This was our first visit and it will not be our last. A lovely experience. We booked for dinner in the ‘bar’ with our dog. On arrival we were warmly greeted by a very professional and attentive young lady and the manager who showed us to a table next to the fire (perfect for the dog to stretch out) The bar area is extremely comfortable and roomy which meant we didn’t have to worry about our dog encroaching on other diners. The menu has a good choice of three courses and the food was beautifully presented and of excellent quality with plentiful vegetables and all piping hot. The wine list has reasonably priced options and the bar is well stocked with gins and whisky’s. We thoroughly enjoyed the evening an unhurried and very relaxed meal with our dog also being treated by staff, I wasn’t going to give much of my delicious steak away!!

The food is very good. The experience needs work. On arrival I wanted to sit in the cozy bar by the fire for an aperitif. I was told we couldn’t do this and we’d have to go to the table and order drinks there. We were then sat very close to another couple in an empty restaurant. I could hear the bloke next to me clearer than my own husband. We ordered our food over a pint and vodka at the table. This was not a great start. The wine list wasn’t badly priced but we went through the wine list with Vivino and everything was rated average so we opted for a carafe of red which arrived after we’d finished the first course. The wine was very drinkable. The wine list requires work. The food was good, though I had fish cakes which included mackerel, a fish I’ve never had in a fish cake and didn’t enjoy. Everything else was delish.

Fabulous atmosphere, attentive but unobtrusive service, with amazing food and accompanying wines. Michelin quality food at very reasonable price. You know you've had a quality meal when you can recall the tastes a week later. We both had different dishes but not one disappointed. Really special!

We had a delicious dinner during our Jazz festival weekend in Leyburn. The food was delicious and there was plenty of choice, everything was very fresh and well presented. We had a lovely bottle of wine from a great wine list. The service was excellent and very friendly. We will definitely visit again next time we are in Leyburn

My husband and I have wanted to eat here for a long time but don’t live locally. We visited Leyburn for the weekend in order to do so but we were unable to stay as their two rooms were already booked (Clyde House opposite was excellent by the way). The venue is friendly and the bar area more cosy than the main dining area; which was a bit sparsely decorated. We received a warm welcome and the service was very good. The food was very tasty - I had the wood pigeon with plum and beetroot salad starter which was delicious and my husband his tempura squid was also very good. The duck with sesame sauce was too spicy for my husband so we swapped our mains between us and he had my lamb instead (Just a poor choice by him for his taste - I would have happily eaten either.) Our puddings were excellent and everything was washed down with some good wines by the glass. I would happily eat here again as we were not disappointed and I would recommend a visit if you are in the area.

Just back from a visit with friends to this great eatery, are first visit and none of us were disappointed. My partner and I both had the Lamb for main course, cooked to perfection and very tender, in a blueberry jus with vegetables and salad, just Devine . Followed by Crème brûlée with ginger biscuit . Again a delightful dessert. Small but clean toilets, great staff and service, a very nice tastefully decorated restaurant. And for a top restaurant the price was not too bad at all. Look forward to another visit next year. Many thanks to all the staff.

Great relaxing dinner, friendly staff and warm atmosphere. We sat in the bar area which was great for us as we had two dogs with us but the restaurant looked just as cozy.

We have been visiting Leyburn for years but had never actually been to The Sandpiper before, and what a mistake we’ve made there! Such fantastic service, ambience, choice of wines and, most importantly, food! 6 of us were all incredibly impressed with our choices and the standard of each dish was incredible, so much so that most of us had to try a dessert too although that’s never a chore for me! I’m not going to make a particular recommendation because everything was fabulous!

My friend and I took a while to find this inn at the end of a short dead end road of the market square. On entering the inn I explained we had parked where a car was parked up the side of the hill. It was confirmed that the parked car was not needed for a long time. We were offered seats around noon whereever we wanted to sit and dine. Drinks were ordered and soon delivered by one of the pleasant, helpful staff. My friend ordered starters but I just wanted a main meal. After the starter empty dishes were cleared my main meal, mutton, was served. The square of mutton must have been slow cooked as it easily broke into small fragments. It was delicious and the sauces added many delicate flavours. I am a nonagenarian so I do not eat large dishes. My friend and I will definitely return to this inn.

We love this place and always bring friends when staying in the area. The staff are all so friendly and Mandy who runs the restaurant always makes us feel welcomed like old friends. The food itself is incredible, they have a fantastic chef and the menu changes every couple of months. The monkfish tempura cheeks to start were great. I always have the tagliatelle with salmon and prawns, it can't be beaten. Their steak is always a winner too. Desserts are beautifully presented and taste just as good. Give this place a go, you will not be disappointed. See you again soon.

We visited The Sandpiper while on holiday in Ripon. The food was the best we have ever tasted. I had the risotto and my husband had the lamb. They were also dog firendly.

Lovely pub/restaurant. Been a couple of times before, but several years ago. Staff were excellent and very friendly. Had bread and hummus initially. The hummus was home made and absolutely gorgeous! Had the calamari starter and the fish tagliatelle, both of which were fabulous. Sticky toffee pudding was also good . Highly recommended and definitely as good as our previous visits.

Took my wife for her birthday treat and were not disappointed. Beautifully presented food cooked to perfection and served in a cosy yet classy setting. Friendly service, good selection of beers, wines and other drinks. A bit more expensive than other local places, but worth every penny.

Cosy pub vibes with fine dining food. The tenderstem brocoli starter was recommended by a friend and wow it is probably one of the best starters i’ve ever had! For main we had trout which was also good but the dish as a whole lacked seasoning and was nothing amazing, although the fish was cooked perfectly. Dessert was also good but nothing stand out. The ice cream tasted slightly on the cheaper side. Overall a good place for a meal out. More on the expensive sides with most mains being £20.

The meal we had and the service were perfect from beginning to end. The ingredients were simple, fresh and expertly cooked. It was one of those meals that you really don’t want to end. We had dinner here on the recommendation of the hotel we were staying at (Stow House) and it was by far our favourite of the holiday; wish we lived locally so we could eat there regularly!!

We did the dine and stay offer for a birthday. The food was superb and the service faultless The room was a good size, clean and comfortable with a large ensuite. The bed was enormous and very comfortable. However the experience was spoilt by the noise etc coming from the adjacent room which continued till 4 am! I feel that a polite notice in rooms asking guests to consider others may be helpful. Given the age of the building, soundproofing may not be an option.

Attended a wedding fayre last weekend and was impressed with the set up until I saw the shabby state of the outside area. There were rotten pontoons and every piece of fencing needed replacing. The location is popular because of the lake it is at the side of. Sadly any wedding photos will be marred by the sheer look of neglect going on outside. It looks to have been many years since any kind of maintenance has been done. With the money it costs to have a wedding at the location, the least I would have hoped for would have been some care and attention to the location that will be a part of many newly married couples wedding pictures. Very disappointing indeed.
