The food was just as good as the service, the staff were lovely, and the food didn't take long to come out. The food was delicious, and we look forward to coming back here.

I was served for a take away even though they were not open yet. Thank you for that - we were really hungry!

Poor service by the female waitress at 1:30pm on 15 Sep. Very IMPOlITE , NO SMILES even you say thank you to her. The waiter is fine. Terrible experience. The pho is OKAY. Won’t go there again.

Great food, ultra-friendly staff and warm atmosphere.

We booked for the evening and were seated in a quieter part of the restaurant which was good for us. The food was good - had the oysters, veggie, and meat spring rolls. For mains: three specials - pork shoulder, the chicken thighs. I ordered off the normal menu- the one with meatballs and bbq'd meat (bun cha). The whole table went silent when eating which was a really good sign that the food is delicious. Good portion size too. Cocktails were so-so, not that impressed with the b52 (tiny drink for £9.50) but the mojito was to standard.

This place is GREAT. Some of the loveliest waiting staff I’ve met in Bristol, really good food and pretty reasonably priced.

The best Vietnamese restaurant in Bristol. They have a unique array of dishes you can choose from that isn't just your typical Pho. The smoothies are also incredible, I recommend the mango smoothie as the mango's actually taste ripe and tropical compared to the British mango. It's a smaller restaurant so I recommend booking beforehand because they can get very busy :)

The best Bun Cha I’ve found in Bristol, it’s comparable to the many I’ve eaten on the streets of Hanoi. Every time I’ve come I’ve ordered the Bun Cha to satisfy my craving, but there are many dishes which looks amazing, I must one day try some of them.

Suitable for allergies as the staffs were really careful and conscious about food allergies when they knew our kid had allergies. Very nice decor inside, super friendly staffs. Each dish has lots of food and very tasty as well. We forgot to take pictures of very well decor dishes. Highly recommend

I love coming to The Saigon Kitchen. The food is always so tasty and full of rich flavours. The staff are always attentive and the service is quick. My go to is always the pork meatballs with a tasty broth. I also enjoy trying the ever changing specials they have on offer. The spring rolls are a must! As is the ‘hangover cure’ Pho on a Sunday

Quite possibly the best meal I've ever had in Bristol. Attentive service, delicious food and great beer in a nice relaxing environment. I will be back and making sure to recommend The Saigon Kitchen at every opportunity!

Average food, overpriced, sticky table but the staff were really friendly.

Disappointed , made a booking , given a table , first going we were told we had to give up the table after 90 minutes , starters were ok , spring rolls , we ordered 4 different main courses , all about £17 - £18 without sides . All tasted the same , large cubes or pork with an unflavoured broth , I ordered a beef dish , came with a bread roll and the beef tasted of pork . Didn’t stay for desserts . We thought it was overpriced for what we had and pretty tasteless . Shame as we were looking forward to going there . Wouldn’t go back sadly . Service was ok , cheapest bottle of wine £27.50 plus service charge , £30 . Way overpriced for a £5 bottle of wine .

I’m not sure I’ve ever been to a more friendly restaurant. Lovely, lovely people and the most amazing tasty traditional food. Dishes were plentiful - all 4 of us were full - and superbly presented. As for the venue; perfectly sized with welcoming decor and cleanliness. Great place for my birthday with ace cocktails too. Thank you 😊

Mixed feelings about this one. Starters (rice paper spring rolls and a mussel dish off the specials) were very good. Mains were OK, vegetables and beef good, pork a little dry and uninspiring. We didn’t get to try dessert as we ran out of time on the table. For a table of two we were given a 1.5 hour slot. They hadn’t allowed any handover time though (we had a booking at 7 and someone else was on the table at 8.30), so that meant they needed us to have ordered, eaten, paid and left in less than 90 minutes. For that to work they need to be running a seriously slick service and unfortunately, they aren’t. For example, our orders weren’t taken until 7.25. Sorry Saigon Kitchen, but if you are only allowing 90 minutes on the table, you need to do better than that. They are clearly victims of their own success. The restaurant was very busy, and they seemed to have crammed in as many tables as possible. I probably wouldn’t come back because it was an annoying evening when I’d travelled halfway across town to get there. But if I lived just around the corner, I might give them another go.

We enjoyed takeaway from this place - pork spring rolls, plus a beef and a chicken dish and boiled rice. Good flavours, but the choice seemed a bit limited - normally Vietnamese restaurants have much bigger menus. I wouldn’t recommend eating in the restaurant - it was cramped and noisy. Price was £45 (no automatic service charge).

Booked a table for 10 for a birthday party. Arrived at the establishment and they had cancelled the booking. So be aware this could happen to you!

We ordered 1 portion of pork and mushroom spring rolls, chicken thigh special, and pan-fried cod. The price was good, the quality of the food was great, but the portion sizes were quite small - neither of us were entirely satisfied by the end of the meal, and my partner has a small appetite generally. The restaurant is very intimate and quite tightly packed. You will brush elbows with other customers. The service was good from very polite and attentive staff, but we felt rushed throughout the meal, particularly at the end, despite having only been at the table for an hour of our hour and a half slot. Overall, the experience was good but probably not enough to make us return

Had a fantastic meal here last night. Food was very tasty and portion sizes generous. The staff were friendly, my friend was on a special diet and they were really accommodating. Only neititve is it is very cramped in there, having to squeeze past tables.

A real little gem in Bristol’s food scene. Super friendly service, a lovely laid back atmosphere and absolutely fantastic food. The pork spring rolls were delicious (as was everything else!) but the stuffed squid special was a real stand out. If you see it on the menu order it immediately!

I’m afraid I find this place a little over rated! The food comes out very quick. Food ok, often a little greasy and you’re in and out v quick. Not the place for you if you’re looking for a longer dining experience.

It's a nice neighbourhood restaurant. I've been a couple of times and both times I was not overly impressed by their food or service. Maybe I'm a bit picky as have been to really good Vietnamese restaurants elsewhere.

Food was absolutely delicious! And plenty of gluten free options. Only downside is that it's pretty pricey, especially as most of the mains don't come with rice so you have to order it on the side.

One of the best Vietnamese experience which I had in Bristol! It can be pretty busy but stuff is very friendly and apologetic. The prices are a bit higher comparing to other Viet restaurants but the quality is on a totally different level.

What a treat. Food was fresh, hearty and satisfying. Really impressed that the whole menu is gluten free and as a coeliac that minimises any possible contamination in the kitchen. Excellent service, great atmosphere, all round great place.

Amazing! Lovely, cosy, little place that is soon expanding. Ladies' servers were wonderful. The chef is a very friendly, kind, generous person. The kind chef everyone could have as a role model. The food was good if you like Vietnamese cuisine, but the noodles were cold, and my dish (Cha Ca La Vong) was whole at room temperature, wasn’t expecting that

Really enjoyed this place, booked the last table available at 9.15 and ended up eating quickly because they were closing shop. The atmosphere when we came in was amazing though, and the food was delicious!

Came here for a date night because we love Vietnamese food. They have a modern take to Vietnamese food, especially the starters. Fresh, nicely balanced acidity and juiciness. They also do hot and cold Vietnamese coffee both worth a try. They also have Sunday special menu. Place is a little crowded but I would go back again

It's a small place, and the noise level can be a bit much, so we had to switch seats to hear ourselves talk. But let me tell you, the staff were on point! Super friendly and attentive. And the food! I'm not one to gush over meals, but it's been a while since I've had food this good. Overall, I'd give them a solid 5/5 for both service and food. The noise inside was a bit uncomfortable, so maybe sitting outside next time would be a good idea.

Authentic Vietnamese food. Which is delicious. Friendly helpful staff.

Great service, warm and bustling ambience, average portions but food under-seasoned. Dips and sauces rather dilute and flavourless without complementing their accompanying dishes and adding the zing and interest. Too many components repeated across the menu eg mango salad with prawn crackers, mango salad with main course. It’s nice to have more variety. Desserts rather limited and cater to British taste.

Really enjoyed my visit here, staff were very attentive and friendly. I had the pork broth with meatballs which was really nice & filling. Very flavourful and I very much h enjoyed. One star down just because I'd love to see some curries on the menu, my pork had a lot of super chewy fat in it which I ended up trying to hide on my plate as I just couldn't chew through it & no Pho except Sundays???

L'endroit se veut assez luxe même s'il ne faut pas trop regarder les détails: nappes tachées, murs abîmés, déco convenue. Mai dans l'ensemble ça présente bien. Par contre le cuisinier connaît son métier! Prix plus chers que la moyenne mais la qualité est là. Deuxième avantage: l'heure d'ouverture très tardive: ce restaurant accepte encore des clients à 22h, ce qui est rare en Angleterre.

Excellent and attentive service, we had different staff serve and tend to us, all knowledgable and friendly. Food was sublime, this was my first time having Vietnamese food and I left feeling like I had been missing out on this my whole life! The atmosphere was perfect, it’s cosy and feels like you’re eating in somebody’s home, a truly great experience that I wish more restaurants would try to create. Will definitely be returning soon!

Blandest food ever. Pork spring rolls were just minced pork, couldn’t see any other ingredients. No flavour at all. Dipping sauce was ok but not much flavour. I had the pork off the special list, it was supposed to be cooked in coconut milk. When it came there wasn’t even a hint of coconut. I eventually informed the manager that there was no coconut, she fetched some extra sauce. When the sauce came it looked totally different, it was cloudy and had a very subtle coconut flavour. It was as if the pork had been boiled in water, our Sunday roast pork is way tastier. We got given a crème caramel for dessert to make up for the poor food, it tasted quite eggy and had very runny watery sauce. We’ll never go back, complete waste of money unfortunately. We were expecting some really tasty food and just left feeling so let down. The basic flavours of garlic, lemongrass and ginger were just not there.

A mixed experience. My partner and I attended for lunch on a Friday. We found the music (chart music) was at a distracting volume inside and so asked to sit outside which was readily facilitated. The restaurant styling was appealing inside and out. Prices for drinks seemed a little expensive, particularly soft drinks. The waiter was very sweet and attentive, and the food arrived promptly. We chose a fish dish and beef stir-fry. Perhaps it was that it was lunchtime, but both dishes were a little disappointing unfortunately. The flavours weren't particularly special or moorish, topped off by a slightly sad looking lettuce leaf on the side! Might be worth trying again for dinner given most of the feedback is so positive, but I won't be rushing back personally. ADDENDUM - have spoken to other friends about this place and they've had the same slightly disappointing experience unfortunately, even at evening sittings.

Great little place well situated on the side of Gloucester Road with amazing food and excellent service. Food was delicious and the whole time there was a great experience. Highly recommended.

My partner's food was nice but I had the special and it was a very unpleasant experience. Billed as squid with pork it was just a giant lot of sausage meat stuffed into a badly cooked and way too chewy squid case. It was very very difficult to eat with chopsticks because you couldn't separate the two parts and it was sliced into pieces but way too big to put into your mouth at once. The meat was seasoned with unpleasant and too strong bitter herbs so you couldn't actually taste any sense of pork or squid. There was a lime and chilli dip... Sounds nice.. just tasted like toilet cleaner. There were absolutely no vegetables!!!!!! And this expensive dish doesn't come with noodles or rice so that was extra! My partner's food looked lush, colourful, balanced and delicious and the waiters explained the traditional way to eat it. It felt like an event. (The pork meat balls). Then mine came... Oh.. just a giant (euphemistic) sausage on a plate. No ceremony. No advice. So, it looked off-putting, was difficult to eat, wasn't a full balanced meal and tasted terrible. No apology or offer to rectify in any way when I told them how I didn't enjoy and some of it was inedible. Just explained to me why it's like that.. silly me for not understanding!! I love Vietnamese food. This was Bad. The dessert we shared (in the hope of getting something nice from the experience) was billed as passion fruit, but no passion fruit could be tasted at all. Just caramelly. Nice enough but not what it said. Everything else about the place was great tho. Nice atmosphere.

Went on Sunday and all they serve is pho and spring rolls, meat or veggie options. Simple but so delicious and the margs were delicious also. Will definitely go back for full menu options.

Best pho Ha Noi in the city! And you can get bang Quan (fried dough sticks) on the side as well, which I've not been able to find anywhere else in Bristol. Lovely service, great food, come for a Sunday hangover cure :)

Really enjoyed our meal here. We sat outside in the evening sun and the place was packed with people so a great atmosphere. We shared the mango salad to start which was so fresh and delicious and perfectly light. I had the special pork dish for main which was soooooo tasty and tender and we shared a rice. Great place would come again. Only minor downside was the drinks could have been a tiny bit colder

Amazing cuisines cooked with love

We had lunch at The Saigon Kitchen. This was our first time eating there and it definitely won't be the last. The food was amazing. Freshly prepared, really tasty and very appealing to the eye as well. Service was polite and attentive. We appreciated their patience when we tried to pronounce the name of the dishes. 😊 All in all, we couldn't recommend The Saigon Kitchen enough.

Went on Sunday for the delicious pho. Can choose between beef or vegetarian - we opted for beef. Delicious broth with great depth of flavour, perfectly cooked meat. Had the crisp, moreish spring rolls and perfectly light ban quay to share. Mango smoothies were also excellent. Prompt service with a smile. Really excellent independent restaurant, have visited three times now and always to the same standard. Thank you!

Visited with my partner earlier today and it was honestly so much better than I expected. I had the pork shoulder special and I can truly say, as I said to my partner. This may well be some of the best food I've ever had... and I'm a chef! Would absolutely recommend this place to anybody. The portion sizes were very generous, especially for the price. All seasoned to perfection as well. You can tell that the recipes come from an authentic Vietnamese background and I will now challenge myself to find food as good when I visit Vietnam in the future. Great job to all involved, will definitely be back!

Someone said, "you have to try the pork' as we were wandering past, and wow were they right. Fantastic food and lovely staff in the Heart of Bristol's independent shopping district, Gloucester Road. Only a short walk down from Montpelier train station, and round the corner from The Arches, you'll be glad you made the trip. Have a pint in one of many excellent pubs nearby, then nab a pavement table to watch the world go by on a warm summer evening as you tuck into this amazing food.

I'm saddened to leave this review as this has been a place I would often dine at and recommend to friends. The last time we visited, the dining experience was very different, it's as if with popularity they've forgotten the experience of their customer. It felt like we were being waited on like a fast food restaurant - being pushed through service at high speed. The waitress even relayed that we needed to hurry as they needed the table back in 5 minutes....we'd been seated for less than 80 minutes! Not the atmosphere wanted from a restaurant that is in the pricier side. So disappointed 😥

We went here for my birthday and the food was delicious. The servers were very friendly, asked for allergies and checked our order to make sure we had ordered everything we wanted. Good value for the amount of food and drinks we got!

Wonderful authentic food! I opted for the stuffed squid special because it sounded so unusual - it didn’t disappoint. I’ve been here a few times and have a great experience. The only reason I’ve not given 5 stars is due to the price - I completely understand the situation at the moment but some dishes (like the rice) seem very steep. Of course will return due to the lovely staff and tasty food!

10outta10!!!! The place was packed when my Girlfriend, her Mum and I walked in. But we were found a table within 10 minutes! We were happy to wait out the front as itnwas a really pleasant evening and we were brought menus and drinks while we waited! Being as we didn't book this was best case scenario! Once we sat down we felt immediately comfortable! Though when we came to order we were a little unsure of what to go for. This didnt matter however and our waitress enthusiastically and considerately gave us suggestions. The food was absolutely jaw-dropping! Flavours that ring on the tongue for day afterwards. I had the Grilled fish with peanuts and rice noodles. My girlfriend and her mum had prawns and tofu with an egg rice to share. This is my first time trying Vietnamese food and it's opened up a whole new palette for me. We all agreed that at The Saigon Kitchen, they take food S E R I O U S L Y. We'll absolutely be going back!!!

Very nice food but limited menu

Fabulous flavoursome food, great staff, and although it looks really tightly packed from outside, they've been really clever with the layout so you never feel crowded by other diners.

I went because the reviews were 5 star. I ordered spring rolls, which were soaking in oil and tasteless and the fish special which was a tiny portion, dry and overcooked. I spent 23 pounds and left needing another meal feeling thoroughly unsatisfied and disappointed.

We dropped in on a Saturday evening on the off chance. It was busy but they squeezed us in with the understanding we'd give the table back in an hour as they had a booking. Our waiter was lovely and made us feel very welcome. My friend had a beef stew and I had grilled fish and both were yummy. The spring rolls were good too. Didn't fancy the desserts so tried a Vietnamese coffee which was delicious. The fish was a little overcooked which is why the food doesn't get 5. The atmosphere didn't get a 5 only because the tables were so closely packed in you couldn't have a private conversation at all. Would definitely go back though, it was a fun and enjoyable experience

If you love Vietnamese cuisine, you can come here and try. I highly recommend spring rolls, ‘Bun cha Ha Noi’, and ‘Pho’. Also, the waitress were really nice and friendly. I would definitely come again next time ❤️

Even though staff is very friendly and professional, unfortunately the quality of food is below average and extremely overpriced for what it is. They say starter spring rolls are 6 pieces, and they are 3 small spring rolls cut in halves...somewhat of a joke. Will not be eating there again.

Was pleased to have the opportunity to call here again. This time it was on a Saturday evening so that I could have Bun Cha Ha Noi which I had been wanting to have since I saw it on the menu last time. Again the place was busy with all seats inside either taken or reserved so I sat outside which I was happy to do. Despite having all tables taken the service was still quick and the staff as friendly as ever which made for an enjoyable visit and the Bun Cha Ha Noi was good too. Can't wait until next time.

We were in Vietnam in December and wanted to check out a Vietnamese restaurant in Bristol. I can definitely say food in this place is like what you have in Vietnam. Excellent. Staff and owners are very nice and courteous too.

Exceptional flavours. Is surely one of, if not the best tasting restaurant food I’ve experienced in Bristol, which is something considering the generally high standard here. The friendliness of owner and staff is genuine and makes the visit even more worthwhile.

The night was absolutely amazing, our table felt extremely accommodated and the food was out of this world, the night would not have been the same without our waiter Long who went out of his way to make my friends birthday special. I highly recommend this restaurant for good food and an authentic experience.

Great fresh and delicious food! We were a big table so tried a variety of dishes, all were great! I think the main courses are overpriced, but I still recommend dining here! I wish the food had more fresh chili..and that someday they will add vegetarian Pho to the menu... The tofu with tomato sauce is amazing and also the spicy mango salad!!

Lovely environment and charming staff. The food was lack lustre to say the least. The spring rolls were greasy and not the vietnamese lattice like wrap that I love so much. I had a caramelised pork belly dish where the fat had not been rendered down for long enough, so it was inedible, and the flesh sadly dry. My partner had a fish dish with galangal and a vietnamese dressing, which lacked any bite. The waitress came and offered to top up my tea, though, which I love, but that was not enough to save my disappointment. Won't go again. X
