Great place, nice food, lovely staff will be back there in a week or two 😀

Very disappointed we had a table tucked round the corner non should be there for two people of four should just accommodate large parties it's loud and takes ages to get served can't be seen food at this price should not be so poor, better food cheaper at wether spoons the outside says good food and service, inside cramped and expensive poor burgers in horrible bun, others say great can't see why, said messy burger with all these things in and around but came and first sight was chips ok but nothing special with messy burger and not much of what was stated, to be there, I cook and a dried up burger with a few bits in it of nothing much to give it height, never again building looks great congrats with that but chef at this price, no?!

We enjoyed a beautiful, delicious ribeye steak. Cooked to perfection medium rare, it melted in the mouth. Good value for money brilliant service at great prices.

My wife and I visited the Railway Inn for an early dinner. Food was nice enough. The service was okay. There is plenty of parking. I thought the prices were a little high for the area.

Visiting a friend and we came across this place and pop in for a meal we will be going there again the service was excellent the food was hot and lovely I'll recommend this place to anyone , if I ever get married I'd love to book my reception there

Christmas lunch..food fantastic

We had a lovely meal the food was delicious very tasty. The staff was very polite, happy, and helpful. The restaurant was lovely and clean. plenty of room. We would recommend this place u really need to visit there. I had the chicken breast stuffed with leek and mushroom, and it was very tasty and the chicken just fell apart. We paid £69 and that was 3 meals and drinks

Just came back from the Railway inn for Sunday dinner which was absolutely beautiful tasting and a generous helping, The meat was very tender, the beef was falling apart, the dinner came piping hot the service fabulous the staff were professional and very polite, The pub was a surprise spotless and comfortable. Excellent fillet steak ! So tasty and cooked to perfection 👏👏 and I could swap my chips for sweet potato chips and they were great. The blue cheese sauce is very tasty. 100% rather the railway than miller and Carter. Better value for money and better quality steak

We visited this afternoon for a family meal - 8 adults. From the moment we entered the restaurant the staff took care of us. Everything from the drinks, food & atmosphere was terrific !! The menu has a good selection to suit all budgets, portion sizes are big but most of all the food is delicious!!! I can’t prise the severs and chefs enough, I’ve eaten in many restaurants and this place is up there with the best. I definitely recommend and will be returning soon.

Popped into this venue on our way home from a long journey. Excellent menu choice, really tasty hot food.

Service good. Smaller option for Seniors would have been better. Prices were high for us pensioners. Clean surroundings and facilities.

Had a table for 12 for my mother's 70th birthday everyone ordered something different on the menu and all of us said how nice the meal was and good value for money

On arrival a member of staff was rude, Didn’t take us to our seats, just pointed to where we’d be seated. (Attitude not good) Food wasn’t great. Gammon under cooked and fatty! Steak over cooked to what was asked. Majority of Staff extremely miserable! Didn’t enjoy our time!!!

This was my first visit and my last. The pub has had two makeovers recently and the latest results in a gloomy purple walled interior. The food is simple pub grub but at restaurant prices. My starter should have been calamari but I was served four heavily crumbed balls of scampi. The waitress and Manager were adamant that I was wrong !!! I didn't bother with a main course after being charged £6.50 for the privilege - yes that's £1.62 per ball !!!!

Although it was very busy and short staffed the service was great. The chef even helped take meals to tables

How times have changed. I last visited 12 months ago at that time the food was tasty and well prepared. Last night all I could say about the food was it was blah,the portion was bulked out with boiled rice,the frozen chips were ok if eaten with plenty of salt on them and the chicken was as dry as anything. My wife had lasagna which she thought was tasty but only served with chips before the serving came with peas . I think that the large party they had in put a strain on the kitchen to cater for them and others may have been a bit beyond the staff.

Food was good and great value for money. Can't fault the service we received. Would certainly return.

Absolutely beautiful steak . Cooked to perfection.. I didn't think much of the frozen chips, they were a bit greasy and the onion rings wasn't great but the steak was yum!

First time visiting this pub, went for the veggie options as most places are limited. Very relaxed atmosphere, proper ‘pub grub’ all the food was good and the waitress serving us was particularly friendly. Will definitely go again.

This is my ‘go to’ place to eat. It’s local, all of the staff are friendly and accommodating and, honestly, in all my years of eating here, I (nor anyone in my group) have ever had a bad meal. The food is always piping hot, brought to the tables at the same time whether the group consists of 3 or 15 people and is always very tasty Keep doing what you‘re doing. See you again soon! Called in here on the off chance of a table on the way home after a long afternoon. The staff were friendly, accomodating, and polite. The food was very good. You can expect a typical pub menu of mixed grills and platters, but it was oh so nice! Would definitely visit again. Reasonable prices too for the current economical climate.

This was a great find just outside Nelson despite not booking a table they were happy to find us a table, the food is delicious and plentiful and the beer was great, so much so that we visited again the next day.

Had Sunday lunch for a family get together for 12 people.The food was outstanding. Plenty of meat and veg on plate. Lovely dessert to finish off. Will be back soon

I went here for Sunday Lunch, there was a nice atmosphere and it was clean inside. I had the Large beef roast this cost £14. It was great value for money as it was big, there was alot of food espically the meat and it was tasty. I Would recommend it!

They very politely fitted us in at short notice and the waitress and waiter were really helpful and friendly. We were impressed with decor and have fancied visiting for a while. The food was presented lovely and everything looked freshly cooked. I'll be suggesting a visit with my family and friends.

Have just eaten at The Railway following several good reports on local social media and I must say, I was disappointed, but there are good points. The beers are good quality, the waitress staff were poilte and prompt in every aspect and the surroundings were clean and comfortable. Then came the food. Meal 1 - Steak, peas, chips with peppercorn sauce. Meal 2 - Steak and ale pie, chips and veg. Chips can only be described as pasty since they are frozen. The veg on both dishes was about as good as it can get and by far the best part of the meal. The steak was cooked exactly as I asked but had a wholly overbearing taste of saltiness while the peppercorn sauce was weak, runny and vinegary, not creamy. The steak and ale pie too was over-salted, but creamy. The crust was slightly undercooked and pale but was acceptable. Overall, the meal which we went for was spoiled.. by the meal! With drinks included, I don't expect to pay forty pounds for frozen chips and heavily salted food. Sorry, but can't see that we will be returning customers here.

What a great place. The 3 of us each had different dishes and all plates were cleared. Super efficient service from Ionela and Kristian. Kristian's sense of humour added to the ambiance. Meals were reasonably priced and beautifully cooked. Recommend the fish! Will definitely visit again. Thanks to all staff.

Love it here. Tasty food, excellent service from smiley staff. Great ale as a Rumney Brewery pub. Very buzzy on a dull Monday lunchtime. Recommended.

We were a party of six, and after booking was a bit concerned that there had been some negative reviews posted. However, I needn’t have been worried as service was great and the steaks were cooked exactly how we wanted them- very tasty and good value for money. The Rhymney bitter is also worth sampling Cheers

Hot food served on cold plates! Service good, if a little too quick, so felt the Table was wanted even though there were some empty. Menu selection very limited too.

Pub grub but on the expensive side

With the new outdoor seating arrangement the pub doesn’t seem to be able to cope with the extra workload and the food is suffering as a result with many meals left half eaten will not rush to eat there again lasagne burnt and the burger dry with no taste
