After a nice walk it was great to find the Royal George. A bit of a grand title for this tired pub! Unexpected excellent fish and chip all washed down with a lovely local pint, Gone Fishing. Definitely a recommended stop!

A shabby and run down pub which does not do justice to a magnificent building with a great deal of possibility. Dull, dark interior, staff unhelpful almost rude staff. Dogs not allowed and food disappointing. A pub which should be the thriving heart of the village is a decrepit and rather miserable old lady.

My wife and I wanted to celebrate our 31st anniversary with a local meal out. Nice choice on the menu. Really enjoyed our meal, we both had the lamb chops. Staff & venue has all in place for the covid situation, masks, track & trace, sanitizer etc. Beer is well kept, had a couple of pints of Green King IPA. Very welcoming and pleasant atmosphere. Would recommend.

We have passed many times and finally popped in for lunch. Very well set out for safety in this unusual situation. Warm welcome and a good range of drinks on tap. The menu is very good with excellent, fresh, fish. After a difficult choice, so we need to return to try other dishes, I had chicken and husband had prawns with noodles. Both cooked fresh, and both delicious. The portions were very good size, beautifully cooked and we can highly recommend.

The food was great, the prices were good, the hosts were most welcoming. One to try again. A lovely destination in these troubled times.

Visited with friends for lunch, then again for Quiz Night in mid-November. Had the fried skate, chips, and peas for lunch. Huge portion of skate. Well-prepared. Crispy, but tender fish. Chips were crisp vs. mushy. Peas mushy vs. crisp. Really nicely done. The chef definitely takes his/her food seriously. Several Real Ales on draught. A couple of lagers and Aspalls Cyder on offer, as well. Appears to be a family-run pub. Friendly service with plenty of locals about. Quiz Night was thoroughly enjoyable. Had a burger at "half time" that was tasty, but not overly impressive to look at. I'd gladly pay them another visit. Recommended.

Decided to walk to the nursery from Stanton, and what a lovely day was made out of it! We stopped at the cafe to have lunch, and the food was lovely. Nothing fancy, but was warming and fueling after our walk. The staff were lovely, and the atmosphere was relaxed and welcoming. We were able to do some crocheting, and ended up staying until close! Would definitely like to come back again!
