The Royal Oak in Exeter

Watched an act there. Had some food and was decent enough, good value for the money. Atmosphere was very.good, the act defo helped that!

Not dog friendly in the pub, but are able to sitting in the garden which does have a shelter. Food was poor, I had Lasagne and was unable to eat it. One lady on her own, trying to work the Kitchen and the bar.

A very warm and cozy place with tasty food! Definitely come back again.

Great atmosphere, helpful and courteous staff, good ales, ciders and other drinks at reasonable pricing, right on the River Exe, close to the town and other amenities. Happy to recommend

Went for Sunday Roast very nice Potatoes a little bit hard but pork was. Nice shame the portion was so small

not a family friendly environment where they let people use foul language around kids. and also the male owner is well known for being a racist. so if you’re not white or have kids i’d advice going to a different pub where you can enjoy yourself. i for one wouldnt dream of spending a penny here again.

Good, reasonably priced food, by the river

First time in this local pub for many years. Excellent home cooked Sunday roast quality at a good price, fresh veg and home made gravy, what's not to like. Friendly atmosphere all at a reasonable price.

wonderful pint of tribute, beautifully kept, menu looks ok, will go back to eat at some stage. friendly locals and staff ,I was on my own but made to feel welcome. would reccomend anytime. update....still as good as ever...

Great place to have a drink and watch the football Beer is priced well. Didn't have any food so can't comment.

Stayed at the Holiday Inn Express City Centre and this pub was a 5 minute walk away. Good choice of home cooked meals on the menu and good prices. The steak and Stilton pie was one of the best pies I've had. Others had the steak and lasagne and all enjoyed them. Good portion sizes too. Would recommend a lovely meal here

Having a coffee and football is on. They do 3 Sunday Roasts,small £5,medium £8.50 and large £13.95. The roast looks good,be rude not to try

Great atmosphere although it was a Wake. Good choice of ales and ciders and the food for the Wake was superb .Service was fast and prompt, well done to Mark,Sadie and all the staff.

Arrived at Royal Oak on a Tuesday , walked along the river and it was closed despite saying in Google that it is open , so went to the Mill on the Exe instead and it was beautiful

A big thank you to Sadie and Mark for an excellent evening on Saturday. We had a great Retirement Bash. The buffet was superb, bar staff lovely and friendly. We had the skittle alley and all played. A great night and we would highly recommend this lovely pub.

Had a roast dinner dinner was lovely , There was lamb , chicken and beef 😋

Food was served on hot plates all6 meals were served together ❤ no waiting experience was fantastic landlord and landlady could not do enough for us well worth a second visit xxx

First time visitor even though walked passed hundreds of times!! Nice canalside location and great pub garden ...didn't eat anything as wanted to do so inside when it got a bit chilly but dogs not allowed ...and didn't want to sit in sports telly room...but didn't diminish the nice time in the garden beforehand 🙂

Nice food.nice location. Would have been better if the cook wasn't so rude and sarcastic. This pub is known for this so normally I would ignore it. But today was to much. I was laughed at and and was targeted. I forgot to wear my mask walking in. And on my way back out to the garden.after ordering she was very rude. I did apologize. However I want to strongly state that she wasn't wearing one either nor the people she was laughing with and didn't say anything to the people that walked in and without one either. So sadly I feel this is enough and won't bother going there anymore.I really didn't need that today. So just be aware of this and apart from it being a typical sports bar and clickiness it's ok. Shame tho have had laughs there.

Having attended this venue to represent a training company it was found that all covid guidelines were followed, staff absolutely fantastic and went out of thier way to assist or help.

Great service and fast, went to a place beforehand in the city centre and didn't get served for 30 minutes. Went for a walk along the canal and found this pub and glad we did 😀

Great to be back in the oak bite to eat outside sat near the glass wall with my pint Roll on the live bands when they are back.

Had a bowl of chips which I shared with my son Chips were nice but a miserable place wouldn’t want to work or drink here on a regular basis nice scenery and fit guy behind bar made up for it.

The chips were nice but the batter on the fish was soggy Shame as last month the fish was good No point in scrimping

Had 2 large roast beef dinners delivered for the first time today large portions well presented and when warmed up in the oven on low heat was absolutely delicious meat was tasty and lean gravy was to die for thank you very much best I've eaten in weeks

Potatoes soft and soggy also Yorkshire Pudding bland Edible but that’s about it. Need to take the potatoes out of the oven earlier

Delicious fish supper Nice bit of fresh fish with golden chips and a mushy Preston peas as me dad called them Very nice

Had a delivery yesterday the Fish was very Good but the chips were hard Really enjoyed the fish and would have it again but without the chips Hopefully the pub will be open soon.

Jus a lovely pub. Sunday roast chicken or beef all the trimmings and good service. Booked to go next weekend also. So can't be half bad. Lovely setting on the river, and sport on the TV. Happy man.

We were at the Royal Oak last week, the skittle alley was reserved for us and we had pre ordered our meals. Thatchers cider on tap was a must. The meal I had which was the steak and ale pie was great to eat and good value too. Skittles was a hoot! Definitely recommend.

Food was horrible and I forgot about this. I should have remembered. I will remember to buy a packet of crisps next time. One the ladies serving was strange.

We had a plated up roast dinner and it was really good, The only thing l was disappointed at was there was no drinks menu which you come to expect when eating in a pub and they seemed to only have one particular Red which was a house red I may be wrong but didn't see anymore there,but apart from that it was an enjoyable meal, Good Luck to Them.

Great location right by the river/canal overflow where the flood defence wall is glass so you can still sit outside and enjoy the view. Has a big car park and is near Exeter St Thomas train and bus stops. Has a private function room, and does food.

As a group of young adults we were discriminated against, told to leave and that we weren’t welcome as they refused to see our ID and said that they didn’t believe we were of age. Utterly disgusting behaviour

The main reason for my trip here is that I had planned to go here for an event in a month's time. I needed to pay for the event and was an opportunity to check the food out too. I got a fabulous accommodation deal only a few hundred metres away so before checking-in it had to be checked out. I think we stayed a couple of hours, rather than just a quick drink, we had food too. The bar service was a little slow to start, when we arrived with ourselves and another customer faced with an empty bar. However, the beer was beautiful condition and took the opportunity to sit out in the sun with lovely views. We decided to stay and have some food which is lovely and can only highly recommend. Magic 80s' playing both inside and out, it was a beautiful location, with great beer and great music. The pub is the hub of the Exeter Falcons Speedway team and it's there event that we are returning in a month's time and to be honest I can't wait!!!!

Poor landlords are very unfriendly not made welcoming at all !!!!! Never go again.

Lovely river side location, nice suntrap beer garden. Decent range of beers. Great fun in the games room and the pub allowed a large group of us use of the bbq.
