The Royal Golf Club Porthcawl in Bridgend

I booked to play on my own while on holiday in the area. The service in the Pro Shop was great but in the clubhouse it was sadly lacking, not even a “Hello”. The food was good and the views superb. For an elite club, the fact visitors have to buy course guides, etc was a bit of a surprise. I was at Royal Aberdeen two weeks ago and was given a nice valuables bag with a course guide, tees, pencil and a pitch mark repairer. It isn’t the end of the world to not have this but it would have been nice to have a memento.

If a table with a view of the golf course and beach is where you wish to start your day then this is the place, wonderful breakfast and attentive staff.

I was expecting a howling gale - we played in Mediterranean sunshine with the lightest breeze. Wonderful, challenging course - a real test of golf. We had a very friendly welcome with excellent bacon sandwiches served by the wonderful staff. The clubhouse is a warren of interesting rooms with a huge outside space.

Comedor independiente con vistas fenomenales por la primera calle. Buen desayuno. Personal encantador y acogedor. Buena relación calidad-precio.

De nuevo después de jugar un montón de golf esto es algo que debe hacer justo en la costa con impresionantes vistas. El personal es amable y la casa club antiguo y lleno de recuerdos. La comida está bien pero será sólo el golf que venía para 11/10. Agujeros largos verdes y un montón de viento engañosa. Bei der Buchung des Greenfees war automatisch ein Essen im Club Restaurant enthalten. Im Restaurant angekommen, zeigte uns ein Schild mit unserem Namen, dass wir bereits erwartet wurde. Die Dame hinter der Theke war jedoch über nichts informiert. Da die Küche lt. Info des Office um 15.00 Uhr bereits geschlossen hatte, erhielten wir einige kalte vorbereitete Sandwiches. Zudem wurde uns eine Schüssel hingestellt in die eiligste eine Tüte Chips entleert wurde. Das war es. Unsere Bitte nach Getränke an der Theke, die wir selbstverständlich auch bezahlen wollten, wurde geflissentlich mehrfach übersehen.

The course was fantastic and in a great shape even after a rough winter. The staff were friendly and helpful and I will definitely be returning after the Senior Open this year
