I had the lamb biryani thats nice but the curries are oily and the lamb in those curries smelt. The portion in container was half filled up. I don’t know if it’s that particular one time but if you are filling those containers half way everytime then you are ripping people off! I didn’t make the order otherwise I would have said something also it was picked up just before closing.

I was very disappointed to be honest this is the first time I’ve had a meal from them. That was really that bad. The onion barges were burnt rice the mushroom rice was salty. To the point, I couldn’t eat it. The only thing I ate was the non-bread and the mint sauce. Very, very unhappy.

First time ordering as in the area, amazing Biryani and Chapatis! Highly recommended.

Ordered for takeaway, was very excited as used to love it 10 years ago when we lived here. Meat samosas, chicken tikka masala and butter chicken, keema naan, garlic naan, pilau rice and chips. Curry's were rotten. Chicken in both was disgusting, the butter chicken was plasticy and inedible. Both sauces watery and not very flavourful. Keema naan wasn't great either. The samosas were way too spicy and only 2, used to be amazing and a bag of 8! Waste of money. We binned most of it.

Ordered tikka Ceylon and potato spots, today 6 July 2024 through just eat, the food arrived 45 minutes later than stated? and was barely warm, the Ceylon curry was swimming in oil, see photo, visually unappealing and inedible, totally unsatisfactory situation, made complaint on just eat, on contacting restaurant they offered to give 20% discount on next order, which I refused to accept, I told them to resend order or refund, they cancelled my order which meant I wasn’t charged. Quality control and consistency matter, sending out dishes where food presentation is clearly below standard? nor should it be accepted by customer, and for a restaurant to do this is just poor vetting on their Part, and the chefs that think this is going to get good reviews for restaurant recommendations, they’re asking for criticism? allowing food to leave restaurant for delivery in this state? is not good! and it’s not what you want to receive or expect! Will not be ordering from here again.

Very nice Thai 4 Curry and pilau rice, something different for a change, I enjoyed it very much

Went here tonight the service and food were horrendous. 1 hour before he even took an order, and before he finished taking that answered the phone to orders. My chicken was raw and they still had the cheek to try and charge for the rest of the main which I now couldn't eat. Never again 🤮

I have frequented this place often with friends and sometimes alone. Always enjoyed the food and the service. The take aways have always been great and arrived promptly. I would recommend if you are local.

Very disappointed with the curry I ordered, it was supposed to be a chicken tikka masala but all it tasted of was coconut so overpowering I thought I was eating a bounty minus the chocolate and it was totally the wrong colour a tikka is meant to be orange but this was tandoori red, sadly I will never be going back but if you like coconut curry then this is the place to go.

The food I could not eat I thought they had tipped a bucket of salt in it. It was inedible. I will never order from ruby again totally a waste of money

First time ordering from here. Was not dissapointed. Great quality food, fresh salad with the starters, always a good sign! but most importantly, the curries themselves were excellent. Worth a try!

The restaurant isn't quite synced up with the app so bear in mind the delivery time might not be exactly right! The food though is delicious and reasonably priced, arrived fresh and hot, the driver very friendly and patient with it taking me a while to get to the door. Best Indian food in the area!

After trying all of the Indian take away restaurants in the Borehamwood/Elstree/Radlett area I must tell you that this one in London Colney is by far the worst. Bland boring food. By far inferior to anything I have had before. Sorry but that is the honest truth. Plus points They seemed very nice people, the food arrived on time at a fair price and it was edible.

Sadly, the food was bland and the sauces very thin and watery. Had a chicken saag, a biryani and a korma. The naan had a hair in it. 3 stars as the spicing was accurate, unlike some takeaways.

Called in after being turned away by a local pub due to their kitchen not being open on a Monday (allegedly). Called in around 20:30 and was greeted straight away. The food arrived promptly and was plentiful and delicious.

Food looked lovely. Surprising, way to salty. Even the tikka masala was overly salted, mouth was fizzing.

I have always found the food from the Ruby to be excellent; tonight was no exception.

The owner took excellent care of us at a late dinner time, and it was a memorable experience. He was incredibly kind, the food was amazing, large portions, and he was pleasant to speak with. He even drove us back to our hotel instead of having us wait for an Uber. I am from Canada, and was traveling with my mum who was originally from England, and the story of my night and this restaurant is one that I have shared with many friends and colleagues. Highly recommend this restaurant!!

Worst take away we have ever had, we have been having take away from here for 34 years! Last night was awful, we had the veg set meal for 2, the main dishes were mainly sauce with a bit of onion and a few Peas and sweetcorn, the sides were extremely salty to the point we could not eat them, we only received one samosa, the Nan was burnt and cold - so disappointed as we have had this meal before and loved it.

We always use this restaurant. But this is the 3rd we’ve had an awful meal. Far too salty, inedible one dish. Poppadoms where stale & naan soggy. Regular customer won’t be ordering from here anymore! Tikka masala over powered with coconut! Should have saved my money & just ate coconut from the supermarket! Used to be amazing, gone down hill. Plus I ordered chutney & pickles x2…didn’t get any pickles!

The Tandoori mixed grill was perfect, the veg curry very watery but still tasted great and the cauliflower in the Aloo Gobi was so under done I had to just eat the potato. I’d still order from The Ruby but perhaps different dishes.

Delivery was great, sadly food wasn’t as good, sauce was very watery and not much taste, rice was ok.

The food left us with a unsettled stomach almost instantly after eating and their portion sizes are stupidly small, 5 chunks of chicken in their chicken korma and a random concoction of vegetables that don’t work pallet wise in the vegetable korma, low and behold, never ordering from here again, plenty of quality alternatives in the area.

Having been a customer here for over 20 years the restaurant then changed hands and I shied away. Having visited with friends last night I can only say the service and food was fantastic and I will be visiting again soon. Happy customer . Ed

Poor food. Couple of dishes over salty to the point that they were inedible. Rest of the food was fairly bland with lots of oil. Expected more after waiting almost 2hrs. Disappointing.

We ordered our food at 5.40pm. It said 1/2 for delivery. We placed the order and the delivery changed to 7.10!! So we waited! At 7.55 our food arrived. Slightly warm. But missing the naam bread and 4 popadoms. We phone the restaurant to see if the driver had them, but no they hadn’t sent them. They said to contact you for a refund! Overall we were very disappointed as we spent over £60 for this!!!

Excellent service and food again

Enjoyed my lobster purée and lobster curry, what a great discovery after living in St Albans’s many years. Came quicker then I expected. Think it’s gonna be my new Indian food place.

Admittedly it's New Year's Eve so we were expecting the restaurant to be busy, so I ordered mid afternoon to give plenty of time. Requested delivery for 8.30pm and it arrived just before 9.15pm. Added to that the food was just warm and nearly cold. Usually good from this place but sadly very disappointing tonight!!!

Onion bhaji was over cooked but the main meal, side orders, nan bread, were all very good. Lovely creamy chicken dish, Bombay aloo was tasty too. Haven't used the Ruby for a few years as the last meal was appalling so went elsewhere. But I would definitely order again if this is the usual standard. Didn't use the restaurant but you have to give stars but this was a take away!

Great service, we pre ordered on Christmas Eve, arrived exactness time. We had a set vegetarian meal for 2, fantastic selection of dishes, very large portions- lots of lovely left overs. Highly recommended

I’ve been buying from The Ruby for the last few months and have been delighted with the food quality and taste, and the delivery was always on time. It’s possible it was because of Diwali, but the food quality wasn’t up to standard and the delay in the delivery was disappointing as I do not think they were genuine about why there was a delay Food Food was cold Onion bhaji’s were as hard as rock Garlic Naan’s didn’t taste of anything remotely like garlic Naan’s The mutta paneer was like soup The sauce that came with the mixed kebab didn’t taste of anything There was about 5 pieces of chicken in the korma The meat in the mixed kebab was hard The king prawn biryani was nice Delivery We ordered the food at 6.42pm At 7.30pm the app said the food was on the way The restaurant is 10 mins from my address At 7.50pm I called to ask if the food had left. I was told the driver left 5-10 mins ago At 8.10pm I called again, and they called the driver, who said he would be another 10 minutes When the driver turned up at 8.35pm, he said that they were very busy and that’s why he was late. I said I hope the food wouldn’t be cold and he said it wouldn’t be, but it was and it obviously would be, as it was probably in the car for nearly 1 hour. The restaurant did say that if I order again, I’d be given 20% off, but after paying over £50 for mediocre cold food, I don’t think I’ll order again if the quality, taste and delivery time will equal the experience of this even. It’s actually a shame, as the food prior to this evening was very tasty

Got to say I’ve used this restaurant over the years and had no issues always prompt and food hot and delicious . I’m afraid on this ocassion they let themselves down .food took over an hour then when it did arrive I had to introduce it to my microwave as it was cold ! Ordered chips for one of the kids ,cold flaccid and inedible ,microwaved them as well but as you kniw microwaved chips aren’t too appetising once reheated . Very very very disappointed,chicken tikka masala used to be rich and creamy ,not so tonight it had a “reused “ look and taste about it .Food expensive for what it was ,far to expensive . Unfortunately I will be voting with my feet and ordering elsewhere next time .Great pity after all these years

Had the lamb biriani which was very tasty, full of spices without added heat

Had mixed starter which when it arrived was luke warm to cold. Curry I had chilli garlic masala was half grease had to spoon it off the top, not nice at all. Egg fried rice has peas cooked beyond recognition! Wasn’t overly impressed at all to be fair
