I took my mum here for a belated Mother's Day dinner because I'd heard great things about Brown's. God was I dissapointed. To start with, our drinks took 30-40 mins to arrive. If that isn't bad enough, they only arrived when I asked the server bringing our starters to check on them. Based on the speed they got there and the state of my drink I'd sya they'd been sat on the bar... it wasn't a busy night. Sadly, that wasn't the worst of it. We were freezing. We weren't outside, nor were we by an open window or door. There must have been a draft which I understand cannot be controlled. However, we were also near a radiator so I asked one of the managers if they could turn it on/up or even bring us blankets as my mother was sitting with her coat on. He raced upstairs but nothing happened. Now, the food was glorious. It saved the whole night as best it could. The mash potatos were so creamy they barely stayed on the fork and they balanced out my (over salted) pork belly and scallops perfectly. I did bring up these issues with our server and requested the service charge and my mum's drink be comped. They were very understanding but unfortunately the damage was done. I know that other locations are far better so this was just dissapointing.

Unfortunately our afternoon tea was very disappointing, we paid £25 each to celebrate mothering Sunday, our 2 finger sandwiches had been out too long and we're stale , the tea in the pot was luke warm and overall it definitely was not worth the money..£100 for 4 people and £10 added for service charge ...we certainly won't be visiting again.

Food and drinks are awesome but after the waiter gave us the bill, we waited for 15 minutes until he came back with the card machine, no one came to our area and even some of the staffs could see us, they didn’t come to help us. Other than that it was a pretty enjoyable dinner.

Dined at Browns Saturday night. Greeted beautifully by a lovely gentleman. Waiter DC, was attentive and really friendly. Food delicious, ambiance fabulous. I’ve not been to Browns in around 3-4 years. The refurb is fantastic and looks so classy. Will definitely be back when the weather gets warmer.

Gorgeous place and the staff were lovely! Food was delicious, my calamari wasn't great but everything else was good! It was quite pricey but its a lovely treat! There's a few vegan options to, but not many!

Really like this place, been a couple of times now. Good choice on the menu and the dishes are really good, some just a little bit different. Chef to be complimented. Staff attentive and good service. Not pricey, really good value for what we have.

A belated review I'm afraid as we visited just before Xmas. We were a walk in and despite being very busy they still went out of their way to find us a table. Food was excellent and was matched by the service

Simply put: Food was lovely! Atmosphere was great, but a very large drunk but merry table next to us meant that the youngest person sat on the end of the table could not hear anything (even across the table) except the person sat directly next to them at the table (just for reference I am the youngest in my 30's). Service was (for us) quite slow. First time dining here after having no end of recommendations. On entry the decor and atmosphere is wonderful, we were shown to our table after waiting for our other guests in the bar which was superb, swift bar service with a great premium selection to choose from! I am going to have to add it to my places to meet up for an evening drink! After being seated and having our drinks order taken for the table we had to then wait 25 minutes for our drinks to arrive in which time the waitress had been back to take the order of food. Following the meal (more on the food in a second) we were offered the desert menu before another unusual long wait. The food here is great, no matter what your tastes are, from a simple fish and chips - I was told the fish was fantastic to crab and prawn linguini. Scallops were cooked to perfection for my starter and the poached plumbs were nicely spiced and cooked. The drinks themselves were fantastic, a great selection of premium beers and wines to choose from. I was served swiftly at the bar on arrival but the table service after was slow and dampened the experience. As I mentioned the decor and atmosphere were lovely its was just unfortunate we had the large table next to us. I look forward to returning here maybe for an evening drink, or maybe for lunch one day. Parking is easy on street even with the road works around the area. Well worth coming to.

It’s nice… the service is friendly but very slow. The food has a good variety but not really worth the price it’s charged. The steak comes with a block of cold butter over the top so you barely taste the meat. And a very small side salad of beetroot and feta for a fiver. The decoration is beautiful and 10/10 but feels like the menu is trying to do too much and not really doing much.

We ordered a chateabriand for £70 for two. It was meant to 16oz of meat - it was NOT. Firstly, it was very disappointing that the meat was all pre-sliced (which is not how the classic dish should be) and we had a measly 3 thin slices each, it felt more like 8oz in total between two people. When the plate arrived we genuinely thought there would be another plate coming, it was barely enough for 1 person. We felt utterly ripped off of £70… basically we had a plateful of fries and onion rings with 3 measly pieces of thinly sliced meat each. We felt utterly robbed of £70 and will NEVER go back.

One of the best places to eat in Nottingham - possibly THE best if you are celiac. There are celiac menus with lots of choice, and very similar to non-celiac meals. The staff are just lovely; so friendly and helpful, always smiling and keen to make sure you have a great experience. Food wise, make sure you try the stem ginger ice cream! Only suggestion I would make is that staff don’t seem to wear name badges so I can never remember who served me!

Absolutely incredible restaurant. Ryan and Tom, in particular, were incredible and very attentive. Tom makes incredible cocktails. The food was amazing. It's a wonderful restaurant and we will definitely be going again.

Very long wait in between courses . Food was not really hot enough . Long wait for drinks . Staff were all very friendly polite and lovely but clearly just not enough of them to service the amount of diners. Disappointed

Valentines night. Starter Sea food plater to share. Prawns, a few calamari, and a scallop. Mains Chateaubriand and beige frozen fries and oinion rings. Beef was ok. Three piece desert to share between two? Problem with one of the deserts that I won't s hair with you. Service was fantastic. Discount on the bill was not asked for but was implemented. Overall, I would say they couldn't cope with the numbers. It took 20 minutes to make our first cocktails. And that was the time from ordering. What surprise me was seeing the host that saw me to my seat leave before any of the diners. Maybe he had a better place to go. Overall. Ok. But maybe for a not so busy night.

Had yet another top notch evening at Browns. Our server, Sahal, was friendly, polite and professional 😊 Food was fabulous, exceeded description on the menu, left feeling nicely rounded! 😁 Will continue to be one of our favourite places, and be back again soon ❤️

Haven't been to Browns in years but decided to host my baby shower here today in their private function room and it was perfect! The afternoon tea was amazing, and service from Ryan was brilliant, he was chatty, quick and made our experience fab! We had an incredible experience celebrating our anniversary at Browns Nottingham today! The food was absolutely delicious, and the staff went above and beyond to make the occasion special. A big shoutout to Ilyas, who served us—he was so attentive and helpful throughout the meal. When he found out it was our anniversary, he surprised us with a beautiful cake, making the celebration even more memorable. We truly appreciated the thoughtful gesture and the overall wonderful service. Highly recommend Browns Nottingham for any special occasion!

I booked fairly last minute for a birthday Sunday lunch for 12 and was really happy that they could squeeze us in. We all had a great time and Sahal our waiter, whilst busy juggling other tables was able to serve us really well. He was really friendly from the moment we arrived and was able to meet all of our requests (more glasses, drinks, gravy, sauces..). He made it a really enjoyable experience. Food was great too (hot, tasty, good portions especially the kids meals) though I was a little disappointed with the roast potatoes and the children’s roast chicken dinner had a piece of flattened grilled chicken, not the same quality as the adults roasted chicken. Atmosphere was fantastic with the live piano and bustling of relaxed customers and attentive staff. Everyone agreed they would be back again as there’s such a wide ranging menu. Until next time..

Drinks at bar then had Afternoon Tea. Very busy Saturday afternoon so very crowded and noisy. Overall disappointing. Bar: staff seemed to struggle to find a smile and barman in the suit was very keen on sorting out a till issue rather than helping customers. Barman in uniform did make ok drinks thankfully. Waiting staff: very friendly and smiled a lot especially when apologising for food delay. Food was served 75 mins after table booked time. Food: Ploughman's sandwich seemed to be pure pickle. Heavy fruit cake had no place on this afternoon tea and was returned uneaten. Teas: served about 40 mins before food so went very cold. Found Earl Grey tea unpleasant as mixed with tropical flavours. Plus points: lemon meringue pie and carrot cake were great. Chocolate ganache pud pretty.

The Quality of the food and service for the price doesn't match.. It was good in the past but recently is not up to standards of before .. Had to wait for a drink for a hour and steak was poorly cooked and thin and very chewy. Customer service was not great and no one apologied for the huge wait for drinks..

Excellent service, starter and main course were very good but very disappointed with the desert my wife and I chose to share a apple and plum crumble which came in what seemed like a cast iron dish, we left most of it because of the very bad taste left in our mouth probably due to it being in a cast iron dish. We pointed this out to the Waitress but nothing was done about it. Disappointing but it won't stop us going back.

Brown's...always a good atmosphere and made even better by our very attentive and helpful waitress Maja. The food has slipped a tad in quality since our last visit, some 18 months ago to be fair, but everything else was good. We shall still recommend it and return as customers again.

Where to begin!?…. # A Boxing Day Disaster at Browns Our eagerly anticipated festive celebration turned into a catastrophic experience. Despite meticulous planning and advance booking, Browns' incompetence shattered our holiday cheer. # Initial Missteps 1. *Unrequested extras*: Bottled water and wine glasses appeared uninvited. 2. *Neglected service*: Drinks orders were ignored, necessitating intervention from another waitress. # Culinary Catastrophe 1. *Missing main course*: Braised Blade of Beef, carefully selected months prior, was nonexistent. 2. *Heartless response*: The waiter's nonchalant attitude exacerbated our frustration. # Additional Affronts 1. *Dirty dishes*: Tea cups and fingerprint-smeared plates tainted our dining experience. 2. *Food contamination*: A coughing waiter jeopardized our meal's safety. 3. *Subpar cuisine*: The Festive Turkey meal fell woefully short of expectations. # Devastating Outcome We left hungry, disillusioned and financially unrecompensed, we were refunded our deposit and sent on our merry way. Late afternoon in the fog on Boxing Day, hungry and nowhere to go but back home! Browns' ineptitude ruined our special day and left me in tears. UPDATE: Upon complaining to the Manager a compensation plan was arranged. Its worth noting here that the Manager was very understanding, empathetic and egar to put things right. Which helped pull things back again, althrough we have yet to organise the Compensatory events, but when we do we will update this review and hopefully be able to give back the stars 🌟 and give credit where it's due. 🤞

A great buzzy atmosphere, food, service and good value for money

Went there on new year's eve. Wow for £100 each the soup I had was on the verge of bland. There was no butter with the dry pieces of bread with the soup. For the main I had a steak. I gotta tell you was one of the worst cut of meat I've ever had. All chewy could of blewn a bubble with it. And the dessert I had Eton mess. You can't really go wrong with cream and meringue. The booking was miss interoperated and almost didn't get a table. I wanted another drink and I had to remind them 2 times 30 mins later before I got it. I noticed the people next to me were going through the same experience. One ordered 2 coffees and in 45 mins still didn't arrive. The service was poor I must say. I can't get over this cost over 100 each. I definitely will not be going back next year. I been going for 3 years straight and I've noticed massive price hike but a huge drop in quality. I feel I'm not the only one with this opinion.

This place never disappoints. Its the first time I've been for many years and I thoroughly enjoyed it. The roast beef is delicious, the service is great and it has a lovely relaxed atmosphere. It's a little on the pricy side (for me) but well worth it as a treat

They had run out of prawn cocktails so had the smoked salmon with a piece of soggy cardboard (rye bread). The main was very rich and sweet. The Xmas pudding was dry with not enough custard. It was the seasonal menu , which I think are very overrated and overpriced.

Beautifully cooked pork belly and good quality food

Food was really lovely on the whole. The Linguine needed more Prawns, only 4 Prawns in the dish. Service was very slow over 3 hours from being seated at 7.30pm. Waited over an hour for the starter to come out. One meal did not arrive with the rest even though we had pre ordered. Good Gluten Free options but chicken was dry in burger. Drinks arrived incorrectly and one had to be sent back. One person did not recieve one that they had ordered.

Went for the two course or three course menu. Was told it didn’t not start for another day. It was on the website advertised like it was an immediate deal (no start date). The deal was not honoured nor any compensation. The manager admitted that they had made a mistake online by not stating the start date. Gathering custom with false advertisement

I love this restaurant usually and eat here often. However today I attended a friend’s 60th birthday afternoon tea which was booked on my recommendation. I found the food not to be the usual standard I’ve been used to at your establishment. The waiter seemed to be tired, the atmosphere was lacking, he mixed up the orders of vegetarian and non- vegetarian trays and therefore one of the ladies had to wait for several minutes before her tray of food arrived. There was a lack of savoury food and what we did have was not the best and to be honest quite tasteless. The tea and coffee left a lot to be desired too, the tea was extremely weak and the coffee very strong. As we were about to leave to go elsewhere the waiter said we still had a bill to settle and when the daughter of the birthday lady went to check what he meant he told her she owed a further £80! He wanted her to pay an extra £25 for an extra afternoon tea ( though he mixed up the order!) He then told her she owed £55 service charge! The young lady was very worried that she would need to find the extra money. Thankfully it was all sorted but only when she had to go through all the people attending and what we had chosen to eat and prove we didn’t need to pay £25 for an extra afternoon tea and we declined to pay the service charge. What a shame it spoilt our special afternoon.

Very nice waiting staff. Had to send some drinks back to be made properly as they weren’t cold. Food was all excellent.

Lovely restaurant experience from the waiting staff to the quality of food and all set in a beautifully decorated interior with live piano and singing. I was there for a date day but it’s also very suitable for families and groups. The Seafood platter and pulled lamb shepherds pie were particularly delicious!

Absolutely awful service Food cold and not enough for the £40.00 quid price tag festive menu, was not worth it at all..we didn't even get one Brussel sprout, or a pig in blanket...it was all about churning out the meals no matter what for profit ..absolutely disgraceful. Server disappeared after starters. Tried to over charge us by adding on another £28.00 and put another £8.00 service charge which also should be optional. We didn't have a server! Never go back again!

Really bad service. We had to wait a while before our order was taken, then the waiter couldn’t get away from us fast enough - he started to walk off before we ordered drinks and we had to stop him from walking off twice more before we had completed our order. Two of our starters had been forgotten, so 4 of us had finished eating before the forgotten starters arrived - understand mistakes happen and we would have been forgiving if an apology was offered but the waiter didn’t seem to care, no mention of trying to get the forgotten dishes out quickly or any other reassurances. We saw the same dish go out to other tables twice before our forgotten dishes arrived. No check backs to ask if our food was okay. When we took the service charge off at the end, the waiter didn’t attempt to engage with us to find out why, he took the bill away in silence. Interesting that management weren’t made aware about our forgotten starters or removal of service charge…. Good food was the only thing that made up for this disappointing service!

Came to dine back in early December, as well as today. One of my favourite places to come in Nottingham, good food, drink and atmosphere. Mike looked after us really well too!

I’ve been a loyal Browns customer for years, but after tonight’s experience at the Nottingham branch, I won’t be returning. We were greeted by a rude waiter who made us feel unwelcome, telling us we were “late” (we were just 8 minutes past our 6:30 reservation). Four of us ordered the “Roast Root Vegetable, Walnut & Almond Tart” but were served a Nut Roast instead, with no explanation. When we asked the manager, she dismissed our concern, claiming it was “the same,” even though it clearly wasn’t. Service was inattentive—we had to ask for water three times. And to top it off, we were wrongly charged for a three-course festive menu we didn’t order. Overall, the service and food were far below expectations. Given this experience, I won’t recommend this location to anyone and won’t be returning.

I've been using this location for years. Unfortunately, they have gone downhill drastically. Had to ask twice to have a table cleaned to have a drink. Then, we are seated at a table to be told that you might have to move you if you are in the way? Starter was great, but the ribeye steak was 50% inedible but no sign of any staff that was interested. Gave up and paid the bill and moved on to a decent location for dessert.

Went for Breakfast. Very clean and lovely decor. Food was lovely nd staff efficient and very friendly. We will definitely return.

The restaurant has a lovely ambience, making it the perfect spot for our annual Christmas celebration. We return every year for our Christmas do and the staff are always very helpful, ensuring a great experience.
