Stopped at this pub on the off chance. We were greeted warmley by young barman. Ordered a chicken sandwich to share and a wine eaxh. The food arrived which we were more than happy with. Would certainly return. Food good, staff pleasant and a great atmosphere.

We booked this pub for lunch on Boxing Day via a booking app. When we turned up the pub was closed even though we a received a reminder via the booking app a day before. Whilst I can accept mistakes can happen what I cannot accept is the fact that this pub do not even bother to respond when we informed them of the problem. No idea what the food is like but with service like this you will find many better alternatives in the area where customers are taken more seriously. Don’t bother with The Rowbarge!

Excellent food, when open. Pub tends to only cater food when there are no wakes on which is not advertised. (Understand this) Perhaps employ more bar staff to cater for local clients/patrons

An attractive location with an extensive garden area. What a pity that the menu was disappointing, the food overpriced (particularly the sandwiches) and the service was extremely slow despite only a few people eating. Staffing problems in the kitchen perhaps. There are plenty of other places offering better food and much quicker service.

Always a decent lunch at the Rowbarge although I feel the menu requires an overhaul. Love the pizza's but what about pasta or salad? I know the chef is excellent, so please show me what you can do?

Nice spacious, comfortable pub. Only one real ale on and some of the keg beers were nearly £7/pint! Had Sunday lunch and the buffalo wings were well over cooked, the roast beef was also cooked to death, the roast potatoes weren’t roasted long enough to get a nice crisp, gravy like Bisto and the Yorkshire pud was far too thick and stodgy. But it was good value at £17. Service was pretty good and we did all have a nice time, it was just a pity all the food was so average. This is not a Gastro-pub!

We had family over from the US and were late to book a Sunday lunch… I saw that the Rowbarge had space and I’m be honest, I went to the there over 5 years ago and it was tatty to say the least. We were pleasantly surprised when we arrived, the place had be revamped and the staff were amazing. We had four roast dinners and there were generous servings. The staff were super friendly and helpful. Thank you very much for making our visit a good one.. I’m sure we will be back. Ps the loo’s were nice and clean too…

Ate here last night (Aug 2021) and it was excellent on so many levels. The pub is clean and inviting, the garden is clean and inviting. We sat outside given the nice weather and enjoyed the music that was playing and the garden lights. My husband had the burger and fries and I had a ham and artichoke pizza. We both thought the food was delicious. The service was wonderful. My first choice of main was not available and the bar manager offered for something to be made to my liking. I thought the service was so friendly. I will certainly be back to sample more food and enjoy this excellent pub.

Not a bad word to say I was very impressed with the food at the Rowbarge, my partner and I had burgers which were absolutely delightful they both came with skinny fries, my sister in law had a pepperoni pizza - which seemed to be stone baked and again was delicious! We all had the chocolate brownies with salted caramel ice cream this was once again very tasty. We also shared burrata salad on the side which was extremely tasty and was a very good size. All staff were wearing masks and stuck to covid rules, there were clear signs of a one way system to the toilets! Staff are very accommodating and friendly! Service was brilliant and food was served very quick. We will definitely be coming back soon and recommending to everyone we know!

Returned to this pub (formerly a favourite), after a short space of time and was extremely disappointed. There was no lunch menu as such but we were told there were three choices of sandwiches available. On consultation with the chef, the bar staff then told us there was also a choice of four or five cooked options. The attitude was very offhand and unfriendly. We also objected to towels draped over the radiators! Not acceptable. Will not be returning.

From the initial meet with the team from the Rowbarge, the communication and organisation with the management was superb. They hosted 30 people for us for our Christmas meal. We had the Christmas menu, the food was fantastic, a range of different starters, main course and pudding. The service from Louise and her team throughout the evening was faultless. They catered for our every need. I would recommend going to the Rowbarge for an event. Here's to next year. Thank you and Merry Christmas to the team at the Rowbarge.

I was looking for a room to stay overnight close to Bisley camp as I was attending a veterans shooting competition there. Great reception at the Rowbarge - nice, spacious room and I was able to dry off my cycling clothes in the room which was great. The restaurant is perfect on a summers evening and I was able to sit and enjoy fish and chips and a pint of beer in the large beer garden before retiring to the very comfortable room. Despite having lived in Woking for 13 years, I have visited The Rowbarge only twice. In close proximity to Woking Crematorium and on reading other reviews, it's not surprising that many diners are those who are pre- or post- funeral. That is inevitably going to affect ones' mood. I was also feeling pretty down, because like others, I had just been to a funeral. What I immediately enjoyed about The Rowbarge is that it is clearly independently run, provides wifi and there were plenty of corners for me to keep myself to myself and just surf the net on my phone. The art of being a good publican is knowing when customers are up for a chat at the bar or want to be left alone. I am usually a very chatty bloke, but on this occasion really did need to be left alone and was grateful to staff for reading my mood.I have mistakenly rated the food, but didn't eat on this occasion (apart from a packet of crisps!). Recommended and I hope to return on a more positive occasion.

Having booked this restaurant mainly because of it's recommended carvery,we chose this Sunday, not realising it was Mothering Sunday,a few days previous we received a phone call from Andy the owner, stating that due to the date and the amount of people requiring lunches his only option to cater for all was to have 3 sittings, ours being the first.on arrival, drinks at he bar, then shown to our table,we were shown the menu, which had more than ample choices. We had an asparagus soup for starters, very tasty, followed y the roast pork, which came with large portions of meat, then helped yourself to vegetables and gravy..exceptional value for the portion sizes.the staff coped vey well with the amount of trade the restaurant was doing, too came in hot an on time,I would like to thank Andy and team for a delicious time.

Went to the rowbarge last night with a groupon voucher entitling us to a three course meal for 2 with free flowing Prosecco for an hour for under £40, food was delicious, I would recommend the Camembert fir starter , the chicken breast in a mushroom sauce, and the sticky toffee pudding, although the other dishes looked lovely too! If you can’t get hold of a groupon voucher, the food is reasonably priced any way. We spoke to the manager who advised that he took over in November last year, we should try and support our local pubs before we lose them. It’s definitely a thumbs up from us and we will soon be booking again for the Sunday roast.

Sadly we held my Mother’s wake here yesterday as it was near to Woking Crematorium. The service was terrible and the food very disappointing. There was not enough food for the number of people we had booked for, the hot food was already out on the table when we arrived getting cold, the sandwiches were thin and all squashed together, I had to ask twice for a cup of coffee for one of our guests before finally getting it, I was promised they would provide biscuits with the tea and coffee but they didn’t, I asked for saucers for the cups to be told no one ever uses saucers so we don’t put them out ....... the list goes on! Considering they knew it was for a small wake and we had just said goodbye to my Mum, I really did not expect to be the one running around getting people drinks and asking for a coffee that hadn’t arrived while the 2 members of staff stood behind the bar chatting and ignoring us. This is a very run down place now, gloomy inside, where clearly they have no interest in providing any service or decent food - do not go there after Woking Crematorium. The final upset when we came to pay was they were going to charge us for a higher number of guests than I had booked for. I had to find an email on my phone to prove the number I had booked for. Very poor

With the travel office having made a booking for a colleague and myself he was somewhat surprised to have a piece of paper pushed under his door explaining that I wasn't staying there any more, but they had informed me of the change; they bloody well had not and still have not... My colleague texted me the new directions and I duly arrived, after a seven hour drive, to find a B&B;, above a café opposite the train station. Nobody answered the door or phone at 22:45. I had to find my own accommodation but fortunately the excellent Double Tree Woking was just around the corner. I feel incredibly disappointed by the complete failure of the most basic level of interest for the customer shown by this hotel. I'm ok with looking after myself; I am a 6'1" ex-doorman, what would have happened if it had been my other colleague; a 4'11" petite female academic? Absolutely awful service they took a booking of 17 over the phone. When we arrived the table wasn't ready so we all had a drink why we waited. Not a huge problem but should of been ready at the time booked for. Our table was three tables put together... fine but a few of the guests couldn't get their legs under the table as table legs were in the way.. very cramped.A young waitress than came over took all of our dinner choices... most were carvery with a few people choosing from the main menu. She then came over about ten minutes later saying there was no food left. They were told on the phone majority of people will be having carvery. This ruined my fathers whole birthday lunch and he wanted to leave. The manager then come over and was useless... I've worked in hospitality and honestly this place needs new management. The manager went on to say 'I'm not blaming you but you did add 3 to your table this morning'Ok... so you are blaming us and them three added wanted steak anyway so shouldn't of made a difference.Useless pub/restaurant with useless staff it's a no go ever again from any of our party. Thanks for ruining my dads birthday !!Just a quick note if anyone is reading this go to the station down the road that's where we ended up and it was lovely!

My niece had a steak which she asked for medium - it was barely shown the pan and when she asked for it to be cooked more it came back cremated, flew off the plate when she tried to get her fork in it. The pub ran out of lemonade (even though there is a shop round the corner) and when someone asked for a glass of tap water the man behind the bar said he wasn't qualified to serve it !!!Another in our party had the stroganoff and the beef was very tough. We recently moved to the area and decided to try the Rowbarge, I had the cob salad and I would advise anyone not to order it. The chicken is not fresh, the bacon was burnt and it was bland. For nearly £15 it is certainly not worth it. I had informed the staff and the response I got was "oh sorry, I will inform the chef". I submitted a form on their "contact us" page on their website, only to be ignored. I called to ask if they had received it and the response I got was "management isn't available". I go to The Rowbarge occasionally as it is a nice cycle ride along the canal and has good pub food. In the past we've had fish and chips which were a cut above normal pub offerings and especially good burgers and chips.A couple of weeks ago I went there with my cousin, who is over from the States, as I had promised her some proper pub food before she went back. It's a shame that the weather wasn't good as it's nice to sit outside, although inside is pleasant too. We all ordered handmade burgers and chips which seemed to take a lifetime to come. We got as far as asking how long they'd be as we'd long since finished our drinks. The pub was fairly busy but it wasn't heaving with customers. When the food arrived, it looked delicious. My food, however, was cold. The chips were hot but the burger was lukewarm and hard, and the chilli on top was actually cold to the touch. It had obviously sat around waiting for the chips to be cooked. My cousin and my uncle's food, however, was piping hot, chilli included. When someone came and asked if everything was OK, I said that my food was cold, and was asked if I wanted to change it. They weren't particularly apologetic or interested. I explained that, as I had waited so long and was so hungry, I'd eat it rather than wait for another meal to be cooked.I am guessing this is a one-off as it hasn't happened before, and I shall definitely go back, but it was disappointing service.

I recently ate at the Rowbarge Pub in St. Johns for a friends birthday and have to say I was nothing but impressed. I'm trying to think of a time that I've had better food in a pub and honestly nothing springs to mind. I had a salmon dish for my main and was absolutely delighted with it. It just seemed to be a touch above anything I've had in that sort of setting before - tasted fresh and was certainly more imaginative than your regular pub grub! Every member of the party was completely satisfied with the experience as a whole. I shall be returning in the future - WELL DONE. :)

I came here with a group of friends for some food and drink. I was so impressed by my specials board three course meal. The Bloody Mary Mussels were divine, the Lamb Kofta was something outta Greece and the Pana cotta... Mmm... I'll be back, that's for sure!

I have been here many times with my family and friends, it is great for families as it has a loverly pub garden decorated pleasantly with a variety of flowers and plants. On sunny days there is also a bouncy castle which keeps my neice more than occupied. I can't fault the food and my family have even booked for my sisters pre wedding meal to be held here. A loverly pub with a friendly and welcoming atmosphere!

I stayed a couple of nights at the Rowbarge but didn't eat there because frankly it seemed a bit seedy, which was very surprising considering how much it cost! The room was large and clean, but most other aspects were minimal eg tiny TV, half a bottle of handwash and no toilet roll. The adjoining room had a door from my room to it and you could hear every word spoken by the 'neighbours'.On the plus side it was fairly quiet, so I was able to sleep. I was able to park close to my room and the staff just left me 'to get on with it'.

Walked down from Knaphill for drinks and ordered a bottle of sauvignon blanc (nz) and they didn't have any. Went back to the wine list and decided on champagne instead, they didn't have any of that either!?!?!? Hilarious that th5eee were tables set up for an engagement party later on. Let's hope they didn't fancy a decent glass of something. We left and won't bother coming back, such a shame as the pub garden was lovely.

Comfortable area provided for the group. Drinks offered upon arrival. Food was a mixed hot/cold buffet and was excellent - just a bit slow being produced. Some of the group had actually gone before the food was laid out.

Nice pub, with great food. Staff friendly, helpful and knowledgeable. Not cheap but you get what you pay for. My ten and nine year old's love the bouncy castle. Only down points are, I object to be called "love" by female bar staff who are young enough to be my daughters, and no pepper or salt mill. Surprisingly for this purported up market pub/restaurant.

We went to the Rowbarge as our works christmas party. Its probably 25years since I last went here and have only the vaguest recollections of it. We had a warm welcome from the Owner and the staff and bought our first drinks. This was the first sign that this was not going to be a cheap evening. A large red wine was £7 which was at least £150 higher than most pubs in the area. I must admit that you couldn't fault the food, It was well presented and beautifully cooked and although it was a christmas menu I have never tasted anything like it before. The service was very good with the staff being attentive and responsive. It must be remembered that although a reasonably small group of 9 the total bill for the evening would, no doubt, have influenced the quality of service. It was the sort of pub I like. i.e. A pub that provides a food service rather than a restaurant that has a bar, but the cost to me means that I would not frequent this establishment unless it was a very special occasion that warranted a good service and good food regardless of the price.

We moved into the Woking area a few months back, and after trying a few disappointing pubs, we stumbled across the Rowbarge one afternoon. What a treat! Super service, great food (and value for money), and an interesting selection of beers. Genuine charm and a homely feel. We have returned on several occasions with family and friends, tried a range of the menu, and it only continues to impress. The Sunday roast is top class too. Can't wait for the summer when the outside sections can all be used.

We now live quite close to The Rowbarge and have been in for food twice so far, both on Sundays. The first time we went we opted for the Sunday carvery, which was good, but I wouldn't say it was something to write home about. The second time we decided to go for the main menu and definitely will again! All three of us had different dishes and were very impressed. I had the steak and ale pie which was delicious! I was also pleased that it was a proper pie and not just the filling served in a pot with a pastry lid plonked on top like many other places do. The portions were very generous too, but at no sacrifice to the quality. Both times the staff were very friendly and welcoming, and there was an easy-going, relaxed atmosphere about the place.

No Doom Bar bitter again. For the last three months this pub has managed to run out of their best selling bitter at least once per week, sometimes twice in the same week. My complaint today was answered by "It's Christmas week. We've been very busy". When asked about the previous failures I was told "There's plenty of lager". I went elsewhere tonight and may well have to continue to go elsewhere as I Am informed by long term locals that criticism is not welcomed by whoever is allegedly in charge.Nevermind, I'm sure I'll find a pint elsewhere.

My son had been with me to an appointment, and as we both needed cheering up he suggested lunch. As we were near the Rowbarge we decided to go there. How fortuitous! The welcome couldn't have been warmer, the food (we had delicious beef sandwiches)couldn't have been tastier, the atmosphere was friendly and convivial. The Rowbarge is obviously a popular local pub.I would guess it's good for children in the summer months as there is a good play area outside. What a lovely place. I will definitely be back

My most memorable occasion was a sunny afternoon when we met my partners son and fiancé, we sat and enjoyed several drinks and the ambiance of the garden relaxed everyone, the garden was full with families with children. there was also a good selection of food on offer.

Blown away by the food , this was something you would expect in a top London Hotel or Restaurant.. We were 4 of us having a reunion catch up meal after years of not being in touch..., I had driven up from South Wales to what was a briilliant venue choice! I was absolutely delighted! The idea that the waitressing staff are knowledgeable about the food and can describe every detail and recommend different food choices or wines is wonderful! This is what all restaurants should be like!!. The atmosphere was great, it was extremely busy but we had a great team of staff who couldn't do enough for us! Outside is a huge decking area with nighttime heaters kept under a parasol awning. The food was served in no time at all and looked divine! I had seabass and one of my friends had duck which looked incredible! The desserts were so beautiful, to look at and heaven to taste. Definitely coming here again. Best Chef!! Best Staff!! Best Price...! It is a dining experience that I would want to bring both my family and business colleagues to, it's impressive! I can't wait to come here again!

I had a party to celebrate with friends and family reaching a certain milestone - we booked all the rooms for guests coming from afar and food was laid on along with live music. It was a fantastic evening - 5 star food and service - the guests who stayed in the accomodation were very happy -the music by Mimi the singer and her guitarist got everyone dancing and the atmosphere was so good. The staff were excellent. I would recommend the Rowbarge time and again.

It's not everyday I am blown away by an eating experience, but this place was unbelievable and not something I was expecting. We were a party of 4 girls and it cannot go without saying what a difference a good hostess can make, and we had Megan; who was so cheerful and helpful & nothing was too much trouble, She had a very attentive attitude and better still was her knowledge base on the menu, wish more restaurants took this on board. I did like the complimentary olives and bread with different dips and fragranced olive oil on our table. On Megans menu recommendations we made the right meal choices. The food didnt take long at all to come to our table and when it arrived the 4 of us were speechless...this was a breathtakingly beautiful display of culinary delights one would only expect in a top London restaurant. This was absolutely divine!! What a Chef!! Of course we had to try the desserts and these too were like heaven on a plate. The bill was as normal as one would expect for a meal, we were surprised!..Long may it last! Thankyou.

The Rowbarge restaurant is In St. John Rd. We could walk from our house. We celebrated a family affair last Sunday. It was our first visit to the pub. It was cosy and the atmosphere pleasant with a smooth music. The carvery presented lamb, beef, gammon, chicken and the vegetables were perfectly cooked . All very tasty and the desserts were really nice. Good selection of wine. We were greeted and served inmediately. Very good friendly service.

We booked the Rowbarge for a family get together on Sunday 27th September - there were about 22 of us. Special mention and thanks to the chef for the incredible 'starter platters' we had outside, whilst awaiting our group to arrive. For our main course, we opted for the Sunday carvery, which worked out great for our large group and the homemade desserts were lovely. We drank way to much wine on the day, and the staff ensured we were kept stocked up - and if a particular bottle that we were drinking was running out, they always made a great suggestion for a substitute. Many thanks to Brian who took our booking and answered my many queries and to Laura who looked after us all day and ensured we had a great time. I definitely recommend the Rowbarge pub for a great day out, good food and friendly service!

We have driven past here many times but had not ventured in before however we went here for lunch with friends and wish we had gone in before now. The pub is welcoming and bright and the resturant is in the large conservatory area overlooking the garden. There are also lots of tables outside where you can enjoy food and drink when the weather is warm. The food menu gives lots of choices from simple snacks to full meals. After starters (homemade tomato and basil soup, chicken liver parfait and scallops with bacon) we had the liver and also the Italian meatballs - both of which were excellent. Portion sizes are generous and the service friendly and welcoming. Having found the Rowbarge we will certainly be back and I can only recommend this pub / restaurant to anyone who is in the area.

A delightful pub set in a rural part of Woking the atmosphere was really good and it became very obvious it was a locals pub but all very friendly and there was some good conversations taking place that generated some very interesting reactions the food was good and the designated eating area well set aside if you wanted too but we chose to remain in the bare area and engage with the regulars even if they did pinch a chip or too all done in good taste the staff were excellent very friendly and knowledgable and will definetly visit again if in the area

We moved to St Johns village a year ago but it has only been the past few months that we've started to visit the Rowbarge pub round the corner. I'm not sure why we waited so long.Since our first drink there in June we have been back at least 10 times - either for a quick tipple after work or for an extended lunch in the sun with friends at the weekend. The staff are excellent, the interior is lovely (I understand it underwent a refurb earlier this year and it shows), the beer garden is huge with plenty of seating and room for kids to play (including a playarea with climbing frame and slides), and the food is above average pub-grub - with massive portions. The Sunday Carvery is also very good. Prices are reasonable for Surrey and it has always had a buzzing atmosphere when we've been there. The Rowbarge isn't going to win any awards, but for a local village pub we're very happy with it and we'll be back again ... and again!

Wish I had gone to Costa instead of Cafe Nero Woking. Two impolite, indifferent staff who didn’t so much as break into a smile. Filthy tables and floors. Not even a please or thank you from them. Terrible!

From start to finish, the experience and service received from Carl and his team was amazing. After phoning to ask a couple of questions a couple of weeks before, I was put in touch with Carl via email, and he was so responsive and accommodating. We had a medium party of 12-15 people, and were spending the evening celebrating our joint stag/hen do after a day of activities. I dropped off some decorations earlier in the day, and they were kind enough to allocate us a whole area for our party which was in a great position with plenty of space, and even put up our decorations for us! We were all starving, so had some food, which was delivered promptly and everyone thoroughly enjoyed. 2 for 1 cocktails all night was a brilliant bonus, and everyone was so happy with every drink they had. The team were all so welcoming and lovely, and it was a great atmosphere throughout the night. We can't thank Carl and the whole team (I'm really sorry to not have got everyone's names!) enough for ensuring a special night that we won't forget. I'm sure we'll definitely be back. Thanks again!

Review 2: Absolutely love an recharge break at Bem. The music is awesome. The staff are so friendly. And the coffee is literally my favourite coffee place. I love how they make so many seasonal coffees. It's awesome. Review 1: Menu is limited. But what is made is oh, so scrumptious. The chicken mayo with extra avo bagel being one of my favourites. The staff are always friendly and kind. The atmosphere is always relaxed and fun. A place for couples, friends, and families of all ages.
