What a welcoming, hospitable place. If you ever need cheering up, this is the place to go. We were made welcome immediately, and tony the owner had us in stiches from the start. Everyone there were so friendly, and what had started as an intended short visit, led to us staying to closing. Met some brilliant characters, who all just made our day. Dog friendly too, which was an added bonus to us. Can't recommend enough.

We went to the salmon looking for their "homemade pizzas" that they display on their nice looking website and so we're shocked when we were told that since lockdown 1 their pizza oven had been broken. Maybe it would have been useful to update the website since then? Our next shock was the lack of food there was especially after being told everything on the menu was in stock. For example six of us went and three ordered gammon, only to be told there were only 2 pieces of gammon left. Which was a big let down as we had to work out who would be gammonless that evening. Then we waited for what felt like an average amount of time, can't complain there, for our food. There were many complaints regarding the food and overall it could be improved quite a bit. I shan't go into detail here as I could be here a while! Overall from what we could tell, the salmon is not the best place in the area to go for a meal. Hopefully soon they improve as they have a lot of potential to have impressed us more.

Phoned to make a reservation for a table for 4 people and asked if we could take our small dog. We were told it would not be a problem, I reiterated to the person on the phone are you sure we can bring the dog? Of course. Upon arrival we were told we could not sit in with the dog we had to sit outside in the wind. I was not very pleased. The guy on the door was not very friendly and just said Head Office decision. Won’t be returning. How ever we did get a fantastic reception and meal at the Brewers Arms around the corner.

We needed somewhere to break our journey, so stopped here, minutes from the A1. The Pub is spotlessly clean, particularly the toilets. Staff and regulars are friendly. Service was good and the food offerd good value, although the portions might be a bit small for some, they suited us perfectly. We`ll be back.

As someone who is a regular visitor to Northumberland me and my family have frequented this pub several times over the years. The menu has always been very varied and the food delicious. However after not being for a few years we called in yesterday hoping for a meal. We were first struck by the pungent smell of dirty dogs, (and dogs running around the pub) - the pub used to be dog free, a great thing for us as my son has a dog allergy, the pub also looked very run down and in desperate need of some decorating. We ordered drinks but made the decision not to eat, which was a good thing, because when the menu was brought to us there was barely any choice and absolutely nothing appealing on there whatsoever. The pub was also virtually empty. It is a shame as this was a once extremely popular pub. The only one positive thing I could say was the lady behind the bar was very friendly. It had the whole feel that this business is being ran half-heartedly.

We are staying at the local caravan site and decided to try the local for a meal . We were a little sceptical as I’d read some reviews . But we always like to make our own mind up. Friendly owners, Friendly locals and dog Friendly. Good pub food, we had the steak pie , good sized portions, I couldn’t finish mine, we will be going again tomorrow , why bother cooking in the caravan when we can get a good meal with a pint in a friendly atmosphere, just along the road.I would recommend the salmon inn

Popped in for lunch whilst visiting nearby Berwick and enjoyed a lovely pint and cheeseburger with the Mr. He said it was the nicest kept pint all week (coors). Had read mixed reviews about the food but our meals were fine-pretty standard pub grub, but not the cheapest we’ve had. £26 for two cheeseburgers and chips(garnish of salad), a pint and a coke isn’t the best value for money, but the friendly staff, beer garden (which we sadly didn’t get to use owing to the wettest August on record!) and homely atmosphere means we’ll probably be back next time we’re in the area.

We went here after reading the great reviews on TA and the good pics of homemade food! Staff were welcoming and dog friendly which is a plus. Lady brought out a small handwritten menu (absolutely fine) every main was £10, after seeing the pics on TA we thought anything we picked would be nice. We went for fish and chips (states they specialise in fresh fish being near the sea) and steak pie...we we really disappointed when mains came out...most pubs in this area/borders batter their own fish but what came out was a triangle shaped clearly frozen fish with oven chips and a horrible tasting packet tartare sauce, the steak pie we recieved had a pastry top that was flat and slightly overcooked (Not fabulously puffy and light as we were expecting) now the filling for the steak pie was clearly tinned steak as it was mushy/shredded and had that tinned taste with peas mixed in which we thought was rather odd..again served with oven chips and more peas! It was OK probably slightly overpriced for frozen tinned food and basically we won't be returning.

Called in with my wife for an evening meal after having lovely food there last year. My wife and I were really surprised, when given the menu, to find a hand written piece of paper on a clip board with approximately six items on there. We both ordered the cheese burger, mine without cheese, and what came was just that. Burger accompanied by about a dozen chips. There was no other accompaniment on the plate. At first we thought it was a starter meal. It was only £10.00 for each meal but was presented quite poorly. The girl that showed us to our seat was really pleasant and cheery and it was a joy to be served by her. If the food was the same standard as the server then we would certainly go back, as it is I doubt it!

I regularly return to Berwick to visit family and have often visited the Salmon. It’s always been good but since under new management I’m even more impressed. Lovely area outside with plenty tables which was a great option to have. Kids could play on grass away from the road and the dog got to stretch his legs instead of being stuck in the car. They even had water out for any visiting dogs which was handy!! Decent sized portions, hot food and friendly staff.

Due to the venue we wanted to visit being unfortunately fully booked we thought we were lucky to get a table for 7 on Easter Sunday (yeh with hindsight maybe we should have taken that as a sign). On arrival, having perused the one and only hand written menu for the pub, and balked slightly at a single course Sunday dinner price of £10, we all ordered and then a mere 35 minutes later our teeny, weeny plates of food were delivered. I asked the nice lady who served us if the rest was coming and she gave me a nudge and a chuckle in a “oh you” type manner. At this point we did ask to speak to someone in charge and were told everyone was too busy to speak to us at present but they would come when they could. Food rapidly consumed (doesn’t take long to eat child portions plus the lumpy mash and frozen Yorkshire weren’t very hot) and we were still waiting. Eventually the barmaid stropped over (25 mins later). Clearly a member of the basil fawlty school of customer service she accused us of moaning, stated no over has ever ever complained about the food (trip advisor begs to differ) and flatly refused to take any of our complaints on board. After shouting at us for several minutes she graciously (not) took £2 off each main course.

"All our food is homemade from scratch". I dispute this. After almost a one hour wait, we were served what I can only describe as a 'frozen meal'. My guests, who live locally, were embarrassed having suggested we come here. Is it any wonder that Berwick has a dwindling tourist trade when visitors are presented with meals like ours. Chef should be ashamed. We will not be returning. Not interested in your reply.

Staying at ord house country park and we wanted a meal but have a dog and caravan park don’t allow them inside the grill so we opted to try this local pub that said we could bring our dog inside as they have an area you can sit. The menu wasn’t vast but my husband fancied steak and ale pie and even though it wasn’t on the menu the landlord was very accommodating and offered to make him a beef pie instead, I opted for slow braised beef with mash, carrots and onion gravy which was delicious. The locals were extremely friendly and the landlord was very enthusiastic to please offering nibbles on the bar free of charge like roast potatoes, chicken wings, drumsticks and for the sweet tooth millionaires shortcake. Would recommend and hopefully will return again, just hope it stays in the same hands

Disappointing as we drove there because web search showed it as dog-friendly and we have always found Northumberland good in this respect.

Haven't been in for a while and stopped off for lunch. It was very quiet, even though it was a Saturday, but may be worth revisiting for anyone local. The bar person was very good, knew the menu and dealt with everything smoothly. It was all made so easy and we opted for fish and chips. Great batter, better than average chips and large pieces of fish. The salad alternative to mushy peas was excellent. This was all a good step up from our last visit although it might be nice to see more than one guest ale. It's also reasonably priced.

Just popped in and had fish and chips, absolutely fantastic, I have had fish and chips from all over the country, these were as good as Rick stein would have served, beautiful crisp batter with moist flaked fish inside, fabulous home made chips and lush mushy peas, situated just off the A1 well worth a visit, guaranteed you won't be disappointed

Went here for Sunday lunch today as we are staying in Berwick upon Tweed and thoroughly enjoyed the meal. We had 2 beef dinners. There was plenty of beef and the veg was nice and fresh and hot. Great value at 10£ each. I went on to have the sticky toffee pudding and my wife had the pavlova and again both were excellent. Service with a smile and great value.

We are regular visitors to the Salmon Inn because the food is most enjoyable and doesn't cost a fortune. Mine host is Geordie with his wife Karen the chef. Both friendly and happy to see you. A great choice on the menu with extras on the specials board.

It is very nice for noisy boisterous families in the back end of this pub, but by it's very nature it can be chaotic at times as it is so busy. Saturday lunchtimes in particular are like this, nice and friendly and the meals are value for money and lot's of choice for the kid,s.

We called here for lunch and received a warm and friendly welcome. The atmosphere in general was very pleasant. We only wanted a light lunch and chose vegetarian lasagne and a soup and sandwich combination. Both were very good. The menu is reasonably extensive and includes meals for all tastes and prices are fair for pub food in this area. Service was efficient and helpful. We would return here.

Came here with my family whilst on holiday in Berwick. The majority of us had the Sunday roast which was Turkey, Beef or Pork served with veg, potatoes and Yorkshire puds; all were nice. The vegetable lasagne and mushroom stroganoff were also nice. Would return here again as it was a nice pub.

Had evening meal during recent family holiday, food was excellent, great quality specials and also from main menu. Good portions and lots of freshly sourced produce. Cost wise, for what we collectively ordered with drinks, very good value. Staff are very helpful and attentive, good location on the outskirts of Berwick-Upon-Tweed. Would have no hesitation in going back or recommending to others.

An absolute gem on the Holy Island! We stopped here to grab a sandwich, some cake, and a drink to take with us as we explored the island. The customer service was excellent, the owner was an absolute delight and super helpful. The food is delicious, and a really good selection too! And on top of all that they sell maps and books of the island as well, it really is a must visit and a one stop shop for everything you need on your island adventures!

Fantastic!! Service, food and value, 6 of us all had different meals. All served together piping hot, huge quantities and absolutely gorgeous. Couldn't manage a pudding but they looked fabulous too.

Stopped in for breakfast on the way to do a walk at Kielder. Loved the place. Fantastic , well cooked , quality breakfast. Decent size and good value at £10.50 including toast and a brew. Couldn’t fault the food. One of the best breakfasts we’ve had. Ticked all the boxes for us. Dog friendly. Liked Falstone so much did a walk from there instead of Kielder and came back to the Old School for dessert. Bread and Butter pudding with cream or custard ! Although I was tempted by the Old School sponge. Thank you for a lovely experience
