Visited today with my two elderly aunts. Food arrived very quickly but was barely warm. My vegan option (I think it was some sort of pie?) was actually nice and hot so I’m guessing it had been microwaved. The base of said ‘pie’ was so thick and tough that I couldn’t cut it with my knife. It was totally inedible. Can’t believe my auntie was actually charged for this awful meal! I’ve given one star for the friendly staff but I went home hungry and had a jacket potato. Won’t bother going again

I called The Ruddy Duck to book a table for Sunday lunch the next day, 14/7, and we booked for 1315. The last time I came here was about 40 years ago when I lived in Peterborough. We were not disappointed. After getting our drinks at the bar we were showed to our table and served by two very pleasant young ladies. We were given the choice of three meats - beef, pork and chicken and decided on beef and pork. Our meals arrived very quickly and the meat, which was very tender, was accompanied by a lovely Yorkshire pudding, roast potatoes, green beans, roast parsnips, carrots and cauliflower cheese, all of which were cooked just as we like them. There was extra gravy in a gravy boat. (My wife doesn't eat stuffing anyway and it wasn't to my taste.) We can definitely recommend the Ruddy Duck and would also return.

Just been to this pub as my sister has recently moved to the village and I haven’t been back for 20years after moving out of the area. What a transformation by the new owners, bright and airy, inside, plenty of places to sit and small courtyard with seating and parasols. The lunch menu was varied and competitively priced. Was served up by the owner very quickly and had time towards the end to chat, they have plans to extend out the back to a lawned area. The food was excellent, I will be back for a Sunday lunch very soon, and wish them all the very best. The food was home made Lasagne salad and Garlick bread plus a burger with all the trimmings.

When i arrived at this Lovely situated pub in the picturesque village of Pekirk just nr the local town of Peterbrough, i was pleasantly Supprised how Lovely and Welcoming the Hospitality and Atmosphere it was. I ordered a pint of Dark Drake and ordered my Food with the very Friendly Bar Manager, sorry can not remember his name. We went here on a Friday evening for tea and had a mix of dishes, I had fish and chips which were super tasty and I also had an AMAZING sticky toffee pudding! Portions are generous ad service was good although we did have to wait a while for dessert - but this was because the bar was incredibly busy so understandable. All in all, would definitely be back just for the dessert alone!

First time we've visited since Nigel and Jo took over The Ruddy Duck. The pub is bright and welcoming and so are the staff who work there. We were served by Annette and we ordered food and drink. Both dishes were really tasty and hot, and arrived promptly. The jacket potato was perfect: soft in the middle and the skin was crispy. We will certainly visit soon as everything was perfect. See you soon.

Booked a table for 4. We were given a menu and ordered our drinks, my partner and male friend asked for alcohol free beer but the waitress said there was none of the brand they like. 15 minutes later a different watress came for our order but we still had not had our drinks. There was no specials board, we ordered the chicken and ham home made pie, the lady from the kitchen said they had not received any from their supplier, so they are not home made. When the food came the fish batter was over cooked, the steak & kidney puddings were Frey Bentos. We found out at the end of the evening that they did stock the alcohol free beer, but the waitress did not ask or pass on the message to the barman, when complained we were told they were waitresses not bar staff. Not expensive but, I would not waste your money on food you can buy from the local supermarket. Would not go back and have told friends not to bother going.

This was our first visit with friends we hadn’t seen for ages. Pub environment appeared clean. Not a warm welcome. Staff not very friendly.Sunday roast was poor. Food was cold. Roast potatoes very small, rock hard and shrivelled up .the pork crackling was stone cold and Yorkshire pud was well and truly burnt but . Plates were too small to accommodate the meal. Small amounts of carrots and cabbage. Frozen peas were ok. Woopee Deserts were delicious but Sunday roast was really not worth the £14 price charged. So very Disappointing. Won’t be going back there.

Had not been to the Ruddy Duck 🦆 for over 10 years but decided to return due to the menu selections. Eight of us went for dinner on a 19.45hrs booking. Unfortunately the kitchen had run out of steaks which four of us would have had. However our second choices did not disappoint. I had the steak and ale pie (with all the trimmings) which was first class. Not one of our party was disappointed with their meal (big plates, big portions) which included starters, main course, pudding, tea's coffee and brandy's to finish. The lady behind the bar was delightfully friendly and helpful. The selection of beers was great, Bateman's XB, London Pride, Doombar. All in all a great return to a once regular eating establishment and one that we will return to on a regular basis.

Very disappointed. Turned up as an extended family. When presented with the menu we were immediately told of 2 of the 11 mains had run out, followed by another 4 they only had one each of, the fact there was a table before us yet to order it didn’t leave us any option but to walk away and go elsewhere, shame as we hadn’t been for 20 years and won’t again, the fact we had travelled from the other side of the city for a family meal, a courtesy phone call to pre warn would have been appreciated. I understand it’s not a chain, and they had been ‘busy’ in the day but that should give even more flexibility to have restocked, burgers, sausage and mash and macaroni cheese don’t exactly take long.

We went this Wednesday as part of the Eat out scheme and had a lovely time. Felt Covid safe with all precautions. Good welcome, staff / owners very busy. Excellent steak pie and ‘to die for’ cheesecake. Good value. Having a short, simple menu generally means the pub is home cooking not mass producing and this seemed to be the case. Minor point in the gents loo being out of use (unisex in ladies) which may have caused a queue - hopefully a temporary fault which happens to the best. Good bottled beers on - Adnams ‘Ghostship’ & Tim Taylor’s ‘Landlord’ - can’t go far wrong with these unless you have ales on the handles Will go back, perhaps to try the Sunday lunch next.

Well, it is just an unpretentious pub. As such it did the job. Cheap and cheerful, and there's nothing wrong with that. Not really sure what criteria people use to give it an "excellent". The Ruddy Duck used to be a regular haunt for me until I moved away from the area, so it was lovely to return with family for a visit. If you’re looking for a gastro pub with trendy food, this isn’t the place. What you will get is good honest pub food, plentiful and comforting. The feel is traditional with low beamed ceilings and a nice welcoming decor, with a roaring fire. There is plenty of choice on the menu as well as a busy specials board. I highly recommend the “Ruddy Ribeye” steak, which is very tasty. It was all cooked fresh and the chips were crispy and piping hot. The price of our meal was good value for money and we left full and happy... after hanging around for the Thursday night quiz which was a good laugh. Hope to be back soon.

We go for lunch once a month with friends and, on this occasion, chose the Ruddy Duck. We were all lucky(?) enough to be in a position to have the pensioners’ deal of main course and dessert for £10, and it turned out to be pretty good. I had a chicken salad with Caesar sauce - ok but not the most exciting salad. My wife had liver with mash which she enjoyed. For dessert I had creme brûlée and she had apple and blackberry pie, both of which were good. The Ruddy Duck is quite a traditional pub with not many frills but none the worse for that. The only downside was that our group shared the room with a larger group of men of advanced years, all of whom insisted of at shouting at each other throughout their meal, which made it difficult for us to chat to each other - if you go to the Ruddy Duck, maybe check who else is eating there!
