Surprisingly quieter than my previous visit. This is a nice pub with a friendly landlord. Some papers & mags to peruse. Quiz night on first Friday of the month at 8pm. 5 diff ales & 2 ciders available. No cobs on offer this time, probably as it was so quiet in the area.

Parking was a bit tight but once inside the welcome was warm and friendly. The room was comfortable and very clean. Such a shame breakfast was an extra and we forgot to book. Beer was lovely with a wide range to sample.

Just came back from a lovely little weekend in Shrewsbury. Stayed here for two nights. Charming little pub, Ste and the staff do all they can to make you feel welcome. My husband had actually rang ahead to tell them it was our anniversary. They went out for us champagne, flowers and chocolates for the room. So lovely. Ste and the guys really helpful and we had such a laugh. Can't wait to stay next year again for our anniversary. Rooms are clean, pub is lovely. All recently refurbished. Ale is great too! Thanks Ste

Great pub, fine company, great beer. Well worth staying at if you fancy a weekend in Shrewsbury, or if you fancy popping in for a nice pint, or anything else that takes your fancy.

Only a short walk, along river side, to Shrewsbury town - but it has free parking and is newly refurbished, so it is well worth it. Nice to be out of the busy town and just 'bed' is fine as Shrewsbury has sooooo many places to try for breakfast. Friendly host, clean/refurbished place - great find.

Stayed here for a friends birthday bash in the town. Pros Good location just outside the town so very quite Friendly landlady and pub area Free car parking Cons Room was in the eaves of the roof space so kept hitting my head (im average height) only four car parking spaces so lucky to get a space entrance to the car park is very tight and blind onto busy road when leaving wasn't b&b only b!

Visited this lovely pub recently and decided to go back and stay over night. Had a recent refurb and the pub is really nice, good selection of real ales and the staff were friendly and helpful. The rooms are exceptionally clean, and it's very quiet for a room above a pub. Will definitely stay again, it's location to the town is great just a 5 minute walk.

This place gave my daughter a faulty key, resulting in her being unable to access he premises and her room. She had to rely on the kindness of a friends family to give her a bed for the night after paying £70. She was then unable to get in the next morning, the hotel was not answering the phone or the door. She was trying for over an hour. I was unable to get confirmation that my daughter was safe. She had not been able to charge her phone as all her belongings were in the room she couldn't gain access to. This was last night, the night of the attacks on London Bridge. I simply wanted to know that my daughter was safe. Instead I was hung up on and my daughter left outside still trying to get in. It might be a nice room but the customer care in this case was disgusting!

I loved staying here and would have stayed longer if time had allowed. Recently changed hands ad they were in the process of renovating so no kitchen was available for breakfast. But was upgraded for the inconvenience. Absolutely wonderful hosts. Very clean and though above an inn and by a main road it was surprisingly quiet for one who is used to rural life. Hot good pressure shower and large TV to boot Parking onsite was a definite plus. Short and enjoyable walk by the river to the town centre. Well priced and would definitely stay at this little gem if in the area again.

Recommended by the accommodation I was staying in. Well worth the trip to this attractive village location. Very warm welcome, traditional village pub with real fire. Food very high restaurant standard. Highly recommend if in area.

I visited this pub with a friend out on a walk. The staff were friendly and helpful. We had food and some delicious beer. On a very sunny day, the pub attracted both locals and visitors. No negative issues at all. I would go back to this pub.

Went to this nice little pub on the Ladies Darts Night, the atmosphere was good with lots of friendly banter amongst the locals - however the range of beers was very limited and when I spotted the Mild on tap I asked for a Light & Mild However, much to my surprise the Landlord said he had never heard of a Light & Mild! I ended up drinking Guinness, which was okay but the next day I found the Bird in Hand on the over side of the street served Timothy Taylor's needless to say I have not returned to The Royal Oak since.

3.5 -4 Stars for me, If you're visiting Shrewsbury then the location is great for you, but you might struggle to park at this place. Don't worry as you can park across the road, for a fee. Our room was clean and comfortable but there were a couple of niggles. The radiator didn't work in the bathroom and the window was a little draughty but annoyingly, there was no where to hang a wet raincoat. Why aren't there hooks on the backs of doors. One thing that is rather irritating, is the fact that these places don't plan ahead. Clearly people are going to be having breakfast and there are surely going to be people who want a vegetarian option so why haven't the staff checked the night before, to see if they actually have vegetarian sausages. If they've run out then how about popping down to the local shop and buying some. It shouldn't be that difficult.

We had met up with our daughter and her family and decided to go for something to eat before we went our separate ways. Having never been to The Royal Oak before and as it was a Monday night we had their special Monday night menu. The food was all well cooked and hot, the portion sizes were very generous and tasty and very good value for the money. I definitely recommend it.

Three of us visited here before heading out over Brown Clee. It was just what we needed, only three mile from out start point. The Breakfast was brilliant, filled us up for the day ahead. Friendly staff, clean facilities highly recommended if visiting the area.
