The Orange Tree Bar and Grill in Stoke-on-Trent

We arrived at The Orange Tree and shown to a table. The waiter was pleasant, he took our drinks order. All four of us had different starters. At least two of them were no where near hot enough. We carried on eating them, as it becomes very uncomfortable complaining. But when our mains were placed on the table, my dinner was stone cold. I explained this to a waitress and she took it away to fix this. The rest of my family carrying on eating whilst I waited. Out it came, the waitress advised me to be careful as the plate was very hot - it was, but again the chicken was still cold. I asked her to feel it, and yes she said it was still cold too. The waiter apologised and offered to remove the price of one of the bottles of wine off the bill. Although it’s a gesture of good will, it doesn’t help the fact that I hadn’t eaten. It’s a total disgrace that this restaurant is serving cold food. It wasn’t even warm after they tried to fix it. Going into restaurants and spending any amount of money to dine and spend precious time with family or friends is completely ruined by serving cold food - it’s just not good enough. I felt extremely embarrassed having to complain, sitting and waiting whilst everyone else was eating. Other customers smirking and listening to every word I was saying - awful. There was also a sommelier, I presume as she served our wine, who was as cold as the food. Maybe needs a refresh in customer service. There wasn’t any toilet roll in the ladies, and the tiled floor in the restaurant was as slippery as the solid ice on the carpark - in and around the disabled spaces. Hideous place.

Well I must admit standards have slipped considerably. We’ve not been in for a while to The Orange Tree and can’t imagine we’ll be rushing back. Sat in bar area. Went up got drinks. Then went up to ask for a menu. Then we went to bar to order food (during this time, bear in mind not one member of staff had approached us). Ordered food and paid for it which ridiculously included a service tip!!! But embarrassed into ‘if you want the tip removing we’ll have to get management’. Food arrived, all lovely. Got ourselves another drink. Wanted half a Neck Oil. Husband queried price as he’d paid but it was £6.50. Server realised so ended up with 2 halves which I did not want! Gave up waiting for someone to clear the dishes from our table so we did this ourselves and put them on another table. There were 4 people in next to us (2 couples who were obviously regulars) as whilst sat there 4 members of staff came chatting to them, looking through holiday photos with complete disregard to any other customers!

We called in here on a whim for dinner, having not been for some time (due to being fairly unimpressed last time). It seems that not a lot has changed, in fact, perhaps it's a little worse this time around. The problem is that the food quality doesn't really match the pricing, and I can't help but feel there's a level of pretentiousness in their offering. Starters came - nothing spectacular, and sadly only luke-warm, but otherwise perfectly fine. The mains courses were also fine, although sadly, my partners meal arrived cold. The staff were quick to return it to the kitchen and after 5 minutes, it returned from the kitchen on a hot plate, but sadly the food was still cold. The management refunded this meal, and took the price of a bottle of wine off the bill, which was appreciated, but sadly still doesn't make up for one of the party not being fed. Unfortunately, we probably won't return here - there's other restaurants in the area with comparable pricing that deliver a much better product. The Orange Tree simply doesn't live up to expectations.

Had a lovely family meal. Food was brilliant, the staff were amazing and polite, shout out to Fiona and Emily, they were so good with our daughter to! I would recommend the orange tree to anyone

A great experience all round, lovely atmosphere, great drinks. Wonderful to see a strong hand at the helm in Andy who's running a fantastic venue.

Visited for breakfast. Quality was okay, quantity was lacking. Smallest portion of beans I've ever seen - pathetic. Served tea in dishes still wet with dirty dishwater that we had to wipe off ourselves. Sneaking a service charge on at the end leaves a bad taste in the mouth. Obvious focus on looking good rather than doing good. Won't be back.

Had a lovely Sunday roast, so much nicer than having to do it at home. Have to complement the staff here as it was a late booking which was kindly sorted by Andrew.

First visit here, was surprised to see the restaurant bursting at the seams for a Thursday evening. Our table was booked for 7pm, but we had to wait half an hour. The bar area gets packed very quickly so it can be a bit awkward having to squeeze to let people past. However the service was friendly and prompt despite how busy the place was. It is probably sink or swim for workers here and they certainly deal with it well. The two courses for £22 is decent value, the chicken tenders were excellent. The burger for a main was pink in the middle (perfect), with a nice cheese sauce and bacon on. My only complaint was it was a little over salty, but the burger size was decent. The onion rings as a side are huge, you only need a portion to share really. This is the first pub I've been in serving the new version of Moretti with the salt in, which is a very smooth pint, but pricey at £6.50. They do have Heineken 0% on draft which is £5, always nice to have a zero beer on draft. The ambience is nice but it can get loud especially I imagine being close to Christmas. The decorations looked great and it had a cosy feeling. Another excellent Paragon venue!

Despite being really busy I think the staff handle the volume of people really well. Food and drinks excellent, staff work really well as a team so there r no delays. It's not until you look around and see so many people that you realise how busy this restaurant gets. Great team work, service with a smile and hats off to the kitchen staff for constantly turning out great high quality food

Had a great afternoon Christmas lunch at the Orange Tree with family and friends, fantastic service by Talia who really was on the ball and really made our lunch fabulous.

A mixed review… service and quality of food was amazing! However, really not very good with allergies. Once I’d added my allergies to the filter I ordered and was told that the filter does not include cross contamination (use of the fryer) which included most the items on the filter. Therefore I was left with a selection of things that I wouldn’t have chosen. That being the said, the food we received was excellent and the service from the FOH team was great!

Booked feast and flow for a staff Christmas party. We had booked 3.30pm. We were warned that the table was running late - however we were still waiting at 4.15. others around us were offered complimentary drinks due to the wait. We weren't. We did complain and were offered them but unfortunately they did not arrive. We thought they may be on the table when we were called in 50 mins late.. they weren't . We were 2 hours in total. Had to ask a couple of times for drinks . In that 2 hours some people on our table only received 2 drinks. We did not get our desserts as some of us gave up waiting after 40 minutes. There were queues everywhere. Most of the main courses were fried so very little choice as far as dietary requirements, We were told there was an issue at another paragon restaurant and that had impacted on service. We had all looked forward to this but it did not live up to expectations. We received a discount but it did not excuse the poor service and complete let down that was our Christmas party.

My first time here and we were treated exceptionally well. The food was beyond all my expectations, especially as it was such great value for money with the 2 courses for £22. I got the Soup of the Day which was Tomato and Gochujang (amazing) but the star of the show for me was the Crispy Shredded Beef Salad. I cannot recommend this enough. I will be coming back for that alone. Fantastic experience and wonderful atmosphere with the star lights in the tall windows.

Food was great but the hot food was served on warm plates. Everything else very good indeed.

Originally only popped into the orange tree for a coffee with an old friend but stayed for food in the bar area. The team were very lovely and very attentive, especially Josh (I think) behind the bar. Thank you!

Excellent,I enjoy value for money pub food, the orange tree is definitely not pub food and the venue and ambience is worth the extra cost if you are treating someone. Service tonight was probably the best I can remember ,my favourite restaurants are millar & carter but the service tonight at orange tree was a lot better than that at millar & carter

Our waitress Ella was so friendly, such a lovely girl. The restaurant was immaculate and very tastefully decorated for Christmas, it looked beautiful. The food was amazing! I would definitely return if I was in the area again.

I booked this place last minute and it was the best decision I have made. The orange tree is a lovely place and the waiter Harry was so accommodating. He is an incredible member of your team. The food was beautiful, I have the chicken skewer and it was cooked so well and tasty. I came here after my graduation and was greeted with a glass of champagne and a card from the team. Beautiful place to go, can’t recommend it enough.

Had the 2 for 22 set lunch. The butter milk chicken was the favorite, everything else was just ok for the price, restaurant was very nice

A brilliant restaurant that I would heartily recommend for a night of dining out, the staff were very pleasant and accommodating and the food was to dine for. A big thankyou to Leah and the rest of the staff fir making my partner's birthday meal special.

We were a large party booking, originally booked for 35 but reduced to 30, our party booking was split over 2 tables but this was not an issue we were advised of this at booking and we had explained we had 10 teenagers so they would go at one table with the other 20 at the other, so it was perfect set up for us. When we made the booking we were asked for a deposit of £10 per person due to being a party booking over 10, this was not an issue, completely understandable and we paid this happily, we were also advised we would need to pre order and provided with a pre order form which had to be back 7 days prior to our visit, again not an issue and we happily provided this. We are all from Scotland and a few people were delayed in travel due to traffic, so on the evening of our booking when we were aware a few people would be later we contacted the restaurant to advise that some would be late, as we had pre booked the food and it confirmed first course would be served 15mins after arrival time so we didn't want to mess them about. The gentleman that answered our call said this was completely fine to move booking to 1830, we did offer for some of the party to arrive at 1800 to keep the tables but we were informed that wasn't necessary and 1830 was fine for arrival. When we arrived we were thought the overall look of the place was lovely, it was bright, welcoming and cosy. The area / seating we were given was perfect. The food was fantastic very well presented and lovely flavorings. As I mentioned we had pre ordered, I personally had the list and we advised of where each course was to go which helped the girls serving us, the girls serving were very friendly and polite. The service of the meals was not fast or slow, it was at a perfect time to allow for drinks orders, food digestion etc. There was a bit of confusion with one dessert, we thought it was one too many, we then quickly noticed it wasn't but the girl we spoke to was confused over this so after waiting 15 mins we had to ask again, not an issue just a bit of confusion there. At 2030, just after the desserts had been served and some of the adults were looking at the cocktail menu deciding what to order, one of the girls serving us came over to the table and spoke with me, she advised she had been sent over by the manager to advise we had expired our time for the table and they needed it back as they had the next guests waiting. Surprised by this I advised her we had never been told we had a time slot and that 2hrs was not enough time for 30 people and 3 courses, even if you counted the 6-6.30 that was still only 2.5hrs for a large party. I explained people were still eating and that we were just about to order cocktails, she asked how long we'd need and I said 30mins minimum. The manager was obviously unhappy with this, he approached another member of our party telling them our time was up, in view of this we advised those still eating and one person just served their dessert (due to the confusion) they would need to hurry up and we didn't manage to order the cocktails which saved us at least £150. As people were trying to finish the staff were clearing up around us taking glasses away containing drinks that people were still drinking etc, it really did leave a bitter taste after such a great meal to be rushed out the door like that. I have since checked all the confirmation we were sent and no where on any of the confirmation does it advise a time limit for the booking or that we had to be out by a certain time as you needed the tables back, had we been told this we would've been more prepared or even considered booking somewhere else but to be rushed out like that and have glasses cleared when people were still drinking out of them and people still finishing meals was not a great end to the evening. Staff looked embarrassed at having to behalf in this manner, poor from management.

Thank you to the staff, who took care of me, when I was not so well. Despite not feeling well, the evening prior was perfect, excellent service, the food was delicious and the staff are so attentive and welcoming. Will definitely visit again.

Myself and my husband visited this evening for the first time. Wow what a delight. The 3 courses were one of the best meals I have ever had. The food was exceptional. A great atmosphere, attentive staff, a fantastic night all round. We will definitely be returning.

Leah was very nice to us on our friend's birthday. Happy birthday to Leah herself for next week! The food is nice and the atmosphere is lively. Good for any kind of occasion.

Beautifully decorated and atmospheric bar and restaurant. Also have baby changing facilities which was really helpful. Very accommodating of the pram as well with no booking. Would recommend booking a peak times as very popular

Driven past many times so thought I'd try and so glad I did! Booked for Sunday lunch, probably one of the best Sunday lunches I've ever had out. Had 3 courses which was worth every penny. The food was so fresh and full of flavour, presentation was beautiful, full credits to the chefs. Can highly recommend the Toffee Apple Crumble too for dessert, it was heaven, portions were just right too.The restaurant interior is beautiful, very airy and not cramped too even though it was pretty busy. The staff were wonderful, sadly I didn't get our waitresses name but she was fantastic, so friendly and happy. Can't wait to go back, even though I'm in Stafford this is definitely going to be my new go to restaurant. Try it, you won't be disappointed!

Went for my first Marriage anniversary and we totally loved the experience, the staff members were at hand to make our experience pleasant, the food was really good, i loved the drink as well. We'd definitely be going back some more for special moments.

I don’t like how they put a service charge on. It should be up to you weather or not you give them a tip. Yes it does say you can take it off. But they should let you know maybe verbally would be better

Totally took a chance on the Orange Grill and was blown away by the service from the time we stepped through the door right until we left! Staff were very friendly and inviting, shared knowledge of different dishes (I couldn’t decide ) Also ordered a cocktail from a huge choice drinks menu and it was beautifully delicious 🍹 Starter and Main course were superb and well executed, kitchen staff I commend you with a deserving 5 stars !! The ambient lighting and relaxed vibe (even though it was busy) was just perfect. Staff looked very smart in their uniforms and were approachable and professional at the same time. Will definitely return.

Although the food what I had was very nice, I was very disappointed at the non existent veggie and vegan choices. There wasn't any veggie choice at all on the 2 courses for £22 and there was only 2 options on the main menu a burger and aubergine dish. I think that is pretty lame in this day in age, where there should be a lot more selection. This menu should have way more choice for vegetarians and vegans. For this reason, I won't be visiting again.

1st visit to this restaurant for me (someone who's fussy about food quality) and a massive thumbs up. The meals were delicious and served in a timely manner by friendly staff who were more than happy to help with any queries. The atmosphere was pleasant and everyone seemed to be enjoying themselves. Prices were mid range but the quality of the food was 5*. We'll worth a visit whether it be with friends or family.... give it a try. You won't regret it!

I'm going to give it 5*because of the response of the staff and manager. The Sunday roast was very nice and enjoyable. However the broccoli was cold , the mint sauce tray dirty underneath and £5.50 for the pigs in blankets was too expensive for only 4. But management sorted it all out professionally and we appreciated that. Hopefully next time things will be better because we will definitely go again and try something else from the menu.

Great food, great service, great atmosphere. Would highly recommend the black and blue burger. The cocktail menu was also really impressive, however could maybe do with some more classics. Our server, Josh, was also super helpful. We will definitely be returning.

Great venue, very good menu if a rather parsimonious main portion and courteous service. Four stars given due to chairs. Very prone to sliding away from the table and too wide for the two such chairs allocated to my wife and myself to locate properly under the table. More worryingly my chair had a very loose leg on the left hand side.

Lovely food. We were rushed to leave the table as soon as we had paid and told to finish our drinks at the bar so just be mindful if you ordered more drinks towards the end of the meal.

The atmosphere is nice. Went in for Sunday dinner. The serving staff were very friendly and polite. One thing need to be pointed out, we referred to the menu on the website and decided before what we’re going to eat but the menu available at the restaurant was different. Prices came out different at the end. So I can say the website is not updated or rather misleading. That was a disappointment. Other than that we enjoyed our time there.

Super disappointed eating here, the food was on the higher end of the price point, sounded great but was stone cold, we told the young waiter at our checkback and he said "oh sorry about that" but offered to do nothing, I said can I get some hot gravy to heat it up a bit but he was then going to charge for it! Sides arrived after 3 or 4 minutes, via a slightly older member of staff, who I also mentioned about the main being cold and got a comment of I'm sorry, I asked him for some hot gravy to warm it up and out came 2 little pans of gravy which was warm at best. Come on chefs hot gravy is your last chance to send hot food!

Many items unavailable, what we did have were nice. Drinks were establishment choice not mine. Atmosphere was pleasant, service was ok.

1st Class Tuesday night meal with excellent service

Another super experience at one the Paragon restaurants. Faultless food, lovely warm friendly service , the cocktails and mocktails were really great so once again , thankyou for a super special lunch time celebration .

Sat for 10 minutes before we were served a drink as part of feast and flow. Asked when the 90 minute period started and were told it was from when we sat down. I said that I didn't feel it was right to begin the 90 minutes from when we were sat down when we werent gifen anything to eat or drink for the first 10 minutes and the response from the obnoxious waiter was that we would have to agree to disagree and that the wait was due to the fact that there were several large parties in and that we should be more understanding to that fact. He said he would extend by 10 minutes but nobody came to our table to offer us another drink in that 10 minute window. The food also left a lot to be desired. It was mostly soggy from being overdressed with condiments and the protein elements were tiny portions. Also felt pressured Into accepting a £6 service charge by a brazen waitress. Horrible experience, over priced and would not recommend. This is a fur coat no knickers venue facading as being more high end than it actually is.

Really enjoyed our visit & meals. Libby looked after us so well, it was my birthday & was given a card & a birthday pudding so unexpected but lovely. Marrilyn

We were very disappointed with the food ,the vegetables were under cooked and the food was very over priced for the size of serving. We did point out to the staff about the under cooked veg but no explanation was received

It was a special celebration for our friend and the staff pulled out all the stops and indeed made her feel very special. Everything about the evening was wonderful. The food was first class, the ambience was warm, fun and relaxing. The restaurant manager was very attentive as were all the other staff. It was the perfect place to be.

Ordered chicken with broccoli and gnocci, it tasted good but the chicken was overcooked and dry. Here, the music is played far too loudly. You were stressed by it. It's a shame that you have to feel that way because it's a nice restaurant and the service was very good.

I highly recommend the Orange Tree! Their care and attention to detail are apparent from the onset. One of the first things our server asked was if anyone had any food allergies. There were 7 in our group and every dish we ordered was enjoyed. The decor and ambience were lovely. It's a very peaceful place to eat. Their special cocktail list was quite unique and we ordered 3 different drinks from that menu, plus a special request cocktail. All were really nice. We went to have a celebration dinner for our daughter on her university graduation. The Orange Tree allowed us to bring a cake earlier that day so as to surprise our graduate after our meal. The main I ordered had cheese in ragu sauce with pine nuts. It was very tasty. Try the Orange Tree Bar and Grill. You'll be glad you did. We certainly were!

Our family of 4 ate for the first time at The Orange Tree today. Unfortunately 3 of us have food allergies or intolerances. From the time we mentioned this on arrival, the waiting staff and management were totally on board with ensuring that there was something that we could eat safely. They went above and beyond to prepare a meal for one of the party in a different way to avoid any difficulties. Thank you so much for being so diligent about our intolerances and giving us exceptional service making our first visit so enjoyable - we will be back.

We had 4 main 2 of them not really good linguni was too greasy and bellypork was too dry and we ask the box to take our salad home they said they donot have box

We travelled an hour and a half to visit the orange tree, for a special occasion and we're so pleased we did!! The Sunday roast wow, was the best I've ever had, everyone was super friendly/helpful and we had such a lovely time :) thanks again guys
