the lemon. Perfect for a hot day.

The Takoyaki was an absolute delight! The octopus was tender, and the batter was light and crispy. It's one of the best I've had outside of Japan.

I had the Hot Boiled Ginger Lemon Coke out of curiosity, and it was surprisingly good! The warmth of the ginger and the tanginess of the lemon combined perfectly with the sweetness of the Coke.

Here's what we ordered 🍽 🖤 STARTER: ♡ Snack Platter ~ Bite Size French Toast, Prawn Toast, Spring Rolls and Gyoza 🖤 MAINS: ♡ Flaming Chicken Hotpot ♡ Beef Cubes with Black Pepper & Honey Glazed Potato ♡ Typhoon Shelter Fried King Prawn ♡ Egg Fried Rice ♡ Udon Noodles Wow, what a treat! We were really impressed! Those prawns were some of the nicest I've ever eaten, and the Flaming Chicken Hotpot was unreal! 😍 The staff were all super friendly and Jonny came over several times to chat to us and share his knowledge with us about the dishes we'd ordered, which I thought was really nice. They also have a little shop where you can stock up on Chinese treats, we came away with a few goodies! We can't wait to come back and try some more of the lovely dishes from the extensive menu! 🖤

A proper celebration of Hong Kong cuisine. Delicious food, passionate staff and a little Asian store to buy some snacks too! Might not look like much from the outside, but I’d sincerely urge you to put aside your thoughts on appearances and give these guys a go.

The milk tea and lemon tea that I was looking forward to the most were average in taste, which was a bit disappointing. It would be better if there were more set meals, but basically they are all a la carte with no options. The service attitude of the staff is okay. I visited during non-peak hours, but it felt a little slow.

Authentic, absolutely delicious food, served by friendly people. Not your usual takeaway food. Particularly recommend the squid and prawns. The restaurant is quirky and comfortable. We will definitely be returning!

The atmosphere is good and the service is good. Originally, it cost £3 to add side dishes to a meal, and you had rice and catering. Since my place is called Zuo Chicken Rice, I didn’t want rice, but Qu’s place would have cost £1 plus catering.

The Seafood Guy - if you’re looking for authentic Hong Kong cuisine in the heart of Nottingham city centre look no further. With page and pages of dishes to choose from. They offer all the meats and a large selection of seafood dishes including crab, lobster and scallops. The restaurant had a real family feel and we were made to feel so welcome. They embrace the sharing culture and this was clear to see with the families around us all tucking in. A special shout out to Crystal, she was lovely and we especially enjoyed her stories from home and information on the restaurants background. When we left there wasn’t a spare seat in the house which is amazing for early doors on a midweek night and just shows how popular the restaurant is.

Putting aside other factors, the food here is seriously delicious. However, they are generally oily and have a strong flavor, and it is easy to get tired of them, so you need to have certain skills when ordering. The standard of the staple food is a little worse, the rice is on the edge of being undercooked, the rice noodles are almost tasteless, and they are far less attractive than they look on the menu. But the desserts were a surprise! The black sesame paste is made by myself and is very fragrant, far beyond the powder paste.

I have to say it was a very disappointing experience. I ordered: wonton noodle soup - the noodles were undercooked, Golden fried rice - the char siu was hard and burnt, Morning glory was extremely salty, Typhoon King Prawns were so bland you could only taste the breadcrumbs. The young male server did not provide proper customer service, we had to ask for bowls, spoons, chopsticks and tissues. However the owner (I think) was nice and helpful. I would definitely not recommend this place as there are better options in the city.

I tried the ice room in Nottingham today, and the service was good. I ordered the hot soup, eggplant stew with fish flavor and golden shrimp. The most delicious of the three dishes was the fish-flavored eggplant, but the portion was relatively small, and the golden shrimp was not dry and crispy enough, and the taste was average.

Went for dinner there today 20/7/2023. Travelled one hour to dine here. Never have we been so disappointed in the service and food. The young man who greeted us couldn’t even smile nor did we witness a smile from his lips, very grumpy and has bad attitude vibes which made the whole experience worse. If you are going to do a front facing role try to be happy and serve with a smile. At least try! Placed food on table in a huff and didn’t supply cutlery. When we asked it was given begrudgingly… first time we have been here so we definitely didn’t know him. The food was edible but salty not the best but ultimately ruined it by one young man/boy

Dinner. It serves authentic Hong Kong inspired cuisine. On arrival the place was full,but they managed to squeeze us in.The restaurant was very busy and with most of the clientele from the chinese community,which is always a good sign. It was almost as if we had been transported to downtown Hong Kong. It's been a long time since we have seen a menu like this.Approx 14 pages of pictures to choose from. With a lot different dishes that are not on a usual chinese restaurant or takeaway menu. There's no prawn crackers or chips🤣 We were looking forward to our usual go to drink of lager with our meal but guess what? Unfortunately they only serve soft drinks and various teas. After ordering, we sat back and watched the other diners enjoying their food while sipping our fanta and coke. Our order was The snack platter. Typhoon shelter fried king prawn. Flaming chicken hot pot. Garlic & vermicelli steam scallops. Char-siu rice with soy sauce chicken. We didn't realise everything would arrive at the table all at the same time. As it was very busy, it did affect the service of the food a little. We should maybe have asked for the platter to be served first. Whilst the Flaming chicken was the show stopper, our favourite dish would have to be the King Prawn dish. The portions were very generous and had to admit defeat for the remainder of the food to take home. If you want to try an authentic Hong Kong experience in Nottingham make sure you go with an empty stomache. Unless you have a huge appetite as you won't leave here hungry.

I dont want to share how good itbwas because they don't have many seats, and if I tell everybody how good it is then maybe I won't get a seat next time i go!! So it was really good but make sure you leave me a seat :-)

The food is fantastic.But please offer me chopsticks for my food . I was the only person having a spoon and fork with my noodle brisket soup (and my noodles were chopped up like I was a child )which changed the light fragrant soup into a bowl of sloppy Noodles and hard to eat
