Had really nice cheap burger and fries. Cooked to perfection, the ipa beer I had not so , but pleasant enough. Nice bar , plenty of parking, seating inside and out. Wheel chair access and toilets. Friendly staff and clean tables. Thanks.

Attended one of the many Christmas events being held this year with friends and our children with the "making Christmas cards", craft event on the 14th Dec the highlight and big hit with the kids! Plenty of crafts for kids to do with little treats for them all. Nice friendly environment and staff superb and very helpful. Good work Royal Oak!

We come to the Royal Oak every week for quiz night and we absolutely love it!! Dave is a fantastic Quiz Master and all of the staff in the pub are so kind and friendly! The pub is also a place where we can come and watch women’s football which (surprisingly these days!) is super hard to come by!

Live locally so vista the local pubs but I do prefer the oak as it has a great atmosphere and a great selection of food and drinks. The staff are very friendly which only adds to the atmosphere

Came here for a family meal (20 people) a few weeks ago on a Saturday evening the food,staff, and service were fantastic will definitely use again 😀

Have used The Oak for many years and seen many changes.Alas our last 2 visits have been disappointing at least.Appart from on one occasion waiting for an hour for our food order...today...yet again they had none of the items advertised on their menu.Decided on alternatives...were so badly cooked and presentation so lacking that they should be ashamed to even present them.HELLO THIS IS ALMOST 2025 GET A GRIP AND STOP PEOPLE PAYING GOOD MONEY to be disappointed. You are giving our culture a very bad name .Hint how about a proper Ploughman's Lunch...or a sandwich?You have really lost the plot.Maybe that's the idea and the pub will close and you can turn it into houses. I truly despair that you should have more pride.Rant over but surely.......

So they say when a new manager of a football team takes over all the players up there game.Having moved to Bishops Cleeve in the last 6 months the royal oak has been my chosen pub.I have noticed a definite change since Sheree took the managers position a couple of months ago.The exsiting staff seem happier going about there jobs & the new signings jack & matt are a excellent addition to the great team that sheree has assembled Visited for the quiz night last Thursday for the first time with my partner & enjoyed a nice meal before pitting our wits against the regular contestants thoroughly enjoyable evening hosted by the quizmaster Dave who also works behind the bar I can definitely say Dave would give Bradley Walsh a run for his money Whether it be quiz night or any other time of the week you are always guaranteed a warm welcome excellent service wide range of beverages great food & atmosphere Keep up the great work Sheree & the team Regards A very happy customer Stephen

This is a typical old lovely country pub in Bishops Cleeve that does meals. We went for Sunday lunch and the atmosphere was buzzing with lots of customers, some just having drinks and others eating. All were clearly enjoying the day. The pub has a new manager who is continually chatting to customers and supporting her staff. We had a lovely time in her pub and will be back. Richard Sloane

Brought the niece in for food and the new kids food menu had better choices. Luke and Leyla had amazing service, food was brought out quickly and they loved the Mac and cheese and cheese burger followed by brownie & rainbow chocolate sundae.

We decided to have a family meal out on a Friday and walked into the village for a change. As soon as we entered the Royal Oak the whole atmosphere was very welcoming. This is a far cry from previous visits in the past. The tables were clean and the staff were extremely polite and helpful. The food was nice and hot when delivered to the table, and rather than being dumped on a plate you could see some thought was given on presentation. There was no issue with drinks, the real ales obviously had been looked after with nice clarity through the glass. The toilets were spotlessly clean. This public house is now under new management and you can feel the whole atmosphere has changed. It caters for all and is very family and dog friendly.

Ever since I started using the oak as my local it has always been outstanding, the staff can't do enough for you. So friendly. Food is lovely never had a bad meal here. Great drinks to offer, a really really friendly atmosphere. The new landlady is fitting in well she's Always there to help if needed. Glad to call this my local.

Visited the Royal oak yesterday for the first time. Great food, warm atmosphere and a good drink selection reasonably priced. Sheree & her team are great, prompt service and Gammon steak was perfect. Will be returning soon.

Popped in for lunch on our way to a vineyard tour. Lovely decorated quirky place. We were welcomed and shown to a table. Ordered our drinks & food at the bar. Sunday lunch was delicious and arrived promptly hot and plentiful. Cauliflower cheese wasn’t an extra either all included. Staff were all friendly. Understand there has been a new change of management. Good luck to them.

We love this pub, great food (John) the Chef is a great , good local, We have had some good managers and we love the sports App 10% of drinks . Worth a visit.

Food was affordable but dry and dull.

Having been working on odd jobs at the daughters all day and as time was marching on we needed somewhere for our evening meal. Found this pub, looked good from the outside so decided to give it a go. Most people were sat out enjoying the early evening sun in the beer garden but we opted to sit inside. A pub with plenty of character, comfortable seating and friendly staff. Food ordered, it arrived promptly and tasted good. just what we needed after a busy day. Once we'd eaten the manager came to check if everything was to our liking, realising we were not regulars, asked if we were on holiday and we ended up chatting for a few minutes, asked if we wanted more drinks or a pudding, tempting but we needed to get off home as it'd been a long day and this place was just what the doctor ordered. Would use again.

First time visit, found the staff friendly and the pub was clean, which is rare nowadays. Enjoyed a couple of drinks. Staff were quite chatty, which was good and fully knowledgeable on the menus with recommendations. Would fully recommend.

Server behind bar was clearly having a bad day. Grumpy and not engagement. I was clearly an inconvenience to him. Kids meal deal is main, desert & drink just under £5. Sounds good, however to get the drink we were told you have to have a desert. Didn’t want a desert but still not permitted the deal! Green King could have had the profit of the non ordered desert instead they had disgruntled diners! Think outside the box staff! Lost opportunity

I went along to the Royal Oak for dinner tonight with my family. It was a beautiful day so we ordered our food & drinks then grabbed a table outside. I am aware that the pub had a refurb a couple of years ago but the outside has been poorly taken care of since then; the outside furniture is weathered & unclean, dirty cushions, I noticed a table had slats missing but the screws still there & facing upward. There was an abandoned corner sofa with no table.. an abandoned table elsewhere not fit for use, parasol weights left randomly lying around (trip hazard), parasols leaning against the outdoor bar building, the patio has not been weeded or cleaned for summer. The smoking area for the staff is located at the back of the outside space.. it's not nice to see that of the kitchen staff knowing they are cooking your food. The pizza oven / bbq area looks to have been abandoned since the restaurant reopened. It was really unclean, it had a fridge in the middle that looked as though its been dumped there. The hanging lights above the outside seating have been left to hang down & are not closely attached to the wire above. It's a shame it's been left to go this way. We have been to the Royal Oak alot in the last few years and I would go back if sitting inside as the atmosphere & decor is lovely. Unfortunately I'd be more inclined to go to another pub to sit outside on a lovely day going forward.

Staying in area for work and found the Royal Oak searching from somewhere to eat in the evening. Had a great tasty steak perfectly cooked by Ben.

i got a kids meal, decent price for what was advertised u can pick a main, a side, a veggie and dessert for pretty cheap i got pasta, corn, garlic two scoops of icecream garlic bread was burnt pasta was mid corn was pretty good tbf but its not that hard to mess up my friends burger looked depressing the chips were only good when caked in heinz mayo the servers looked like they didnt want to be there except for the nice blonde lady at the bar we waited ages for our plates to be taken and then waited an additional ages for my icecream and had to remind the staff (we were on a time crunch also so the atmosphere shifted from a nice lunch to stressed) i then recieved my icecream which was A PITIFUL 1 AND A HALF scoop of icecream would not recommend

We came to this lovely pub for a sit down meal. We were very impressed with the whole meal. Prices were good. Staff excellent. Meal very tasty. Will definitely be returning. We recommend it. Definitely earned 5* 's

Rude staff. A staff member called Dave was rude and was talking to us in a very aggressive manner. We took some chips in for my dad and he sat outside eating them yes we shouldn’t have took them in when they weren’t from the pub but my dad is diabetic and his levels dropped and he needed to eat something. A man grassed on us it’s a shame he doesn’t grass when men are doing cocaine in the toilets in there. Dave spoke to us rudely told me not to give him lip when all I was doing was trying to explain the issue as to why my dad had chips. Iv lived in the village my whole life 33 years and will never use the Royal Oak again. When I spoke to the manager she did say sorry but all she could say is I wish Dave didn’t speak to you I wish it was a different member of staff so that tells me they have had issues with him before. He clearly has issues with women so shouldn’t be working in a pub. Disgusting behaviour

My teenage son and I were in Bishops Cleeve and wanted a sit down lunch so thought we'd try here. Really glad we did! Good atmosphere. The service was excellent with friendly staff. The food was good and a good price. We also had pudding which was a good price too. I had a white chocolate and raspberry blondie which I highly recommend, it was delicious! Excellent all round...thank you all at The Royal Oak.

We are currently visiting from Australia, staying with my sister in Bishop's Cleeve for 5 weeks. We have chosen the Royal Oak as our local and have a lager there most evenings. We enjoy the atmosphere and the hospitality of the staff.

This is not a family friendly pub as advertised. The manager and barman both don’t seem to like children in their vicinity even at a dinner time when food was ordered. We were also told the children were not allowed to bring their own sweets into the pub to consume. They don’t even sell sweets so don’t see what the problem is here. On a side note I would not recommend the food, I have had a few meals here and the last time the chicken wings were undercooked and the chicken thigh meat in the tacos was inedible with more fat than chicken. Also on a hygiene issue when I ordered a drink for my child I asked for no lemon in the glass, the drink was served with lemon and when brought to the attention of the barman he reached in to take the lemon out with his fingers. I’m sorry but this is disgusting. We then had to ask for another drink to replace this as surely this is against hygiene standards.

We had a full English breakfast. It was very nice, freshly cooked and very good value. Definitely go back again when in the area.

If I could rate this place zero stars I would. Prides itself on being family friendly but it is far from it. Ian the jobsworth General Manager is the most unwelcoming and rude pub manager I’ve come across. We came here as a group of friends for birthday drinks to round off a nice meal across the road and, despite a massive fight happening at the bar (which Ian seemed to turn a blind eye to), WE got kicked out for having boxed food (leftovers from our meal) and having our teenage child with us. Yes, rules are rules, but there’s a way to go about it – and Ian failed on every level. Really disappointed because I’ve been to this pub many times over the years (with children past 9pm by the way). Sort it out Ian, you’re embarrassing. Avoid at all costs!

Standard “chain” pub with all that that entails. No frills but pleasant staff. If you want a “quiet pint” don’t visit when football is on lol!

Cute village pub, a proper local and friendly place. Great value for food also especially the 2 main deal

I had the grilled gammon, fries and peas. The gammon was inedible, I couldn't even cut through it with the "steak" knife provided. As a friend was kindly paying I didn't want to cause embarrassment by complaining so wrapped the gammon in a napkin and brought it home to throw away. Also the volume of the music made conversation difficult. Won't be returning.

Was told our table was booked a half an hour earlier than booked and told the wait for food would be an hour ! Wrong drinks order, coffee was sooo strong it couldn't be drunk. Hunters chicken was overcooked and dry. Chips were soggy. Cold food, extremely disappointed. Went and had coffee and cakes at Costa after.

My last review is true and fair, however I was given a £20 voucher AFTER I had already posted my review. I’m not sure what the manager means by my third attempt at being the business into disrepute. As a local pub I have used it many times over the years. The last time was awful but he is right in that it was resolved. It doesn’t take away from the review though and it doesn’t make it any less or more true Green King responded quickly and were really kind and good in resolving. Because of the response here from the manager I would never set foot inside of there again and I know many who feel the same

Popped in for breakfast with a friend. Live in Bishops Cleeve myself and have never tried the breakfast before. Service was great a friendly the traditional breakfast was fantastic, tasty, served quickly, a good amount and unlike many breakfast deals around this price (£6.99) freshly cooked and hot. My friend had the breakfast wrap and the same comments applied. I would rate it as one of the best breakfast meals I’ve had for a longtime and better than some of the more expensive ones I’ve tried. Will definitely be using the Royal Oak more often for a breakfast 😋 Keep up the excellent service and cooking guys.

My wife and I came in for a meal, the staff were extremely friendly and helpful. The food was delivered quickly, and was delicious. We were very impressed with the price of the meal and drinks. In particular watch out for Kieran a member of staff, he turned out to be a real comedian and had the both of us in stitches. Cannot recommend enough, we will certainly be back again!!!!!!
