Very tasty food and drinks. Welcoming and comfortable atmosphere. Generally good service with a slight lack of knowledge from one waiter who may have been new to the job.

Beautifully cooked pork belly and good quality food

Food was really lovely on the whole. The Linguine needed more Prawns, only 4 Prawns in the dish. Service was very slow over 3 hours from being seated at 7.30pm. Waited over an hour for the starter to come out. One meal did not arrive with the rest even though we had pre ordered. Good Gluten Free options but chicken was dry in burger. Drinks arrived incorrectly and one had to be sent back. One person did not recieve one that they had ordered.

Went for the two course or three course menu. Was told it didn’t not start for another day. It was on the website advertised like it was an immediate deal (no start date). The deal was not honoured nor any compensation. The manager admitted that they had made a mistake online by not stating the start date. Gathering custom with false advertisement

I love this restaurant usually and eat here often. However today I attended a friend’s 60th birthday afternoon tea which was booked on my recommendation. I found the food not to be the usual standard I’ve been used to at your establishment. The waiter seemed to be tired, the atmosphere was lacking, he mixed up the orders of vegetarian and non- vegetarian trays and therefore one of the ladies had to wait for several minutes before her tray of food arrived. There was a lack of savoury food and what we did have was not the best and to be honest quite tasteless. The tea and coffee left a lot to be desired too, the tea was extremely weak and the coffee very strong. As we were about to leave to go elsewhere the waiter said we still had a bill to settle and when the daughter of the birthday lady went to check what he meant he told her she owed a further £80! He wanted her to pay an extra £25 for an extra afternoon tea ( though he mixed up the order!) He then told her she owed £55 service charge! The young lady was very worried that she would need to find the extra money. Thankfully it was all sorted but only when she had to go through all the people attending and what we had chosen to eat and prove we didn’t need to pay £25 for an extra afternoon tea and we declined to pay the service charge. What a shame it spoilt our special afternoon.

Very nice waiting staff. Had to send some drinks back to be made properly as they weren’t cold. Food was all excellent.

Lovely restaurant experience from the waiting staff to the quality of food and all set in a beautifully decorated interior with live piano and singing. I was there for a date day but it’s also very suitable for families and groups. The Seafood platter and pulled lamb shepherds pie were particularly delicious!

Absolutely awful service Food cold and not enough for the £40.00 quid price tag festive menu, was not worth it at all..we didn't even get one Brussel sprout, or a pig in blanket...it was all about churning out the meals no matter what for profit ..absolutely disgraceful. Server disappeared after starters. Tried to over charge us by adding on another £28.00 and put another £8.00 service charge which also should be optional. We didn't have a server! Never go back again!

Really bad service. We had to wait a while before our order was taken, then the waiter couldn’t get away from us fast enough - he started to walk off before we ordered drinks and we had to stop him from walking off twice more before we had completed our order. Two of our starters had been forgotten, so 4 of us had finished eating before the forgotten starters arrived - understand mistakes happen and we would have been forgiving if an apology was offered but the waiter didn’t seem to care, no mention of trying to get the forgotten dishes out quickly or any other reassurances. We saw the same dish go out to other tables twice before our forgotten dishes arrived. No check backs to ask if our food was okay. When we took the service charge off at the end, the waiter didn’t attempt to engage with us to find out why, he took the bill away in silence. Interesting that management weren’t made aware about our forgotten starters or removal of service charge…. Good food was the only thing that made up for this disappointing service!

Where to begin!?…. # A Boxing Day Disaster at Browns Our eagerly anticipated festive celebration turned into a catastrophic experience. Despite meticulous planning and advance booking, Browns' incompetence shattered our holiday cheer. # Initial Missteps 1. *Unrequested extras*: Bottled water and wine glasses appeared uninvited. 2. *Neglected service*: Drinks orders were ignored, necessitating intervention from another waitress. # Culinary Catastrophe 1. *Missing main course*: Braised Blade of Beef, carefully selected months prior, was nonexistent. 2. *Heartless response*: The waiter's nonchalant attitude exacerbated our frustration. # Additional Affronts 1. *Dirty dishes*: Tea cups and fingerprint-smeared plates tainted our dining experience. 2. *Food contamination*: A coughing waiter jeopardized our meal's safety. 3. *Subpar cuisine*: The Festive Turkey meal fell woefully short of expectations. # Devastating Outcome We left hungry, disillusioned and financially unrecompensed, we were refunded our deposit and sent on our merry way. Late afternoon in the fog on Boxing Day, hungry and nowhere to go but back home! Browns' ineptitude ruined our special day and left me in tears.

Came to dine back in early December, as well as today. One of my favourite places to come in Nottingham, good food, drink and atmosphere. Mike looked after us really well too!

I’ve been a loyal Browns customer for years, but after tonight’s experience at the Nottingham branch, I won’t be returning. We were greeted by a rude waiter who made us feel unwelcome, telling us we were “late” (we were just 8 minutes past our 6:30 reservation). Four of us ordered the “Roast Root Vegetable, Walnut & Almond Tart” but were served a Nut Roast instead, with no explanation. When we asked the manager, she dismissed our concern, claiming it was “the same,” even though it clearly wasn’t. Service was inattentive—we had to ask for water three times. And to top it off, we were wrongly charged for a three-course festive menu we didn’t order. Overall, the service and food were far below expectations. Given this experience, I won’t recommend this location to anyone and won’t be returning.

I've been using this location for years. Unfortunately, they have gone downhill drastically. Had to ask twice to have a table cleaned to have a drink. Then, we are seated at a table to be told that you might have to move you if you are in the way? Starter was great, but the ribeye steak was 50% inedible but no sign of any staff that was interested. Gave up and paid the bill and moved on to a decent location for dessert.

Went for Breakfast. Very clean and lovely decor. Food was lovely nd staff efficient and very friendly. We will definitely return.

The restaurant has a lovely ambience, making it the perfect spot for our annual Christmas celebration. We return every year for our Christmas do and the staff are always very helpful, ensuring a great experience.

Wonderful dining experience! I had my birthday celebration here and the environment is absolutely nice. It’s perfect to take some good pictures with your friends and family. We ordered a lobster and steak combo set which indeed surprised me because so far the steaks I had in Nottingham were quite disappointing (overcooked or not tender at all). The main reason I am writing this comment is because of the service provided. The witness served us that night was very nice and kind. Knowing that it was my birthday, she gave me a little dessert plate with “happy birthday” written on it at the end of the meal. I know some restaurants also provide this kind of service but it’s definitely not a must.

The food is very good - tasty, nicely presented and pretty good value . The service was also very good - friendly and amenable . All in all a very enjoyable experience

Had dinner today after our daughter’s graduation. Ilyas our waiter was absolutely lovely. Food was very good and she was treated to a little congratulatory desert. A very good experience.

I booked this restaurant for my daughter’s 21st. She is a student in Notts and we planned to drive down and have a pre birthday meal together with her boyfriend. I specifically requested that a fuss be made in some way at the end of the meal, I even phoned to confirm that they would do that. Sadly due to a painful and unexpected injury I ended up in hospital the weekend of our trip and so couldn’t make it. I called to reduce the number from 4 to 2 and again asked for a fuss to be made. My daughter and her boyfriend enjoyed their lunch and decided to not order dessert, got their bill which I had covered and left. Absolutely nothing was done to acknowledge her special birthday and I feel really sad that my requests for special attention were promised but never carried out. It simply wasn’t the attention to detail that you assured me she’d receive 😢😢😢😢😢

Took our daughter to Browns (Nottingham) to celebrate her birthday and can’t recommend the restaurant highly enough. Staff, menu and quality of food were all very good and we will be booking again for sure.

Wow, sometimes you really leave a restraint gobsmacked! Today was one of those times. Finlay was genuinely the best waiter I have ever seen. The food was delightful and the atmosphere was electric. Thank you so much for a lovely evening. We will be back. All the best your favourite forest fan!

Sorry, only four stars due to back breaking chairs 🫠 Chairs from Hell 😂 I’d booked here for my mums 80th birthday. We were excited as Browns has a good reputation and. It looks lovely. The food was nice, the staff were good however, sadly the experience was spoilt by (This might sound ridiculous 🤦‍♀️) THE CHAIRS!! 🪑 We are in the restaurant and the chairs suited the decor really well but that’s as far as it goes! After about 30 minutes we all started complaining on how uncomfortable these chairs are! We were a group of 6 and not all elderly! The youngest of us being 19 who also said the chairs were awful! We stayed just over two hours and spent £250 between us so comfort to me should be at the top of the list in any restaurant alongside the food. Honestly, the chairs need replacing! 🫠 I did notice a few tables with benches and a couple of chairs which looked more inviting and I was tempted to swap mine but they were already taken 😂

Browns: Where the Burger Wants to Escape and the Fish Glows in the Dark We thought we’d try Browns despite some alarm bells from the reviews. It seemed to be either a dazzling culinary triumph or a culinary train wreck. Sadly, we found ourselves firmly on the side of the wreckage. Let’s start with the atmosphere. The decor is lovely, the kind of place where you expect the food to be as stylish as the surroundings. But beware: the seating consists of those hard, Parisian-style café chairs, clearly designed to test both your patience and your lower spine. After 20 minutes, we began eyeing the plush booths on the restaurant’s outskirts like castaways spotting dry land. We eventually moved, albeit feeling slightly judged by the waiting staff. Speaking of staff: the meet and greet was like an awkward school reunion—polite but distant. Two young lads at the bar were engrossed in solving the world’s problems (or maybe their weekend plans) before reluctantly acknowledging us. Once we reached the table, the service was fine—well, up to the point they forgot the golden rule of asking how the food was. Perhaps they feared the answer. We started with bread and goat’s cheese, which was actually good! For a brief moment, we believed we might be in for a treat. Oh, the naivety. Then the mains arrived, and it all went downhill faster than a greased otter on a waterslide. I ordered the burger (£18), which arrived looking like it needed therapy. The fries? Standard frozen chips so devoid of personality they could moonlight as cardboard. The burger patty itself was the culinary equivalent of a shrug, slouched in a bun that seemed to have been sourced from a motorway truck stop. The garnish was limp, the cheese was joyless, and the tomato had all the appeal of a wet flannel. Honestly, I wouldn’t have been surprised if the burger had written “help me” in ketchup across the plate. I’ve had better meals at Wetherspoons, and that’s saying something. My partner’s sea bass was even more of a tragedy. It arrived looking like it had spent the afternoon sunbathing in radioactive sludge—straight out of the Sea of Chernobyl. The texture? Wet, floppy, and deeply uninspired. It was paired with hunks of chorizo so overpowering they tasted like they were trying to compensate for something. At least the chorizo had some flavour; the fish, meanwhile, was on life support. Let’s talk value for money—or rather, the complete lack of it. Browns charges premium prices for food that wouldn’t cut it at a greasy spoon. You can’t just drape some fancy decor over a subpar kitchen and call it fine dining. It’s like sticking a bow tie on a sloth and expecting it to conduct an orchestra. As we sat there, picking at our meals and contemplating life’s injustices, it became clear that Browns is relying on its glossy reputation to distract from its glaring flaws. But here’s the thing: in a cost-of-living crisis, people are not in the mood to pay top dollar for mediocrity. I can already hear the manager drafting a response. Something like, “We’re terribly sorry to hear this. Our food is usually of the highest standard, and we take your feedback very seriously.” Save it. There’s no need to go through the motions. If your reviews are anything to go by, consistency is clearly an issue, and until you sort it out, Browns will remain a textbook example of style over substance. In conclusion, Browns is like that friend who promises you a fantastic evening but spends the whole night glued to their phone: all hype, no follow-through. Would we go back? Only if we fancied a masterclass in disappointment. Hope springs eternal, but after this experience, I suspect even hope would walk out halfway through the main course.

Delicious Sunday lunchtime meal! Our first visit to this restaurant. Nice spacious dining area, good service and excellent food - presentation was first class! Our thanks to Sarah our waitress, a great ambassador for Browns! Located close to Nottingham city centre. Will definitely visit again.

Food was average. Chicken in ceaser salad cold (i asked). Truffle and Parmesan fries nothing special. Needed to be seasoned and more truffle. Parmesan should have been a bit melted. Underwhelmed

The restaurant is beautiful and elegantly decorated. The food was delicious, very well presented and made of quality ingredients. On the day, all the staff were kind, patient and very helpful. We had a group booking to celebrate a friend’s birthday. Our needs were listened and catered too. Someone always responded promptly to any questions we had about our booking. I found the entire booking system very organised and efficient. This was my second time at Brown’s and won’t be my last. I always have a pleasant dining experience whenever I visit. Well done guys!

We celebrated our sons birthday at Browns Restaurant at the weekend. The food was lovely and the service was even better, my son had a great birthday thanks to all the staff. Food was very below average to say it’s meant to be a fine dining experience. Peppercorn sauce was cold and chicken skewers were more skewer than chicken! Worst part of it all was the rude waiter. I asked the mixed race girl with braids who was our server who the waitress was that served me my food and she kept switching names between Harrison and Finlay. I don’t know wether this was a honest mistake or she just didn’t want her friend to be in trouble because his manners were at an all time low when he tried to question me about what I had ordered telling me the food I was eating wasn’t mine when it clearly was. Embarrassed and infuriated I would not return, ever. Thanks for a rubbish experience. For such an ambient restaurant the waiting staff fall devastatingly below par.

Love Brown's, my partner and myself go every now and then, always have a great time, food is always amazing too. The Sunday dinners are my favorite and was the reason we ended up going initially.

We booked a table of 7 for a family birthday yesterday. The staff were attentive to our requirement for a gluten free menu and looked after my Mum’s requirements as well as expected. However the rest of the meal was poor. We all ordered starters, only 6 arrived, we’d all finished ours before the 7th came out. And it happened again on the mains, only 6 out of 7 dishes came out, and 3 out of the 4 sides ordered didn’t come out either. Two of us had steaks which were cold, and all the fries were luke warm. The prawn linguine had only three prawns in it. We were really disappointed. The waiter blamed the kitchen, and our complaints were poorly handled. Based on last nights experience I wouldn’t go again nor recommend it.

Went for afternoon tea yesterday. Really disappointed with the value for money aspect. We have had some good food in the past from the establishment & thought it would be a bit a nice change to enjoy the experience. If you go & book afternoon tea, don't expect too much. It won't be there. Staff were lovely & attentive as usual .

Food above expectations and enjoyed. Lights turned down half was through dinner and we saw some diners using the torch on their phones to see the menu. Service staff could have helped customers more to access benches behind tables by moving them out slightly and then back again. I moved my own but did observe an older lady struggle to access a seat. Also, I do prefer that waiting staff actually write down the order in some way as it saves having to ask twice. Sorry to mention the little niggles, but these are the service items that elevate a restaurant.

Visited here on Friday 18th October. I will say the service was outstanding. I know there is a cost of living etc but to pay £40 for steak that came with just fries in a metal cup and a sprinkle of watercress is taking the Mickey a little no actually a lot. I eat every weekend in Nottigham and this is I think the worst value for money thus far.

Great atmosphere, food was of high quality. Nice to have the pianist although a little loud as we were unable to hear each other at times. Staff serving us were very attentive. The gentleman on the welcome desk could have been happy to see us and a smile would make the welcome so much nicer. Just a suggestion, the multiple spray bottles of cleaning agent hanging from the service counter near the tables is unnecessary. Such a beautiful room and ruined by these. Also remember to serve the well presented plates from the chef with the logo at the top facing the guest. This is how he would have plates it.

Great menu with a wide range of dishes to choose from. All our food was delicious. Highly recommend the sourdough as a starter for the table.

The decor and atmosphere create a really upmarket feel to your restaurant. The food is all really tasty but is also affordable. Finally your staff are friendly but don't step over the mark, making guests feel welcome and valued. It is this combination of factors that means we keep coming back.

Very Disappointing Experience - Abysmal Service We went to Browns in Nottingham for a birthday treat. It was around 18:00 and the restaurant was not busy at all. Unfortunately, the sides did not arrive with the mains. When we complained, we were told they would be a few minutes. In fact, we had completely finished our mains before they eventually arrived. We were offered only a passing apology, and still charged the 10% service charge. A very disappointing birthday experience. In future we will stick with Cote in West Bridgford.

We came to Nottingham for our nephew's wedding. We haven't been to brown's for a number of years but after our experience of a later night drink on the way to our hotel last night, we happened across Kezron the bartender. A few cocktails later, we booked to eat here tonight. Kezron was just the most affable guy. And tonight, Illias was our server and once again, the service was amazing. Food great etc. But really, these two guys are a credit to Brown's and the company should be delighted to have them in their employ.

Browns is meant to be an upscale restaurant. The decor looks great, the food is decent but everything in between is terrible. Table of 5, with young children and it was my wife’s birthday. Sit down and not a single person attends our table to even acknowledge we are there. They took water to a table of 2 that arrived after ours. I asked to make an order twice and was told to wait a minute and yet 15 minutes later no one arrived. I didn’t want to give this restaurant my money seeing as they couldn’t be bothered to recognise our existence let alone take our order. I would avoid this place as they don’t care about their service or customers at all. So many other places close by that do value customer service.

We came for dinner before a show at the Nottingham Playhouse and even though we didnt have a reservation the team found us a table. Our server Finlay was great for a chat and very helpful, and the food was fantastic. Highly recommend

Great evening here, with our best friends, we drank VC champagne and sat outside, which was a lovely area. we ordered picky bits to eat and all shared them. Very nice indeed highly recommended.

We came as a group for a work dinner. It was OK. The atmosphere is nice and elegant. We were greeted nicely, but the staff stemmed short as ordering took ages. The menu was OK, less effective for Muslims with a limited vegetarian variety. The mains were tasty I had the pea gnocchi with broccoli side (this was delicious esp the sauce). My colleagues has the lobster linguine which looked yummy. For dessert we had a variety and I liked the creme brulee (pictured) . The sticky toffee (pictured) looked great too. Overall was a good experience but I wish it had more veg options or halal ones for dinner.

We have dietary requirements and allergies and Browns were really accommodating and made sure we could eat something and felt confident that they would deal with the allergies with care. Our server (Reka) was also the loveliest person and made sure we were well looked after throughout our visit. She also recommended me a Hungarian dessert wine which she was familiar with being Hungarian herself and it did not disappoint! The food was fantastic, the gnocchi dish was outstanding!!

Great service and food, we at first thought there wasn't a lot of food but by the end we were both comfortable but not stuffed and thought the quality was good.

Have used Browns for years now. Top service from Dillon today. Good place for meetings, food and beers. Cheers mate.

5 of us decided to head for breakfast so booked here. Really good food , lovely building and the prices were spot on. Great place and we'll surely visit again
