The Sands Bar in Gwynedd

I called by Sands during the afternoon and had a beer. Me, “Are you showing the match this evening?” Bar staff, “Yes, but make sure you get in early to secure.” Me, “Ok. Absolutely..” I arrive at 18:55 for 19:30 kick off. Spoke with bar staff who confirms they’re showing the match I wished to watch. At ten minutes in during the second half, bar staff switch to a London Derby that has just kicked off. I then appeal that a number of patrons have already spent good money and been watching the ‘advertised’ match into the second half. This falls on deaf ears … A number of alienated customers, including me, then left. Many of us had already spent a fair amount at that point on food and drink. I am unlikely to return now and I’d been a regular for some time. The family have had a plot on the adjacent caravan site for 40 years. The lad next to me, a regular too for many years said he was not returning; feeling very let down. I appreciate that staff had difficult decisions to make but I’d made an effort in the afternoon to ensure the match was on and got in early that evening and arrived early as requested. We’d already watched 55 minutes of the match when it was turned over. Poor is an understatement …

It is what it is. Clean and friendly

Wow. The quality of the food and the flavours were outstanding more a kin to a posh restaurant. Well done to the chef. I had the Lamb Kofta Kebabs and would eat them over and over. So fresh so flavoursome. All three of us were more than happy with the food. Whatever the chef is paid, he needs a rise ☺️👍 and the food was quick to come out too.

Honestly this place is a hidden gem the food was outstanding . I had chicken tikka omg delicious and my bf had burger loved that . The cheesy garlic bread was amazing . Kids meals were great too just gutted I didt take pics eat it too fast lol

Googled The Sands, says takeaway! Went in Tuesday to order takeaway and they’re not doing food until Thursday. Call in Thursday for food and not doing takeaway!!!😡

This place is for the family put gets full very quick so have to sit outside alot. Larger is horrible

Always enjoy a visit or 2 here..so do the kids.. food is always good and well presented.

Can't grumble however be careful, every single meal 'deal' is more expensive than buying them seperate. Roe is £2.20, chips is £2.80. Yet there meal deal is advertised as the exact same price. Battered sausage is £2.40, chips are £2.80. Meal deal advertised as £5.60. Did tell the server and she laughed and said she's never noticed.

Loves this place foods lovely and lovely atmosphere Just wanted to ask if you are open end of October and first week in November And if the American diner is open as well in oct/nov

Great food friendly staff family friendly place with a good atmosphere and excellent entertainment and they have a separate room so you can take your dog too

Can't fault the food and service.. Had 3 meals here while staying on site. Food was very tasty and well presented. Staff very friendly, can't say the same for the weather 🤣. 5***** for the food.

Had drinks here one night followed by food & drinks the following evening. Served by Rocko both evenings. The food was fabulous and plenty, one of the best pub food we have had. Service was attentive, served with a happy smile, and helpful attitude from lovely young man. Makes a change from grumpy teenagers serving Thank you Rocko and everyone else who worked there.

Great meal food was fantastic would recommend 11 of us turned up at 6:30, we were all eating before 7:30, ask the chef if your GF, he will accommodate you excellent

Went to the "Sands" especially for the Sunday lunch. Recommended by the very friendly, polite waiter the day before. The food was excellent. Served by a very friendly chef, giving a very good amount of meat(pork and beef) All the veg you could eat is self service. As for the "Sands" it's many years since we've been. As I recall it smelt of damp and needed a refurb. Damp smell is still slight but the whole place has definitely had a refurb. (looking good) All in all a good place to visit if staying in Talybont

Pizza is absolutely beautiful fresh tomatoe base!

Served by Shane today, we had the cajun chicken and kofta kebab with all the trimmings was really the best meat,cooked to prefection added with a home made delicious flat bread 😋 would highly recommend. Usually, I wouldn't have dessert, but the homemade lemon drizzle cake and ice cream were recommended and did not fail another 10/10. We will be back soon. Thanks again 🙂

Came in to watch the football match. Place was empty no atmosphere then went home #@#@#

Always have a drink in here when we stay at Talybont nice clean bar

Had fish and chips here as we were stopping on the site next door. Food was great and the fish is freshly cooked! Bear in mind this chip shop is cash only! They also have a pizza shop.

New management did a good job refurbishing and are friendly.👍

Friendly pub , no thrills sports bar, in back room, that allow dogs now. Very handy on rainy day

Staff are rude, brought back memories, the guy with the burger stall is the only reason this got a 3 star if he had his own little set up would definitely have been a 5 top bloke

This complex is great for all the family there is a bar ,shop ,fast food and a amusement arcade with places to sit outside on a nice day there's plenty of free parking and to top it all it's only about 100 yards to the beach

Food was good but very basic. We ordered a £12 burger and chips. When it came the plate was empty, with a small burger and only a very small amount of chips no salad at garnish on the plate. Very disappointed. Definitely not value for money.

Really busy, everything is very cramped in the evenings and it's probably a COVID hotspot, I wouldn't go again. Everyone is in a mood and everything is very loud and noisy

Ate indoors, very clean and tables well spread out. Have to say kids meals very generous; all the food was very tasty, and piping hot. Would definitely use it again.

Food was nice and not bad priced for the seaside, shop was clean and staff friendly the only problem I had was they don't take card and the only cash machine on site is broken the next nearest place is a good drive to get cash. Other than that it would have got 5 stars

Prebooked for large group of 12+baby. Got put on 2 small tables so there was wasn't much space. My Steak was nice, but my sisters was overcooked however. Looked well done. But she wanted medium and finally there was no desert available.

Lovely place, friendly staff and family friendly. Only downside is they don't offer hot drinks.

Sunday lunch at £9.95 was over priced for what was on offer choice of either beef or pork limited veg. In the Past it was £1 CHEAPER and 3 course.

The Atlantic beer is fantastic. Service very good. Food is average pub food. Quite expensive.

All good I had the carvery only gripe was the parsnips were undercooked to me they shouldn't have a crunch and considering I arrived at 12 noon opening time this wasn't the hottest meal but the beef was lush

Nice venue. Looks like it's just had a re furb. Food is great n well priced, large selection of draft beers n ales. Staff are very welcoming.

We played here recently. A great venue. It's large, has a stage and in house lights and management were very helpful with storing our gear. Clean toilets, ice cold drinks on a warm Easter weekend and a great team of staff. Had I needed my wheelchair, it would have been perfectly accessible. The amount of times we saw staff holding doors for people was brilliant. We were very impressed.

Decent place to sit. No effort made whatsoever with the drinks. It's the 21st century for godsake. We have real ale, keg ale, lager, bottles. Etc.

Came to your pub while on our holiday and I had to wait 10 minutes before I got served had half a pint of beer and was charged full price then the barmaid was rude and said we are doing last orders but still carried on servicing to her mates toilets was dirty toilet paper all over the floor and my beer tasted like sludge
