So disappointed this time! We have been coming to the Bunch Of Carrots for years and always highly rate it. I feel bad knowing I have not done a good review from the many enjoyable times spent here but I’m sure I will if I come again to try. This time I feel the need to write one… sadly not the best one in hopes something changes! Our Sunday roast dinners, which were very high in cost, were not up to the usual standard! Firstly, I have never seen a nut roast cost the same as a meat carvery. £18 for just a nut roast is very steep and I was surprised to see this priced on the menu! The most disappointing part was the roast potatoes - whole potatoes roasted so the insides were so dry. They needed to be at least half, maybe quarter of the size. The carrots could be roasted too, not just plainly boiled but that’s just preference! What looked like shop bought, cooked from frozen Yorkshire puddings were very average too but still tasty. We did tell the waitress about the disappointment in the roast potatoes and she was very professional and kind about it, however we were not offered any discount. When talking to another customer briefly, they too mentioned the dissatisfaction in the dinner, specifically the dry potatoes and said they were offered free coffee. Why weren’t we offered the same? I do understand that it was likely a different member of staff. I do also want to say how lovely each and every member of staff was! This review is purely just about the food. We will hopefully be back to try again in a few months to see if it gets better as this is truly a lovely pub! However, this time unfortunately not worth the expense or time!

Great food, especially the carvery which is available every day. Good service, friendly staff. Would happily recommend it but suspect it would be very busy at the weekends.

Had a lovely greeting from the staff especially as it was my birthday. Service was spot on, very friendly helpful staff. Both had the carvery, pork and beef were superb also a choice of turkey if preferred. Lots of vegetable options, all cooked lovely. Proper fresh gravy, chef was great, even offered me a spare Yorkshire pudding to celebrate my day. Very good food and didn’t go home hungry. . Highly recommend .

Lovely carvery, well cooked and tasty, very friendly staff and a great pub, plenty of parking would recommend to anyone, a bit to far for me unfortunately but spent a nice day out from Liverpool with family, next time I'm down I will be going back. Thank you for the hospitality 😊😊

Visited with family, the carvery is expensive for what it is, the roast potatoes were very greasy, but it was ok. The dessert i chose was Black forest gateaux , it was NOT a gateaux, it was a very dry square cake with little cream, very poor value for money, ive had black forest gateaux many times in my life. Never has it come out as a square cake. Very poor value for money. Very slow service

Had a light lunch here, and are planning our next visit with family. From the attentive bar staff to the waiting staff, everything was really good, can't wait to go back

We called in on the off chance of a table and were lucky they could accommodate us especially as Im on a mobility scooter. We were asked if we could vacate by 7 as the table was booked out then but as it was only 5 pm that wasn’t a problem. All the staff were very helpful and extremely polite Nothing was a problem even down to offering to carry my carvery

1.5pints of cider and 2 packets of crisps £10.75.a lot more than would be expected.either stowfords more than normal or crisps excessive.prices need to be displayed...and in all pubs.often not the case-including crisps.i still don't know the price breakdown

Could do with a better selection on the very small menu they gave. Service wasn't great we waited over 40minutes to be seated even though we had a table booked. Staff are quite laxidasical and weren't keeping on top of things such as our orders etc, also they tried to charge us for the previous table drinks order... the fish batter was extremely greasy to the point it was hard to eat. The carvery looked good though and the kids meals were OK.

Nice riverside pub with possibly the best carvery in Herefordshire. Veg that goes with it is all beautifully cooked and that includes the delicious roast potatoes which often let a carvery down. Very good value for the quality of food .Friendly and helpful staff.Definitely a regular for us.

We were supposed to have a big family meal at the Bunch of Carrots - couldn't make it due to a couple of people not being well, but they did us 9 x carvery takeaways! Lovely food, fantastic staff who even offered to do gluten free yorkshires and veg for our gluten free guest. Just brilliant. Thank you so much.

The restaurant is situated in a beautiful location, featuring a stunning interior and an ambient atmosphere that immediately sets a relaxing tone. Additionally, the ample parking facilities make it convenient for guests. The staff were attentive, although they seemed a bit forgetful, as they returned twice to take our order, which was a bit frustrating. The menu looked amazing, but we faced disappointment when some of the starters we ordered were unavailable later. While the soup was delicious, the tart was dry, and the focaccia was still doughy in the middle, indicating inconsistency in the kitchen. The Carvery, however, was delightful and clearly the main attraction, as the butterfly chicken was also dry. Despite these issues, the desserts were faultless, beautifully presented, and included a nostalgic 'old school Black Forest Gateaux'. I would consider returning, but I'd likely stick to the Carvery or give it another chance, hoping it was just an off day.

The best Sunday roast carvery we have every had, complements to the chief and staf, especially Amy lovely service from her, very full of life, thanks again.

It is one of the best village pubs, including restaurants near to Hereford. Best place for a small group's party. They have a variety of desserts, too. Ginger flavourful ice cream is awesome. Spacious parking available. The restaurant design is attractive.

Super place to have a carvery whilst visiting herefored. Food was super. Will go again when we visit

Lovely pub but I was shocked with my £17 fish and chips. It was a very small, tasteless, skinny piece of cod in batter, accompanied by chips and rock hard peas. Definitely not value for money. Will not be going back.

Stopped here by chance on a day out to Hereford. We only had sandwiches, but they were fresh and presented well.

Recent price increases and reduction in amount of meat means no longer value.Other carveries cheaper and better portions.

No been for a long time, great service, staff very helpful for my wife's allergy. Carvery was very good, plenty of choice. And a great place especially in the summer

Good food not as good as it was

The carvery is perfect, the pub is really lovely. Staff are great apart from one she was extremely rude to a family member of mine, he ordered the nut roast as you have to pre order. When we all got our carverys including him a lady who I think is manager I'm not sure she was so rude and said " next time you need to preorder" which he did and she just bluntly walked off. Apart from that the rest of the staff are spot on as well as the food.

Came for the carvery with my dad and WOW. It was excellent. My plate was piled so high but I devoured it all! Really delicious. My father is in a wheelchair and they were very accommodating too. Overall excellent experience

First experience coming to Bunch of Carrots and will be our last. The staff are rude and arrogant. We bought drinks from the bar and we sat in the garden. We gave our 5 years old daughter a pack of the crisp from the car which we have bought earlier in the day, only to be aggressively approached by one of the staff (and several others were watching from the distance) saying that we weren’t allowed to eat food (crisp) that not served directly from the pub. They brought my daughter to tears which shows the lack of professionalism and customer service within their organisation. We were also pre booked for Sunday lunch which we ended up cancelling as we would never want to step foot into such environment again. We wish we had read the previous reviews about this pub as it certainly would have prevented us from wasting our money. My advice to future customers would be to stay clear of this pub and visit one of many other beautiful pubs within the area

Met up with my brother and sister in law as they were caravaning near Hereford. Had the carvery with pork and beef ( turkey also available) with a good selection of vegetables. Good tasty food and for £17 very good value. Friendly staff and a nice interior made for a good three hours of catch up chat.

Visited with a party of 11 and were warmly welcomed by the staff. The starters were delightful, and the carvery exceeded expectations with its generous portions of fresh, perfectly cooked veggies and delicious meat. A delightful experience overall!

Good value carvery in nice surroundings. Parsnips a tad hard, but nevertheless, tasty meal. Waitress very pleasant. However, carvery chef was not very happy. Would recommend

Very disappointed in portion size and ale pie had 2 pieces of meat tray bake. Certainly not as good value as last time. Staff very good and friendly. I would pay more if decent portions but for the price very disappointed

The place was rammed, which speaks volumes. Good food served with charm. The only slight niggle? If you've got a big sign saying "Real Ale" as feature, perhaps a better choice than the same three beers sold by every other pub in the area would be nice.

There have been some mixed reviews on here recently but we have never been disappointed. As there are 8 of us we usually go mid week, and often have the carvery. We think this is great value and were especially delighted this time to hear and see that the sweets are now homemade. The staff were friendly and welcoming and I am sure that we will be back again soon.

Fantastic meal but the lady taking our order stood about 5 foot away so couldn't hear what she was saying and a smile goes a long way she didn't like smiling.

Enjoyed a Sunday Carvery for mothers day. My mum always wanted to go, so I took her and she was not disappointed. Definitely re-visiting very soon

Have visited several times,nice cosy pub,food good,staff pleasant with the exception of an extremely grumpy chef,however on this particular occasion he was so rude I wasn’t able to eat my meal and left in tears. Whilst the staff were apologetic,it completely spoilt my evening,I would like to think the chef’s rudeness and general unfriendly manner has been addressed to avoid any further distress to customers.

Went for a carvery after lots of good reports. It didn't disappoint. Good value for money and great food. I am sure we will be back.

Great service, very friendly. Excellent food. I recommend the the steak pie. It took up half the plate, and the meat in it was lovely. My wife had quiche if the day, which she loved.

Sunday carvery lunch with friends, food good

We were staying close to The Bunch of Carrots for a couple of nights- its's a treat to find a pub open all day nowadays- but to find one as lovely- cosy & quirky as this one is a treat- we called a couple of times after a walking to enjoy a well earned drink- lovely atmosphere- staff friendly & welcoming.

Absolutely fabulous place next to the River Wye whether for a light lunch, full carvery or special function. Vegan & vegetarian options available too. We’ve done the lot over the years. The quality of food is excellent, always a nice atmosphere and the service very friendly and professional. Special mention to Catherine, the boss-lady, who went the extra mile to make our recent function special. Thank you.

Visited Sunday carvery for first time in a few years. Staff friendly. Food not so welcoming. Major disappointment was the roast beef. We were first to ask for beef – I felt sorry for my wife as I later discovered she was given the meat from the very end of the joint. Unsurprisingly, it was overcooked, tough and tasteless. I had a slice of beef, (fourth slice in), tough, tasteless and grey. Slice of pork, tasty and tender. Slice of turkey, cooked to destruction and completely dried out. Proffered (and declined) stuffing balls looked pale and unattractive. Yorkshire pudding was so-so. All the above served by the surliest person in the history of hospitality. “Roast” potatoes were actually “Burnt” potatoes. Black and inedible outside with an undercooked inside. Vegetables in the main insipid. Carrots virtually raw, cauliflower cheese cooked well, with a little bite remaining, but zero sauce, just what appeared to be a covering of cheese. Green beans were cooked to the point of destruction and consequently tasteless and limp. Also, serving dish was half full of water so beans subsequently leaked water on to plate. Gravy was nothing special unfortunately. I intended to raise these issues after the meal, but our waitress whisked away our plates before I had time, making reference towards the food left on our plates with a smile and a nod and a cheery “big ole dinners aren’t they!”, obviously not considering the remains were there due to an entirely different reason. I have tried to be as accurate and fair as possible in my review. I am not a food snob. Quite the reverse. I would find much more pleasure (and much, much better value) in a breakfast at the bus station café! I appreciate it is a carvery, so was not expecting fine dining, but it fell way short of being enjoyable even for that level. Based on this experience I would not visit again, nor would I recommend others do.

What a lovely pub. Rather rarely these days they serve a daily Carvery.... And I can say that this was the best Carvery I've ever had. No scrimping on portions, friendly staff.... Delicious. Pub has a number of nooks and crannies to sit in, very pleasant atmosphere. Maybe a tad expensive? But I'm being picky here, I heartily recommend it.

Fabulous so wonderful and worth the 250 miles to visit for the carvery. Actually we drove from Harleston, Norfolk to Herefordshire to visit the bungalow we are going to rent ( through Chancellors of Hay on Wye and Jane Carter is a wonderful Estate agent) for a few years and decided to visit our old haunts. The Bunch of Carrots, Hampton Bishop is and has always been top of our list. Fabulous food.

Menu a bit limited but well presented.

I don’t visit Hereford a lot, but stumbled across this place and was immediately created politely and shown to a table. Despite not having booked the front of house and kitchen staff are great and friendly would recommend.

Went for the Carvery today, 4 adults and 4 children. Absolutely fantastic. Cannot fault it. None of us could. The food is just outstanding. Everything is cooked so well. The roast potatoes are some of the best w we’ve had. The meat is so good. They continually refresh the carvery so nothing runs low. Just fabulous, every time we go they never disappoint. The children’s carvery is also huge. Just slightly less meat. My nieces are 14 and had a child’s carvery and it was the same size as my son who’s 5, as they use same size plate as the adult one. 5 stars for the carvery 👌

Quintessential British pub...One of our favourites in Hereford. Excellent management and staff, and dog friendly. Attracts a very relaxed and friendly style of clientele. In winter, it's fire places are great, and in summer has a nice lawn area for outside entertainment.

The food we had was very good. I thought the menu options could have been broader, and there were a couple of dishes unavailable restricting choice. However I couldn’t fault the meals we had. The service was good we didn’t have to wait long for our food to arrive and the staff friendly and helpful. The pub has a warm welcoming comfy atmosphere.

Terrible terrible. Where to start, we went with my parents after driving up from Cornwall. We arrived at no one bothering to come and see if we gave a table for at least 5 minutes, I work in a bar, so when the barmaid poured the first pint I asked her where the flake was, the head was massive. No smile nothing. Eventually we were told where to sit, we looked across a menu with pen mark changes! The menu was terrible so we went to look at the carvery, the chef said I hope you're not coming here to eat I am nowhere near ready. We decided to wait for a few moments at the table and again 10 mins later were asked what we wanted to eat. We chose 4 carvery, we should have left. The carvery was below average, below any standard of taste. Nothing good about it at all. My father paid for the meals and we left quickly. Don't waste your money here!

Very friendly and welcoming staff - superb food, seved quickly despite being busy, and a very nice couple of glasses of warming mulled wine in a Christmas mug!! Great place for a family lunch.

There were 4 of us for Christmas Lunch. The food was spot-on and the service was quick, efficient and very friendly!

Disappointing experience here on Christmas Eve. I ordered the fish and chips, which looked great, but as soon as I cut into the batter, I knew it wasn't cooked. The batter was too thick, and the inside was completely raw. I was reluctant to send it back as the other 5 guests were well through their meals however I was told it would only take 4 minutes to make a new one, seemed optimistic, but I said ok. It actually took closer to 10 minutes to arrive, and unfortunately the batter was as badly cooked as the first being completely raw again. Knowing we'd already sent one back you think the chef would have made sure this one was correct, but no, so I ended up having eat a few chips as my dinner (I say chips but actually they were skin on fries so wrongly described and not what should be served with fish). Overall a very disappointing meal, I think they need to retrain the chef if they are unable to make what is a staple and basic pub item. Whilst the fish wasn't charged for I think having 2 major errors meaning I couldn't eat with the rest of the group warranted slightly more attention from the management . Would stick to drinks only here.

Went for lunch and the food was great but the service is lacking waited over 30 mins for someone to ask if we wanted deserts but they never did .We just paid the bill and left

Overall a good atmosphere and steak was good after having sent the first one back. Manager dealt with this problem very professionally and took the price of the drinks off the menu to compensate. However, in reality, the food is overpriced for what it is. We had a nice table, but our experience was ruined by the people at the table next to us who spent most of their meal on 'phones and playing loud music/videos. Clearly, it is not the fault of the management that they they have uncultured customers who believe it is acceptable to bring 'phones to the table, but they could introduce a rule that they are not used in the restaurant for the benefit of others who would prefer real-time conversations and proper interaction with friends and family.

We had a family Xmas dinner party here. All had the carvery and it was excellent. I'm not usually a fan of carvery, but it was excellent here. Great value for money and very good quality. The staff were brilliant too. I have no reservations in recommending the Bunch Of Carrots to anyone and everyone. Top notch 👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻😊😊😊

The best chain carvery/pub in the area. Character building, close to river Wye walks and serving Wye Valley draft beer ! Carvery food and pub favourites it’s not fine dining but of its type it is excellent. Well trained dogs and children welcomed to a friendly family pub.

Lovely food, our server forgot multiple parts of our order but quickly resolved them. The pub was very loud as we did go at peak dinner time, a little music would have been nice to break up the chatter. Only minor details overall a good experience!!

Everything was acceptable except children's special meals were late and it would seem forgotten.
