A great pub with lots of indoor and outdoor dining space! Fab service too!

Great village pub, friendly staff

Gem of a pub in the middle of the village. Family friendly, has a beer garden also pet friendly. Great car park plenty of space and it’s free! Bar manager Ruth is a superb hostess who knows her locals and brings everyone together with her lively banter and service.

Lovely pub, wonderful atomsphere always something going on entertainment wise.

Went to the quiz night for the first time great atmosphere the quiz master was hilarious, we’ll be back!

Visited for the first time after going round the waterpark, dog friendly lots of choices of drinks for kids & they loved the pick n mix sweets!

Staff were very friendly. We went in for Sunday lunch and was not disappointed, the beef was perfectly cooked, veg was really nice but the cauliflower cheese was absolutely gorgeous. Thanks to the friendly lady who served us and made us feel welcome. We will be back. The picture was taken after I started to eat, it came well presented so this doesn’t really do it justice.

Just had a lovely meal here tonight, I had freshly cooked fish that had a light crispy batter with crispy chunky chips - Partner had rib eye steak that was great quality, very tasty and cooked exactly how he'd asked. Desserts were so indulgent - I had trio of brownies with ice cream and partner had white chocolate cheese cake, both portions were large and very tasty. Strongly recommend this place, staff lovely and friendly and big shout out to the chef, he's very talented.

Just had a lovely meal here tonight, fish was in a lovely light batter, nice thick white fish too, partner had rib eye steak which was great quality and cooked exactly how he'd requested. Desserts were very indulgent, such a lovely treat to be here tonight. Strongly recommend this place. Great to have such a quality chef in this place, lovely pub already and the chef and his food have made the pubeven more welcoming.

Really good pub with a friendly atmosphere and a decent choice of drinks. Also, I had a Sunday roast fully loaded with homemade roast potatoes, which was very nice.

This a great local to stop in and have a few pints with friends either after work or at the weekend. The staff are very friendly and there is a good variety of drinks on draft.

Not a Sunday lunch! Ok so wine served in a large goldfish bowl (gin glass). On arrival told sorry no chicken so not a great start. Choices beef & pork. Should have gone with initial thought of not staying. Couldn’t see anyone eating, just drinking. Table for 2 & first thing bar guy had to do was move a broken chair. So food delivered no Yorkshire puddings, when asked waitress she said they’d ran out, the poorest serving of mashed spud, 3 tiny roasters & laughed as counted 10 peas on plate. The veg was shocking, what there was of it. The poor waitress came to see how food was & said I’m so sorry I know it’s not your fault but I’ve never had such a bad roast & my dogs have been served better! I will never set foot in this place again! £26 thrown down the drain. When complained asked if wanted any more veg. Well it would have been nice to have some to start with. Did not see waitress again for dessert choice but not sure what that would’ve been! Shocked that can actually think this is ok. I only ever review on good food & good service! I seriously should have taken a photo. Try to support our pubs but sorry if you can’t deliver food, don’t try & serve it! Stop putting your staff through this embarrassment too.

Great country pub in the village of Kingsbury next to the Water Park. Went on Saturday to the Christmas Fayre, live music, lovely stalls and Hog Roast. Staff were so welcoming and friendly, went back Sunday for a lovely roast lunch. Delicious. Will be taking my grandson for Lunch with Santa next Saturday 16th. 😀

Had an absolutely fantastic meal here with the family yesterday. The food was absolutely awesome (i had the pork). It was beautiful and cooked to perfection. Massive compliments to the chef. All very reasonably priced. Service was quick and staff were very polite. Werent waiting long at all and we will definately be coming here regularly from now on. Hidden gem this one. We live 10 mile away but we dont mind travelling for the right place and right food so thank you and see you all again very soon. Michael

After recently been taken over by new management. We meet some friends regularly for a few drinks. The pub was clean and Mike the new manager on site is welcoming and friendly. Can’t wait to see the new food offering which is coming soon. If you haven’t been recently I recommend you popping by.

Amazing village pub with a great atmosphere and to top it off a warm welcome from the new management. Would highly recommend for family’s, dog walkers and any one local to the Kingsbury area, they have new upcoming events covering all occasions and it’s only a short walk away from Kingsbury water park. Would highly recommend popping down and seeing it for yourself😌

Me and my family sat outside and had a Sunday roast last weekend. It was lovely! The food was really nice and a good price. It’s recently been taken over and you can already see a big difference in the place 😊

Had a great time celebrating the Kings Coronation. Long live the King. Had good entertainment and service. The queue for the bar was out the door, which was expected as so many people came. Could of had more bar staff, but there was only so much space back there. Keep up the entertainment and people will come. Much love.

Great local pub, always been a pleasant sight after a long walk in the local park. A very large outdoor seating area thats dog friendly and new management seem to be taking the pub in the right direction. Cant wait to see what’s next.

It’s meant to be a family pub but I wouldn’t take young children into this pub. I took my brother in there for a pub lunch and had a couple of drinks. My brother of 2 years old was having fun and laughing. The manager came up to me and said he came in for a quiet drink and didn’t come up to listen to loud noise. Kids will be kids! He was very good just laughing and having fun. Do not take younger kids into here!!!

We arranged to meet at this pub , whilst dogs being groomed...... One friend arrived early , and was made to feel very welcome. Friendly staff and attentive. We are out meals next to the fire,which was lovely The food was excellent, very tasty and plentiful served with a smile, and very good value. Thank you Jeanette, and Annita , we will be back.

We were heading back to Cardiff after a day out at Drayton manor and wanted to avoid traffic. What a shame we aren’t local and stumbled on this pub. From the minute we walked in with 3 kids in tow we felt welcomed not only by the lovely barmaid but the locals too. The food was absolutely delicious and nothing was too much for them. Absolute gem of a place and if we’re ever in the area again we’d definitely revisit!

Beer and service were excellent food has quite a lot of room for improvement.

Lovely meals, tasty & plentiful. If you like chilliest, try the spicy chicken strips in the basket just over a fiver & the steak pie is to die for - full of lean steak which just melts in your mouth. Good prices too! Would suggest you sit in the restaurant area rather than bar for food.

Popped in for a short break whilst walking around kingsbury water park. Was plenty of seating outside to enjoy the nice weather and a little play area if you have little ones. Good price drinks and friendly lady on the bar 👍

A visit to Kingsbury water park led us to stroll into the nearby village. Our first visit to this area...and to this lovely traditional pub. Such a warm welcome and a great relaxed atmosphere. We decided to stay for lunch and we were so pleased to see the extensive menu of, mostly, traditional English dishes and a great home made section, which is what I always look for. The Steak and Ale pis was amazing (real pastry top & bottom!), as were the faggots...proper butchers faggots too! We will definitely visit the nearby water park again, which obviously means we will certainly be visiting The Royal Oak again.

A friendly local pub that serves good beer and has a large menu all priced very reasonably. The Sunday lunch is always hot and portion size is good for the price of five pounds ninety nine. Staff friendly and nothing is too much trouble.

Went for a family meal and I honestly couldn't fault it. The meal was delicious and hot , the staff were very friendly and helpful and really polite. Definitely recommend the royal oak. 10/10 and a big thank you to the staff for making us feel welcome.

15 9 19 Royal Oak Sunday lunch was really tasty and big portions. We went with family and had a great time Traditional pub fare we had Sunday roasts and scampi and chips plenty of it and good beer. Was very busy probably best to book a table at the weekend. Had outdoor swings and slide for kids and nice outside tables if weather was good.

Went for food. It's typical pub grub and certainly won't win any prizes but my liver and mash was ok. The guy on the next table complained that his pork was like a piece of old leather but it got swapped for him.

Went here after a walk in kingsbury park. Place is very cosy and staff are friendly. It had a nice fire going in the fireplace. We ordered food for 4 people - 3 cheese burgers and chicken dippers all with fries. All tasted good and were good value for money. Bill for food was about 12 quid for 4 people and for drinks and other 12 quid so all in all very cheap comparatively. Food took a little long but was quite tasty. Lady toilets were clean and I found no EDL stickers as mentioned in other reviews. Atmosphere seems friendly and relaxed. All in all I would go again.

I've always found the food lovely, and you couldn't find better staff, very friendly and welcoming. I've got an autistic grandson, Gemma and Elaine cudnt be any more helpful with him, wen we visit.

Wouldn’t even give it a one star. I ordered faggots, it’s was like dog food and terrible service. Dirty pub. Food standard agency need to visit the pub!!!!
