Went to a funeral wake here and they did the catering. Beautiful food fair play. Service excellent and drinks reasonably priced. I will sometime soon go there for a meal and will let you know

I came in with my family meat was cold sides and potatoes came out 10 mins after meat it was a shame cause my inlaws had recommended we go here as they'd had a great experience but mine with them and my children wernt good .

Went to the Rowan Tree for a family meal and I wasn’t sure what to expect. Exceeded my expectations, the food was hot, tasty and a nice selection to choose from. The ultimate burger was BIG and really tasty, the homemade pies lovely and the hunters chicken spot on. We’d definitely eat there again.

Lovely surroundings . Great service . Both had Carolina chicken and I can honestly say I've never enjoyed food so much .. absolutely amazing and have recommended the place (and the dish) to many friends

Went here for a Christmas meal (£26) for a 3 course meal. Expecting a home made meal. Starter - tinned soup with cold bread - a roll Main - well! Beef was packet beef (didn’t eat it) Yorkshire was small and soggy, couldn’t eat. Stuffing dry and cold. Carrots were tinned and flavourless, two small roasted potatoes that were also flavourless. Was hoping for a lot more.

Portions were small for the price. Chicken was dry / overcooked. Steak n ale pie was just ok, salmon was also dry.

Had a wonderful Sunday lunch at the rowen tree .considering we booked it last minute they were very accommodating staff were welcoming and very attentive. Food arrived quickly and was piping hot and a good portion size too. Desert was excellent good choice of both to chicken beef lamb or a mixture. Great atmosphere would definitely recommended.

Great food.. Girls serving are a credit to the Pub. I know the meal I posted doesn't look much but its all I wanted. Sent loads back. Tons of gravey if your into it. I'd give the meal 10/10. I WILL be back

Second visit, second amazing Steak. Very friendly staff and well worth a visit. Food takes a short while to come but that is only because its cooked to order and well worth the wait. I'll definitely be back very soon.

Lovely traditional pub, lots of seating areas, beautiful view from the conservatory. We had a friendly welcome and enjoyed a home cooked Sunday lunch.

We booked here for a family meal as adults and children in the group. Havnt been here before so was looking forward to it.. we were sat at our table straight away which was good. Within 10 minutes the young girl was serving our starters which was quick. We had mixture of starters from chicken strips to garlic mishrooms. All the starters were lovely. Then came the mains. I had the steak and ale pie and although the steak in the pie was beautiful and tender and big chunks of it there wasn't really any flavour to it. My daughter has the salmon which was 17 pound and when it came we thought they had made a mistake and gave her a child's meal. It was rhe smallest piece of salmon I have ever seen. We called the waitress who was lovely and asked her had they made a mistake portion wise and she said she didn think so but would take it back to the kitchen and ask. Which she so kindly did. The chef had said he could put another LARGE one in to cook or keep the one that was cooked and have it half price. Although we wasn't happy with the portion size of it we decided to stick to the piece of salmon that was already cooked otherwise we would have to have waited for another to be cooked when every one else would have finished their meals by then anyway so just went along with what we had. But the salmon meal wasn't that appealing on the plate anyway and over half of it was left. The burger meals we had as well were overcooked and slightly burnt and very dry. Children's meals were all ok. Had extra sides of garlic breads and onion rings. A hair was found in the portion of onion rings then so I jus left my food then as just could not stomach to eat more. All in all a poor night food wise but all the waitresses that served us were lovely. Just the food was not up to scratch.

Lovely place to visit beautiful scenery from outside decking and great staff

Not been here for years , called in on the off chance when driving past and having been turned away from a nearby pub who claimed they were fully booked whilst appearing empty 🤷. Anyway staff here were very friendly , good quality drinks , red wine was good served in a decent proper red wine glass 👏🏼 Our meals were lovely couldn't fault them , good sized portions and cooked to perfection . We will definitely return .

Great pub/ restaurant with great Steaks the freshest meat ( the owner is a butcher) I recommend the Boston or New Yorker steak the garlic mushrooms are fabulous, especially the sauce a great selection of drinks bar staff brilliant you won't be disappointed highly recommended.

I have had better food for a lot less money elsewhere, the staff were excellent .

Warm and friendly welcome in arrival. Food was really nice, just what a pub meal should be. Makes such a difference that they serve home made chips that are well cooked because let’s face it who actually wants to go out for a meal and be served frozen chips. Portions were generous. Prices were very reasonable. Will definitely stop for a meal again next time we’re passing.

Lovely place to stop for a drink. Sat outside to make the most of the lovely weather.

Lovely food, staff and good choice

There was a hair in one of the basket of chips and I had to send my burger back because it was burnt and I couldn’t cut through it. They did give me a refund and apologised and staff were friendly.

Lovely open fire you can sit infront of. Very friendly staff. The food is out of this world.

2nd time we have been here won't be a third I had gammon £16.95 Thin like ham supposed to have been a whole gammon get thicker ones from aldi in a 2 pack Wife's chicken was like rubber garlic breads over cooked we couldn't eat them chips were nice Didn't ask for dessert £53 not well spent

Great spot, friendly and attentive staff and one mahoosive burger.

Great meal overall, plenty of veggies & more when requested. Great desserts, very tasty & well presented. Around £14 a head for main course & £6 for desserts. Comfortable & warm very polite/helpful service. If there was just one small issue it was that the gravy was a bit lumpy.

Lovely Sunday lunch with my family , how ever when I made the booking I asked was a wheelchair user able to use the mens toilet and was told by a young man yes , we had to leave not having our pudding as we couldn't get the wheelchair in , so embarrassing for my uncle , he just kept apologising, but i will be back as I really enjoy your food xx

Haven't been to this pub for a very long time even though I live local. The family booked for a Sunday meal just as a get together, it turned out to be disappointing. Meal was nice, staff and service were great but the cleanliness of the whole place was disgusting. Basic matters like... Toilet door locks not working. Child seats not cleaned. This pub has it all, the countryside views, the conservatory, which we could not get into because what seems like the regular smokers and drinkers have named seats, plenty of parking, great staff and a beautiful welcome from the smart lady herself. I only hope someone will inject finances into this beautiful run down pub, the staff are already there and a lovely bunch they are. Thank you

Very good, excellent food l, excellent service. The only issue we had was not with the pub its self. We went there because the services listed here said it had disabled access and disabled toilets. It does not. The entrance is ok but there are no disabled toilets. The staff offered to close the gents if she wanted to use the toilet in there, but that not really an option for a lady. But I would highly recommend this place if you do not need any special access, it was well worth it...

We dropped in for lunch on Monday, 26th September, never visited there before. The food was amazing. I had made minted lamb hot pot and the flavours were amazing. Definitely recommend a visit.

Awful food !!! bread hard and obviously microwaved although landlord said griddled but no griddled marks on bread burger tasted like cardboard will not return

What a lovely pub!! This was our first visit here, a Saturday night for a family meal, on arrival we were greeted very warmly with a lovely smile from a female member of staff and shown to our table. The place was lovely and clean. The food was delicious- compliments to the chef !!! all homemade and very generous portions. I choose the Caroline chicken , it was delivered hot and was totally yummy!!! Dessert was sticky toffee pudding- Mmmmmm. Well worth a visit - we will be back!!

Not sure they understand what good home food should look like....Sunday lunch was definitely not a pleasant experience....however the staff and the owner seem to try hard.. the pub is rather run down could do with a bit of care to uplift the ambience and maybe a review of cleanliness . We ate in the "conservatory" which was very much in need of a make over, especially the very grease ladened extractor on the wall....I believe their intentions are good,. But I think they could do much better with a little imagination..

Arrived with no reservation, had a lovely pint of Doombar until lunch arrived. I had a half gammon. The landlord said I could have a full one if I wanted. Glad I didn't because the half was ample. My wife had fish goujons. It was all very nicely presented and the portions very generous. Good service considering there were two large family gatherings taking place. First visit, although we have driven past many times. Will visit again but probably not a lot as they wouldn't have allowed Jess the Jack Russell who is normally with us inside. Too many pubs discriminate against canines. I like Jess more than I like most people so will always pick places that welcome her like the wonderful Black Lion at Llandaff.

Arrived and greeted with a friendly welcome, it was grill night so steak it was, wanted a specific sauce with my steak and the chef accommodated my request. The food was quite simply phenomenal, proper homemade chips and the steak cooked to perfection. Service was amazing and great value for money. After a disappointing visit to Millar And Carter last week this was streets ahead in value and quality in my opinion, and less than half price too 👌 Will 100% be returning
