We stopped in while touring the area. Great choice! We opted to eat in the dining room with a view of the river. It was rainy but we did have a good view. My wife and I ordered the Gnocchi. It was delicious and we look forward to having the leftovers for supper. Our friend had the Fish and Chips and found them to be delicious also. The staff was pleasant and efficient. It is the off season and we recommend you try Saracens if you are in the area.

The pubs sits perfectly, just adjacent the River Wye and close to the Kingfisher river boat cruises. We stopped for lunch and can say the pub has a great atmosphere, it was busy for a Friday in October, and the staff are really friendly. We had lunch, my wife Jenn had the Mushroom and onion vegetarian burger and I had the Lamb doner kebab. Both meals were amazing, jenn said it was the best vege burger she had ever had. My kebab was awesome, plenty of chilli sauce, tasty lamb and served on a lovely flatbread. Neither of us could finish the accompanying chips as were both stuffed! Highly recommend this pub for charm, location, atmosphere and food - oh, they serve local ales as well!

Ate here for Sunday lunch on a recommendation, first time visiting. First impressions were it's like a beer garden in the middle of a carpark. If you are lucky enough to get a table outside, you will have to endure cars and motorbikes passing within feet of your table. The food was supposed to be amazing. I ordered the roast beef, not cheap at £20, it was cold and tasteless, served with burnt Yorkshire pudding, frozen roast potatoes and a plate of vegetables which were stewed, soggy and lukewarm. Overall, an expensive and unpleasant experience, I had stomache pains all afternoon after eating here, might just have been coincidence but I would not return.

I always visit this wonderful pub/restaurant when visiting Symonds Yat East and usually I have to drive home so I can never enjoy any of the wide selection of cask ales. This time however I was staying overnight nearby so my luck was in! I tried several of the beers on offer which were new to me and they were all delicious and expertly kept and pulled. We also booked in for dinner and I can definitely recommend the bistro steak! I'm salivating right now just thinking about it. Perfectly cooked. My partner also enjoyed the gammon. All this tasty food was supported by awesome garlic bread and mixed green vegetables. Not to forget dessert, you'd be mad to miss out on the luxurious profiteroles and sticky toffee pudding. The staff are wonderful, the chef is clearly highly skilled and we were very well looked after. Thank you all.

We visited on a Sunday evening as a party of 13 which they accommodates without an issue although we booked the day before. The memu was varied and there was plenty to chose from for adults, children veg and non veg alike. The food was excellent, the highlights being the pork belly, venison faggots and the smash burgers. Most had puddings and the sticky toffee pudding was superb. The staff we very friendly and helpful and the location of the pub was also very picturesque. I would definitely head back there.

What a tourist trap. You’re already stung a fiver for parking because there is no other choice. And then, for ten pounds you get three tiny prawns on a skewer. Literally took about 20 seconds to eat. What a joke of a place. It used to be a nice place to sit out and eat. But now it’s just another huge tourist trap in the area. Saw some of the other dishes being served. All big prices for small servings. You can just see that most people leave disappointed and ripped off.

Had lunch here 2 weeks ago. Had a sirloin steak which was not good at all! Very disappointed with quality of meat as very difficult to cut even worse to chew (ordrred med rare so not over cooked) was very sinewy. Complained to staff that wasn’t able to eat and taking home for my dog just apologised and said would tell kitchen. Charged full price for a meal that was not edible. Very disappointed. Will not be returning. Sad as a gorgeous setting.

Took my 93 year old mother for a drive and lunch. The pub / restaurant wasn't busy midweek in January so access parking was easy. I guess that that will change later in the year! Staff were welcoming relaxed but attentive. Cannot fault the service. My mother had a child's portion of the pappardelle bolognese which was generous and delicious as were the fish and chips and burger. The burger was freshly prepared and was steak shredded. All tasted delicious. I don't understand the few criticisms around price. I've paid more for much lower quality - for me it was good value for money.

Arrived without booking (not taken for outside seating) at 6:45pm which happened to be when the kitchen was closing for outdoor tables. Bar staff were very friendly and helpful and let us order a meal. Sat outside and watched the Wye drift gently by while...

We stopped here on a busy Sunday when one minute it’s raining the next bright sunshine. We both had the roast lamb dinner & it was delicious, meat very tender & plenty of vegetables. The roast potatoes weren’t great though! Waitresses still kept bringing food...

Stayed here last night and ate in the restaurant. Choice may not have been the widest but quality was top notch and the staff delightful. Service was also quick given the number of people eating outside but it may be that residents get preferential treatment.

As we entered the lovely lady came to us with menus. Food was brought to us on hot plates and presented very nicely. We all enjoyed what we had. Thankyou will return.

Rude, extremely disappointing, shocking and disrespectful staff! We arrived after making a booking the day before. I booked 2 Adults, 1 child aged 2. The booking itself was pleasant. We got slightly lost, rang in and again very pleasant. Arrived 7 minutes late and walked into a very ‘local’ pub feel. All eyes on us. We were told by the bar person that they were glad we found them. A woman appeared and looked at my Grandson and commented ‘we don’t have highchairs’ I commented that I’d booked ahead with a child on the booking? She said she would go down in the cellar and dust something suitable to bring up then asked me if I had a chair in my car???!!!! We approached the bar and I said I was confused as I’d booked a child ahead of coming. I was ignored, I said once again and the younger woman behind the bar looked at me and in a slightly raised voice utttered ‘well, yes she’s gone to get you something hasn’t she!!’ Based on this experience I told my Friend we were leaving as being treated like this was way beyond acceptable. I wasn’t happy and I let it be known! My Friend and I were left shocked and felt we had been treated appallingly by 2 extremely rude women. Whilst we were putting my Grandson in the car the older women came out and further patronised us with her offering of a dusted off cellar chair and we told her that her colleague was vile and it had gone beyond the chair. She walked off. Having read through the reviews I can see hands have changed and so this may be why I didn’t receive the reputation I had heard of. I have the feeling they felt they were above us! I’m not easily impressed so their Morgan cars and gold large Baroque chairs only further deepens my suspicions that they think they’re better 🤣🤣

I arranged a lunch here for my walking group of 40. The meals were excellent and served by friendly staff. It was a most enjoyable occasion.

Stopped here for lunch Bank Holiday Monday, sat in the spacious garden with the dogs and ate some good quality food. Pub food has become so expensive last few years that what was once a regular activity has become a treat. So great when you do get good food and lovely staff.
