Simple menu, but definitely worth a visit if you like good pub grub!

No food tonight as they only cook from Wednesday. The wine and atmosphere was good. I had a nice wine from Devon so that was interesting.

Nice pub, haven't eaten here but food smells lovely.

Great atmosphere, obviously popular with locals on a Friday night. Felt welcoming too. Would have stayed for food but fully booked and would have been a long wait..... Obviously a good sign! We will be back.

Another excellent visit with food. This pub is run by very professional and efficient staff and the quality of its beers and food is excellent. Our principal server was Amy and she could not have been more efficient without being intrusive, also with useful advice about the menu and friendly banter. Highly recommended.

Village pub, but good atmosphere and menu. The dining area is smart and the service excellent. It was busy from 7.30 but no pressure to leave the table. The staff are helpful and obliging. (My friend had a meat free Sunday roast😀)

The food was very tasty.My mother was very impressed and said she has nothing as good in her area around Bedford.For a pub that is based in a small village you can't go wrong. Been several times now and great each time. Highly recommended.

Dropped by for some lunch was pleased from the moment we walked through the door staff couldn't have been better Had cheese burger which was amazing And pie of the day which was incredible tasty and well made

The cozy, family restaurant, fabulous atmosphere, hot for a fairly cold weather being December. Spectacular food and abundant quantity. The service of waiters of 10 attentive and close, being I from Spain they did their best to understand me.

We've been here lots of times with and without our golden retriever always good food from a great menu at reasonable prices

We live about 25 miles from East Bridgford and have friends who live nearby and also in Newark on Trent, and have once previously called in to the Royal Oak for a drink. Today however we had lunch with our friends and it was absolutely marvellous. I had reviewed the menu beforehand and it looked good but I was expecting decent pub fare. My expectations were exceeded. The meals we enjoyed were superb restaurant quality and tasted delicious. This marvellous food was matched with friendly relaxed and happy service which always makes a good meal go very well. I had a lovely light starter of three types of beetroot with goats cheese in a light dressing which was fresh and very, very tasty. To follow, I chose a smoked haddock with green beans in a mustard cream sauce which perfectly cooked and was better than delicious. It was sublime. (It’s normally served with new potatoes but I am avoiding potatoes). My friends variously enjoyed tempura king prawns with chilli dip, braised lamb with mashed potato, steak and ale pie, and fish and chips and one even made it to a sticky toffee pudding finale. Everything was enjoyed. The invisible team in the kitchen deserve 11/10 for the food offer and the full Royal Oak team get five stars+ from us for the whole experience. We will be back. (PS. I’m going to try and recreate that smoked haddock dish at home - Any tips on the mustard sauce?)

Was there for a sad gathering but staff were friendly and a pub I'd like to revisit on a happier occasion

After a 5 mile walk we dropped in here on the spur of the moment for a table for 4, even though the pub was already busy with Sunday diners a table was found, no problem at all. The staff here are very friendly but still professional. We had two Sunday dinners and two fish and chips, all food was served together and hot ( something I comment on alot ). We all enjoyed our food and couldn’t fit a pudding in unfortunately. I would recommend this pub 100% and if we’re in the area again wouldn’t hesitate to come back .

We didn't eat so carnt comment on food. Sat outside front for a drink. Fast service,but drinks quite expensive for the area.

A lovely evening spent here. Food was fantastic, we had fish and chips and ribs, followed by Eton mess and sorbet. It was delicious. Great beer too. Also a big thank you to the landlord for putting the football on for us We will return.

The food was excellent. A lovely, oozy lemon risotto topped with grilled seabass. A very good selection of low alcohol beers too. Service was OK but would have been improved if accompanied by a smile. The pub doesnt have a fantastic atmosphere but is quite OK. Dog friendly. The food made the visit for me.

Have visited theRoyal Oak many times and have always been made welcome. They set high standards and make your visit enjoyable. Yesterday was no exception, our food order was taken very quickly, following a short wait while our food was prepared and cooked to order we enjoyed our meals of Steak Pies and Chicken Pies which were very tasty with great pastry a proper pie. We were informed with an apology when taking our order that the Chips would not be as crispy as normal as they were using new potatoes. This did not distract from the quality and taste they were delicious . Had several other meals here in the past from a good choice of menu options and have always enjoyed whatever.

Lovely village pub with a great atmosphere; friendly staff and dog friendly (if that's your thing). Menu choice is fantastic, and the smell that wafts from the kitchen is enough to have you change your mind a few times once you see the food arriving to other people! Ordered the salmon potatoes & salad after contemplating the sticky beef salad. Was rather jealous when it arrived to a nearby table as great portion size, smell; presentation and remarks overheard. All food that arrived was piping hot; flavoursome; great portion size with no Nedd for a dessert thereafter. Sensible pricing and good value for money. Would highly recommend if you're on the area

Pros: Decent selection of beer at the pump. Nice beer garden out the back with plenty of room for the kids to run about. Cons: Customer service lacking. The landlady has been quite rude on more than one occasion.

Visited for the first time yesterday for dinner with a party of 9. Absolutely lovely place with plenty of outside seating and a great choice of ales. The food and the hospitality/service were 1st Class and the prices were reasonable for the quality. The Sea Bass my wife had was beautiful and the Burger and chips i had were the best i've had in a long time. Cannot believe this is our first visit being as we live not far away. Will definitely be coming back soon.

Been many times b4 - same as last night's experience, brilliant! Such a great village pub with proper quality food where you can tell that the chef cares. Great service by Mark and the other staff members also. Great atmosphere. Also, recommend the roast beef and pork - perfect, freshly cooked produce!! Pictured is the tempura vegetables with sweet chilli sauce; vegan tagliatelle and the sticky toffee pudding. Other party members had the sticky beef salad and the turkey - both being delicious as well. Will be back soon!!

Went for a meal last night. Food was excellent, pub classics done at another level. Really good value too with a friendly village pub atmosphere. Would highly recommend.

Visiting the area for new ventures and came across this beautiful place on the journey home! I had the rump steak cooked medium rare with some garlic prawns, chips and peppercorn sauce.. And Wow! Steak was cooked to perfection so much flavour on the plate, my mum had the small fish and chips and again all lovely! But the best part was the apple and mixed Berry crumble for dessert! Delicious!!! Mark was our server and he was very friendly and nothing was too much trouble.. Everyone else working was welcoming and friendly. Fantastic food for a fantastic price as well! Happy all round! We will definitely be returning!

Sunday 22/1/2023. Party of 11 including three teenagers and 2 children. Food excellent and proprietors were very accommodating and helpful as we're the young staff. Thanks again for your hospitality.

Made welcome on arrival. We were a party of ten friends and neighbours having our annual Christmas lunch. We all of course had our own choices but we chose well and whatever any of us ate we regarded it as excellent. A first class meal all round, reasonably priced and excellent but unobtrusive service. Thoroughly recommend this venue.

Six of us ate here last night. Not been since 2020. We went straight to mains, four had fish and chips, one chicken and I had ribs. All were happy with their mains except me. I had main course pork ribs. There were THREE ribs, accompanied by skinny fries and Asian salad. Not worth almost £15. When I came last I ended up taking home some ribs as I couldn’t finish them. Four of our party had pudding which they all enjoyed. A good evening and I will try something else next visit.

We called in for Sunday lunch en route home from holiday and it was fabulous! The staff were extremely friendly. The food was plentiful and tasty! They accommodated a smaller adults portion for me, and the children’s portion was also well portioned. The chicken was so succulent - not tasted chicken like that before! Highly recommend this place and should we return to the area we will not hesitate to visit! Thank you! X

We went on a Sunday not having booked. The staff were accommodating and found us a table. W only had a main course - Roast beef. The beef was cooked to perfection (slightly pink), there was an enormous yorkshire pudding, 3 lovely roast potatoes and...

Had a lovely delicious Steak and Ale pie . With a refreshing 🍋 Lemon and Lime drink. Friendly service 🙂

First time I had been out to a Pub/Restaurant in over 2 years and the Sunday dinner and desert I had there was superb, the man who was managing the restaurant area was really accommodating and friendly, he even went out his way to reserve...

This small pub is everything you are looking for: good beers, very good traditional food, clean and kind staff. We came here just because we were passing through the A46 at lunch time but we felt so lucky to find this spot. I had a fish and chips but I swapped the chips with a salad. The fish was perfectly battered, lovely mushy peas and the salad was asian style, so refreshing. My partner had the pork belly- which was cooked to perfection.

The Royal Oak at East Bridgeford has to be one of my favourite Pubs in the whole of England. Mark and Sarah are fantastic hosts who always make you feel welcome. The food is always beautiful and well made. There aren't many places where you can say I have never had a bad meal but this is true of the Royal Oak. I cannot speak highly enough of the staff who are very attentive and are a credit to the establishment.

Just had lunch here with family and sports club friends. Excellent food and great friendly service. Highly recommended and will be back soon.

Good local pub. Well decorated in and out. I visited after walking In the area. Excellent pint of Harvest Gold. Made very welcome. Noted they served food but didn't indulge. Toilets were very clean. Screens for sport. Off street parking was good.

I visited with three friends. The beer was good and the food excellent. I would call the style high end home cooking. Good portions and a balanced menu. I had the prawn cocktail with smoked salmon, steak and ale pie, and rounded off with sticky...

Visited on a Monday evening after another local pub didn't have cask ale, clean, warm, friendly and enjoyable. Beer appears well kept. Staff at the time were exceptional. Would visit again and try the menu.

I ordered fish and chips off the Sunday menu and it was the best fish and chips I've ever had. Fab.u.lous. Service was friendly and they didn't keep hassling us. Overall thoroughly enjoyed and recommended. Good value for money.

Saw this pub while walking with our dog, the first day after easing of covid lockdown. Was amazed to find they had a vacant table for us in the garden. Lovely lunch menu, great ales, perfect covid compliance, felt totally safe and very welcomed by the landlord and staff. Reasonable prices for exceptional service and food. The garden is massive and tables really well spaced out. If you, have been missing your real country pub experience in the last year, go here. You should book, because it really should be full.
