Great pub right across from the Radisson Blu Hotel. The haggis was outstanding. The pie of the day was also perfect. Service was super friendly and attentive. All in all, highly recommended.

It's very good and is right on the Royal Mile. There may be a bit of a wait depending on the time of day. They serve very quickly. They have typical Scottish dishes and burgers and hot dogs.

The interior was truly amazing. We ordered 2 starters, 2 main dishes and 2 beers. The service in the beginning by was good but after it felt they forgot about us, we waited super long for the main dishes and after tried to find a waiter to pay The food was good! A bit pricey as it is among the center where are a lot of tourists

Nice evening. The staff was very friendly. The kitchen closes at 9 so we had to hurry to put in an order. Standard bar food with a pint. We did order the fried Mars bar for dessert. It was interesting but would pass in the future.

Food: very good, the only thing I don't recommend is the pie of the week. Service: the girls were very nice and professional despite some differences…. Flaw: We had to wait 20 minutes at the beginning, then when we entered they made us wait another 10 minutes before giving us the menus. Price quality: good

To discover a real Scottish pub, this is an excellent address! Thanks to the servers for their efficiency, I was able to admire their logic given the constant crowds! La.carte offers real typical dishes that are delicious and a wide choice of drinks! The atmosphere is very warm, good music. A great discovery! This pub is an excellent address.

We arrived for dinner at 7.20pm and were given a seat near the entrance. For one thing, we were cramped and every time someone had to move to the next table, I had to move. Slow service.... They only took orders because I had to call them. The food arrived almost 40 minutes late...I would say too many for how many we were eating (the place wasn't even completely full). The quantity is sufficient, but the flavor...to be reviewed. It's all bland.... Only the sausage was good, the rest didn't have a strong flavor. The kitchen was already closed at 8.20pm. In the end there was also a surprise on the bill... they charged us 3 pounds more and I don't even know why. I won't go back....avoid. The only positive note is the environment and the pub atmosphere.

We were seated immediately and with a smile! They were rather busy but still gave us excellent service and the atmosphere was buzzing. The food - Cullen skink, halloumi fries, highland chicken and classic burger - was all perfect and really tasty.

Brilliant experience the food was fantastic my mother left her purse behind and they put it behind the bar straight away. This shows how great and sufficient they are at the the cleanliness of the place

The food was phenomenal. We had The Messy Pig burger and it was spectacular. Best burger I’ve had in a while. The atmosphere was calm with light music. The staff was incredibly friendly. Highly recommend!

Always go here for a couple of drinks when in Edinburgh. Didn’t do food this time as had a meal booked for 5.

The attention is incredible. They are very friendly, the suggestions for food are delicious and the atmosphere is very pleasant.

Staff were great, very friendly, welcomed my dog too. Originally popped in for some drinks but then decided to get food, wish we hadn't bothered. My partner and I got the macaroni cheese which was the most bland dish we'd ever tasted - I'm just glad I added bacon to mine to give it some sort of flavour. I had to wait another 15 minutes for mine as they had put through the wrong order at first, and when it finally came out they had forgotten to bring my cheesy garlic bread which was cold by the time it finally arrived, obviously made when we first ordered and left to sit while they remade my mac & cheese. Chips reminded me of the kind of chips you get from the Chinese - cheap and slightly undercooked. Would go back for drinks as reasonably priced and a nice place overall, but definitely wouldn't eat here again.

Absolutely lovely pub with live music when we went on a Saturday night. Delicious and reasonably priced drinks; the whiskey and coke, gin and tonic, and beers were all good. This is also an excellent place to try local flights of whiskey for about £24.

Wonderful bar which has really welcoming and friendly staff. The food is delicious and very well priced. I visited The Royal Mile Tavern a couple of weeks ago with some work friends. There were 10 of us and this bar was so accommodating and helpful. We were all very impressed and would highly recommend

I stopped in to the Royal Mile Tavern after I had completed a sightseeing tour. The food was wonderful & reasonably priced. My server was friendly & made me feel very welcome. I highly recommend this restaurant.

Only 1 ale on offer, and it was a very bland ipa. Also seems the most expensive ale in Edinburgh at £7 a pint. Had the heating on so hot to try to force customers to buy more drinks. Certainly nicer and cheaper pubs on the royal mile

We were well taken care of even while busy and with our two toddlers, we were well received.

During my recent visit to Edinburgh, I had the pleasure of stopping at the Royal Mile Tavern, located in the heart of the historic Royal Mile. The menu features a variety of traditional Scottish dishes, including haggis, fish and chips and Cullen skink. I opted for the fish and chips, which turned out to be crunchy and tasty, accompanied by a selection of high-quality local beers. The staff were friendly and helpful, helping to make the experience even more enjoyable. The environment is characteristic, with wooden furnishings and details that recall Scottish tradition. Additionally, the pub offers live music on some evenings, adding a special touch to the evening. In conclusion, we tried the fried mars...you got it right!! The Mars bar completely frozen in batter and then fried in boiling oil...not exactly a typical and healthy dessert but truly UNIQUE!

The service and atmosphere were great. Traditional Scottish food was very good and the tasting of Scottish whiskey is delicious.

An ideal place to eat Scottish food, a very cozy atmosphere, the waitress who served us was very friendly and explained everything to us in detail, I would definitely repeat.

Went for a drink post rugby at murrayfield and to watch the remaining match on tv. Husband love the cask ales. We cancelled food booking for elsewhere and stay. Food good and plenty of it.

Great beer. Temperature was not ideal (bit chilly). Live music was great, Australian singer was talented with a great back catalogue of tunage.

Great Pub in the Mile! Was very busy but the staff found us a place to sit and have some drinks. Bartender was very helpful when I asked what Whisky they recommend. He recommended a variety for all kinds of budgets I did go for a high end one and he was ever so happy to tell me all about it. Drink selection was great and fairly priced

This tavern was opposite our hotel (Raddison Blu). We ate on a Sunday evening and we're seated immediately, served our pints of cider quickly. I ordered the Highland chicken which was stuffed with haggis, this was incredible and my favourite meal of our 4 day Edinburgh trip. My husband had the Mac'n'cheese served with bacon bits and garlic ciabatta which he loved. Al around great service, lively charming atmosphere, and superb food at very good prices. Thank you

Hair o’ the Dug playing Saturday night made for a brilliant experience that had the whole pub singing their hearts out Service was great, small complaint dealt with swiftly and appropriately. But I would warn anyone off having the pie of the week- very small portion Beer good, wine ok but nothing to rave over. Worth it for the singing though

To feel like you're in a "tavern"...

Came in here on New Years Eve for an early drink with friends. The place was busy, but no mobbed, and the atmosphere was buzzing. Great old fashioned feel with great selection of drinks at reasonable prices. Didn't eat but the menu looked great as did the food that other patrons were enjoying. Would like to have stayed to see in the New Year as the place had a really great feel but we had to go as already had a booing elsewhere.

Algunos de los camareros más groseros del mundo. Cero hospitalidad; parece que el propietario ha contratado matones callejeros para servir bebidas. Llegué al lugar alrededor de las 9: 30 PM. Quería probar algunas maltas locales agradables y pidió recomendaciones. El camarero me preguntó cuál es mi rango de precios por bebida. Le di un rango de precios más alto. Selecciona la bebida más cara de esa gama, la sirve, coloca el vaso delante de mí y se aleja. No hay mención de qué bebida, cómo sabe, cualquier otra pequeña charla... nada! ¡GROSERO! Luego viene a mí con una máquina de tarjetas para el pago. Esto es un poco extraño para mí pagar por adelantado por cada bebida. En el mundo normal, normalmente pagamos por todo al final. Como no me esperaba esto, simplemente le pregunté “¿Necesitamos pagar por cada bebida por adelantado?” Su respuesta: “Sí, no estás en Estados Unidos” ¡GROSERO! A continuación, estoy sentado en el mostrador del bar y quiero un segundo trago. El camarero está parado al otro lado del mostrador del bar y hablando con alguien. Lo llamo desde mi asiento, él me responde gritando que “NO SOY TU PERRO A QUIEN PUEDES LLAMAR CON LA MANO ALZADA” Simplemente había llamado “¡Disculpe!” y había levantado la mano mientras lo llamaba como lo hacemos en el mundo normal. Su reacción hizo que todo el ambiente en el mostrador del bar fuera muy tenso. Algunos chicos locales ya estaban borrachos y comenzaron a hacer comentarios desagradables sobre cómo necesito ser respetuoso, etc. Estaba con dos amigas y no quería que la situación se volviera desagradable. Tuve que caminar hasta estos lugareños y explicarles que no quería ser grosero. A su vez, recibí una lección de etiqueta de estos borrachos capullos sobre cómo tratar a un camarero. De todos modos, la noche se arruinó y decidí irme. Mientras me iba, estaba hablando con uno de los otros camareros y le di una opinión de que están en la industria de la hospitalidad. Gente de muchas culturas diferentes visita Edimburgo y deberían estar un poco más relajados con ellos. No pueden esperar que todos conozcan las costumbres locales en un día. Su respuesta: “F*** HOSPITALIDAD”. No estoy seguro de si fue racismo en juego (soy indio) o generalmente son así, pero fue humillante. Ir a este lugar ha sido la peor decisión en una ciudad por lo demás hermosa llena de gente increíble. No volveré nunca más.

I had a delightful visit to the Royal Mile Tavern! The food was excellent, especially the Deep-Fried Mars Bar, which was an absolute treat. The prices were reasonable, and I spent around £10–20 per person, which felt like great value for the quality. The atmosphere was cozy and inviting, with lovely decor that captured the charm of the area. The service was friendly and attentive, though there’s a bit of room for improvement in speed. Overall, it’s a great spot for traditional dishes and a unique dining experience. Highly recommend!

Very friendly staff, made you feel very welcome. Will be back when we visit again next December. We all tried the burgers, but we all had a different one, they were very tasty my husband enjoyed his sweet potato fries that he had with his as we were given a choice. Thankyou for your hospitality .

Nice place to stop in, friendly staff, and the food was nice, though the Scotch Egg and the mains Chicken and Haggis weren't very hot/warm when they were served, and the Chips whilst nice and fresh lacked any real crunch. WiFi available if you register, which was useful because our phone data was pretty bad in this area. Nice atmosphere with lots of interesting bar decorations.

Welcomed into the bar by knowledgeable friendly fella who made us feel very welcome. Menus for food and drinks were prompt and he made good recommendations. The food was excellent the only reason i gave 4 instead of 5 is mine the pie and mash was warm mentioned this to the floor staff it was whisked away with apologies and when it returned was piping hot my wife had the pepper soup and that was delicious as well. Friendly great service attention to detail would recommend. We will visit again when we return to Edinburgh

Stopped in for a bite to eat whilst exploring the streets of Edinburgh. Had a lovely Mulled Wine, Tomato soup and Haggis with Neeps and Tatties. Lovely inviting atmosphere and friendly staff!

On our first day in Edinburgh it was quite hard to find a nice spot to have a quick drink and bite. Here we were welcomed and helped immediately. The fish and chips were amazing. Huge piece of haddock and good amount of chips along with the standard peas. The drinks were good and we left with a filled stomach! Cheers!

Arreglé un grupo de amigos para visitar la taberna Royal Mile el domingo por la noche para disfrutar de la cena, bebidas y música como celebración por los 60 años de mi amigo. Desafortunadamente, a pesar de que llamé dos veces para confirmar mis datos de reserva, no se había registrado en su sistema, así que llegamos a las 8 pm para que nos dijeran que no había reserva y la cocina estaba a punto de cerrar! Sin embargo... dos miembros del personal, Lucy y Josh, fueron más allá para resolver la situación. Rápidamente hablaron con el personal de la cocina, pusieron una mesa para la cena, reservaron una mesa en la zona principal para las bebidas, y se inclinaron hacia atrás para cuidar de nosotros toda la noche. Gracias a sus increíbles esfuerzos lo pasamos fabulosamente. La comida era excelente, la banda (Roadhouse) era brillante, y el ambiente era fantástico. Recomendaría encarecidamente este pub y sin duda volvería en mi próxima visita a Edimburgo. Gracias especiales Josh y Lucy, ambos hicieron de nuestra noche un gran éxito.

Recently visited Edimburgh from Mexico, found The Royal Mile Tavern one rainy evening and pretty soon it became my very favourite pub in the City, came back to it every day during my stay and the very knowlegdable staff taught me A LOT about single malt scotch whisky, especially Oli. The lovely Emily is also the Highlight of the Tavern with her gorgeous smile and eyelashes 😍!!

El ambiente era bastante fresco y sin duda vale la pena un pop in para echar un vistazo a su alrededor. No paramos por comida, pero lo que vimos saliendo a las mesas se veía encantador, más tarde nos arrepentimos de nuestra elección de no parar por comida, ya que el lugar que habíamos reservado no era tan genial para ser honestos ... . Really 5 stars, the food we had was great and really tasty, we really enjoyed the dinner, the service was smooth and very polite, they kept the glasses full and asked if everything was to your liking. We will definitely come back

Fuimos a comer y pedimos dos hamburguesas. Cuando se sentaron a la mesa solo había uno. Señalamos que habíamos ordenado que se les dijera a dos oh hay un poco de espera en el otro y nos fuimos. Aparte de tener que comer por separado no trajeron ningún condimento. Tuve que preguntar cuándo conseguí mi hamburguesa. Cuando pedimos la cuenta, el camarero se paró al final y nos dijo cuánto era sin darnos la cuenta. Pagamos e incluso dejamos una propina que yo no tendría, él puso la cuenta en el lado opuesto de la mesa. Cuando mi esposo miró la factura, ya se había agregado un cargo por servicio a la factura. Decepcionado en nuestra visita.

Had a great time at the Royal Mile Tavern! We stopped in for a drink and loved the lively, welcoming atmosphere. The pub has a great vibe—perfect for relaxing and enjoying a drink with friends. The staff was friendly, and the overall experience was fantastic. Definitely a spot I’d recommend for anyone looking for good drinks and a fun, laid-back atmosphere!

Closed! A waitress told us there was a fire. Now it doesn't even have a floor (as you can sort-of see in the pictures). (I gave it 5 stars for past effort and future wishes. Plus it was interesting to look in the window and see the charred remains of notices on the wall).

Fuimos sólo para el desayuno, pero de quedarnos más dìas seguramente hubiéramos vuelto. La ambientación, la amabilidad y por supuesto el menú, hicieron de nuestra experiencia un momento muy agradable.

We had all day to explore Edinburgh so after our castle tour we strolled down the Royal Mile looking for a great place to eat. So many choices and we opted to try the Royal Mile tavern. It was just filling up with lunch crowd. Although short staffed, the bartender managed to keep all the tables hoppin. I got a very yummy bangers and mash. My wife got chicken pot pie which was good, but after I gave her a bite of my lunch, she wished she got the bangers and mash. Overall a nice place to eat.
