We ordered a takeaway whilst on holiday in the area. It took an age to prepare and they forgot our rice. They offered to deliver it as we were stay 10 minutes away and after waiting for an hour and a half we had decided to give up. When I rang to tell them not to bother delivering the rice I asked them to refund us. As we were on holiday we had nothing to use as a substitute so wasted the entire meal. They promised to refund us but 4 days later we are still waiting.

Decided to try it for a sit in meal we found the food to be okay but unfortunately the service was terrible Had to ask for glass to be changed as it had something hanging from the rim no idea what, when our poppadoms and chutneys arrived we had to ask for plates to eat them from,the same think happened when our starters arrived the waiter just walked of leaving us with plates again. Next it was our main course we got plates this time but unfortunately no cutlery so we had to lift it from another table. The interior of the restaurant is also very run down Got the impression they mainly deal in takeaway as we were the only people having a sit in meal, Sorry won’t be back

Lovely restaurant staff don’t hurry you into ordering food , fantastic menu at reasonable prices , they don’t sell wine but you can bring your own and no corkage charge , have sampled alot of dishes , starters , mains and desserts every dish really well seasoned and freshly cooked chef will even make your meal hotter if you ask , staff very welcoming and polite , they were giving 30% discount on dine in but this has finished but still 20% discount on take away meals , we as a family have visited 5 times and we have enjoyed our meals each time trying different dishes every time . This is a real authentic Indian restaurant, and on our doorstep .

Excellent meal. Tasty and spicy but not too hot. Fantastic and friendly service. Very good value for money. Adherence to COVID guidance. Recommend the chili squid.

We prefer to 'sit in' when we eat Indian food and thought we'd try Royal Bawarchi which is within walking distance of our abode. First impressions on entering were positive and the cheerful waitress showed us to our table. Please note, at this time the restaurant is unlicenced, so BYOB is the order of the day. Wine glasses and a jug of water were quickly provided. As a starter we shared a few poppadoms and a selection of chutneys, onions and pickles - all very good. Poppadoms were crispy and a fine size. A look through the menu and we ordered chicken shashlik, south Indian dosa, aloo gobi and royal basmati rice. I have to say the food was pretty good - fine portion size and requisite level of spiceness for us both. Because of Covid, it's a while since we last ate out and I'm pleased to say that this place ticked all the boxes. So will we return to this restaurant. Yes, for sure. If you enjoy Indian food, it's probably the best in Musselburgh.
