The Plumtree Fish & Chips Restaurant in Rushcliffe

We were staying in the area at the weekend , visited the fish shop around 7.30pm on Saturday night . I ordered haddock and peas for myself and I can say this is the best haddock I have tasted in along time . We live by the east coast and no local fish shops can match this . Will definitely visit again when we are in the area .

This place serves Great tasting fish.. two of the main fish and chips in Keyworth/ plumtree area. Always busy and bustling with activity.

Always have fish and chips when visiting my elderly mum who lives locally. Easy to order on line so no waiting around. Very friendly and efficient staff and top quality food at very reasonable prices. Just wished we had somewhere like this at home in Essex🙄

Years ago this was the best chippy around. But last time we went there we were disappointed. The chips were dry but not crispy and were overcooked. We ordered the mini fish and heaven knows what they did to the batter but it tasted of nothing. I like rough, crispy batter but It was soft and so smooth it was almost shiny. The wait was pretty insane too and the queuing system confusing if not non-existent. Nobody knew who was waiting and who had already ordered. Plumtree chippy is not the cheapest around and for what you pay, I would have hoped for better. Having discovered a different chip shop in a different village I would happily drive a bit further for a tastier experience.

Excellent quality fish and chips. The best in the area. Absolutely ace batter. Crispy and delicious, plus a huge variety of other meals. No surprise they are award winning.

Ah, this is our local chippy and we love it! Peter is very friendly and his staff although a little green do their best. The cod and chips is exceptional, If you prebook you’re not kept long at all. Can’t wait to try the new Greek gyros!

Lovely fresh food. Mixed kebab was super tasty and didn't taste like your average chippy kebab. 👌🏻 Excellent portion sizing for price. Would recommend and will return.

Definitely a five star Michelin fish and chips. Have been having this almost twice a week😂 Taking this from a new starter at the UK, you should know how nice this really is. Cod is reaaaaally fresh and chips are generously served. Wished the phone would be picked up for reservation every now and then though. But 10 minutes wait is fair enough for freshly prepared dish.

This place should be Michelin starred to be right, what can I say other than whoever owns it must have meticulous attention to detail because every time without fail the quality of the food and the service is unsurpassed. I'd started to believe there were no really good fish and chip shops in Nottingham anymore but I wish I had found this sooner, tasty is an understatement and you can eat every bit - never any leftovers. Also they serve cold drinks in glass bottles which always tastes better and the background music is through a Sonos system - what more can I say!? Try it and you'll be back again and again 😋

Always excellent quality food. They advise preordering but don't seem to answer phones until they are open. They only cook to order, so the service can be really slow. I waited nearly half an hour.

Fantastic Fish and Chip shop. You know it's good as there's always a big queue. Chicken kebab is a personal favourite too. Bare in mind order your fish on entry as he cooks it fresh or you'll be waiting even longer. Mini Fish and Chips for the kids is perfect as well.

Had to knock a couple of stars off due to service standards dropping. Quality fish and chips BUT service has gone downhill though after recent staff changes, slow to fulfil orders. We pre-order but it's never ready when we come in, when customers phone an order and you tell them a time the order should be ready at that time, don't start cooking it after. Sometimes I've had people arrive after me and get served quicker, it's not a good way to treat customers.

Love this place, maybe over price but haddock and cod, you get a big fish well deserved the price and chips cooked to perfection. If you ask for a large portion, you get a Large portion. The staff are knowledgeable and very helpful. But one down fall is to do with me being from Manchester area, I like Holland pies and not pukka pies. They have other alternatives like donna kebabs and beefburgers as well.

Awful experience. My partner is their regular customer. Batter stunk of very old oil, haddock was extremely dry and batter was hiding some missing bits of the fish. Chips were under fried. Whatever has happened to that place, quality is no longer there. Sad to say, but we won’t be coming back there

Last meal I got I ordered a large chips and got a tiny portion size. My chips were also filled with batter. I did not have the opportunity to complain at the time because you have to stand outside whilst they prepare your food

Decisively average! Food was fresh, chips were ok, mini fish was soggy but biggest issue was the oil it was cooked in, tasted like dinky donuts. Also very pricey. Won’t be going again. Sorry

Staff went above and beyond to help me get a chip fix during the pandemic! I was nervous about going into the shop so they helped me out. And to boot the pie and chips were delicious! The gravy was gorgeous, thick and very tasty. Definitely recommend :)

If you frequent the likes of West Bridgford's Central Avenue restaurants, try this one; it's only a bus ride away. This fish and chip restaurant is family run, with a definite eye on both quality of food and service. The coffee is delicious too. I am an occasional visitor to this restaurant with my dear old Mum, who is a regular. She loves it here and at 88 years young, hops on the bus from West Bridgford to enjoy all that proprietor, Anna and her family, has to offer. I thoroughly recommend this fish and chip treat; try their Cod Loin and enjoy.

Best fish and chips in Europe, Seriously! Seldom do the owners take such care in their customers and food quality. Truly superb. Furthermore, They actually use quality Cod Loin! Prices are absolutely justified and provide great value. Get your fish and chips from this establishment and Do not delay!

Good service & very clean. Downside is the price for the food and the quality of it, it isnt bad by any stretch but the fish is okay and the batter could be better - however in all fairness I would say the chips are pretty good. I would come again but certainly wouldnt go out of my way for it, I would like to see more information regarding lunchtime specials etc and 1.10 is expensive for a can of pop given there is a sainsburys across the road.

This fish and chip shop is little more than 100 yards from where we live in the South Notts village of Keyworth. We have lived in this village for 12 years and have never had a bad takeaway meal from them. The haddock is always of great quality, and all food cocked to a high standard. Service is friendly and polite. Can be busy at times but that is pure testament to the quality of food being prepared. Would not hesitate to recommend our local chippy to anyone. But don’t just take our word for it, whenever we have family or friends visiting and decide to have an impromptu lunch at home, they always comment on the great quality of food from here.

Went to satisfy a craving for proper chip shop chips while on a visit to the UK. This place is busy and with good reason. They have adequate staff on, though, so the queue moves quickly and the end product very good. Recommended.

Stumbled across this place by accident as we were visiting family in the area, but what a find !Firstly, the staff are so lovely and friendly, without being over the top. They accommodated us at short notice as they only take bookings and we left full to the brim of the best chips we’ve ever had anywhere in any restaurant and lovely fluffy white cod, cooked fresh to order. The only thing that needs a tiny improvement is the batter on the fish. It’s good, but if was a tiny bit better, this would be the best fish and chips in the country. And it hasn’t stopped me giving it a 5 star review. But the chips. Just OMG. You have to taste these chips just once in your life. We will be back. Ps did I mention the chips ?

Nice environment and probably the best fish & chips ever. However, the bread & butter, offered as an extra, was stale and 1/2 left uneaten. The response on pointing this out was most disappointing - "Well, that's Sainsbury's for you" or words to that effect.Not the response I would have expected, otherwise it would have been 5 stars.Also note - no credit/debit cards accepted. Not readily visible on the website if at all and not pointed out at time of booking.

Our first visit to this restaurant but I am sure will not be the last. The restaurant has a very modern design and décor. The menu had a good choice of fish dishes. Our fish (one cod loin and one haddock) were very fresh with just the right amount of batter. The lady who took our order (the owner I think) was very nice and helpful. We did not have desserts.

Eat from the take out part of the shop. Fish and chips always excellent and the fish is cooked to order. All frying is done in rape seed oil leve the place.

I must have been here 20+ times and never had a dud week. Always good fish and always piping hot fresh chips. On top of hat its ran by a really nice couple. And the young lads are sound. Recommend fully.

This fish and chip takeaway and adjacent Fish Restaurant has received the highest award for its food provision and premises.Over my long lifetime I can safely say that it is one of , if not THE, best fish and chip premises that I have encountered anywhere. The food is always freshly cooked to order,extremely tasty, and very competitively priced. Having used them over many years I have never had a bad experience, and the staff are always very friendly.

The fish and chips at Plumtrees are fab. The people who run it are friendly and welcoming. Ask for a large/small cod to be put into the fryer as soon as you arrive There is a notice on the wall to say so but some are rather reluctant to do so.
