A friend and I called in on spec for lunch. Place packed out with Christmas lunchers. However a manager was very helpful and made us space by the bar. Our Christmas lunch was not fine dining, but was nonetheless very palatable. and we were frequently asked if we were happy.. The main thing was the happy atmosphere and helpfulness of the staff. Recommended!

Staff were friendly and helpful. Service was fast. Relaxed atmosphere, families were welcome. We all enjoyed our Sunday roasts or meals (including a vegetarian option and a kid's meal). Puddings were tasty and a generous size. Was a little on the pricey side but worth it for the setting and good food. Would visit again as a treat or to welcome visiting family. Nice garden area (though we ate inside). Thank you!

Had a lovely experience for our 1st restuarant meal in a year in the uk. The hospitality was exceptional, The food was very good and the ambience great; Being outside in the early evening with the option of blankets and infra red heaters was welcomed as it soon got cool when the sun went down. Plenty of choice for vegetarian and Vegans. Looking forward to going back again in the near future. Well done to management & staff for making it a pleasant evening despite the Covid restrictions.

Pleased to find a large car park beside the entrance. Four of us, plus baby, had a very nice lunch in the garden. Food choices were restricted due to current pandemic, but the menu was fine, typical pub-type meals, sausages, steak pie, fish and chips. Plus some interesting starters and desserts. Prices not unreasonable. The staff were very pleasant and helpful, thank you Rob.

We regularly visit with family as the location is convenient. There is a reasonable choice of food but the menu rarely changes (especially not the puddings). One member of staff (Rob) is particularly friendly, kind and helpful. If it wasn't for him there would be one star less. There used to be a very abrupt waitress but hopefully she has gone. But what lets it down is the whole place seems to be falling apart. The vast car park is literally crumbling away and is dangerous to walk on as the slabs are so uneven and broken. The chairs are very old with loose covers on. They are uncomfortable as the cushion pads are so worn away. The toilets are very old fashioned with a noisy fan. This could be a lovely place as the garden is beautiful, so much potential but money does need to be spent on it.

Adequate car park and the Conservatory dining room is through the garden. Limited choice starters at over £6 and limited main course although the beef was generous and tasty. Sadly as previously mentioned by others the vegetables were a very small portion microwaved and still In water, the gravy was tasty but does it have to be poured and not served separately? The desert course uninspiring. Also the napkin, again as already mentioned, seemed like kitchen roll at best. The staff were young and maybe overworked as were slow and I am not enamoured with a “cheers” as a departure. However the bar man was polite, cheerful and helpful It always sad when comments are previously made suggesting improvements but they are ignored.

We stayed here for one night and to be honest with you that was quite enough, the whole place is a little bit tired and badly needs some TLC, we opted to have a breakfast in the hotel on Sunday morning which to be honest with you wasn’t particularly special and they ran out of coffee at about 10:15 and when we asked if they could make some more they said yes but we would probably have to pay extra for it so we won’t without, overall I would find it hard to recommend this hotel for anyone unless you are desperate to stay in this village.

Initial reception excellent as was our experience with all the staff during our visit. The 3 staff we met could not have been more pleasant and helpful. We had a garden room so that we did not have to go upstairs. The room was comfortable with a spacious wet room and toilet attached. ( note there are a couple of steps to get to the reception/ dining room). Our evening meal and breakfast was very good and served in good time but not rushed but it was not busy.Overall a lovely setting, maybe a bit more expensive than Premier Inn which we did consider but a much more attractive setting.

We stayed here overnight recently and felt that the accommodation was completely overpriced for the standard provided. It was clean but basic and the bathroom smelled of bleach even the morning after we’d checked in. We paid a hefty price (perhaps as it was associated with a wedding?) for a decidedly average room and average breakfast. Wouldn’t recommend at all and would suggest staying in the Travelodge nearby for half the price and probably equal quality!

My family had booked the Rosery on the basis of the lovely looking rooms on their website. Unfortunately all four of our rooms were tired, dated and not as the picture had reflected them. We had paid room rates between £95 to £125 and this cost was not justifiable. The lady in charge, Liz, was fantastic and accommodating, however, with her being charge of check-in, the bar and waitressing, the guests were left waiting. The hotel need to update the rooms or pictures to reflect the true state of the rooms and also consider their costs.

Such a shame. Visited the Rosery for Sunday lunch. Obviously a popular choice judging by the full tables. Located in Exning, from the outside not much, pull into the car park and enter the restaurants garden and it is impressive. Dining area is inside the conservatory, and very nicely laid out. Unfortunately the Rosery does let itself down with the cheap serviettes. Not a wonderful choice on the Sunday menu so we gave the starters a miss. The roast beef arrived with a good supply of gravy, this unfortunately was let down by the very small amount of vegetables. One very small cauliflower floret, three shavings of carrot, a sugar bean and something else. We felt disappointed as we had been looking forward to this. Granted this is not the most expensive roast, but one would expect more vegetables. A nice venue with the opportunity of being even better.

Roadside appearance is not great, but as soon as you drive into the large car park at the back it opens up to lovely gardens. A group of us visited this Sunday for lunch. Although we descended on the bar to choose our drinks the lady behind it was not fazed and made us feel very welcome. We were shown to our table overlooking the gardens. The home cooked food from the starters, main course and pudding were tasty and served hot. The roast lunch was served with great Yorkshire puddings and roasties. A selection of vegetables were served separately. The staff served the food fast without any of us feeling rushed. We will definitely be recommending to friends.

Today my 91 year old friend and I have been to one of our favourite venues, The Rosery at Exning, for Sunday Lunch with its excellent varied menu and pleasant surroundings. The waiting staff were mostly teenagers (young men and one young lady), who catered for our every need with a smile, great competence and courtesy. The many patrons were delighted to see former manager Allan Ketteridge temporarily in charge once again - long may it continue whatever the cost! You can always be sure to see familiar faces who come back yet again for another delicious meal at a very reasonable price.

Today, for instance, despite England World Cup Football, Flower Festival at Ely Cathedral and a wonderful hot sunny day, the restaurant was fully booked, plus a private function, also a christening party later. Recently came here as a treat for my birthday but was far from a treat! Bad wifi, light shone through curtains, pathetic pillow and only one, ladybird issue, duvet cover too large for duvet, bed too squishy every time i rolled over i virtually fell out of bed, hand dryer in ladies toilets downstairs constantly going off, grotesque decor seriously needs updating and not to mention the fire alarm going off waking me up on the only day of the week i actually get a lay in on when there wasn’t even a fire. As a result of these things i got next to no sleep and actually had to cancel my plans for the next day. Not impressive at all i would rather sleep in a tent. Altamente recomendado

I attended a meal for a group of over 30 people on Friday and totally surprised to see for most of the pre-meal drinks only ONE bar person on duty this does not make any sense because surely if they served drinks quicker they would make more money? The starter I had chosen was Garlic Brie - they were okay, the bread was nice which was served with the starters, and the melon and sorbet looked good, the beef roast as a main course didn't quite hit the spot, my roast potatoes resembled what I look like in the winter months (pale!) and wasn't the biggest of portions for anyone who likes a bigger meal the yorkie was huge but would have preferred a more tasty yorkie. Small dish of accompanying veg, nice but small! Speaking to other people who have visited the menu and service are always very similar. Having said that the Lemon Curd Cheesecake was delicious. Pleasant service but initial bar service put a dampers on the evening. Extension was cool as a cold night I had to shut the windows. Limited parking and only our party in except a handful of guests

I feel the staff tried to do their best for our dinner at the Rosery but the place just doesn't lend itself to anything more than average. Cheap tables of slightly different heights pushed together in a cold conservatory in January sets the scene. There is a stove fire in the bar but sitting there in our coats the bar maid said she might light it later but never did. Portion size was on the small side and the staff couldn't wait to clear our cups away and left us feeling we had better leave after spending a substantial amount on a large family gathering that lasted less then 2 hours.

Stayed only for one night 7/9/15 as a wedding aniversary treat. Prawn cocktail unusual salad, pate nice not enough toast though. I had ribeye steak was nice. Wife was really looking forward to steak and ale pie but could not order as had mushroom in which is unusual and she is allergic to them. So she had the chicken leek and ham pie which was not a full pie only filling put in dish with a seperate puff lid cooked and placed on top. Bar had no atmosphere and both the service on the bar and in the restaurant wasnt great! Garden room 1 was nice however not very well adapted wet room for my disabled wife! No grab rails, slippery floors, nowhere to put your toliteries whilst washing, shower head in middle of room, and there should be a fixed fold down seat on the wall and shower above not on middle of a huge wet room. Breakfast was a much nicer experience than dinner with a more pleasant and attentive server. Feel the rest of the hotel and restaurant needs updating and refurbishment. Price of rooms should allow for some money to be spent on decor ! Total 5/10 . A slightly dissapounting experience im affraid.

This is going to sound very odd, but we finally made it back to the Rosery last week for a meal, nearly seven years since we held our lovely wedding reception there!! It's not been through lack of trying, just every time we tried booking, they were full of diners or full with a function, as they are such a popular venue!! So glad we went back, as the meal was excellent, as was the wine. I had calves liver which was superb, and the rest of our party steak (2x ribeye) and chicken with mushroom. Usually my friends take their dog a small bit of trimmings off the steaks home, sadly she would have been disappointed that night, as there was not a single bit left by anyone!! A sensible amount of mixed vegetables was provided, just enough to complement the liver and chicken dishes. The boys loved the steaks, very well prepared and cooked spot on (medium and rare) and this only got better when we spotted they were half price on Thursday, Friday and Saturday!!! (they were well worth full price) puds were lovely again, bread and butter pud nearly up to my homemade standards, the nearest we've had!! Wine very nice, tried the Rioja, which was oak aged, and reasonably priced, and went down nicely. All in all a great meal, which was enjoyed by us all. We have booked for Valentines too!!
