The Ruby Take Away in Lichfield

Just had a takeaway from the Ruby. Absolute dire food lacking in any taste whatsoever !!! There was nothing of note bar the prawn crackers. Triple crown. No bean sprouts. Barbecued spare ribs. Cold sauce and could have substituted HP brown sauce. Szechwan special. Aka as sweet and sour mixed meat. Will not be spending any more money here. That’s apart from the hour wait !!!!

So tonight myself my husband and 5 children had a Chinese take away spent £30.00 and feel totally robbed the food was absolutely disgusting 🤢 over cooked chicken balls full of grease the egg fried rice was like mashed potato my beef and mushroom gravy looked like snot noodles over cooked and burnt have used this place for years complained about the food no refund offered wasnt bothered how we felt whatsoever very rude customer service AVOID at all costs all our food ended up in the hun times are hard as it is and this was our first treat in a long time will never set food in that place again

Always enjoyed the food here, but having been tonight I noticed the size of tray is much smaller than previously and it wasnt even full. Had my meal, which was nice but I'm still hungry. Sorry, but think it's time to try somewhere else

Quite possible the worst chinese we have ordered. Food is rubbery and greasy and quite frankly looks unappetising to just look at. We couldn't eat the meat within the dish as like I say, it gave us jaw ache. Even if other chinese's are closed on a Monday, just avoid until the others are open the day after.

Shocking and horrible in taste . No flavour and warm chips! If you ever want a chinese on a Monday... wait till Tuesday for some where decent to be open . In the bin it went !

Had a takeaway last night. Dishes included starters and main meals. Was for 4 adults. All food was tasty! Was really nice, we couldn’t fault it!

When the food came the curry was enveloped in grease , thin and oily . The curry sauce wasn’t even sauce it was like I was eating pure oil, when I rang up and complained the lady on the phone was rude , I told her that the food was yellow and greasy then she asked me if I wanted the sauce to be yellow or orange ?? Never going here again !

Quite a while ago we found a wasp in our food and when we returned it they refused to refund our money, so we actually reported it to food hygene office and gave them the food. when we had the report we were told tha there was wasp and rodent hair in the food and that the take away would be warned and that if any further complaints were received this would be taken into consideration. We have not used that take away since Our visit was more than 3 years ago

Tried the Ruby last night for the first time as we have only just moved into the area. Lovely service, smelt wonderful, flavourless, the sauces both dishes were in had no substance. Really unimpressed, shame as it looked so good.

So we ordered 5 items and we were pretty disappointed. 1 slice of prawn toast for £4.10? We expected at least 2, the chow mein was greasy. The delivery was on time and the staff were polite which is the only good thing but this food is seriously overpriced!!

Very quick service, great delivery service, excellent range of dishes, the food is always freshly cooked and piping hot and very moorish

When you have too add salt to get some taste to your chicken friend rice something just isn’t right food was cold when arrived we ordered over £30 worth of food and I can’t say any of it was good just poor cold and bland

Jill Yuen Chicken is to die for here, in my opinion it is one of their best dishes... I can’t get enough of it!

Read some bad reviews but been using this place for years finding food more than satisfactory, in fact, delicious, although delivery can be slower than expected.

This is our local Chinese and we always love the food here. I would highly recommend and say that this is the best Chinese is burntwood.

I love this place. We eat from here regularly. The food is excellent and the service is great. The food is so good that it can get crowded but its well worth the wait.

I love the beef and mushroom curry and fried rice and the prawn toast starter, I am idle and always order the home delivery service which is quick and always hot on arrival, the best chinese in burntwood for me .

Ordered my usual favourites: Salt and pepper chicken, king prawn chow mein, yuk suk, beef in black bean sauce, etc. All cooked instantly and taste wonderful! Highly recommended 👍

Always consistent quality food whatever you choose, a very large menu, and they will adapt to your requirements and will change for you.

We tried this take away as it's impossible to get a decent Chinese takeaway in Norton Canes or Heath Hayes. The menu has the usual selections and I had the special satay as that's the only one they do with all the veg in and it was very tasty. The second time I had the triple crown which didn't state what the sauce was -always ask as it was a sweet chilli style -bright red and sweet with a bit of heat too sweet for me . Noodles are tasty and the beef curry was ok, only one chewy piece of meat for the dog. This food was freshly cooked in about 7minutes such a quick service! May try the Mayflower as other reviewers suggest just to see as I have to drive here.

Estilo Hoi An pecado ordenados carne, pollo libre ribsand ballls. Carne de baja calidad e incluso terminó dando el perro lo poco que quedó de la carne en las costillas de repuesto como dejamos algunos.

We use this takeaway and always get food that is good hot and on time. Service is always pleasing and friendly

Utilizamos utilizar otro chino cerca de este para llevar, pero ya un cambio en la gestión no estábamos contentos, así que decidimos probar este lugar. No era lo que esperábamos y la carne crujiente roscados no coinciden con la descripción. Floja y pasada podría ser más de una descripción. Como tuvimos este entregado no se molestó con la reordenación como ser otra hora.

Use regularly, good quality and consistently good. Good menu choice and usually delivered hot. Would recommend

We get a take away from here once in a while, the food is consistently very good, it's not fantastic but never poor. Would recommend the ruby it's one of the best in the area

Always good quality plenty of choice and arrives home hot would recommend. We use it at least once a fortnight and have not been disappointed.

Visited last night with my wife and had the all you can eat. They just brought out small starters then hurried onto mains. Again hurried and never brought any more dishes out. Also hidden supplements for certain dishes. And a poor selection of sweets.Not value for money and too rushed pace to enjoy.

We use the Ruby every time for take away Chinese. Have done for ages and never ever had a bad meal. Friendly reception and quick service. I'm surprised by some of the negative comments on here as you can actually watch your food being cooked in the kitchen while you wait. Highly recommended

My husband and I had a takeaway 20.08.2016 and they fobbed us off with totally burnt meals, both of us. As soon as I took the top of the box I could smell burnt food, but thought it might have been something else, but no it was our food. I should have taken them both back a waste of our hard earned £20 ... I was disgusted, they both went I. The bin after only a taste, I should have made the cooks and the others eat it in front of me. I will not be going back there again, it was disgusting.

Amazing takeaway, but my favourite dish has to be the Jill Yuen Chicken - no other Chinese has ever lived up to this one! Lightly battered with a good taste of salt and pepper too, served with salad and chillies for a great kick. Recommend this to everyone and they're always grateful!

Amazing food at this great take away. Fantastic choice at reasonable prices. Try it, you wont be disappointed. They even deliver if you want.

Good very bland. I would recommend regulars try Fown Lin (5 minutes away). There is no comparison! I have never had a bad meal from Fown Lin and would never call it bland and tasteless, as was my experience of The Ruby.

My friends and i regularly use the ruby for takeaway and I always find the staff incredibly pleasant,warm and accommodating! We always use the phone n pick up system,which has always worked for us ! Food order has always been correct, on time,piping hot and delicious ! My friends live out of Burntwood and will always use the Ruby because it's the best they've found in the area ! So they phone in and then take a 20 minute car journey to get to it ! They will not have a Chinese from anywhere else ! Nor will I !! The Ruby is a great place to get an authentic Cantonese/Chinese hot tasty meal everytime!

Ordered take out which took forever to arrive ! Chicken was raw when it came and when I reported this to the restaurant the lady was extremely rude and nasty ! Would not recommend or use again .

I have used a few takeaway outlets in Burntwood and this has been the first and last time I will use this one.There is no excuse to serve under cooked food, particularly chicken, the health risks alone are well documented. Very dissapointed.

The Ruby is a cheap take away that serves good food. We normally have a take away every Friday, they can take a while to deliver, but if you can't wait, then drop down and pick it up!Staff are pleasant and friendly.

Today we ordered from the Ruby as we found out that our normal chinese has been graded a 0 by food standards and we wanted to try another local chinese.Ruby has a 4 star rating so we chose there. Unfortunately the food was not nice at all. It tasted as though it had been warmed up and was very dry and tasteless. The meat tasted as though it was very low quality.We won't be ordering from here again!!The only good thing about our experience was that the lady was very nice when we called up to order the food.

We often use this take away and find it very good with plenty of choice.We have had set meals and picked dishes at random.Saff are very pleasant and helpful

I have used this place twice for delivery. Each time i have ordered food, it has taken over 1hour and 30 minutes to arrive and the food is cold. Highly unrecommended

The Ruby takeaway serves excellent chinese food. The only slight drawback is you will need to wait quite a long time because it is so popular.

I ordered from here a chicken chow mein, only to find when i got home the chicken was raw and pink in the middle. Very substandard for the location and i will not be returning because of it. Johnny Wongs up the hill is miles better and thats bad at times.

Particularly if you go early in the evening you get very quick service. On Fridays you need to phone in otherwise you could be in for a wait - immensely popular takeaway. No MSG used in the food here, unlike other establishments in the vicinity.
