The Salt House in North Tyneside

Visited today in an unplanned visit as we were desperate to have a good traditional Sunday lunch . Whilst at £15 the cost is on the top end scale, the food did not disappoint. Gorgeous cooked beef , accompanied with the perfect crispy roast potatoes and a good sized homemade Yorkshire pudding. The only disappointment was the service... While not terrible in any way it was sadly non existent! After the initial first drink and food ordered and arrived we saw nothing more of anyone and had to make a real effort to find someone for the bill. In a time where service is paramount in not only ensuring the customers are happy and become recurring guests . The need to obviously try and gain extra sales with more drinks and desserts wasn't obviously required. The restaurant wasn't busy and staff found time to chat to themselves in the detriment of its customers. Would i return... maybe, the food is that good but the service needs reviewing to really wow customers to be repeat customers

We were pleasantly surprised with the Sunday 'roast' lunch. It could have been a bit hotter when it arrived, but that was the only negative. There is also a separate dog-friendly section in the restaurant that works well. The starters and desserts on Sunday seem to be from the tapas menu offered on other days and were not the best 'fit' with a roast lunch in our opinion. Not a sticky toffee pudding in sight.

Fabulous staff...always well looked after. Had the pork Sunday lunch which was nice ..but didnt blow me away.... like the reviews suggest. I do love this place...great tapas on previous visits...but was a bit dissapointed on my Sunday visit ...a bit sad to see i was billed for an extra jug of gravy....when the lunch is just under £16... paying extra is step too far... never ever been charged for extra gravy!

Another one, the staff here really make an effort and do anything they can to make your night. The girls on front of house really need to be applauded for their amazing work. Love the drinks,the food and the atmosphere. There is a reason it's a weekly visit.

Visited the Salthouse last night to watch the choir perform. The atmosphere was so lovely and the choir were amazing. I absolutely loved my tapas dishes that I had and did my friends. The staff were very attentive and the service was fast which I was very impressed by with how busy the place was! Credit to all the staff both kitchen and serving staff. Will definitely be returning. Visited here Friday night for the first time. Had heard many good things about the salthouse and I have to say both the food and the service were both amazing. We came for a roast dinner and it did not disappoint. Ordered bread and olives along with the manchego bites for starters and the chicken and beef for our mains. All of the food was very tasty and the serving staff were conscientious and present. Will definitely come again. Always a great ambience every time we visit.

Second visit to Salthouse to ensure our first experience wasn’t a fluke! Service was a bit slow so we ordered a jug of their incredible sangria until our perfectly cooked, high quality, fresh food arrived (more than justifying the wait). We were impressed by the fabulous Taste of Spain charcuterie and cheese board, in addition to the delicious tombet, whitebait and spicy chicken wings. All absolutely delicious and some of the nicest tapas we’ve ever had in the UK! We will definitely return.

Visited for Sunday lunch after trying the tapas a few weeks ago. The service was slow last time, and it was the same again - around an hour to receive our food. Plenty of meat n the plate, but only a bit of cabbage and a few peas in terms of veg. It could have definitely done with more of a variety. Overall very average, with a very long wait.

Held a private function here , the food was amazing and plentiful , everyone had a great time .would recommend to anyone wanting a venue for private function

Appalling serice. It was late lunchtime and not very busy. After waiting 50 mins for our cold platter for two we were disappointed to find it was not very substantial despite a fairly high cost. Not recommended
