The oldest pub in Glasgow with so many fine whisky to taste. A great place to spend an afternoon.

Absolutely fantastic bar. A staple of Glasgow. Great service. Amazing atmosphere. Fantastic service and wonderful friendly and welcoming barmaids. Will definitely be back to sample the food!

We stopped in for a drink, had some delicious bar style pizza, bartender was nice enough to suggest a wonderful whisky I had never heard of before. Great atmosphere. 10/10 would go again if I'm ever back in Glasgow.

We could not have enjoyed ourselves more than we did at Scotia Bar. The 2 fine folks behind the bar were hilarious and a delight to chat with. The pizza was tasty and just what we needed after a long travel day.

Oh my word, good luck trying to spend any money at this delightful pub. The Tennent's pints were £2 and a splash of the Malt of the Month, Bruichladdich, was £2.99. We visited here three consecutive nights while staying at a hotel that was walking distance away along the River Clyde. Different music every night, some traditional and some rockin'. Mostly the same hustling bar crew. By Friday night, the crowd was so large we sometimes found ourselves standing outside, which is allowed up until 10 p.m. Even with the larger crowd, bar service was never slow and the experience was just as pleasant. I'm sad this pub is 6,000 km from my home!

Used to love the Scotia when I lived in Glasgow. Great place for a pint of Guinness. Lovely atmosphere, friendly bar staff, proper old school traditional pub with loads of character.

The place is very good! The waitress was very friendly, she recommended us a beer from there (T) and it was very well drafted and delicious! The bar is worth a stop for its little bills hanging with clothespins...leave one out of 5 on your visit!! 😉. Furthermore, they did not give a pamphlet with a guide to the pubs with live music of the month and days. We will repeat if we return!

Was told “you’ve had too much to drink, you’re slurring your words”. Despite being nowhere else this evening. Happy to give any other venue my money and looking forward to not coming here again. Presumably this female member of staff with long blond hair is part of the licensing board or presumes she has an important job. If the bar is too busy, just say or have security to enforce that.

Easy the best pub in glasgow with live music and good craic

Beautiful historic pub, with excellent beers and low average prices, I spent a wonderful evening, I would recommend this place if you are interested in a place with local people without tourists.

Bartenders are rushed and not very friendly. Not sure where the reviews are coming from that say they are but the locals are great. Made us feel welcome.

Great atmosphere, really busy, and very friendly. Despite feeling very much like a locals pub it also had an incredibly welcoming vibe to tourists like us.

If you are looking for the best Scottish pub experience go no farther. Friendly staff, lots of music and welcoming clientele. Best night at a pub we have had in ages. Go early for the best seat!

We visited on Tuesday August 7th. We could only have a quick drink we really had a great time. The lady bartender was fun & helpful. I would definitely visit again

First time in Glasgow and the pub is next door to my hotel. Stopped in for a pint and ended up getting a pie. BBQ chicken pizza was great. People were amazing as well as the staff. Live music really set the atmosphere.

My night was ruined by coming here as a rude bar tender was hostile towards me. I’m not sure if maybe she has just come out of prison (neck tattoo and looks the type ) but please train your staff properly, there is no excuse , you are a business at the end of the day and there is a standard of service you should be adhering to. Avoid .

A blonde bar tender with a tattoo on her neck made me feel very unwelcome. Me and my friends all entered meeting a very hostile welcome, we were all ask for ID which we gave happily, I ordered one pint of beer. After over an hour of nursing my beer i decided to go back to the beer to get another. I was told that i, personally, was “too drunk” and wasn’t to be served anymore. I took this on the chin as not to ruin any of my friends nights. Not minutes later she came to our table to tell us we all had to leave because of myself personally. This is obviously a personal attack and she had a vendetta against me. I had one singular beer the whole night and she made my whole friend group leave the bar. Looking back as soon as we walked in this woman didn’t like us as she made her colleague serve us and she clearly didn’t like me, maybe because I had tattoos and a funny hair colour, assuming I was a student. I was made to feel very unwelcome and was victimised by this witch of a bartender. I hope in future this bar hires workers that are far more welcoming. This stings even more as I recommended all my friends to this bar for a nice time to be met with such a hostile member of staff. She truly picked on me for no reason. I’ve lived here for six years but would certainly not recommend to any visiting tourist. This is the first time I’ve ever felt necessary to make a review that’s how strongly i feel about the way I’ve been treated.

If you're a live music person this is the place to go and if you're not go anyway. I visited from Florida and absolutely adored this old gem. Can't wait to come back!

Vibrate and the staff is very welcoming

We were met by a very racist women blonde bartender. We are group of 5 friends, she insisted to show our id before we even taken a seat, never said hello or welcome, with very rude attitude. We are international students, over 30s, one of our friends happened to not bring her Id and wasn’t planning to have alcoholic drink anyway. And the women insisted that we all leave the place if not every one has their Ids. It was really frustrating, we just wanted to have some together in a cosy looking pub, her attitude was very aggressive and rude, not Scottish like at all. Very sad experience for all of us cause we used to come here before, and stuff was very friendly at that time…

Great place for those of us who want to take a dip into nostalgia. Music was amazing, the beer twice so - the only problem was that they only had chips and pizza as food option and we wanted the whole pub experience, but that didn't take away too much from it.

Look no further for a traditional pub. Plenty of drinks to choose from and great surroundings with a feeling of history.

Not a lot of seating or standing space for customers, pub is taken over with an absolutely massive bar, stayed for one drink, not relaxing at all.

If you want the real deal, this is the place to go. Not big on food though, but they stock quite a variety of whisky, beers and other beverages.

We only had drinks, but a really authentic place and recommended for a passing drink in Glasgow.

We went here before the Scotland game as it's my nephew's local when he's at the local college. Very friendly, cheap drink! Will definitely return, a proper pub! We went to the upstairs part. Bar staff excellent!

Stopped over in Glasgow heading up to Fort William to start the Great Glen Way. Popped in for a quick drink so we thought. The place was rammed at 4pm on the Saturday and only ended up leaving at 6pm because we'd made a dinner reservation for later. We were made very welcome by everyone and the place had a great vibe and great selection of beers.

One of the best bars in the toon, great vibe and the best staff, friendly and chatty great to see them interact and help the foreigners that came in, we were in all afternoon till evening and seen day and night staff all brilliant!

Didn't eat. Great banter. Great staff, awesome punters. Best pub in Glasgow and that also came from my Dad who went there from the 60's until 2020. There's a $5cad bill hanging up wi my wee Da's name on it.

Last visited here in the late 70's early 80's,it was then and remains a "real" pub and,is what I remembered it all those years ago albeit the drinks are a wee bit dearer 😄, great music in the background taking me back a few decades with a welcoming atmosphere,it won't be as long till my next visit Scotia 🏴󠁧󠁢󠁳󠁣󠁴󠁿👍
