Looking for somewhere to have an evening meal. 2 of us and dog. Asked at bar if they allowed dogs and they have 5 tables in the bar where dogs are allowed but not in the main dining area which is perfectly understandable. Booked a table for that evening, glad we did as it was busy when we arrived and walk ins were being turned away as they were full. (Wednesday evening)As tables became available walk ins were catered for. We had Cullen skink for starters which was very tasty. For mains we both had the pork fillet with black pudding, beetroot and black pudding mashed potatoes. Not something we normally have but it was very well presented and tasted delicious. Service was good. Highly recommended

Our two rooms were small, but quite well equipped and clean. We had two nights in Room 11: small, but with lovely sea views. We were then moved to Room 10: tiny opaque window, no view. The breakfasts were quite good. Staff are very pleasant, especially the lovely Jill. DO avoid the unpleasant owner, Gregor.

We stayed in the hotel for 2 nights. 2 adults and 1 toddler. It did exactly what we needed. The rooms were clean and the beds were comfy. If I was nitpicking the carpet could do with replacing. The cleaning staff were very helpful and nice. We had breakfast there both mornings and the food was lovely. They let you build your own cooked breakfast essentially and looked after our 18 month old who decided he didn’t want his porridge and just replaced it with something else free of charge. We also ate there in the evening with the friend we were visiting and the food was tremendous. Table of 7 so it could have gone either way! If you are looking for fancy this isn’t for you but if you are looking for reasonable price and a decent nice sleep with friendly staff and decent food then you can’t go wrong

Don’t go there. We went there today 10/07 after a recommendation by someone in town. We were heading to my mother -in- law’s house in Aberdeen but we decided to have dinner first. We asked for a fish and chips. A young adult brought us our meals. I noticed the chips are burned and complained with him. He just ignored my complaint and said the potatoes are good inside. After 5 minutes two ladies sitting by our side got their meals with beautiful fries. He returned to pick the empty plates when we finished and asked if we enjoyed the meal. I didn’t eat the fries of course and said to him that the fries were burned as I said before. He ignored me and my partner for the second time and didn’t even bother to apologise.

We arrived with our two dogs to have food. The bar was very busy but did not reflect the waiting time for food. I ordered the beef and ale pie while my husband had the burger. Both were demolished, and the dogs even got a sausage from the waitress. Lovely bar!

Not sure why the Stella has gone flat but someone said it was to save money on gas, used to be a lovely pint The rest of our visit was as expected, great food, lovely staff and comfortable seating where everything is kept clean and I hope they get the Stella sorted We had three meals here over long weekend, and our only gripe was the flat beer We will be back, fingers crossed they sort it

Had an amazing meal this evening at Bar 44. I had King Prawn and Chorizo Linguine. It was incredibly tasty and a generous portion. My husband had Roast Brisket and he said it was the best roast he’s ever had. Succulent beef and very good gravy. To drink we had Guinness as it’s St Patrick’s day. Very good value for money and highly recommend a visit if you’re in Stonehaven.

Went in past last week for a few drinks and a meal, very lively pub and the meal was excellent with good size portions, staff was very nice too.

We were recommended to come here and we thought we would check it out. The service was really good, staff was friendly and kids are welcome. You get a lot for your money. Will definitely be coming back 👍👍👍

I eat out often and rarely do I write reviews. I think it's because it either has to be catastrophic or stand-out for me to feel it warrants the time and energy. I was in Stonehaven for one night during a work trip. The weather was pretty baltic and didn't quite inspire a walk for 10 minutes along the seafront in bracing wind and treacherous, icy conditions. So, I looked for something near to my bed and breakfast and came across Number 44 Hotel and Bar. I must admit I wasn't sure what to expect further to the mixed reviews. The greeting I got however was welcoming and friendly. Granted the interior could use a bit of updating - but what place can't - particularly after Covid and so many businesses simply trying to stay open, nevermind worrying about new soft furnishings and wallpaper. I ordered the cullen skink soup and chimicurri hanger steak with rocket & vine tomates served with fries. The soup came with a piece of toasted sourdough and it was hot, flavoursome and creamy - everything it should be. It was the steak that I had to write about. I have had steak rececntly in Edinburgh twice at purported steak houses - one being Chophouse and the other being the Hawksmoor. This steak topped them both. It was charred brilliantly on the outside perfectly medium rare on the inside with a lovely chimiccuri topping with the exact right balance of flavours of garlic, olive oil, red wine vinegar etc. I also had the added bonus of some lovely mushrooms which worked well with it. The steak wasn't fatty and the charred outside was delicious. Getting a medium rare steak right is not an easy feat for many and the chef nailed it! Yes, I would have preferred hassleback potates or hand cut chips with it, but with a steak that good I wasn't bothered about the fries. Plus, that's a preference. The fries were crisp and hot and for fries lovers would have been spot on as well. I don't know if this was a one off, but I can say I really enjoyed that meal and hats off to you! The service was also attentive and polite. All I can say is I wish I had space for dessert. :) If I ever come back to Stonehaven I will be popping in again.

Food was good - made a poor choice for my main - nothing wrong with food except excessive amount of veg with heavy sauce (chilli beef salad) however rest of meal was lovely - scallops & goats cheese/beetroot as starters, other main was chicken with pepper sauce & dessert was mixed berries & sticky toffee - yum yum x service was very attentive.

This is the 3rd time we've been here for something to eat before Stonehaven Panto. I am both mentally & physically disabled. My sensory issues are huge. So when I rang to book it, I made sure thats it was upstairs, and not in the bar. The guy who took booking, said definitely upstairs. Brilliant we thought. Not quite!!! We got there to an incredibly noisy pub only to find that we weren't booked upstairs. It was a private booking upstairs. So by the point as wasn't a happy bunny. Then the brought out the menu. It was upstairs menu but eating in a noisy pub. Complete with same prices. I'm not good at changes, I really was unsure what to do, but I thought let's just stay here That was a huge mistake. I ordered the chicken breast on the bone and hubby had the pie. After about 20 minutes our food arrived. And there was my sparrow! Not a chicken breast on the bone! From my knowledge of chicken breasts, the bone was probably from the wing. We've all had chicken breasts on bones. That was not the breast bone! The plate was starved of food. Hubby got the pie. A decent amount of food. But the bottom of the pie was raw pastry! Shocking! A soggy bottom is not appreciated in 2023. Over £37 Inc pint of soft and a hot chocolate!

I have been here on a few occasions and never been disappointed until my self and several members of my family came for a special birthday. The food was cold the service was terrible. We had to wait for about 20 minutes for drinks and had to ask several times for food that was missing .

I went for my breakfast here last week the breakfast was absolutely utterly humming the service was rotten staff walking about with faces like skelped bums! Waited 30 minutes for breakfast there was flies all over the window sill where we were sitting. And don’t even get me started on the the filthyness of the toilets. Will never be back ✌️

What a lovely place. Located on the beach. We had a full glass window that slid open giving the fantastic view and sound of the sea. Delicious food and wonderful service

Stayed here for 3 nights. Room was small but clean. Mattress has seen better days could feel the springs. Breakfast on first two days was a shambles served by a unpleasant and rude girl. Was told to sit anywhere when we arrived never told us where to get coffee / fruit juice. When she came to ask what we wanted I said we needed a menu as she had not given us one. She returned and throw it down on table. When she came back for order I did say there was no need for that. Breakfast takes about 40/ 50 min to be served toast is put on the breakfast plate instead of a toast rack we got fried bread instead of tatie scone as they had ran out of them, we only new this as she informed another table beside us.fruit juice was not refilled. Saturday breakfast was different served by two polite girls efficiently also was surprised that we got two sausages and two pieces of bacon yet the other days they were only one of each and only waited about 30 min. Also we had no wi fi in our room did speak to a lady and she did come and have a look but couldn’t help us did say they had put a booster box in. Very annoying not having wi fi especially as they advertise wi fi in every room.

What a lovely place to eat, I was staying in the town for a few day and was recommended this place, food great staff great, will be back next time I’m in Stonehaven.

After a lovely afternoon walking around the boardwalk and harbour of stonehaven ,we decided to go for a meal and was recommended number 44 hotel and bar, it was a lovely setting, we all had Aberdeen Angus steak burgers, they were lovely with salad and chips , it definitely finished off the day in a lovely area

Stayed here for a night passing through Stonehaven on our motorcycle trip. Booked in by a very pleasant lady who took us through times for dinner and breakfast and made us most welcome. Our room was neat and today with a bride of the ocean and the beach. Dinner was great I had the Messy Nachos and the locally caught Haddock as a main course, lovely bottle of Malbec and not at a crazy price. We weee Ed Ed by a lovely young girl who totally got my sense of humour, turns out it was a mother and daughter duo working tonight. Bar was really busy and vibrant, breakfast in the morning was excellent. Sorry I didn’t catch our hosts names but thank you so much for looking after us and for putting up with my crazy jokes.

Nice hotel and the staff were amazing. Arrived 15 mins before food finished but they accommodate me, food was really good and breakfast was included, which was also really good. Can't fault it. 30 seconds from the beach too

Saturday lunchtime during the folk festival weekend. Good job we booked, place was packed. Good choices on the menu, vegetarian options available. Food was excellent, presentation very good, portions generous. We all enjoyed our meal. Definitely recommend the sticky toffee pudding! Staff super friendly and excellent service. Not overly priced. Look forward to returning.

We arrived in the evening (of the mens Wimbledon Final) without a reservation. When we asked if it was possible to have a table (despite been rushed off their feet) the waitress went away to enquire and came back and said providing we were finished by 7:45 we could have a table. Drinks, food (which was hot and arrived quickly); service were excellent and a bonus was eating the meal watching the mens final (my wife was very happy!). Would definitely recommend and return again.
