Very warm and welcoming staff, lovely menus, great food, and a beautiful pub in a beautiful village. And all at very reasonable prices. Oh, and good beers too.

Really friendly and welcoming. Food was amazing, best Sunday lunch out for a long time. Plus doggy dinner for 4 legged friends. Highly recommend.

Lovely oldy-worldy pub with large car park and nice village atmosphere. Food is superb and presentation is a little stylish compared with your average pub, not too pricey either. Service is excellent and staff are jolly, polite and competent. Overall, a very good experience.

Had a family meal here. There were 20 of us! Food was great, as was the service. A very nice atmosphere in the pub. At the time we ate, there is a discount on food for Eye Kettleby Lakes residents. Would certainly return.

Great village pub, steak and chips top notch, only slight moan is the drinks were expensive, £4 for a glass of coke seemed a lot, but would it put me off returning? No!

Chose the Royal Oak to meet up with friends for a Saturday lunch after a walk in the picturesque local countryside. Staff really friendly and accommodating, food was delicious and would happily recommend as we would definitely return when next in the area.

What a gem of a pub/restaurant!! Dropped in early on a Tuesday evening and had the most delicious meal. Would highly recommend!

This pleasant olde world pub has a friendly and convivial atmosphere. I went in a party of 6 and found the service good from friendly staff. Food was of a high quality but the pricing of the menus can be deceptive , 2 courses at £20 for Sunday lunch can be achieved but only if you sacrifice a number of essential elements of the meal. Firstly beef carried an additional £2 charge , stuffing extra £3 i believe. Most amazingly if you wanted the crispy fat off your roast pork it was another £3!!. Parties over 4 persons had an additional 10%tacked on the bill automatically which we had to requst to remove. Its like a fine for bringing in extra customers. 2 roast potatoes each and 2 small dishes of greens between 6 , not good enough. A small dish of cauliflower cheese £3..50 extra. As I say food good but £20 for Sunday dinner should not carry a plethora of extras . Nowhere else have I experienced this sly method of pricing.

We had a lunch at The Royal Oak today. We had not visited before and chose the venue as it was a convenient mid-point location to meet friends. We all had an excellent meal and enjoyed the occasion. The food and service were excellent, portions were just right for us. Would certainly eat there again.

Great food friendly helpful staff and good value

Food not great, overcharged on bill, had to keep asking for things - ie wine list, then the wine we had ordered, cutlery for main course. Nowhere to sit for a drink before the meal, the few seats they have had been reserved for people to watch Rugby. Shame as it us a lovely building, will not return.

5 of us had a meal last night n all the food was cooked to perfection I usually have a steak rib eye and it was cooked perfect definitely go again when in the area

Visited for the first time last week with friends who recommended, fantastic place! A warm welcome and superb food, venison pie was amazing.good selection of food and daily specials, along with beers etc. was busy so be sure to book! We will be back for sure.

Nearly £10.00 for a glass of warm white wine, leather tough steak and probably the worst glass of red wine I've ever had. 2 people, 1 course and drinks £90.00 and took 2.5 hours for the pleasure.

4 of us staying at eye Kettleby lakes came here for a meal Thursday 20th July and what a great pub and the food and service was fantastic hope to visit again on our next visit to eye kettleby

It was a very quiet afternoon. Food was very good, service was very good - waitress very kindly provided water for our dogs.

Nice little pub with friendly staff, we are staying local and they recommended this pub as dog friendly. We had fish and chips and halloumi and chips in the garden and it was really good food.

It's an absolutely beautiful place. It's a gem of a place and the staff are so nice and friendly. We stopped off for a meal and ended up having a lovely 3 course. They had a set 3 course but me and my wife asked if they had Prawn cocktail for starters (as I'm a oldie), it wasn't but nothing was to much trouble for the staff and chefs. The food itself was gorgeous, I had the venison bourguignon, and it was mouth watering. It had an extensive menu, something to suit everyone. The atmosphere was very relaxing. Spotlessly clean. Couldn't fault it. I would highly recommend the Royal Oak, you will not be disappointed, that's for sure.

OK but nothing out of the ordinary. Seemed well supported when we were there but won't be returning.

Sunday lunch, what has happened here has it changed hands ?? our table was by the coffee and fridge area where there was all sorts of goings on and cold blasts from the door also we were being asked where the toilets were all the time. One chair was so wobbly we had to get it changed, music blasting out so we had to ask for it to be lowered for us to talk. 10% charge because we were a table of 4 ? we didnt pay the full amount as we were dissapointed with the whole experience. Food average.

Called in for a light lunch but only had what I would call an evening meal menu. Most people I know prefer a lighter meal at lunchtime.

On holiday in the area and visited pub after a walk. Sat outside and had a drink. Weather not been great recently so I'm sure the garden probably hasn't been popular, but it would benefit from a bit of tlc to get it ready for the more warmer days for sitting outside. The meals being served inside looked very nice and the pub was very busy so it's obviously popular.

Friday night meal with my wife - mains and puddings were truly magnificent ! The portions were spot on, service was welcoming and efficient, nice atmosphere in the pub as well. Dog friendly although we left ours at home as I didn’t want him having ANY of my succulent rump steak ! He didn’t get a doggy bag either - it was that good ! Very highly recommended 👍🏼

Absolutely faultless in every way, can't rate this place highly enough. The food is exceptional and I had the best pie I've ever had without doubt! They even sell Staropramen lager that made it perfection for me. The service was also fantastic and price was reasonable for such high quality. Looking forward to working anywhere nearby again so can return. 10/10 a very well done to all that make this gem so superb 👏

Lovely Sunday lunch but worked out very expensive after supplements, service charge and even a charge for an extra 3 tablespoons of custard were added! The sticky toffee pudding was warm on the outside and frozen on the inside! Will be thinking twice before we go again.

Had a lovely early valentines meal with the wife, beef medallions for me and pan fried salmon for the wife, everything was spot on, can’t recommend it enough

Staff were friendly but poor choice of menu and when I saw some of the groups Sunday lunch and my order I felt for the price that it was too small a portion we waited ages for it to come out and when it did I was shocked when my starter came especially for the price 3 scallops and felt I ate a bit of garnish and sauce overall the main was a bit excessive for the price too my local fish and chips are nicer than them and cheaper but what shocked me the most is when some of are group ordered dessert we got asked to leave and I was appalled so they asked us to take out 😮 We had booked the table as well I paid £30 for the starter main and two ciders I won't be going back if this is how they treat there customers

Very nice pub lovely people but oh my god it was pricey at £9 for a pint of moretti larger and a large lemonade the menu was confusing with extra charges for certain dishes as you can see in the photo never the less we had our drink and didnt stick around to find out what a 2 course Sunday dinner looked like at £30 a head ....

Called in at lunchtime today and had the best Fish and Chips we have ever eaten! They were delicious. Nice friendly relaxed atmosphere which is dog friendly and served by Patrick (I think) - nothing too much trouble. Would have no hesitation recommending The Royal Oak and calling back again - thanks.

Went for Boxing Day meal with my daughter ordered a bottle of Sauvignon and was served a bottle of wine from Aldi that costs £6 and they charged £26 for it, when questioned they then charged £16 and was told that they had ran out! I told them £16 was still a cheek but didn’t want to cause a scene as my daughter was treating me. I find this very deceitful, we should have been informed that it was not the wine on the menu and charged accordingly, £20 profit and n 1 bottle of wine? Will not be coming back which is a shame because it’s a nice little pub. Oh and note to the bar staff I could hear what you were saying from where I was sat!

3 out of the 4 main meals we ordered they got wrong, my steak they totally got wrong and i couldn't eat it, they did deduct it off the bill, the staff were very warm and friendly and the atmosphere in the pub was good

Went here for a Sunday lunch for 4 people recently. We were all so looking forward to a roast beef dinner as a lot of pubs can't match home cooked. The online pictures looked great. However, we were all disappointed. We were seated at a table barely bigger than a school desk. When our beef dinners arrived we had to rearrange everything on the table, drinks, ornaments, candles etc to fit the plates & shallow ashtray sized trays of veg. We all looked at each other agog when our dinner knives were swapped for streak knives!! The main plate of food looked OK but the rare (how we like it) beef was thickly sliced, hard to cut & chewy. Topside should be finely sliced as any cook knows. I nearly choked as the beef didn't break down in my mouth. Also, there was a continual noise of Muzak meaning any conversation was strained. For the premium price, £30+ , we expected better. We won't be back. All thoroughly disappointing.

The food was great and so tasty, I can recommend the steak and ale pie and the beef daube. The desserts were just as delicious we had crème brûlée, sticky toffee pudding and eton mess. Very dog friendly. Great atmosphere, quick service and attentive staff. What more could you want?

Just been in for the burger and pie night, the steak and ale pie was the best pie I ever tasted, finished the sticky toffee pudding so quickly they didn't even have time to check how it was🤣 very well presented with a nice mixture of vegetables and a honey roasted carrot was a nice touch, really seperatong themselves from the other local establishments

Was in for Sunday, had the beef topside and my Grandchildren had the turkey, everything was cooked to perfection with the beef coming nice and pink, the gravy was out of this world, finished off with a wonderful bakewell tart

Went for a mid week evening meal and although I hadn't booked I was very warmly welcomed and was sat down within minutes. I had the Steak & Ale Pie and the Scotch Egg and both were delicious! Was served by warm, friendly and efficient staff. A true country Gem with a fantastic Wine selection, great beers and spirits! A must visit and can't wait to return!

First time at this establishment and it will sadly be the last. We had a very abrupt waitress which spoiled the experience from the start. Two of the four drinks we ordered were not available. Then we ordered our meals which were two pies and two sausage and mash. While the pie was absolutely lovely the sausage and mash was very small with literally only sausage and mash with one tiny stem of tender stem broccoli. It was very tasty but very small. It wasn’t until we had finished our meals that the table next door received their meals and we had not been given the ramekin of cabbage and peas that went with the sausage and mash. By then we had finished and was waiting for pudding. When I asked if the sausage and mash was supposed to come with vegetables the waitress asked me what it said on the menu? Surely she should know that not me as I no longer had a menu to reference. I was then told that “I should have said”. My question was how would I know as I don’t work there and have never been before? Surely as the waitress who delivered our meals she should have noticed two bowls of vegetables were missing??? When the bill arrived we had been charged full price for the two half meals that we had been given and again was told by the chef when we questioned it that we should have said?? Sorry but never again.

Had a lovely evening meal on par with the best sea bass I've had the dish was tasty and flavoursome, staff were great we will definitely be back to try out the rest of the menu.

I will nit be going back. The worst Sunday Lunch I have ever had. Service slow, meal cool. the Royal menu is a joke. I did get a reduction off the final bill. We were a Family meeting here from Derby, Nottingham and Melton very disappointing.

Booked a table for Sunday lunch, arrived 5 minutes early and our table wasn't ready so got a drink and sat outside, waitress came out and advised that our table was ready and it was advisable to be seated as our table was re-booked for an hour and half later. We went straight in and waited to order, it was then 10-15 minutes before our order was taken, 35-40 minutes following that our roast beef lunch arrived, we sent the vegetables back as they brought those a good 5 minutes prior to the meal so they were subsequently cold, the beef although described as rare was cooked extremely well done, it's a shame as the flavour was there just very poorly executed and dreadful service, no apology for the time it took for the food to come out nor were we even asked if we wished to order dessert, very disappointing.

Just had a wonderful meal at the Royal Oak Great Dalby, amazing tempura prawns, followed by battered halloumi, and crème brûlée. Great atmosphere, and a really hard-working team. Thank you very much Royal Oak for making my birthday so special.

Poor service, long wait times and food was expensive.

Had some really good meals here before, but just had a really small and overdone burger and some cheap, pre-made dessert I had to wait a long time for. Not awful food but can make better at home.
