The Royal Oak in Coventry

Just had my 60th bash in the Oak’s function room. Excellent service all round, big shout out to Grace who helped host the event and was so accommodating and nothing was too much trouble. And James for sorting the logistics beforehand , including the photo slide show. Pulled pork batches and mushroom alternative also went down a treat. It was a squash and a squeeze for the 60 guests but didn’t detract from a fabulous evening.

We didn't eat there, so I can only appreciate the atmosphere and the truth was an English pub like the traditional ones! A good handful of beers to choose from around £4 a pint.

The prices are absurd, literally unjustifiable. It's very local for us, but we won't use it. A once great pub, like so many in Earlsdon, but now gentrified horribly into a gouging paradise.

We only visited for drinks but quality, service and atmosphere was excellent 👌

Alright place, but the drinks are a bit expensive even for Earlsdon standards, and the atmosphere isn’t very welcoming.

Loved the pub for many years. Have moved away from the area,, but always good to go back when visiting for a familiar crowd and to talk with friends without shouting over music.... cos thankfully, they still don't play any. Just the natural atmosphere of what a pub should be.

Good Guinness 👌🏼 tidy outdoor area at the back and a reasonable function room in too. Solid pub where you can pay more than the local spoons to avoid the riff raff like Sean Underwood.

Very nice ambiance. Friendly staff. BUT drink prices...burnt. One to avoid if you want more than 1 London priced drink.

Love this place, great service especially the fab table service, lovely setting, can get busy and the hubby tells me one of the best pints of guineas in Coventry other than the Hearsall.

The Royal Oak is a traditional English pub. These days it is a free house, owned by Harry and John. The interior decor is great; as you would expect, all of the furniture, the bar and the surrounding woodwork is made of oak. There is a good choice of beer, wine and spirits here. Snacks are available too. Harry and John also own the eateries each side of the pub. You can eat to your heart's content, indulging in traditional English, and Italian, in Millsy's on the one side of The Oak, and Smokehouse food with a Kansas/ St. Louis barbeque and burger trend on the other side, in the restaurant called 'Street'. The Oak and its neighbours are well worth exploring. Well done, Harry and John, you have added another dimension to the lovely urban village of Earlsdon.

Good pub with outside seating area out back, though because much of it is glass covered can be too hot in sunny weather...good for rain though!! Ok selection of gins rums and spirits. Table service by glass collectors is a helpful touch.

Generally great pub but Pinot wine rancid ( taste and temperature) Royal Oak please sort it!

f think it's a laugh at these times. Asked if any Stella on tap. No was his reply I'll have a madri then please. How come no Stella I said his reply was the madri is cheaper. To my surprise the madri was £5,20 so I said I thought you said the madri is cheaper than Stella for him to say yeah cheaper for us to but in.

Always slightly sad to be asked to meet at the Royal Oak. It's popular and busy, but the beer is average and expensive and there's not that much choice. Perhaps they could have a guest ale each week. Staff are great!

This was a lovely pub, only had a half as was ale trailing but very nice beer, good selection of real ales. Will be back to sample the 'beige buffet' mmmm

Went for a drink here a few months ago after going and eating at the cottage .. just wanted to have a drink at an outside table with some friends.. because we had our little dog we were not allowed even tho it was outside !! ...me and my partner had to leave but we said to our friends you stay .. we won't be going back there again !! Shame on you The Royal Oak...

I love this pub! Really good outdoor courtyard and usually some great draft beers on tap. Staff are great and the only thing I miss is they used to do pork pies, which seem to have gone with the pandemic.

Reasonable (HPA Wye Valley), but expensive beer. Nice inside. Outside courtyard is OK, but impossible to get away from smokers. I'd frequent a lot more if they thought a bit more about people enjoying a beer outside WITHOUT contending with second-hand smoke.

Stopped for a quick lunch on our way to Manchester, the staff were amazing and managed to book us in at the last minute. Service was very friendly and attentive and food was delicious, the frickles were inspired and the brisket burger was very tender. Will definitely visit again when in Coventry!

Pleasant enough pub, not overly expensive. Busier than I thought for a Friday night but there's always space outside (with heaters) if it's too full inside.

Excellently kept Landlord and Bass cask beer, and I've yet to try the others! Usually, the bartenders offer table service for subsequent rounds. A nice touch. Good food too. This pub should be in the CAMRA good beer guide. Recommended!

Not there long but lovely looking place and nice service

It's on a street with several other bars, each a little different. This would represent a slightly upscale but really accessible and enjoyable environment. Great value, good for groups, well used by locals, late nights, good food as the owner has a restaurant one side and a cafe/restaurant/bar the other it's all good!!

Great local pub. Slightly dearer for wines. A small glass of Sav Blanc is 4.95, medium 5.50 but the quality is good. Lovely outdoor area with heaters in corner. Tasty toasted sandwiches & the beige platter - pork pie and pickle is fab. Excellent service by bar staff..

We always end up in this pub on our Christmas night out from the office. It has been extended over the years, so it can accommodate a lot of people. Good variety of drinks available. There is a lathe outside area which will suit the smokers, but also those who like the outdoor feel.

Lovely food as always, only downside is that waiting times have become longer - has been noted on several occasions recently - despite how busy or quiet the place is 😐

Nice pub warm and cosy. Lovely atmosphere and clean. The staff seem friendly. Good selection of drinks and good to visit. The only problem is that they charge too much for drinks . I got 2 double captain Morgan's and coke costs me £14.:it's like being in London lol. And nearly £4 a pint of Guinness and for a pork pie it was £5 so I will let you lot decide. Never mind don't think I will be going back there in a hurry.
