The Saracen's Head Steakhouse in Stoke-on-Trent

We tried their pizzas and they are delicious and very good value. There's a variety of toppings to choose from for the 9 inch pizzas and the cost is a brilliant £4.95. Our toppings had a nice amount of cheese on and the pizza base had a very authentic taste and texture. The pizzas were cooked to perfection in the pub's wood-fired oven. You have to try these pizzas folks

Last time I went didn't enjoy but before then the food was very nice

Staff were very good. But sadly the food let them down had a family meal festival menu food was cold and no taste to it. i had salmon but the source was cold there was a Yorkshire pudding and gravy on same plate with roast potatoes which were also cold. Cheese board was dry sent it back. Not a good experience all told.wont be going again

This is our favourite place to go. The owners are absolutely wonderful and can't do enough for you. The food is out of this world. The service is superb. Lovely ambience. Can't recommend highly enough.

Booked here not knowing it was closed on a Monday. However still received a call to confirm that as a large family table this would be fine to accommodate. I've never been been before but our family live near by and recommended to us. Food was great and the warm feeling from the couple on the night was brilliant to. Thanks again we really enjoyed it

Well, what more can I say. What a fantastic couple that this run this establishment. Paul & Emma were fantastic hosts. Opened the restaurant just for myself and my family (as they are usually closed on a monday), giving up their day off for us. The food was outstanding, cooked perfectly, and compliments to the chef!!. They made our family get together a lovely experience. Would definitely recommend coming here. We will 100% be back. Visited for a 2nd time, not quite the same as our first visit, however it was still a good experience. Very good value for money.

Took my girlfriend out for a romantic meal and then found that the restaurant has an adjoined bar where several classic songs were being murdered. This was very loud and ruined the restaurant atmosphere. Shame as the food was amazing.

Food was spot on, had Sunday roasts 10/10! Great service too. Would definitely recommend to anybody.

We booked for a family Christmas meal of 13, we ordered off the festive menu, we sent in our pre order, starters were ok, then the mains came out, the waitress tipped my plate pouring hot gravy all over me, burnt my arm and ruined a brand new dress, ended up going home to get changed by the time we got back, everyone else had finished eating, the rest of the family weren't impressed, my sister is vegetarian, ordered the vegetarian option, it came with pigs in blankets and beef gravy, most of the food was cold, hardly any of the mains were eaten, totally disappointed, ruined our family Christmas meal, we didn't pay for the mains just the starters and drinks, certainly won't be returning.

The food was amazing, the steak just melted in your mouth! Staff were very attentive. All round a great experience

I can not comment on the food as I have NOT YET enjoyed it and if you take in to consideration how I felt and was treated as a new customer makes me want to book a table for my family. Facilities also well looked after. The only thing I can fault... is the weather. It was raining at the time. Welcome to England

Great place to eat, beautiful food all home cooked and fresh we had drinks starters and mains and couldn't fault anything absolutly beautiful... Staff were very friendly and helpful we got served by a lovely young girl, and also met the owners they all make you feel so welcome We shall defiantly be returning again Thankyou ☺️☺️

Table of 4 ordered at 535 pm got garlic bread at 550pm then waited 50 mins for mains to arrive 2 had fish and chips which was small and very rubbery ,1 had centre cut which was good, I had ribeye cooked medium, it arrived raw and cold in the middle , sent it bk ,5 mins later, same steak arrived with the cut end pieces cooked a little more but the centre still raw and cold , I ate 2 onion rings of the plate and a forkful of potato ( very dry). The manager came over and all she was willing to do was not charge me for a steak that I did not eat ! I asked was she going to give us any drinks etc ( all on soft drinks) and she refused and said she wasn't charging for a meal that wasn't eaten . Disgusting attitude from the manager and no apology given that I was served a raw cold steak , Will certainly never go there again or recommend any person to go there.

Arrived at 6.15pm for a 6.30 booking but the food didn't arrive until 7.30pm, the food was delicious my only criticism was the peppercorn sauce was more like water and the service to slow the staff were very friendly and helpful

Staff are amazing Paul and Emma were extremely professional and helpful. Food was amazing, came from Scotland cannot recommend highly enough. Second time coming first time was not so good but tonight was amazing. One very happy Scotish guy and family.

I visited this amazing steakhouse with the wife and my son tonight me and my partner had the 8oz steakhouse burger with chips and a side of onion rings may I just add this comment bloody amazing my son had a 2 course meal with pudding absolutely amazing food and definitely will be back at some point. The staff were absolutely outstanding , polite, very professional, this steakhouse has entertainment on aswell at weekends with kids being allowed in til 10 I can not fault this restaurant one but Emma and her team are absolutely awesome very welcoming and friendly which is hard to come by at most restaurants this one deserves more than 5 stars absolutely friendly too. Will be back for another meal soon and I will also see you in December 2023 with my 2023 winning solo take care I will see you all soon thanks for your amazing work absolutely incredible.

Great tasting food, Cajun chicken pasta & Cajun chicken with mash and Mediterranean vegetables all nice.

Called here for Sunday lunch..I'm really surprised the pub wasn't packed..food was excellent!!!..nice friendly staff and five empty plates says we were all satisfied..even took a little lunch back for the dog..would definitely call again..and try a steak next time ..

The staff was rude when we asked her about what one of the stale extras was and (the waiter moaned in front of us. The stake was not properly cooked (raw).and the waffle was like straight from a supper market.

Have been using saracens now for some years and always get the same good service has changed hands recently but the couple who now run saracens are very pleasant and extremely accommodating a group of 23 people all served at the same time speaks volumes for their organisational and cooking skills would recommend a visit to anyone

When this was first converted it was busy, the food was good. Now when I go the Sunday lunches don't have enough carrots or Yorkshires for everyone. And this was on a quiet day. The steak I had there the time before wasn't cooked right. This place has potential but the reviews don't match the quality of the food unfortunately.

Kept on asking every few minutes to order then once they received our order we we never saw them again until the bill arrived the food was acceptable wouldn't go again

Family owned, independent pub that deserves support as they are clearly focused on quality. We visited, in passing, from out of town. Honestly weren’t too sure from first impressions, the sun attracting a crowd out the front, but so glad we did stay to eat. The food was outstanding. Quality rump steak cooked to perfection! The sides were a welcome change with dauphinoise potatoes, black pudding and haggis as options. The black pudding the best we’ve ever tasted, a real thick cut, cooked perfectly crisp and not at all greasy. A nice chilled atmosphere which deserved to be busier (Thursday evening). Excellent service from friendly professional staff. Highly recommend, which does not come often from us. Bravo!

2nd time coming in today 1st was for a steak and it was cooked to perfection exactly how I asked for it to be done. Then came in with the family for a Sunday roast couldn't fault it at all. The new management came to say hello and Emma was so polite and helpful will definitely be coming in again.

Second time we've visited on a Sunday evening. The food is lovely. What is disappointing is that each time we've come, half the menu is unavailable. Either order more stock, or don't bother opening on a Sunday. Shame because the food is great.

Had been recommended to go here, so I had big expectations....but I was really disappointed 😞

Not many people in, food took a long time and appeared like it had been played then reheated in the oven as the mash had skinned over and some of the carrots had burnt, won't be returning.

We have been going to Saracens Head Steak House every month since 2019, but last visited in January 2023 shocked at the prices which they charged 50% more, I only use to order the 7.5oz rump steak which was £10.50 and now you have to pay for a 10oz rumb steak for £18.95 and there's no choice for the smaller steak available anymore I completed understand of living cosy, price but it is not reducular what Saracens made.

Lovely atmosphere and friendly staff. The Chicken Pasta was soooooo good.

We called in last night for a midweek evening out. We were met by staff who welcomed us to the restaurant and took us to our table. We know the staff here and all of them are so friendly and very helpful it always a pleasurable experience when we visit. We chose the Pizza deal and can I say we were not disappointed. The pizza was so tasty and well presented. The service was first class and we had an amazing evening. Thank you so much

Worst steakhouse I've ever been in my life and staff was so rude when I told them my steak wasn't medium rare more like well done..the second steak came out even more cooked than first and all I got was attitude from the staff very disappointed that they don't know how cook a steak properly

Been in tonight (Friday) live entertainment on in pub side everyone very friendly staff brilliant can't do enough for you best pub in Stoke! Food was lovely 100% the place to go!

Had the wood fired pizzas as a takeaway, best pizza I've had for a long time. We had a steak and blue and a steak and prawn, the steak on the pizza was generous and the prawns were big fat king prawns ,lovely would definitely recommend.

Visited 25th Feb 2023, on entering found a warm welcome from the staff in the lovely casual comfy dining area, considering the place was getting busy and we were a table of 16 diners, we had a top notch experience, everyone's meals came out together, everyone got what they wanted with no ones dishes were missing, the food was exceptional and I take my hat off to the chef for delivering such quality dishes, each and everyone of us were very satisfied with how our steaks and burgers were cooked to perfection, whole night was run to clockwork with wonderful attentive staff and although it was our 1st visit we all agreed it wouldn't be our last. Highly recommended a visit. Big thumbs up.👍

I go to the Saracens quite often, really good atmosphere in a very homely space, the music is always on point and the food is delicious there is a pub side and a restaurant side which means you can have dinner quietly, and then go for drinks right next door. Try the rib eye stake, medium-rare, slightly more on the rare side, it's a winner.

Excellent food, first time coming here on Valentine's day. I felt sorry for the two waitresses who had to run an entire room full of covers. Would come again!

Can't fault the food, the food was absolutely delicious, very tasty steaks, very generous proton sizes, no criticism of the food at all! The service was a little lacking, took just over 30 minutes to get our drinks after we'd been seated and ordered the drinks, had to wait at the bar for someone to appear to ask for the bill as we waited around 20-30 mins following the collection of our dessert dishes and no-one had brought it or asked if we were ready for the bill. Just a bit slower than I would have expected. There were 2 other tables in while we were there and because of where they had been seated it was very difficult for us to get to the toilets as there wasnt really enough room to get past without really squeezing past them as they were eating. The toilets need a bit of a revamp, the lighting was poor. The lighting in the restaurant also kept flickering.

Went with a large group of people starters came out quite quickly and all seemed ok then after about 30 minutes mains came out. Serving staff were a bit confused with who's was who's.mine and another person's chicken was hard on the outside as if it had been under heat lamp for a long while

A nice setting for a meal out, the steak cut itself was very good and it was excellenty cooked throughout, however it was very bland and tasteless unfortunately, there was only a limited choice of steaks and no butchers cut type of meal such as a porterhouse.

Poor front of house, waiting on staff are not able to keep up with orders, no organisation when allocating waitress per table Food was below par, pasta undercooked. Out of the four people in our group, we marked the food 25 out of a possible 40. Harsh but the truth.

The quality and quantity of the food we had was excellent and will go back. It wasn't too expensive either.

We found this place by chance as we had some time to kill. The food was absolutely lovely as were the staff, everything was fresh and locally sourced food as well.

Food was amazing, staff were polite and attentive. We did have a wait on food due to traffic in the area delaying previous tables arrivals. However we were informed of this not long after ordering our food and frequently got updated on how long our food would be. We weren't given a drinks menu when we arrived, so upon ordering drinks we didn't really know what there was to choose from. I feel that would have made things easier as there were 5 of us all asking "do you have this or that? " The place is clean and looks lovely but personally for me it lacked an atmosphere/ambience there was no background music and the tables seemed quite closely placed together so we could literally hear the conversation from the next table and wary that they could hear us. Overall we had a nice evening, with good food that was reasonable priced. I just feel a few little tweaks would make it that bit better.

Breakfast at the Saracens is amazing. We had the large plate option full english. Delicious. Good quality ingredients and so much food. Will definately go there again when we fancy a good quality brekky. You can also get it outside of normal breakfast hours which is even better.

Honestly the best meal we have had in a long time. Staff were super attentive and even when a large table of 15 came in they didn't forget about our table of 2. If you get chance go eat here and the mushroom Stilton sauce is amazing.

Steak had to be replaced as it came overcooked first time, mistakes happen but it meant i wasn't eating with the people i went out to eat with... second try was good though. The others in the party enjoyed their food. Desert was generously sized, looked and tasted good. Coffee was genuinely awful, tasted extremely acidic so didn't drink it.

Surprisingly good... reasonably priced tasty food. Really enjoyed the atmosphere, service and food. The steak sauce, and sides were scrummy. Constructive feedback... Could have done with more seasoning and my steak was slightly over but that may have been due to the cooking method, that I don't think was the best for a fillet. Could do with some more options like a brisket, pulled pork, pork belly and have some more flexibility with allergens to improve the whole vibe and menu.

We have been there today for my birthday food was very disappointed

Went for 40th birthday my steak was full of sinew and basically inedible my daughter had veggie burger was very dry asked for a replacement which came when everyone else had finished I'm afraid gone downhill and won't be returning very dissatisfied sorry to say as I don't like leaving bad reviews.

The food is absolutely divine. Only gripe was that we were there a considerable amount of time as the service was very slow, also one member of staff was a little abrupt that we were slightly late when in fact we were on time but stood waiting a while for someone to greet us! This aside the food was well worth the visit and it wouldn't deter me from visiting again as every establishment has a busy night

We booked The Saracens Head to celebrate a special birthday and I anticipated some hiccups due to the size of the party (there were 17 of us) but I couldn't have been more wrong. We had one issue that we were informed of early in the day (no pizza oven) so were able to change a couple of things and after that it was smooth sailing. Staff & kitchen were fantastic getting everything out to us. Everyone very friendly and patient in waiting for me to read who had ordered what and the food was incredibly good. Thank you all for making it a lovely night

Waitress was mustard..and food excellent the black pudding and haggis starter is the best starter in the world
