Took my daughter out for a meal. The ambiance is always excellent here. The food is always freshly cooked and is always really good. Would definitely recommend

Okay night, nice atmosphere in the front restaurant but staff were very blunt but it didn’t seem very busy Heard great things about this place so we thought we’d give it a go as we only live ten minutes away, but it wasn’t for us, maybe others might enjoy it more. Menu was extremely large and probably too much choice and too much work for the kitchen to provide all the dishes as none of hours were as good as we felt they could be.

Excellent choice on menu. Services first class staff were very attentive, pleasant and friendly. Would highly recommend.

Enjoyed the atmosphere but relatively average food, starters and mains were okay, desserts probably our favourite. Service was very friendly though - we may try again for another go

Mothers day Booked as had fantastic meals in the past. This time pub manager rude in bar. Staff seemed knackered and not friendly at all. The meal although nice wasn't to the same standard as usual and restaurant cold. Asked for heating to be turned up as was unpleasantly chilly and got repeatedly ignored. Such a shame as I would have normally recommended this place.

Booked to celebrate my husband’s birthday. Was a little put out to be asked to let them know our menu choice for our party of 8, however the meal was very good. We all had different meals which all came out at the same time (and I guess that’s the reason for a pre-order!). Each one of us thoroughly enjoyed our meals, will definitely return. Many thanks.

We visited recently to celebrate my sisters birthday! We had been before so knew it would be great! We weren’t disappointed! We were met by Jude who was to be our waitress for the day. Jude was very friendly, welcoming and professional. Exactly what we wanted. The food was delicious, hot, home made, and enough to fill your plate! All at a reasonable price! Had special board rack of lamb never before had a plate full of potatoes and 3 slices rack of lamb at 25 pounds hardly a quality meal would not go back or recommend

The food was cold very over priced (it’s a pub) not a restaurant, believe it was the manager who served us …rude basically threw our plates down at us. The garlic mushrooms made the bread soggy as they had been soaking up for ages in the kitchen. 66.00 for Sunday lunch NOT WORTH IT.

The food was very good and the service polite and efficient. Overall we thought it overpriced and £6 for a pint of beer is outrageous.

I rang to reserve a specific table 8 days before our planned visit, and was told by the gentleman I spoke to that it was available, so he reserved it for us. On arrival we were told the table was reserved for someone else, when I told the staff that we had reserved it, I was told there was no specific table against my name. This is, at best, very bad management, but we had the feeling our booking had been purposely changed to accommodate the other guests.

Yet again have had a very enjoyable and delicious lunchtime meal here. We visit regularly and have never been disappointed. The meals are freshly cooked, the special choices varied and changed regularly. The staff are friendly and well trained, always friendly and helpful. Always busy, but waiting time is not too long. All four of us enjoyed our meal choices. The lamb shank was delicious. A couple of weeks ago I had the Guinea fowl special and my partner had the duck breast. Definitely to be repeated.

Heard excellent reviews about this restaurant and decided to try it out for ourselves...we were not disappointed. Delicious food...ambient surroundings...attentive, polite and professional staff...Ladies facilities...squeaky clean (it matters)...and my very fussy husband said the Seabass was "scrumptious" Praise indeed. We will be back x

This is a lovely restaurant with very polite and friendly staff. We do use the restaurant often and the food has always been up to a great standard. However I now feel they have stepped up another gear and the food is of an even higher standard. Would definitely recommend trying it. If you just want pub food the bar is also very comfortable, but may still need to book a table because it gets. Wry busy on a weekend. I would also recommend booking the restaurant any time of the week because it is busy everyday

Visited with family of 6 for birthday celebrations. Regular customers often 2/3 times a month. But definitely won’t be rushing back any longer. Food was overpriced and portions small . One meal arrived with a large amount of tinfoil inside a burger. Which was only noticed upon chewing and then looking inside bun. (2 inches worth of foil in bun, how much had inadvertently already ben eaten by my child!) staff were quick to replace meal and very apologetic. Puddngs arrived and two hot desserts had to be returned due to them being tepid in temperature! Whats happened Royal Oak??? Very dissapointed!

Another great meal, thank you. We were celebrating my partner’s 60th but he only wanted low-key. My in-laws brought a cake and the staff kindly brought it out at the end of the meal for us. It was just the right amount of fuss for him! Between us we had gammon, light bite scampi, light bite haddock goujons and steak and mushroom pie. All went down well. The light bite meals were larger than we expected too. We’ve had a number of multigenerational family lunches here over the last few years and the food quality has been consistently high, as has the service.

I was quite disappointed with my meal, I had fish chips and peas, it was a very small portion, my cousin asked if I had ordered a small portion but I hadn’t. The fish was very thin, accompanied by a very small basket of chips. I had a malted milk and Irish cream tort for dessert, I expected a sponge cake but it was more like a cheesecake and absolutely tasteless, I think I will not be returning as for what we got I thought it was expensive, also the waiter was very rude, he kept shouting very loudly at us.

Meal was very average and quality of the fish and chips was not up to its usual standard. Deserts were quite expensive and very small. Overall quality of the food did not justify the price.

Best Sunday roast we have ever had. First time visiting and accidentally booked into the sports bar rather than the restaurant but they managed to squeeze us in thank you. Will definitely return and will definitely be regulars.

I’m so upset I have to write this as this place is my absolute favourite for Sunday lunch but unfortunately this Sunday I was utterly disappointed. I ordered the chicken which I’ve had many times before but the breast had all the bones still on the reverse side so I had to spit them out and try get all the bones off my plate which wasn’t very pleasant when having a mouthful of food. This really spoiled it. The young man I told did apologise and said they had changed supplier but it’s the chef who puts it on your plate !! I will return but I will never have the chicken again.

We go here quite a lot , especially on a Wednesday. Our table was not ready so we we're told to get a drink and wait in the bar which we did and a waitress would come for us once the table was ready, Our table was booked for 2pm ,we did arrive about 15 minutes early so this was expected . We sat in the bar till nearly 2.30 and still no one came, my husband then went through to see if the table was ready and it had bedn ready a while and they put us down as not turning up ? The service was shocking , staff rude roo. Won't be returning .
