The Scarsdale Tavern in Kensington and Chelsea

Popped in for a few drinks after a visit to design museum. Extremely friendly pub with a chilled vibe and an esoteric clientele. We didn't eat there but the food looked and smelt lovely. Bar staff were very friendly and I'd highly recommend a visit if you're in the area.

We visited because of the good reviews, but the experience was disappointing. No one greeted us or guided us to a table, and despite waiting and even waving at a waitress who saw us, we were completely ignored. If they don’t want customers, we’re happy to take our business elsewhere. Worst pub experience in London so far.

What has happened to this previously great pub? On visiting today (25 years a customer) I find that most unwelcome sign of a pub in decline I.e. reserved signs on tables , not in the restaurant area,but in the pub area. Also all tables were set with cutlery and place settings. So even if a table had not been reserved, it didn’t invite a drinker in. No wonder pubs are closing.

Amazing pub. Best mash potatoes and steak and ale pie I've ever had. Food is amazing, great atmosphere. It's a hidden gem. I feel good after going here. You should go.

Lovely spot and tastefully decorated English pub restaurant. Good atmosphere and service. Food a little disappointing on the occasion I went. Chips undercooked and fish a little less than crispy enough. If you say triple cooked chips on the menu and then serve less than once cooked, it leaves the punter feeling a little let down. Hopefully this was a one-off occurrence and I would try again in the hope of finding that to be the case.

An awesome local pub with magnificent Sunday roasts. Make sure you book in advance, it gets busy on weekends.

This place is consistently good. We have been frequenting Scarsdale Tavern as far back as ten years. It’s a great place to grab a beer and pub food with friends. There is indoor and outdoor seating. On a weekend, I’d recommend making a reservation if you have a large party. This visit we had 12 people in our group with a reservation. We were placed at tables side by side that accommodated six people each which was just fine. The pub is not very big, so accommodating a group of 12 isn’t easy. The staff is always friendly and helpful and food is consistently great. Great Pub.

Cuando se le preguntó si iba a comprobar si nuestra comida iba a venir después de 25 minutos (solo éramos personas comiendo) en realidad respondió “no está en mi descripción del trabajo “. Here’s the verdict. It feels like I spent a year in there. My beard grew long. I lost my hair. My debts grew. When I left, the world had changed. Pangea was back. Man had evolved and we no longer had pinky toes. I cried I was one of the fortunate ones: still had my pinky toes. Both of them, although one did seem a bit shriveled. When we got back to to our hotel, we found the mummified remains of my wife. My kids forever traumatized. So…thank you pub Plus: fish and chips were flavorless. They did gave me a 50% discount, though. (All kidding aside: food took foreeeeever. Won’t be returning. Plus: the world is a different place now)

Qué ha pasado con este lugar, llevo años yendo a la taberna Scardale y siempre he estado muy contenta con la comida. Ayer fuimos alrededor de las 3 pm y pedimos 2 pasteles de carne con puré y verduras de temporada. El puré era puré instantáneo de un paquete, la salsa también era de un paquete como oxo, las verduras eran inexistentes, el pastel se compró en algún lugar. Realmente decepcionante. Si puedo hacer puré fresco y salsa, el así llamado jefe de cocina debería hacerlo. El menú está lleno de pasta. El Scardale es conocido por los buenos alimentos honestos, traer de vuelta bangers y puré y el viejo menú, y dejar de usar ingredientes artificiales fáciles.

Used to be one of my favourite pubs but it’s changed under the new ownership. Food not quite as good, and it did not have the same warm atmosphere. Who tells paying customers to leave the table because they’re ’closing the section’ after they want to order another bottle of wine and there’s no where else to sit (plus we had already driving up a decent tab)? Prior management was much more hospitable who really understood how to treat customers, and had a much better trained staff. Crowd had sadly changed as well and no more fun music playing over the speakers. Not going to be on my short list for booking now.

Very nice typical pub, in a quiet street in Kensington, frequented by local people, has a pleasant outdoor space. Cuisine ranges from tandoori chicken, Italian burratina, to typical English stews. Fair prices

A lovely little ‘country pub’ in the city. Went in on a Friday night so it was very busy but had a lovely atmosphere - and lots of dogs; always a good sign. I sat at the bar and the friendly bar staff were attentive at making sure I had a drink. Price was reasonable.

Tucked round the back of High Street Kensington but worth finding. Lovely interior and great food selection. The braised beef pie was delicious and filling whilst the pan fried salmon was tasty but maybe a little dry. Shame the specials weren’t on the board. Only found out when the dinners next to us were told and would have preferred the sausages, but too late as we had already ordered.

Has been a favorite pub for almost 30 years. Good food. Should have had a better beer selection. Why doesn't a Fuller's pub serve a solid selection of Fuller's bottled beer? Best during the day. Very many people in the evening. And a bit too much stiff upper lip.

Had three fish and chips, which was very good, Guinness was alright there also. Quite liked the atmosphere and furniture.

Shady garden. Delightfull staff. Wednesday night live music is a hoot. Good prices on the alcohol. Book a table in advance if in a group. The food is really great and their restaurant space is small. Guys: please repair the loos and you'll deserve 5 stars.

A pub as we like them. Typical cuisine, very pleasant service, atmosphere... like a pub!

We had a lovely little dinner at the Scarsdale Tavern. I was happy to see the spring salad with quinoa, tomatoes, broad beans, chickpeas, and pumpkin seeds on the menu as the vegan option. It was a little smaller than I thought it was going to be, but it was very tasty. The service was quick and helpful with the menu and it seemed like they had some great specials for the night. We would definitely go back if we’re in the area again.

Still waiting after 30 mins for food. Pub does not look that busy. When food eventually arrives I will comment on it but wait is too long

Had a couple drinks and a couple of burgers. Pride was lovely as to be expected, good wine. Burgers were nice and well stacked, although I believe the chips were frozen and not hand made which is I do not prefer.

Best fish & and chips in London! Great service. You must have a reservation to sit in the dining area near the open kitchen or arrive before 1700 (5pm) There is seating outside and in the bar which require no reservations but it is very busy.

The Sunday roast dinner with lamb was delicious! So good that we went back to try the fish and chips the next evening. We were not disappointed. Just wish we had enough time to try more of their food, but we headed out of town the next day. Also, the staff was very friendly and the atmosphere was nice. Definitely recommend this place.

Good pub. Has garden pub, great in the summer. They have heat lamps so they can keep you warm in the winter days. But do wrap up. Good selection of beers also.

Bar service as good - but expensive. Didn’t have food, so can’t comment. But the tables were pretty gross - unknowingly ended up with previous visitors food on my hands from touching the tables. Was a shame but a nice pub

Sadly I feel something has really changed at this pub. Staff used to be great and now waitress and bar staff are quite moody, one waitress’s vibes were just off! Also our group was told we couldn’t have the table we wanted as it was reserved… only to turn and see the manager eating at said table?! In plain sight of us. Not cool. Food was good though

Lovely spot in Kensington. Went for a business dinner as part of a trade show. Service was brilliant; very attentive, friend and professional. Food was excellent despite being very busy. The only criticism I can say is I ordered the 'Isle of Wight' tomatoes to start and knowing them well, I can confidently say they were definitely not tomatoes from the Isle of Wight.. That said, a very good evening with great food & service in a lovely traditional pub.

This is an absolutely lovely local pub. I only slightly decrease the rating for service because it is always very slow due to the small bar size relative to the amount of customers they have. I have only eaten here a couple of times. but all those times it has been very good for pub food. I haven't actually had the burger but I've heard great things about it (including from the tables next to me that had it). This is essentially a locals pub that caters to that particular market, as they should, but that can mean that if you're not part of that market, you may get a lesser experience. As long as you are not coming here, expecting to get served within 1 minute for each round you're getting or something like that. Then I would say, this is an excellent pub to spend an afternoon or evening relaxing in. There are plenty of tables to work at and plenty of chatty locals to strike up a conversation with, regardless of which is your preference. I have never had a bad experience here that was their fault. The worst thing that's happened to me is have them having no outside tables left, which obviously is not on them.

We were given great, friendly service as soon as we arrived at 12pm open. Food and drink was tasty with a portion size that was ideal, as both of us struggled to finish the last few bits! Great, quiet location in west Kensington. This was a lovely place to stop by for a midweek lunch and I'd come again!

Excellent pub. Perfect for a drink after work, lovely well maintained hanging baskets and range of beers on tap. It smelled of a Sunday roast when I walked in and later had a pie and mash which was brilliant.

This is a real English pub where the old-time atmosphere has been perfectly preserved. The ambiance is authentic, making you feel like you've stepped back in time. The food is fantastic—we thoroughly enjoyed our fish and chips, which were cooked to perfection. The entire setting adds to the charm. Highly recommended. Period.

Lovely pub with a marvellous outdoor terrace which gets busy in warm weather. Adults are still allowed to smoke there while enjoying a drink or some nice food. £13.55 for a pint of Cornish Orchards cider and a pint of Frontier lager.

Always a wonderful pub service and experience

We are locals and we had great expectations given the good reviews but we were left disappointed. The food was below average and the prices were much too expensive given the quality of the food.

Great service and awesome vibes! We went during their live performance night, and the singer was great! Ordered their fish and chips a classic, as well as their toffee pudding! I personally found the fish and chips huge, but it was worth every bite. it tasted delicious and very fresh! 10/10 would recommend!

My husband and I recently spent a weekend in London and booked dinner in the Scarsdale one evening. The atmosphere was great all ages are there, as well as some four legged friends, everyone is welcome. We had a lovely young man looking after us, Loren who could not have been more pleasant and efficient. My husband had steak and I has fish and chips both were delicious. We will definitely be back.

I don’t know why it took me over fifteen years to review our favourite Pub. Or Dog Pub. The atmosphere is wonderful. Especially during the weekend when the number of dogs is competing with the number of hoomans. The staff is always lovely and they all love dogs. Rexy, my DoggieDog always drags me to the Pub! I have had many beers just to keep her happy! I did not have any food in a long time so I cannot comment on this topic. They also invite a really good musician, Tom Jaworski. The Summer Party this year was a delight! Even the doggies were dancing!
