The Royal China in New Forest

Lovely service great food. The staff were extremely attentive without being in our face. They took a birthday cake for after the meal and came out singing Happy Birthday at the end of the meal. Will definitely be going back. The music is on a short cycle but we won’t worry about that.

We had a takeaway, it was superb. Happy to have one again anytime! Fast, efficient and great. Top marks.

Disappointing. Ordered to take away, spent nearly £118 to find when got home few items were not given to us. The food itself is expensive which to miss out on food items which have been paid for takes the p.

Food is good but always check and review the bill before paying! Got so confused with how they presented the receipt and ended up paying for orders that we didn’t even ordered. Nobody cared to help us sort things out.

4 of us ate here tonight as we are staying in the premier inn around the corner. Great selection of food on the menu, staff are very friendly, helpful and chatty. Our food was absolutely outstanding! Would definitely return next time we are on the island. Highly recommended.

The Royal China is the best chinese restaurant I've ever eaten in and that includes London and Hong Kong! Immaculate decor and toilets too. Just WOW!

Happened to be walking by and looked in the window and the place looked inviting so we went it for some food. Really glad we did as the food was excellent and good value going on today's prices. Great atmosphere if you are taking a friend out to dinner and tha menu was varied and offered good value for money for what was listed. Highly recommended.

Had a nice Chinese authentic food here after a long time, ordered hot and sour soup here, and it is not a great thing(not taste ).just left that on the table, however, staff here understood us and offered a different soup immediately 😀 they are so kind

Fantastic first visit to this beautiful, family run restaurant. My wife and I are vegan and the owner talked us through the menu so that we could choose a full, delicious meal.

The family that runs the place is kind and gives top customer service. We visited a week ago and again last night to find d they remembered us and sat us where we were before for our comfort. I loved this restaurant...the atmosphere was mello and relaxing and OMG, the food was incredible! It's the first time I wanted to try different items and felt like I didn't need to stick with what was safe. The only problem I found with this visit is the fact that I live more than 3 hours away and can't order via helicopter. It is truly that tasty. Enjoy if you get to Sandown, Isle of Wight!

We had a takeaway absolutely beautiful pancake rolls huge and full of meat. Would use this restaurant for a takeaway. Highly recommended

Awesome Chinese restaurant in sandown. Food was delicious, and we tried alot of it, prawn toast, crispy seaweed, duck Cantonese style, crispy beef, egg fried rice, noodles, spring rolls, honestly it was all perfect. There is a review on here from someone from China saying it's not authentic, that's like someone from India trying an Indian restaurant here and complaining it's not authentic, it's tailored to the locality, slightly harsh. Service was excellent, atmosphere was nice and relaxed

This is the no1 Chinese restaurant to visit while on the IOW great food great service and a great place to be Sandown.

Nice Chinese restaurant with beautiful ambience and very polite staff. Food is overall nice - we had chicken fried noodles (they were fantastic), chicken satay on skewers were also great and chicken & sweet corn soup was yummy (worth trying). Vegetable spring rolls are okay (they were a bit too oily), and sweet & sour chicken was also okay. But overall food was very good, and the staff is again to be mentioned, very polite. Parking wise: there's ample roadside parking during night but you might want to use nearby council car park during daytime as roadside parking is very busy.

This restaurant is a good choice if you're in Sandown and you're looking for something different than burgers, pasta, and pizza. We loved our choices.

The atmosphere is great ..go have a glass of water if that's what you are after . Average service but food is Terrible. Chilli beef , Singapore fried rice were that bad it had to be chucked away.. pork sezhwan was average Visit at your own risk.

We ordered a beef fry, mapo toufu and a Chinese leafs and one Singapore noodle, and one dumpling soup and a beer. It costs £70+. Food is everage but the service is good. Just the price is bit too expensive than we thought.

Can’t believe all the times We’v passed this place and haven’t been in. What a gem! Absolutely lovely, thoroughly enjoyed our meal, food was perfect, very friendly staff, lovely atmosphere. Back over the island again soon will definitely be paying the Royal China a visit. Can’t wait ☺️👍

老外特供中餐，中国人退退退。 Typical “Chinese” restaurant for foreigners. Service was good and Provided me and my friend with chopsticks, but should have told the chef to cook in the real Chinese way😭I ordered Gongbao chicken and pepper beef, and think no restaurant would make these wrong, but I was so naive. I didn't want to waste the food so washed the food in a bowl of tape water then swallow it. However all the foreigners sitting around were happy with their food.

Had a takeaway tonight. 1st time we have used Royal China. Very prompt service, great food, and reasonably priced. Worth the travel from Ryde to get it.

Very friendly service and helpful. Good was average. There were black bits in ky wonton soup which I imagine were from the pan used to cook the meal.

Used to have delivery but not anymore and it's difficult for me to collect it sometimes as so only use Royal China in an emergency

We had a lovely Chinese meal here and picked it because we had been on the island a long time ago. The food is very good as is the service. The restraunt is vey popular but as it is in the high street there is no parking. However I would recommend it.

Been here thrice on two trips to IoW. The food is excellent, the decor is beautiful, and staff is friendly. The only thing you must be aware of is that they require orders of atleast GBP 12 per person!

Food great. Service a little slow. Card machine not working. Cash only..fortunately a cash machine across the road but if out of service its not so great to be told after you have eaten. Disability access and disability toilet on ground floor. On street parking and children allowed. Good decoration. They also sell take out. I like the kungpo beancurd. Good vegetarian selection.

What a fantastic restaurant. Very clean and friendly. Wheelchair accessible and and accessible toilet as well. Great food, we had Set Menu A and there was plenty of food for both of us. We would definitely recommend here and will be back next time we are on the Island.

Worst service! Lady and the main Manager or owner is rude! Did reservation on call at 5pm for 9pm sitting but he gave seats to people who didn’t reserve. Also we got seat after 10mins and took order after 40mins and was not cooperative! He told him we don’t want to order at the end and he was fine us leaving and didn’t even bother to apologise! Worst restaurant in Isle of Wight and encountered racism at this place.

Old lady staff too rude. Had to cancel my order after seeing her rude behaviour.

The food was delicious and the staff were very friendly. The only thing was that, for me, their 'very spicy' was really mild. Overall, the restaurant was very nice and had a good, child friendly environment.

Tried to dine here last night, arrived at 7pm with tables free told to come back at 8pm to then be given a note pad and pen and write down what we wanted to eat, no drinks menu. Walked out at 8.20pm as no one came over to us. I feel only busy due to being the only sit down in the area

Lovely place, warm friendly staff and a good menu. Staff are attentive but not crowding. We've been a couple of times, as we're not local, holidaying and always had a good evening. Sadly this time the food did not agree with me and a night of D&V was had leaving me as you can imagine feeling poorly. Have to say, a bit apprehensive about going back and disappointed after prev good experience.

Got a delivery the other day it was chicken curry egg fried rice... it was rotten curry sauce was just grease... the chicken and mushrooms n onions wir swimming in grease.. I should have got my money back... try ko sing in lake or Hong-Kong city in shanklin much better

Just 2 mins walking from the Sandown beach, this restaurant is very well decorated and serves authentic chinese food. We had dinner on both the days of our stay at Sandown. Almost all the dishes that we ordered were great in taste except for one of the veg side dish. The couple who runs the place are nice and friendly. Taking a star off as we were not served water on our 1st visit and one of the waitress were rude when asked for a kids plate and got a bowl instead.

Lovely caring and friendly service, clean and fresh, delicious food. We were in there eating for over an hour.

Had a meal in there tonight absolutely Devine great service great food very good price I would highly recommend going there.

It looked very promising but we were disappointed with the food quality on our takeaway. My son and I ordered 2 Singapore noodles, a salt and chilli squid and sweet and sour chicken balls. The noodles lacked any ingredients except noodles, the squid was coated, but was wet, not crispy on the outside and lacked chilli. The sweet and sour sauce was thin and runny, like a red water.

What a joke! Very little food with high prices. He will recommend you some food that are not in the menu and charge you at unreasonable price. It’s incredible for two people have a meal for nearly one hundred ponds!

Expensive and small portions compared to a takeaway. Probably priced as its in a tourist spot and you get to dine in.. If you are with family, love Chinese and want to spend quality time with family then this place is worth the visit.

We found this place in 2018 and food was lovely, so we marked it on our "definitely revisit list" Just visited the place on our recent isle of wight trip and we really enjoyed it. Food was excellent and our expectations were not let down. Very friendly and polite service.

We made a last minute reservation, the gentleman confirmed a table straight away. We were duly seated when we arrived. The staff are extremely professional and very family friendly. Every dish we ordered came out deliciously and on time. The food was top notch and the dinner was a lovely end to our Easter break. The gentleman even switched on additional lights so we could take pictures.
