Food always hot good sized meals very tasty. Food always cooked fresh. Staff are Brilliant very polite helpful. Still great food and staff. All still brilliant would recommend

Years since I've been here. Popped in for coffee after we'd been to a funeral. Friendly and comfortable, nice place.

Recently visited and had the large sunday dinner for £10.15 You get a generous plateful of food. The meat portion was particularly good and my beef and turkey was lean and tender. You get a double portion of meat with a Large roast dinner and half that on a Regular sized dinner. Yorkie tasted Good. Veg was good One criticism was the waitress plonked the plate on the table quickly and I had to call her back to request extra gravy which tasted very nice. Then I realised i had no roast potatoes and when the extra gravy boat came I mentioned no roast pots to the waitress. She came back with one in a bowl, but it was nice! LOL The waitress should really check with the customer and say - is there anything else i can get you? Rather than speeding away!! Overall the roast dinners here are very nice!

First time Customer. This was the fastest food service I've ever had in 40+ years ! - Delicious food and excellent service. Recommended.

Veg was good but the one thing missing were roasties and they are NOT on the menu. Goodness knows why? Big mistake. Instead there were boiled new potatoes. Gravy tasted nice. My partner who is vegetarian had the chickpea curry. Big mistake as she said it tasted very poor. This meal was probably frozen and microwaved and totally over-priced for what you get!!!! The roast dinners, however, are pretty Good!!

Great local pub in trentvale and food is always piping hot handmade and nice. Has good selection of food and drink, pool table in the bar, slot machines. Darts boards, outdoor seating area (revamped) also have live music on weekends.

Nice people serving never been before will be returning

Local pub, down to earth real characters. You may find rich language in the bar but the main restaurant area is family friendly. Proper Stokie staff, great characters.

Have eaten here on quite a few occasions now the food is always home cooked and tastes amazing it's always nice and relaxed in there and the staff are always happy and friendly.

Great Local Pub. Friendly staff & service. The Food is always spot on, do a lovely Sunday roast too. The pub also has a family room which is great for the little ones but we’ve also used it for a baby shower function which you can hire privately from the pub.

Our first visit and such a lovely surprise. Very nice atmosphere, great menu, very reasonably priced, with veggie and vegan options. The food was excellent quality and the service quick. Extremely pleasant staff with nothing too much trouble. Can't wait to go back !

Absolutely shocking service! Waitress got the order wrong. Human error is fine but she did not apologise. Even if she was adamant she had placed the order correctly she still should have apologised. Terrible customer service through and through. It was, of course, my 5 year old daughter's fault. Apparently she had not been decisive enough. She was simply unclear over the difference between fries and chips. She is 5 after all. Once the difference had been made clear she made her choice but this was not noted correctly. Shifting the blame to the customer is not at all acceptable. Chef made an appearance and complained about changing the item even though i said it was fine once the incorrect order had been delivered to the table and to leave it. On returning with the correct order she engaged directly with my 5 year old (not at all acceptable) and said that if she made a mistake when ordering in future then the meal would not be replaced. The tone was abhorrent. No stranger should tell my child off, in a cold and threatening tone, especially when it is not my child that has made the mistake. Understandably i replied with there won't be a next time. No 'customer is always right' in this establishment. The customer is always wrong, clearly. Absolutely disgusting service, customer relations and manner. Shameful behaviour and not at all professional. Avoid at all costs!

Used to do homemade chips, sadly not anymore.

Came for a festive meal with my mum, and it was fantastic! The table had decorations and crackers such a lovely touch. The food was great. I had the chicken wings and was impressed with one of the sauces the monkey gland was home made it was very tasty. I had the chicken skewers for my main because I love taziki, and once again, this was delicious. The mince pie was also very tasty. We will definitely be booking again. Thank you so much for a lovely festive meal me and my mum had a great time, and we both enjoyed our meals, the staff were also great! 😊

I am originally from Stoke and moved down to llandudno wales to start a guest house buisness I also moved my parents to conwy I am a stoke city football fan and also my mum we return every home game we can and we always go to the Black loin for a meal before the match the food is excellent and service fantastic and very reasonable priced We cannot fault the place definitely recommend it

Me and my Wife popped in for some lunch. Friendly Staff as always and very well used but cumfy feeling pub. If you want proper home cooked Pub Grub then this is the place to go! We had the lasagne following the mixed combo. Both so filling and lovely. You must try their curry sauce! Best we have ever tasted and compliments the homemade chips top notch. You can order it seperately to accompany any dish if you ask when ordering. Jackie the Landlady cooks the food herself which always ensures that it is cooked to perfection. Not sure why the last review was so negative as in over 20 years ive never had a bad meal here. Can't speak for the Sunday dinner as never tried it but can honestly say it is always rammed when we have visited. Can not recommend enough 👌

Went for Sunday roast we were disappointed 😞 been before was nice . Dinner came out was looking for my meat & my partner was to it was the smallest bit you could find complained & they bought us another little bit, lumpy potatoes, looked like frozen veg, they didn't seem bothered when we complained, so won't be going back. Shame because other times we have enjoyed.

Great little pub. We came after visiting trentham gardens, food was great and staff were brill. Nice lfamily room with toys to play with to keep kids entertained.

We had my step sons birthday at the blacky we eat here every week the food and staff did a fantastic job todsy and 20 people went not one meal was wrong thank you for the loverly food and rory picked the black lion as he loves the food here just like his step dad

Had a 2 course meal . Starter was basic . Short staffed so waited ages for our Main . When it eventually came my Steak was bland and the Oil the food was cooked in has still a bad taste in my Mouth . Not worth the Money .

Awful! Worst roast dinner I’ve ever had in my life! Everything on the plate looked like it had come from a bag of frozen veg. We got 1 toast potato each, the gravy was thin and tasteless. We didn’t even stay for the kids desserts cos the food was so bad, the chips on the kids meal looked like frozen chips that had been fried, greasy and undercooked. Worst £50 we have ever spent on a family meal ever.

Called in about 3pm.Good service & a lovely clean place.Ordered homemade cottage pie,chips & peas which my husband said was delicious.I ordered homemade plaice,chips& mushy peas.The breadcrumbs on the plaice was too hard.Was quite disappointed by my meal.Would call again & try another meal.

Great Sunday roast experience. Because we had a larger group, the staff bought over trays of vegetables and sauces instead of having each of us visit the carvery counter individually. Meat was slightly drier than I'd have liked but everything else was spot on.

I used to live nearby but have not been in for years until this week. Nice and tidy and a decent pint of Abbot although that was the only real ale on offer.

We have been here for food many times, the food is fantastic all home made! Definitely recommend trying the pie!!

Really really awful I expected to go there to a good experience food was dreadful and I ordered drinks and they said they would bring them to the table they left them at the bar around loads of customers untended and when I asked if they could replace they said NO this is unprofessional I was in here a couple months ago when I was spiked this pub is really really unprofessional if you decide to go here make sure you don’t eat the food and only have lemonade it’s the only pop they’ve got that’s not waterdown WARNING avoid at all costs!!!!!

Very poor management skills . The lady barred my friend, because he left the door open. It was clearly signed please close the door after you. So I've barred myself too.

I got charged twice on my credit card for the same drinks...not happy won't go agsin. Told transaction had not gone through.
