My wife and I had a brilliant night last night at the club, it was a Soul and Motown themed night, the DJ played great music and the place was sold out, we pre booked the food, which was simple but absolutely delicious, one of the best sirloin steaks I’ve had in a long time anywhere I think the club itself has been on a knife edge for a few years now but I think these themed nights will be it’s saviour and a priority is marketing and selling to younger generations, if I was to hazard a guess last nights average age would be 60 - 70 and we won’t live forever !

Christmas dinner was very nice. If you're young, it's a rather odd setup, you have to wait in the bar until the food area is set up. The bulk of clientele is elderly people, I assume the traditional style of service and dress code caters for this, however will be interesting as to whether that will attract younger folks as time goes on

The Potter's club How can you review it? I first visited in the late 1960s and have been going to the Potter's club ever since. I think it is wonderful that in the heart of Stoke-on-Trent we have this jewel in our cities faded crown. Most people don't know that it exists, but in my opinion when you go up in the lift and discover the Lost world , a world where royalty were welcomed . A place which one would only expect to find in London but it is opposite Stoke station. Absolutely fantastic!. Long may last!

An institution, historic, quaint and needs to advertise more. This is really important to Stoke and the Pottery industry and needs to be more accessible and attract new younger members. Otherwise it won't survive. Fabulous experience but car park is like Fort Knox and the lift is more dumb waiter than lift. If you get chance please go and support

Fortunately, after rushing around, getting changed, fresh from the bath, that even good designer jeans weren’t acceptable. That was the excuse to not go and endure an average meal, at a price that justified excellent service. I’m not saying that it hasn’t a sense of grandeur, just that it isn’t all that, any more. I have had nice meals but, even my member friend quips that the £6 supermarket wine at £20+ pounds is steep. Living on a good name

We well greeted by Lewis and served drinks promptly, our order was taken about 25minutes later and sat 15 minutes later so we have been here an hour and no food the menu is very basic or pub style . The starter arrived which was nice but not really worth the money ,the main course arrived about 20 minutes later again ok but very over priced. We were not asked if we wanted a dessert or coffee the chef did a little tour of the tables which wasn’t needed because we could barely understand him ,shame I have fond memories of the club

We visited in 2021 and had a lovely experience and Afternoon tea. We visited again in 2022 and the experience was disappointing. The amount of sandwiches and cakes was reduced to very minimal equating to 3 small finger sandwiches pp and 2 very small cakes pp the jam and cream was only 2 portions to be shared by 4. £20 pp equates to £80 for four and did not seem value for money! We won’t be going back in 2023. There are better value afternoon teas out there.

You don’t have to wear a tie to eat at The Potters’ Club, but (gentlemen) I would recommend it. Wear a jacket at least. I mention this because in an age of the cult of informality, The Potters’ Club still provides a formal dining experience with high standards and attention to stylish detail. The club was founded in the 1950s and the dining room still has the atmosphere of the first class dining room on a trans-Atlantic liner. It’s another world, discreetly sheltered from the view of nearby Stoke station. The menu is less extensive than it used to be, but a more limited selection has allowed them to focus on quality. The staff are extremely helpful: commendably respectful without being stuffy. You used to have to be a member to eat there, but this is no longer the case. That said, it remains an oasis. Many people don’t even know it’s there. If so -and if they see a degree of formality as a pleasure rather than an imposition- they really are missing out.

I don't Dislike the Potters Club..I just think it now looks, and feels, very tired..it's sad to see. The lack of financial investment, to refurb, to bring a smile to the place, has had a depressing effect. Also, the standard of cuisine is no where close to being 'special'..yet, the price of food is far too much..it's unrealistic.

We visited Potters several months ago and felt the service, food and staff was very good which is why we decided to visit again with our family who we wanted to treat. It is a lovely venue and our waiter our that evening was very professional and attentive. Only criticism is that there was no background music playing. Unfortunately the service and food was nowhere near as good as the first time. The starters were average and not much of it as one of us had the chicken and there was very little. The main courses - my partner had cod which was not very filling, so much so that we ended up calling to get a Mac Donald’s on the way home! Myself and another family member had the steak which was chewy and quite basic. Dessert - this wasn’t great either, I had the chefs trio special which was not very nice the purée crumble was awful, little portions and not very appealing. The red wine was the highlight to be fair it was lovely, we had 2 bottles of the melodious Malbec. The waiter managed to serve the males of the party first when pouring the water and then they took our plates when we hadn’t all finished eating which I found quite rude. I asked for the bill and rather than it being placed in the centre of the table or given to me as I had asked for it it was given to our guest which was a little awkward. Unfortunately we will not be visiting again as it was very expensive for a less than average evening out!

Visited the Potters Club last night for the champagne dinner. 🍾The food and wine were exceptional. The first course was a delicious chicken terrine served with a glass of champagne described by Andy so well. The second course was a lovely parsnip soup again served with a pairing champagne. The main course was short rib of beef which was so tender and tasty with a champagne that matched perfectly. The desert course was a frangipan tart with a Demi sec champagne. The whole evening was most enjoyable with wonderful food and wine. Well done to everyone.

We were reminded as to why we should renew our membership of the Potters Club when we were taken by friends for a meal, having not eaten at the Club for some time. The elegant surroundings were calm and cool on a very hot summer evening. The meal was excellent with a range of interesting starters. Two of us had a minis caesar salad, which had plenty of good seasoning (not always the case in other restaurants that serve this dish) and a superb caesar dressing. One of the others in our party had a very attractively presented cod dish, with the remaining person had a started with a mixture of items, all beautifully presented. Our mains were equally delicious and interesting. The Wade gluggle jog provided amusement and these can be purchased at the Club - a nice touch. I checked the price out on Wade's website and they cost the same at the Club as they do if bought directly from Wade. We took our coffees in the lounge. The coffee was really good and we did not have to ask for pouring cream (it's a must with good coffee), which really impressed me. The accompanying chocolates were good. My only criticism, and I know that this is controversial and people have different views on this, is that I don't like the piped music in the dining room. It simply isn't necessary and for me has a negative impact on ambiance, particularly if the speaker is right next to one's table, as it was in our case. However, the music was not too loud and didn't spoil our evening. Equally, I accept that some people like to have music piped into their surroundings. As for the cost: it was very reasonable and mid-range. All in all, we left feeling that we must renew our membership of the Club! It's a brilliant place to relax and to find good food with excellent service. Having the air conditioning on such a hot evening was a joy too.

I have been a member for 18 months but a guest for many years, and as the annual subscription charge is so reasonable - about 75p per day - it was foolish not to join and enjoy all the benefits. The food is ranked among the best in North Staffordshire (a part of the country with no Michelin-starred chefs); the ambiance is elegant but relaxed, a more casual dress code now being acceptable; there is no embarrassing initial interview to undergo; there is a comfortable lounge and restaurant, two private function rooms, an intimate bar and the meal prices are more than competitive (£19.95 for a 3-course lunch). Membership also offers affiliation to a select few clubs throughout the world. A visit to London's National Liberal Club alone is worth the membership subscription. However, it is the staff who make The Potters' Club particularly special - friendly, efficient and helpful. If you care to drop in - it's hidden away on the top floor of Federation House opposite Stoke station - the staff will take time to show you round. It will be worth it.

Park in the free rear car park, enter the lift, up you go to the upper floor and arrive in a private club .... I have been very fortunate to visit the Potters Club for lunch on a few occasions and have never been disappointed - from the moment the lift doors open I was welcomed and taken in to the lounge where I could order a drink and meet the other guests. When ready (at our pace which is nice) we all ordered from an excellent menu and were escorted in to the dining room to be seated. Silver service all the way and nothing was too much trouble for the staff. I had leek and potato soup with a curried scallop, sirloin steak and then ice cream and it was superb - not hurried by the staff and plenty of time to enjoy our meal, drinks and then coffee / liquors back in the lounge. Although the food is very good, it is not Michelin-starred except on the occasions when a well-known chef is invited. However, what makes The Potters Club outstanding is the high quality of the staff and the ambience. The atmosphere is relaxed and much less formal than it used to be. The prices may be a little higher than normal but well worth it for the service and atmosphere, which is better -suited to adults, although there are private rooms for family parties. Monthly ladies' lunches are amazing value - £22 for 3 courses, a glass of wine, coffee and chocolates. It is a members' only club but membership costs are less than £300 p.a. and members are not restricted to the number of guests they can invite. I tried The Potters Club with a business associate before Christmas and found the whole experience so enjoyable that I joined the club along with a business colleague.Since then we've been every month as a foursome and have enjoyed every visit immensely. There is always a varied and interesting menu. The food is beautifully cooked and presented by staff who know how to look after you and are pleasant, friendly and professional. For a private members club the prices are competitive. The wine list is nothing short of sensational. In my humble opinion, the ambience contributes to the enjoyment of the evening as much as the food and wine. The bar is cosy, well stocked and they serve a mean array of cocktails. The dining room is beautifully decorated and the lounge is comfortable and perfect to relax with a nightcap to finish off your evening. The Potters Club is steeped in tradition and has also relaxed its dress code slightly to reflect modern times. If you get the opportunity to go I would urge you to give it s try and I'm sure that if you do you will be as tempted to join as we were.

Dinner on a Friday evening. Beautiful starter, Ravioli slow cooked pheasant in a mushroom Sorel broth. Beautiful. My husband had the chorizo risotto in a filo basket . Also lovely. Ate at Petrus, one star Michelin, London a couple of weeks ago for lunch and the starter wasn't as good as these.Main course smoked cod loin with saffron and mussel sauce was good. Coffee and chocolates in the lounge were good, although espresso machine is coming soon.Wines by the glass are very much a step up from the usual you receive in establishments such as this.Service excellent. If this restaurant was in London at this price it would be packed !Private members club so the annual subscription, but you do get reciprocal club entry in London and Edinburgh which makes this a very reasonable offer.Would recommend, especially outside of London.

Ate here for a business lunch with two clients (one a member). The building is indeed a wonderful bit of history and there are some glorious examples of Staffordshire pottery to be seen throughout. From the cosy bar to the impressive dining room (there is more than one) the setting is a lovely piece or history. The food was excellent and the service flawless in gorgeous surroundings. The selection of desserts was particularly good. The total bill for 3 courses with a bottle of decent wine and a drink beforehand was very reasonable given the quality of the food and the surroundings.Definitely worth a visit if you know someone who is a member.

This place is one of a dying breed. Beautiful decor. Fantastic food. Lovely staff. All in all a gem. We went as a group of 4 on a friday night and unfortunately for them there was only 1 other table in. We all had different meals but the Lamb roast that I had was exquisite.Highly Recommended. Not suitable for children. Too many things to knock over.

Our daughter came home for a weekend visit and we wanted somewhere "nice" to eat. The Potters Club fitted the bill perfectly as she lives 100+ miles away so doesn't get to go there very often. Two starters of soup went down very well, followed by a steak, a fish pie and a Belly Pork - all were excellent - treats abounded as we had a driver so the Bollinger and Barolo were very well received. A great evening and a much under utilised restaurant - join the club and go!

I was invited by a member of the club for lunch today(16/7/14) and were greeted politely by the receptionist. The bar where we had our pre lunch drinks did not seemed to have changed since the first time I was there which was thirty years ago.The club has a soothing stability and the no nonsense food is a nice change to the restaurants who are trying too hard. The staff are friendly and helpful and although not Michelin star, the meal was nicely cooked and most enjoyable. You need to be invited by a member so look around and ask your friends,if you are lucky someone will take you there!

Nineteen of us assembled for a family lunch to celebrate my step-granddaughter's 21st. birthday, including six children aged from 2 to 9.We occupied the Johnson room (a private dining room) and ordered on arrival from the normal lunch menu. Under any circumstances this would be a difficult task for any restaurant, but the staff were superb. They attended to the children with great patience and thoughtfulness. Service was excellent, and the standard of food to the usual high standard. The event was a huge success - mainly due to the professionalism of the staff.

I attended a meeting at the Potters Club yesterday and have to say that the service is of a 5 Star establishment. From the moment you walk in to the minute you leave nothing is to much trouble.

We have just had a wonderful evening. Popped into the Club for a light supper with drinks at 6pm, walked around the corner to the Film Theater and back to the Club with friends for Coffee and Chocolates to discuss the film, The Wolf of Wall Street. A wonderful way to spend an evening enjoying the beautiful surroundings, service and food of the Potters Club. The Cosmopolitans are to die for!!

Great food with fantastic service from friendly staff. A good place for family gatherings and parties from 2 people to 35 or 40. The restaurant and separate dining rooms for parties work well and have always provided a warm welcome. The venue is on the top floor of Federation House but is only available to members and their guests, but is worth every penny of the membership fee.

We used to go to bloom all the time, over my last 3 trips I have noticed it getting progressively worse! Since it's been taken over it's tatty and run down! Today, drinks were not nice at all and these used to be the best in town here and Newcastle! Service was ok, extremely slow to try and get service though and I ended up having to go up to find staff just chatting at the bar? The drinks we were served came in dirty glasses, asked to be changed no issue and the waitress was apologetic and removed from the bill but it was honestly no where near on par with how it used to be taste wise, tasted odd and nothing like a pornstar martini! Really disappointed and honestly don't think we will return now! Such a shame for something that once was a great business.

Went with a mate in 2021, always said I would leave a review, finally getting round it. Tip top gaff. Owner was mega crack. Kicked a paedo out. First pub in the UK to have Madri. The rooms were clean. Close to Alton Towers, wetherspoons close by, avoid, spend your money in this proper gaff.
