The Chestnut in Rushcliffe

We have been visiting the Chestnut on and off since it changed from the Cliff Inn so many a year, but Friday was the worst, don't get me wrong the Bar staff and serving staff are excellent, very attentive, polite and helpful, but if they get no back up from the Kitchen, they are embarrassed and uncomfortable taking orders and delivering food, we arrived on time and were seated at our reserved table, the waitress then gave us the menu and had to explain that the top three items on the menu were not available and there were no Pizza's either, this left three items to choose from and a list of sides, we should have left then !, we preceded to order with the food taking an age, on delivery the Large fish and chips was more like a mini fish and hundreds of chips, the burger was presented well and so were the sides, none of the food appeared to have been lovingly prepared but crisis managed, the wings were inedible the further we got down the plate, over all a not very pleasant experience, I appreciate that there have been problems with chef's at the Chestnut, but with such a reduced menu you don't need a Chef, someone should have rung us before we arrived to say there was a reduced menu, did we still want the reservation, rather than letting us turn up and be disappointed this is a great drinkers pub, but the food let them down this time in my opinion with the Manvers re-opening soon they need to get their act together sharpish

We visited as a family for Sunday Lunch, it was absolutely delicious! All home cooked & very tasty, the service was excellent - friendly staff who were particularly good with our 3 year old - we will be back soon

Second time we've stayed here. Just lovely. Comfortable, quiet, well appointed, spotlessly clean room. Lovely homemade (by Kelly) fruit cake and flapjack waiting for us. All great, but the overwhelming highlight was and is the breakfast. Served in the main house. All produce either homemade (by Kelly) or locally sourced. All the best quality. Served by David the consummate host. We are hard to please when it comes to hotels, restaurants and the like, but we have no hesitation in giving Chestnuts five stars.

Welcomed with tea and cake to a very comfy room, sat out on the lawn. Ordered the supper hamper which exceeded our expectations. Delicious with local and homemade food. Breakfast amazing and our hosts exceptionally friendly and hospitable. Thank you to both.

Amazing stay at The Chestnuts Country House, the accommodation is extremely comfortable, and the breakfast better than most 5* hotels, with almost everything home made and locally sourced. The hosts bent over backwards to turn a room round in record time so we could change for a wedding, adding to the great value of staying here! 5* and would recommend to anyone, we will be back any time we stay in the area.

Travelling south we stopped for an overnight stay at The Chestnuts Country House, Alverton. We were made to feel very welcome by our hosts Kelly and David . We enjoyed the quiet location and the lovely grounds of the property. We stayed in The Tack Room , a beautifully designed and comfortable room where we had all we could wish for, as did our dog with treats for him and freshly made cake for us. The breakfast was first rate. One special mention must be that everything is freshly made by Kelly including bread, preserves and sauces. The homemade yoghurt and granola is truly special. We also appreciated the field for the dogs morning exercise. All excellent and we will look forward to another occasion to stay there.

We had a wonderful stay at the Chestnuts which was perfect for us. Quiet and relaxing and well looked after by David and Kelly. Would absolutely recommend and will be visiting again.

This place is an absolute gem , located in the beautiful Lincolnshire countryside , it is a house steeped in history, the property is owned by Kelly and David who restored this home to an incredibly high standard. Situated on a 20 acre site with their own farm, the rooms are amazingly comfortable with four poster beds , en suites and fully furnished couches sofas etc , satellite, WiFi etc cozy warm countryside feel , extremely quiet area. The hospitality shown by David and Kelly is second to none , the quality and preparation of breakfast is just outstanding with all home produce prepared freshly from their farm , arrive to breakfast hungry , as you will be blown away by the high standard they set. It's a dream home , a tranquil country house to totally relax , unwind and switch off , can't say enough how satisfied our stay here was. Overall it's just a great experience staying here being looked after by a family who take absolute pride in making your stay as comfortable and satisfying as possible. Would 100٪ recommend, A++++

Another visit to The Chestnuts Country House and as fabulous as always! An absolutely delightful experience. The setting is amazing, our room was spectacular and the breakfast was stupendous. We cannot recommend a stay here more highly.

This has to be the best B&B we have ever stayed in. Kelly and David are excellent hosts. The rooms are first class with all amenities you need, and the breakfast was equivalent to a five star hotel. Homemade jams, breads, sauces and excellent local produce. Looking forward to our return!!

Lovely place to stay, cosy room with everything you need, amazing 3 course breakfast and so was the homemade brownies and flapjacks in the room! Was nice to watch the wildlife in the garden even see a Badger mooching about! Will be back again

Looked for dog friendly accommodation to break journey up back home from Devon, and came across The Chestnuts Country House Boutique B&B. Booked immediately after reading reviews and checking out website. What a remarkable B+B this place is. As for dog friendly, it goes way beyond that with treats, towels in room and dogs welcome everywhere. Such high quality accommodation at unbelievably good value. nothing was too much trouble for hosts Kelly and David, and Breakfast was a truly remarkable experience in a beautiful room. Highly recommend, and will certainly be staying again.

One of our best overnight experiences to date, hotels or B&B Service and friendliness is 2nd to none Dog friendly in every room EV friendly (3 x 2.2kw overnight chargers) Home made and local produce for breakfast which sets standards incredibly high A room that has everything you need and more, quality and luxury and most importantly a good night's sleep Our 2nd stay and we've booked again , the exceptional quality isnt an exception or an accident , it's what this great B&B is all about. 3rd stay..or is it 4th? I tried American pancakes for breakfast 🤤 as with everything else so far , truly exceptional Consistent quality and attention to detail

Without a doubt this is one of the best stays we have ever had. Kelly and David excel at what they do, the hospitality is outstanding and the breakfast truly the best of any hotel or B & B we have ever experienced. This is our home away from home. We felt welcomed and relaxed the moment we arrived. The homemade carrot cake, brownines and flapjacks were divine. The room was spacious and immaculate complete with beautiful cushions and fresh flowers. We loved the outdoor table and chairs to enjoy the peaceful garden. The breakfast is the best we have ever had. The homemade bread and jams are a work of art. The fresh baked plums/rhubarb and elderflower syrup with yogurt and granola was heavenly. The full English was all locally sourced and Cooked to perfection. David and Kelly are a great team and looked after us. We had the best time and can't wait to return.

Most enjoyable stay, especially the homemade scones, flapjacks and cakes left in our room. Breakfast was excellent with a wide choice on offer and all homemade. The accommodation was in a beautiful setting very tranquil. Would highly recommend.

We stayed 2 nights at Chestnuts Boutique Bed & Breakfast, we really enjoyed our time there. Prior to our visit we received an email asking us if they could help us with any information! On arrival we were greeted by Kelly and shown to our room. It had been beautifully decorated and furnished to a very high standard and made for a very comfortable stay. The grounds are beautiful with a nice area to sit out in. The breakfast was unbelievable, every thing was homemade, there was so much choice, excellent quality ingredients and far better than any hotel we have stayed in! Kelly and David are “The perfect hosts” and we look forward to returning when we go travelling again. Thank you!

We had most amazing stay in Chestnut Country House. Rooms was well decorated and very clean, we had in a room all what would require for short stay. Coffee and home made cakes on arrival were a nice touch. Hosts were extremely friendly and helpful. Breakfast in the morning was something special, so much choice and well served. Will definitely be back in this tranquility oasis.

We had a wonderful two nights at Chestnuts. Our experience of staying there was unique. Everything we could have wished for was provided, such impressive thoughtfulness and care for guest comfort. A quiet, beautiful location. Breakfast in the main house was absolutely superb, a real culinary treat - fresh, homemade everything, served by David with warmth and incredible hospitality. Brilliant and highly recommended!

Booked last minute but still great communication prior to visit asking our arrival time and giving us recommendations on restaurant booking for an evening meal. Upon arrival, we were greeted with a smile and a warm welcome. The garden and parking (to the left of the stables) are on flat ground and easy access for those difficulties apart from two small steps entering the rooms. Chairs in the garden outside to enjoy the tranquility and a croquet setup on the lawn. The rooms are furnished beautifully to a very high standard with ensuite bathroom and a large shower. A bed, towel, water bowl and treats were left for the dog and homemade chocolate cake for the adults. A selection of teas, instant coffee and filtered coffee available in the room. Breakfast was served in the house dining room. There were a variety of homemade jams to have with the freshly made bread. The country full English breakfast has the most amazing local sausages and bacon along with homemade baked beans and traditional potato cake. The breakfast was plentiful for us. A really delightful couple and pleasant stay.

This is without doubt the best accommodation that we have stayed in for a long time. Kelly and David were wonderful hosts and had thought of everything. They went above and beyond to make sure that everything was perfect. The rooms were lovely and comfortable and we were served what was quite possibly the best breakfast any of us had ever had.

Excellent food, restaurant standard, the cod with Mediterranean vegetables was cooked to perfection with an excellent selection of vegetables

I am very sceptical of reviews so did not read those on the site, but now that we have enjoyed two nights at Chestnuts, we can endorse all the excellent comments. First class experience.

Very nice stay at the Chestnuts with the most superb breakfast. Rooms modern and well appointed - though perhaps rather small. Hospitality was great and the provenance of each item on the breakfast menu was amazing. Location was quiet - which is what we wanted. Would happily return!

Our second stay at the wonderful Chestnuts and, again, it was exceptional. David & Kelly could not have been more helpful and accommodating. We absolutely loved our sanctuary at the end of a long & busy day showjumping. The delicious home cooked breakfasts were a fabulous start to the day and Kelly’s amazing home made cakes were very welcome too. We cannot rate The Chestnuts highly enough! Exceptional in every way. It was a real pleasure to stay in Kelly and David’s delightful B&B on our way down south from the Yorkshire Dales. The room was every bit as beautifully furnished as the website suggested. Very comfy bed and sofas, large TV screen, lovely en suite shower room and all the little extras you could wish for. Delicious cake and flapjack on the well stocked tea tray. Breakfast was superb, huge choice, all home made and locally sourced produce - pineapple and pink peppercorn jam ! - along with 4 other flavours. Breakfast taken in the main house with a chance to chat to David about its history. We shall certainly stay here again if we can.

This is the second occasion we have had the pleasure of staying at Chestnuts Country House. The hosts Kelly and David are so warm and welcoming it’s like being greeted by old friends on your arrival. The accommodation is always immaculately presented and very comfortable, with everything you could possibly need. Kelly and David along with the little extra touches they provide are what make your stay so special! When you arrive in your room Kelly has a slice of her home made cake awaiting you (lemon drizzle this time mmm!) Then to my great delight some of her delicious flapjack. Breakfast is always a treat with various homemade breads toasted, homemade preserves, yoghurt, syrups and sauces, all described by David, which makes you want to try everything and nothing disappoints. The cooked breakfast Kelly produces is second to none and is a must. Fantastic hosts and accommodation, which we can’t recommend highly enough. We will definitely be back again in the very near future. Thanks Kelly and David for another wonderful stay!

Hospitality at its best! Kelly and David are wonderfully warm and welcoming hosts who go the extra mile to make the stay a memorable one. Our room was very well appointed (brownies and flapjack on arrival!), the bed immensely comfortable, a choice of sofas and the breakfast delicious! This really is a five star B&B, I’d give it 6 if that were an option!

What lovely hosts! So glad to have been totally spoilt by David and Kelly at The Chesnuts. Delicious breakfasts with homemade jams and compote……. Immaculate and spacious room which was very cosy in chilly February. Friendly advice on where to visit…….we enjoyed Clumber Park, Belvoir Castle, Rutland Water and stunning Lincoln……..not forgetting The Workhouse NT which was really interesting. Missing your scrummy cakes Kelly! A delight!

We absolutely loved our stay at the Chestnuts Country House. Kelly and David are so welcoming and the accommodation is incredibly luxurious. The breakfast was amazing, with three courses and all served by David, who talked us through all the home made produce, which Kelly makes - jams, marmalade, bread - to name just a few. This is the best guest experience we have ever had and we will definitely be back. On arrival there was home-made cake and every small detail had been considered in the room, including dog towels for our little pup Barny! We recommend to anyone who wants a real treat as this stay is an experience not just somewhere to stay. Thank you David and Kelly!

My partner and I were lucky enough to stay at Chestnuts last weekend. It was by far the best hotel experience I’ve ever had – and I travel extensively for business and holidays. David, our host, welcomed us at our car (he happened to be outside already) and addressed me by name (that was my first clue that this might be more than your average boutique B&B). The room was amazing – spacious and stylishly converted from the original stables. Comfortable 4-poster bed, all very cozy and warm as it was chilly that weekend with frost on the ground. Plenty of sockets, all of which have USB charging sockets. Premium tea and coffee making facilities, and freshly baked cake provided each day. There’s WiFi access provided and Chestnuts has fiber to the home connected so speeds are no issue. It’s a lovely location generally – generous grounds and well maintained gardens. Basically it’s a really peaceful place to spend some time. And wonderful dark skies if you like your star gazing. Then came the real star of our stay – breakfast! Home made breads of different kinds, home made jams and preserves, each with a brief description from David. And a fabulous English breakfast that set me up for the whole day! The bacon, sausage and black pudding were all top quality, locally sourced and perfectly cooked. Day 2 I tried the Kejriwal - an Indian breakfast dish of spiced melted cheese, tomatoes bacon and fried egg on toast. OMG it was awesome! People often use the phrase “I couldn’t fault it” but this wasn’t about looking for faults, it was more about appreciating the enthusiasm and dedication to the art of hospitality that Kelly and David show during every moment of the stay. If you have any opportunity to stay at Chestnuts then I strongly recommend you just do it!

The Chestnuts was a real find. This was a work trip, so the location was dictated by that. However, we felt so welcome and comfortable and Jilly our greyhound also felt like a VIP. The room is lovely but the highlight was the wonderful breakfast. Kelly provided us with the most amazing vegan options, porridge, cherry compote, home-made breads, jams, and even baked beans !! in the most beautiful setting. 100% recommend and definitely hope to be back, thank you. We also found a nice dog friendly place to eat in the evening but do ring ahead to check.

Fabulous B&B, absolutely spotless and located in peaceful and beautiful surroundings. The room was gorgeous - spacious, comfortable, nicely decorated, and very well equipped. I had arranged a surprise party for my mum at The Chestnut and I cannot fault the service and experience. From start to finish I felt reassured that everything was in hand. Special thanks to Paul, Kristian, Joe, Jade & Kia. The food was faultless, the service was second to none, we were all super impressed. All the staff were friendly and made the experience that little bit more enjoyable and special. We cannot thank you all enough. Highly recommended. We will be back!!!

A fabulous birthday party occasion, there were 20 or so of us that the Chestnut accommodated for a birthday lunch . Food was excellent , special diet catered for , service was amazing , the whole ambience that was created was wonderful.Thank you to the team and just after Christmas as well !

Second visit in the lovely facility and hospitality in Chestnut Country house, it was my partners birthday and he wanted to go back to this spot, we enjoyed it first time 8 months ago, and again was lovely to be back. The hospitality, room, food was exceptional and we just didn't wanna leave. We had a lovely cake waiting for us in the bedroom, the owners went out of their way to prepare us most amazing dinner in a private room, the little details, roses on the table, question cards whilst we waited for food, lit lights, music was just so thoughtful. My partner enjoyed his birthday a lot, and we would choose this place over any places. We already look forward to be back again and enjoy the beautiful scenery and cosy room. Thank you!

Wow! What a find! We had a perfect weekend stay filled with luxury, comfort and beautiful surroundings. David and Kelly were the perfect hosts and the breakfast was out of this world. The suite was spotless, spacious and had everything and abit more of what you needed for the stay. We will be back and would highly recommend to those visiting the area!

Our meal today was really delicious, had a starter each very nice but the main meal was one of the best we all have tasted ,as a party of 4 , we try many a place for meals and this was top for Sunday lunch , main meal 1 veg hot pot ,loved it , 2 Lamb 1 beef , can’t fault it , CHEF you have got it right , will be back , thank you for making our tummy’s happy

Just spent an amazing couple of days here, enjoying 5 star plus accommodation. Kelly and David have to be the best B&B hosts – and we’ve experienced quite a few over our decades! The breakfast menu offers a wide variety of innovative options featuring some Victorian treats with delicious locally sourced and home-made delights. We were made to feel welcome as soon as we arrived and would highly recommend a visit. Andy and Ally.

Best lodging on our whole trip. Room was wonderful and our hostess was warm and welcoming. Breakfast was amazing. This is a very relaxing location nestled in a very small town but easy driving distance to pubs and restaurants. A perfect place to stay between London and York.

The reviews say it all & there is little I can add, except to say you don’t achieve reviews such as these without very good reason. Don’t hesitate to make a booking. You will certainly not be disappointed. It truly is a little piece of heaven & absolute perfection in every way.

The Chestnuts definitely deserves all the five star reviews. The bedroom was immaculate and very well equipped, they've thought of everything. The breakfast was superb, so much choice. We stayed for a couple of nights whilst going to cricket at Trent Bridge, and hope to return to the Chestnuts next summer when we can sit outside of an evening and hopefully play croquet. Wonderful accommodation in a lovely setting.

What a delightful stay - a beautiful and peaceful part of the world. This place definitely is 5 star. From our welcoming arrival from Kelly to the luxuriously appointed rooms, homemade cakes and the amazing breakfast with homemade yogurt, compote, jams, sauces, breads and a very tasty full English, everything about our stay was perfect. Even Joe (one of Kelly’s sons) was the most attentive waiter on his inaugural shift! Can’t wait to stay again when we are visiting our son in Ruddington!

There are only 5 stars on the scale to rate this... Needs more!! The Chestnuts is a little slice of Heaven in the countryside. Kelly and David are the perfect hosts and seem to think of everything to make your stay magnificent... We particularly love the EV chargers on site and the dog-friendliness! Oh, and did I mention the breakfasts?!?! Out of this WORLD... 😘👌✨

A wonderful and memorable stay - thank you. From the moment we arrived, Kelly and David were warm and friendly and the room was immaculate and super cosy and Kelly's cake and flapjack went down a treat. This bed and breakfast is another level and the breakfast was divine. I've never had such delicious food to start my day and my son gave the pineapple and pink peppercorn jam and his pancake stack a big thumbs up. We will definitely be back to enjoy the grounds, sunrises and sunsets in another season.

We’ve just returned from having stayed at Chestnuts Country House for five nights - it was one of the nicest places we have ever stayed at with lovely gardens and surroundings. Our room was beautifully furnished and very comfortable - breakfast was amazing it was very difficult to choose from the extensive menu!! Very generous portions and absolutely delicious!! Each day we would return from our travels to wonderful home baking left in our room which was a really lovely touch and most enjoyable. Our hosts David and Kelly couldn’t have been more kind, generous and helpful and we look forward to returning there again sometime in the future.

Our second stay was every bit as perfect as the first. The rooms had everything you could possibly need and decorated in style. We once again have to mention the superb cake and flapjack that is in the room on arrival. The grounds are wonderful to sit in with the extensive lawns and a game of croquet was thoroughly enjoyed. All of this is matched by the superb attention to detail at breakfast which is faultlessly cooked and presented with so many homemade products on offer together with the best of local produce. All of this is topped off by the owners who could not be more friendly and welcoming making you feel so comfortable and relaxed.

Stayed overnight in the Tack Room with our well behaved golden retriever. The room was amazing - everything we could wish for including delicious home made cake and flapjack! So quiet and peaceful just sitting on the lawn under the apple trees having a glass or two watching the sun go down. Beautiful walk around the grounds before the most amazing breakfast. Kelly ‘s cooking is worth the visit alone - all local produce or home made and David is the ultimate host. Can’t wait to return for longer next time

We stayed at this beautiful country house and I have to say what a fabulous hotel, Kelly greeted us with such warmth and the Room we were in ( the tack room)was very clean and very comfortable, The breakfast choice was phonomenal and huge portions I would recommend this hotel to everyone I also would like to mention Kelly partner David was a fabulous host please you have stayed at the rest but this hotel is by far the best.

This was an outstanding stay in every way . Room was spotless, complimentary homemade cake in our room was delicious! Top class breakfast with homemade breads and jams served in the main house . Kelly was an excellent host and paid great attention to our needs a provided extra help without being asked around my health issues . After 2 years we finally made it back to this wonderful boutique B&B, this time with a dog in tow. We were not disappointed, Kelly & David made us most welcome as before. This time we stayed for 3 nights & oh what an amazing time we had! The room was furnished beautifully with lovely, thoughtful touches. Chichi the dog was made welcome too, with blankets, dog bowl, doggy treats etc., they had thought of everything. David & Kelly helped find us lovely places to eat in the evening (all dog friendly). Breakfast was truly scrumptious with home made preserves & sauces and delicious homemade breads. It really is the best breakfast that we have had anywhere ever!! From start to finish, the experience was most enjoyable. I could not recommend this beautiful B&B highly enough. Thank you Kelly & David, we sure will be back, hopefully sooner than last time :)

We have stayed in some great luxury B&B's - this has to be the absolute best. Have to agree with all the positive comments - no need to say more. David & Kelly what a lovely couple - enjoyed our chats. Hosting was first class. A tip for potential visitors, book an evening meal! Breakfasts outstanding. Absolutely lovely stay at Chestnuts Country House Boutique B&B. The owners are really friendly, the rooms are clean and well furnished with plenty of tea and coffee options and home made cake! Breakfast was fantastic, lots of tasty options and fresh produce. The grounds are beautiful and we sat out at the table on the lawn to eat our tea in the evening.

Our second time staying at Chestnuts, this time booking two rooms with our older children. Again cannot fault this independent B&B. Unfortunately due to the weather we didn't get to enjoy sitting out on the lawned area but lovely rooms, hosts, grounds and a special breakfast. Highly recommend.

This was our second visit to The Chestnuts and was every bit as lovely as the first. Kelly and David are excellent hosts and made us feel so welcome. Everything about our stay was great, including the accommodation and Kelly's delicious cooking. We will definitely be back.

In My previous review I said I would be looking for a reason to return. Well its taken a year and we made a return visit last weekend. Nothing has changed. Everything in my first review still applies but more so. If we could give 10 stars we would. Thanks again Kelly and David for a fantastic stay. Absolutely superb. The most attentive and friendly hosts. The accommodation was very comfortable and set within lovely grounds and very peaceful. We had a great nights sleep. Breakfast was superb and all of the homemade jams a preserves were a delight. We would not hesitate to stay at this wonderful B and B and with wonderful hosts Kelly and David if in the area again. Thank you all the family for looking after us.

I stayed here the night before my wedding and the night of with my husband. The room was probably mess when me and the bridesmaids left after having hair and make up done all morning but it looked immaculate again when we arrived the night of the wedding. The decor is gorgeous and the surroundings are beautiful. The hosts were so lovely, very warm and friendly. The breakfast was a three course meal- set us up for the day! Thank you

If you are visiting Stamford, Nottingham or Lincoln, you really should try this place. Beautifully appointed, very generous breakfast and the food is gorgeous - obviously made with a lot of love! The hosts were extremely friendly and very attentive - thoroughly recommend.

Fabulous bed and breakfast in a beautiful, peaceful countryside location. Service from David and Kelly was second to none. A very warm welcome, lovely room and breakfast was one of the best we’ve ever had! Sitting out on the croquet lawn with a cuppa and a wonderful slice of homemade cake in the evening, listening to the birds singing, was perfect. Will definitely be staying here again!

Great stay. David and Kelly are fabulous hosts. If you're coming here - bring an appetite! They simply couldn't do enough for us from local tourist guides to dining options in nearby pubs. Definitely recommended!

Perfection! The Chestnuts Country House must be the best B&B we have stayed at! The room was superb; a great deal of thought has obviously given to it - it lacked nothing. Kelly and David were a delight. Breakfasts were a sumptuous occasion with Kelly's baked breads, an astonishing number of her preserves and syrups in evidence. We loved the place and will return when next in the area.

We totally agree with all the reviews from previous guests. Kelly and David are both brilliant hosts, attentive, friendly, knowledgeable, and such genuine people. They seem to go that extra mile, which makes them a special couple. Our room was tastefully decorated, spotlessly clean with the added bonus of a fridge. Each day we came back to homemade cake left in our room, baked by Kelly. The ambiance of the place was peaceful and complimented by birdsong. We will definitely be returning and have no hesitation in recommending this gem of a place, with its superb hosts, Kelly and David.

Wonderful place, people and service. You’d struggle to find better. When I’m in that part of the country, my go to B&B for sure. I was there as I was filming in the area, but it is a great short break location! Lovely pub not far away serving great food and ale too! The breakfast was superb with some fantastic little extras they had made themselves. Most definitely recommend. You will not be disappointed.

We are travelling through England from south to north and have stayed in 6 different B&B’s. There is no doubt that the Chestnut Country House is the best by far. It’s the people that make the difference and it so happens that David is the perfect host and Kelly is a superb cook that surprises her guests with different cakes in the room every day, a breakfast menu that is larger than some dinner menu’s in restaurants and when you have dinner she makes a delicious three course meal. David makes very sure all these meals and dishes are served in such a way you feel very much at home and welcome and nothing seems too much. When we were there it seemed it was just about possible to have breakfast outside and David insisted we waited 5 minutes so he could move everything from the breakfast room to the most lovely spot in the garden! A feast! And besides the perfect hosts the rooms are excellent, specious, clean, everything is there, direct excess to a large garden, parking around the corner, quiet and lots to do and see in the vicinity. We will be there in a few days again and we can’t wait!

What a wonderful find! Beautiful large room, comfortable bed, two sofas and a lovely touch with the tea and cake in our room to enjoy. Dined outside, with table cloth, napkins and flowers. We had a three course meal which was beautifully cooked and all homemade. We had a wonderful breakfast, again eating outside overlooking a medieval meadow. David and Kelly are wonderful hosts, so welcoming and friendly. Overall, high quality accommodation and service and we will definitely return.

We had the most wonderful experience stopping here this weekend. Such a lovely warm welcoming and a homely feel to it. The tack room we stayed in was absolutely perfect, and the 3 course breakfast in the morning was delicious.

Absolutely beautiful. Kelly was so lovely and accommodating when I was organising the booking. I didn’t get to meet her when we stayed however, we met with David and he was such a delight! Very welcoming and friendly. The grounds are so lovely and the room was impeccable. Super comfy bed and the everything was very clean. The homemade cake, flapjacks and breakfast were outstanding!! Such a homely feel and would definitely recommend to anybody looking to stay in the area. We visited for a festival nearby, so if we go to the festival again we will definitely stay again. Possibly the best B&B we’ve ever stayed at and definitely the best cooked breakfast I’ve ever had! David and Kelly’s philosophy is ‘what would we want if we were staying somewhere?’ - and that’s what they deliver. You get a very comfortable room with a super-comfortable bed, a sofa to sit on, two slices of home-baked cake, home-made flapjack, a fridge with fresh milk (none of that UHT rubbish, thank goodness) and assorted teas and coffee. A good shower and nice thick towels. Two umbrellas in case it’s wet when you’re en route to breakfast (the bedrooms are in the stable block apart from the main house). The large garden and surrounding fields are beautiful. Breakfast is fantastic - outside if it’s sunny (which it was for us). There’s home made compote and yogurt. Lovely fluffy pancakes. They’ve sourced the best bacon, sausages and black pudding they can find (sometimes made to their own specification) and made their own sauces to accompany them. All the bread, jams and marmalades are home-made and delicious. Just wow! And David and Kelly are so friendly. What more could you want?

We had a two night stay at the Chestnuts as part of my partners 50th Birthday celebrations, we only wish we could of stayed longer. The room was immaculate and the welcome was warm on arrival. Our room had everything we needed. Beautifully furnished, from the wonderfully comfortable four poster bed and the two luxurious sofas to the soft lighting, feather filled cushions and the dyson fan- everything was excellent quality. The bathroom was again immaculate, with ample soft white towels and quality toiletries too. The little touches like the welcome tray with homemade cake, and delicious flapjacks on the teatray, the umbrellas for rainy days, the soft, white dressing gowns and fresh milk in the fridge were all just wonderful. The front lawn with comfy wooden table and chairs is a quiet, relaxing area to sit, surrounded by beautiful trees, flowers and nature. We enjoyed a few games of croquet (once David had explained the rules) and he was also kind enough to show us another game called 'cubs' which we throughly enjoyed, we felt very much at home. Breakfast! Well breakfast isn't just breakfast, it's a joyful experience. The room is full of interest, and the table is set uniquely. We loved the question cards, I loved the little weights that sat on top of them each morning, especially Winston- delightful! The food was five star quality. Its made with love. Almost everything was homemade, the breads and jams were truly scrumptious. We were made to feel very relaxed and welcome. Nothing was too much trouble, (after ordering decaff tea for breakfast, David bought some decaff teabags over to our room, little touches like that are everything.) The chestnuts feels like home, whilst feeling like you're miles from anywhere- somewhere very special. We left feeling relaxed, rested, happy and content. On our departure we were given some delectable homemade chocolates as a thankyou for staying-.another lovely touch. Our hosts David and Kelly were friendly, genuine, kind, warm and welcoming. They have the perfect balance in hosting. They endeavour to ensure you are happy and have everything you need- perfect! We would love to stay again.

John and I were looking for comfort, relaxation and a little pampering; just a couple of nights away to rest and recharge. The Chestnuts was just what we needed. A perfect stay from beginning to end. David and Kelly are wonderful hosts, the room was so comfortable, the food was amazing. We had an afternoon tea on arrival which was absolutely delicious. Every little detail has been thought of down to the toiletries and the quiz cards at breakfast. Oh the breakfast!!! 😊 Come and see for yourself, you won’t be disappointed; the home made jam selection alone is worth the journey. We will definitely be back.

What a fantastic place! We loved everything about it. The hosts Kelly and David are charming and attentive without being obtrusive. The room was gorgeous and spotlessly clean and the grounds are beautiful. We added dinner to our overnight booking and it was sensational. Every course was delicious and accompanied by the most delicious home made bread. We loved the dining room, the ambient music and fragrance and particularly liked the little quiz cards. All rounded off by the most impressive quality breakfast. We wish them all the very best with their venture. They deserve to succeed.

This is the best B&B I have ever stayed in. Everything was perfect down to the minor details. Cake on arrival was yummy, the flapjack was amazing, the bed was incredibly comfortable and the bedding itself was that soft and comfy I have been out and bought the same! Hosts were brilliant and the breakfast was amazing ! Will highly recommend to everyone!

The Chestnuts is excellent in every way.There is a warm welcome from Kelly and David and the room was comfortable and contained everything you would need including home made cake! The breakfast was outstanding with so much home made produce.This is one of the best hotels or B&Bs we have stayed in and we will be returning very soon.

What a wonderful place to stay if you’re looking for total relaxation, comfort and hospitality. We received a warm welcome from Kelly upon arrival. We stayed for one night in The Coach House and can’t commend it highly enough. From its ambience, cleanliness, beautiful comfy bed and tasteful furnishings, we were assured of a relaxing night. The attention to detail, from the fresh vase of roses, the delicious cakes and the jar of dog biscuits and blankets for our dog, were greatly appreciated. At breakfast, we received a friendly welcome from David. We were offered an eclectic selection from a varied menu, all freshly prepared by Kelly. We thoroughly enjoyed home baked bread and a delicious selection of jams and sauces. We can’t recommend The Chestnuts highly enough and hope to return very soon.

The stay at The Chestnuts Country House was fabulous. It started with a warm welcome in a beautiful setting. The pub in the nearby town was quaint, delicious and very friendly. THE BREAKFAST was fantastic. Homemade and wonderful and I have to mention the English muffins were one of a kind and fresh. The history of the location was very interesting and a delight to hear about. Thank you Kelly and David! Please start teaching how to make that amazing bread. Amazing BnB, beautiful room with comfy bed and top quality furniture. Lovely homemade cake and probably the best flapjack I've ever had in our room. Very quiet location perfect for us and our dog. EV charging available using a 3 pin plug, pulling about 2kw. The breakfast was incredible, so much homemade, jams bread etc and meat from the local butcher. Would definitely recommend.
