Gone downhill this pub, things not on the menu and not crossed off. Then when food comes, chips uncooked. I told the bar staff, she said not all the chips were uncooked. I said none should of been uncooked. She had no customer service skills either. Won't be coming back or recommending this place Georgia Hansom wasn't even in there, the place was dead, I left my meal totally, nice try getting a mate to put you a false message on. Sad place this is!!! Grow up and accept constructive criticism And killed the atmosphere there was no atmosphere to start with it was dead lol.

Room stank of damp. Mould on walls. Shower and bathroom disgusting, dirty, mouldy.

A nice old-fashioned cozy family hotel.

I had the steak, worst steak I've ever seen in my life, Totally dried out, burnt to charcoal on one side. Chips burnt and soaked through with fat, it was terrible! Wife had scampi, looked like it came out of a pound bag from island. Such a shame because it used to be a good eating hole. I absolutely will not go back again!

Was OK, by the time we arrived they had run out of a lot of menu options. Food that we had was OK

We were cold and we had 3/4 hour to wait for meal, although we were the only people there.

Had a lovely meal today with friends and family. Lovely, friendly pub with awesome food. Bartender and kitchen were very helpful, and accommodated our menu requests. Steak was cooked perfectly. Would highly recommend.

Just been here and had the steak pie with vegetables and mash potatoes. Got to say I never leave reviews but in this case I have too. wow it was amazing homemade steak pie.

Visited a few times. The food was excellent as was the service. The cleanliness of the bar and toilets was beyond reproach. Highly recommended.

Called in on the way to a show and after parking in the large car park over the road with 2 caravans. Car park was empty!! a very rude woman behind the bar after ordering drinks and food told us we had to get out as they had a booking for 2pm. We then drove past about 3pm ...Car park was still empty. Customer service at its worst !! Good that they can afford to turn people away from an empty pub 😂😂

You really can't knock this place for portion sizes! The creamy garlic mushroom starter with cheesy 'croutons' was practically a main meal with loads of mushrooms in a bucketful of sauce. The slices of french bread with melted cheese would be croutons for a giant!. Main courses are more than substantial. I asked for the vegetarian pie and was presented with homemade pastry stuffed full of cabbage, broccoli, mushrooms, peppers and cauliflower served with chunky chips and lashings of tasty gravy. If you are really hungry, order the panko chicken! More than half of this ended up in a doggy bag.

Sunday lunch was brilliant. Fresh battered mushrooms & homemade garlic mayo. The roast lamb was plentiful, lean and extremely tender. Didn't need a knife !!! Neither of us could manage a sweet. Staff were efficient and attentive but we're were certainly not rushed. Recommend it !!!

Best food I've had for a long time. Real old fashioned country pup. As it should be. The portion and the quality of food is just second to none. Hidden gem, friendly relaxed atmosphere. Can't wait to come again

Good service ,disappointing food, garlic mushrooms like soup, prawn tikka masala lacked flavour, the seven prawns in it had the texture of pencil erasers.

What a fabulous evening you provided for us. Excellent food and service everyone enjoyed it tremendously, especially the the lamb and beef cooked to perfection. More than enough food for everyone, 17 people catered for, fantastic service A really lovely place to stay also a very nice comfortable room and an excellent breakfast to look forward to. Had lunch here, amazing, the chips were home made and cooked to perfection, the steak pie was brimming with large cubes of lean beef that just melted in your mouth, served with chips and fresh veg, my friend had the vegetarian quiche, also amazing! Will be going back regularly, what a find! Warning, the portions are massive!

A went here for food blown away by the amount on our plate but best of all was the taste tickled every taste bud it was outstanding the people who own this place couldn't off been a more brilliant friendly people even the locals were nice definitely be returning and you can have a room here to stay

Staying overnight here Saturday night. Lovely little pub, nice and comfy cosy rooms. Family run and so so friendly. Would recommend to anyone. Thank you for your hospitality.

Had Sunday lunch here for the 1st time it was ok but the mash was instant mash personally this is a no no for me gravy could of been more flavoursome bit watery but starter and dessert was spot on.

Always a good place to eat and drink. Lovely outside area too. Nice rooms which are at the back of the pub and are not part of the main building.

Fantastic querky place! Great welcoming staff, owner was very kind in cooking me fish and chips outside of normal food hours at after a long day at 21.30hrs checkin! Beer was excellent! Room was cosey and more than what I was expecting. Breakfast was on point! Thanks all! Will definitely 100% stay again and highly recommend!

A good local pub with decent pub grub and big portions! There are 3 rooms at the back, separate from the main building, where you can stay. They are fairly spacious, very clean with big bathrooms. I would stay here again.

Fantastic little gem . There are 3 chalets at the rear of the pub away from the noise of the road and pub , so very quiet. Very clean, and spacious, we had the family room , bed comfortable , lovely shower & bathroom, a room with a cot wardrobe, and Chester drawers , and out door space with table & chairs which was a lovely bonus. Land lady is very friendly , kind & welcoming. Pub & restaurant superb, food delicious . Breakfast very tasty. Would recommend a stay here !!

Brilliant food brilliant service ,3 courses for £7 and that's not a pensioners special it's the set menu with lots of choices

Having lived a few miles away for a number of years, we felt it was time to give The Old royal George a try for sunday lunch and we were not disappointed, we all had the silverside roast which was beautifully cooked and so tender it was falling apart off the fork, their mashed potato was to me, absolutely perfect, the Yorkshire pud was on the mark too, wasn't too keen on the roast potatoes but the other veg was spot on. The level of service is comparable to some of the high end restaurants I've been to which in a village pub is excellent news, the building itself appears to have been an old coaching inn which has been added to and added to over the years, this is reflected in the fact that the pub is far deeper off the road than the roadside frontage hints at. Judging by the high standard of food and that they also do Bed and Breakfast from £65/night, this lovely pub on the road between Leeming Bar and Northallerton would be an ideal base from which to explore both the North Yorkshire moors and the northern pennines area of outstanding natural beauty.

The food is amazing!!! Jamie makes a fabulous meal that you will instantly love and need a nap to recover from 😉 The steak & ale pie is so delicious, gravy is plentiful (make use of the napkins), and the chips are fantastic. The sunday lunch is 'The Best', the breakfasts are full of good quality meat, the bar is fully stocked, and the ambience is spot on. If you have been for a walk in the area, shopped in town or live by, this is definitely a place that should be on your radar. One if my all-time favorite places to eat! And they do a pub quiz too!! No pictures available as I dived straight into my food, but trust me - it is soooooo worth a visit!

Absolutely BEAUTIFUL, proper Yorkshire portions, spine-tinglingly succulent food, amazing flavours...Jamie is the chef to beat in North Yorkshire...the family are fab too, thank you again!!

Stayed here overnight during iur visit to the Dales. It was just close enough. The pub was nice with friendly staff and good food. Room was clean and comfortable. Overall, good value for money. Great pie!

Great food great service. The pub is very welcoming with a great variety on the menu. There are plenty draught lagers, ciders and some great real ales.

Went here as we needed somewhere open on a Monday evening and which was near to Northallerton Station. Great food and friendly atmosphere. Particularly recommend the home made pies and the home made ice cream. Would thoroughly recommend.

Big menu, plenty to choose from. Portion sizes are big too. My brother and I ate here a couple of months ago and enjoyed it so much we took our parents for a meal here for their Christmas present. Highly recommend

A small friendly pub serving food. A good choice on the menu. No starters or puddings but I think they would be available if requested. Portions are large and well cooked. There is a restaurant but ate in the small snug. The life tv is in a separate bar. Rooms are available.

Went for lunch yesterday. The food was amazing. I had the best stake pie I have ever tasted. The honey and lavender cheesecake was delicious. We also go for a Sunday lunch sometimes, nice big homemade Yorkshire pudding and the meat just falls apart. It's family run and all the staff there make you feel welcome and are so friendly. One of my favourite places xxx
