The Rye Bakery in Hastings

Very good selection of bakery items, cakes, bread, biscuits, savoury selection, the sausage rolls are especially good!!!. Lovely friendly staff, nice dining area. Good drink selection etc. It does get busy at times, so a queue does form, but the staff do their best to reduce waiting time. A lovely Bakery.

I really enjoy stopping here for a coffee and pasty. The shop is part of a small chain and is in competition with several independent shops but the coffee is great, good quality and the food is usually fresh and hot It’s often very busy and I guess that’s testament to the quality and price

Usually pop in before I get my train. Good choices of hot and cold foods as well as breads.recommend. 👍

Bought a couple of Belgian buns and Swiss bun. I had the Swiss bun - stale and my partner said the Belgian bun was stale too. They were obviously yesterdays stock and not cheap. Very disappointed. Won't buy there again.

Friendly staff & nice coffee food at reasonable prices

The best food and staff so friendly. I absolutely love this place Eve,Phoebe, Alex are absolute stars. My absolute favourite is oat milk mocha i drive 15 min every morning without a fail. I'm truly addicted to this place <3

Having journied from London on a day trip to Sussex, a friend and I popped into The Rye Bakery in St Leonards to grab a snack for the onward journey. Whilst the vibe of the place was a kin to patisseries, cake shops and bakeries scattered around central London we were gobsmacked at the audacious price point of produce on offer, which in comparison in terms of quality of other bakeries, most certainly did not warrant the price.

Bought a wonderful Tiffin cake, but the coffee is really bad.The mocha contained cheap hot chocolate and was almost undrinkable.

Love The Rye Bakery!! Tasty, fresh food, really good coffee and friendly staff (particularly Phoebe). Would definitely recommend if you are in the area.

Very handy for the train station. Plenty of good cakes and bakes, coffee and tea and best of all they have Phoebe and Eve who always have a smile and friendly welcome for me when I'm grabbing a tea and cake on the way to work .

0,50 extra charge for having oat milk; on a coffee made by a machine!! A real theft, throughout. Not to have a coffee here EVER.

No where near as good as Jempsons. Hadn't realised it had changed hands so very disappointing. Eat in food given in paper bag and no china mugs. Will wait till I get into Hastings next time to Jempsons.

Was not too bad when jempsons. But now it's not so great. The only saving grace was the polite lady that served us. Tea was ok. But no choice of anything but paper cup. Coffee horrendous. I was going to try a cake but couldn't get a mortgage approved in my limited time there. I've done many hundreds of reviews. Usually let people read and make their own decisions. But I'd highly recommend swerving this place!

Haven't eaten here in recent times so hence why haven't starred anything from that aspect. I used to come here a lot in 2011-2016 when was just jempsons at the time. Really good service and friendly atmosphere.

Paper cups. No plates for scones wooden cutlery. No wonder everyone goes to M&S. where you get proper China a teapot and proper cutlery. Shame on you. Gone downhill since changed from jempsons!!

Good veggie lattice, the coffee is a little too bitter for my liking. Clean space to enjoy your coffee and right opposite the station if you need to kill time before or after your journey.

Super tasty from coffee to bagels to cakes and all sorts of delights, every visit continues to be a delightful experience.

Really friendly little shop not many places to sit but was able to find a seat. as always the tea is the best thing it's (tea pigs) which is what we have at home best place to buy this for yourself is from the company itself .The cake's in Al of the Jempsons shops are delightful

Had a very nice Coffee here and despite getting a little confused with my simple order to begin with, they quickly sorted it out and were very friendly. I'd happily come here again.

Popped in for a coffee and bacon roll on the way to catching a train. Maria had reserved a table for the four of us and was attentive to our every need. All round good service and highly recommended.

Outstanding old school customer service and general kindness. I always pop in for my morning coffee, having being short of cash one morning, Maria(lovely lady) was kind enough to allow me pop it in on next visit. The ladies are so welcoming, greeted with a smile and good chat with Tula. Thankyou for a good start to my mornings.... P.s the coconut & dark chocolate is to die for.

Definitely will not be returning to Jempsons, totally overpriced products, £3.25 for a slim pre sliced cake, everything is above normal price for the area although that doesn't stop people from going there.

Located in a convenient area, close to the train station and not to far from the beach. Cosy and comfortable inside. Nice staff. edit: changed my rating. can't think of anything particularly wrong with this cafe so it is worthy of 4 stars

Quiet which is important for me as deaf and can't cope with background noise. Not much choice for lunch but what we had was good (chicken and mushroom pastry and lentil soup). Good price. But mouth watering at the thought of going for tea - lots of choice.

Lovely cake but was over charged by 30p and the hot chocolate could have been a bit hotter. Very quiet which I like. Very clean. Good selection of food and drink.

The most miserable staff ever and sub standard goods.

Had to return my chivken and ham slice as I couldn't cut it. It was replaced but the replacement steak slice was not very good,only eat it because I was hungry.We aldo bought a couple of cakes to take away, a doughnut which was good abd a belgiun bun which was so stale I had to throw it out! Very dissapointing as things are usually fine.The staff were nice, but the place really could do with a refurb, it's not cheap so expect better really.

Lovely lady serving at 7.00 in the morning - polite and kind. Nice terrace area to people watch. Also it was clean and hygienic, with a nice interior. Only thing for me negative was that the Cappuccino was luke warm.

This venue is super Clean👍 The staff are all super Friendly & polite👌. The food is amazing and all fresh baked🎂🍰🍕🥞. The bread is very reasonable and also freshly baked in a good variety of traditional shapes and types🍞🥐🥖 The Coffee bean they use is not bitter or too strong for a very nice latte or Americano, which adds up to Very nice coffee ☕🍵and service with a smile😁. A smile goes a very long way some days👍! AS we all know😁 and good service from staff will double your footfall in your venue every time. Weldone to the staff👏💋 for such a great example set to us all of How to be professional. Excellent range of cakes, etc. to be either taken out or in. Other baked products too (bread, etc.) Variety of hot and cold drinks. Very convenient for the rail station. Tasteful decor with a combination of standard and arm-chair seating.

Nice cafe and one of the girls behind the counter is Vegan so was able to make me some Vegan options.

Well today I go and get some toasted sandwiches and decide to eat in with my friend, one person on the counter and he had put them on and said I'll bring them over, then could smell it burning while he was sweeping the floor he then went and check on them he discovered the toasted sandwiches were BURN'T and he thought it was ok to spend 5 minutes scrapping the charred bits off as we heard and watched him do this and then proceeded to put them on a plate making sure he placed the burn't side down on the plate hoping we hadn't noticed so needless to say I won't be going there again for a while. Their staff need to learn that's it's unacceptable to serve food you've had to scrape charred bits off just to be able to serve it to a customer, I requested my money back as was not happy

Staff are genuine and pleasant, which makes this place a nice little local treat. Food and coffee is generally good, but occasionally let down on coffee (why have/use an automated machine when you have a full espresso machine?) -get rid of the automatic machine and focus on hand crafted coffees to raise the bar higher!

Not the cheapest place for a coffee but the only place near here that I know of that serves gluten free cookies.
