Been here a couple of times now. Nice pub away from the tourist trap of Borough. Comfortable, clean and nicely decorated. Food good. Staff friendly. Prices not too bad for central London, especially the cocktails!

🚇 London Bridge 🍺 £6.90 Mahou The Rose is located close to Guy’s Hospital on the border between Borough and Bermondsey in Southeast London. The nearest Tube is London Bridge. This pub was known as The Rose & Lily and was originally built in the late 18th century. The pub you see today was built in 1869 and was a former Hoare & Co house. This is a one bar pub that has a stylish and traditional feel. You enter via a lovely corner vestibule entrance, which you don’t see too often these days. The servery is located opposite the entrance and has a copper topped counter. In front of the servery are a number of poser tables, to the right are some cosy booths with comfy leather benches. As you head further back, there is a small seating area that leads to an intimate beer garden. The decor consists of oak panelling, a herringbone parquet floor and an eclectic mix of interesting artworks. One of my favourite features of the pub was the Street Fighter II arcade machine. The beer line up will please most and offers a selection of well known brews and one cask ale. I decided on a Mahou, my pint was spot on, price point was above average. The food menu is classic pub fayre with a few twists, Fish & Chips costs £17, Roasts are available on a Sunday. I arrived just after 2pm on a chilly Saturday afternoon in February. There was an upbeat buzz about the pub with a good mix of punters from different walks of life. The service was great, the team on duty were welcoming and friendly. Great to see this pub packed and thriving on a Saturday afternoon. I loved the traditional pub vibes with the artistic touches, there was a decent choice of beers and a good mix of clientele. The Bermondsery Parmo is on point!

Fun place for a pint. Serves food & has booths for groups to sit in. London Bridge tube stop. Close to the Shard, waterfront & shopping market.

The rudest bar staff I have ever come across. I have genuinely never been spoken to so badly or made to feel so small whilst politely trying to order a drink. This is the first time in my life I've felt so strongly to leave a review and I really hope someone reads this and actually takes a look at the level of customer service provided by their team. If it was not for my place of work drinking here I would honestly never return.

This is a nice lively bar on a quiet street. This is a popular bar after work between colleagues. The bar itself is a little small and can get very busy, so a lot of people will probably just stay outside and envoy their drinks outside. There is an outside room and another downstairs. There are some fun paintings and decorations around the bar and old televisions playing black and white movies in t he background. The toilets are playing audio books of ‘only fools and horses’ which was fun to hear.

Popped in for lunchtime food and drink. Great welcome, good range of beers etc. Menu looked good with plenty of choice. The food was terrific. Best chips I've had in years. Crisp on the outside and fluffy inside. Fabulous and really tasty. The chicken schnitzel was perfection. Tender and moist with a delicious cheese and chorizo topping. Serving was more than I would normally eat but it was so good I ate the lot. My better half had the Fish Finger Sandwich and it too was enormous. The fingers were big and beautifully cooked. Pub is lovely inside with paneling and artifacts and pictures to intrigue. Loved the Only Fools & Horses soundtrack playing in the loo!

Nice vibe, we managed to get a whole booth on a Friday night which was a great result. Surprised it's not more busy.

Cool pub with friendly staff. Reasonably priced drinks. The food let it down though. I was getting excited to eat beef brisket and mac&cheese but when it turned up, me and my partner looked at it with disappointment. It was not what we were expecting. £17 for a main served on a small plate. Tasteless with small bits of beef running through the mac&cheese. I could have done a better job. Also 2 bits of garlic bread that looked like it was bought from a supermarket. I will go for drinks again but never order food.

A complete catfish. Looked great in the photos but the reality is a big let down. £7 a pint and £17 for the "brisket mac cheese with garlic bread", which was a small dish of mediocre mac cheese with a few bits of tasteless shredded beef hidden in it, accompanied by two slices of garlic bread that looked like they had come from a supermarket's value range. Flavourwise- it was OK, nothing special and definitely not worth £17! The place has a small sheltered beer garden and a trendy aesthetic, with AI generated cocktail menus designed to look like a comic book. Everything is a bit pricy in that part of London so the price of a pint wasn't too surprising- but charging £17 for a ready meal is outrageous. Wetherspoons food for Savoy prices.

Don't walk. RUN. This place is a well kept secret. A fantastic classic pub. What they dont tell you about is the prices for Zone 1! Great food menu, Sunday roasts were fantastic, drinks menu and let's not forget GREAT prices!

This is a great pub for either a quick pint or a session. Really friendly and quick service even on a crowded Friday night. Well worth a visit if you are local - you won't be disappointed

Nice enough boozer, barman was a bit grumpy, but we weren't there long enough to know if it was just a one off. The beer selection though is a bit of a let down, clearly catering for the fizzy lager crew (there was one real ale pump, but it had Doom Bar on it, so pretty dull). Shame, as the general vibe of the place was nice.

Fabulous atmosphere, excellent, friendly staff and amazing food. Group of us ate a range of dishes - Wild Boar Sausages & Mash, Fish & Chips, Fishfinger Sandwich and it was all faultlessly fresh and filling.

Nice boozer off the beaten track at the back of London Bridge station. Nice layout and decor , great vibe and nice clientele, prompt bar service , and even a reasonable enough price point for pints given the location and current climate. However all kinda ruined by the quality of the beer. The Guinness was really really poor and there is no excuse for that in this day in age. Left my group after a couple of pints because of it. Shame

Surreal experience, we had two rounds of drinks and then the manager refused to serve us more for being drunk. The lady serving us seemed confused why he had banned us. Don't know if he confused us with someone else maybe but made us feel very unwelcome

As a pub it is really nice. However being Boro lads and hearing somewhere in central(ish) London does a parmo we were buzzing. Only to be served an overcooked, dry bit of chicken with a slice of cheese put on top and we had the pleasure of paying £16 for it!? No garlic sauce either. Don't bother getting your hopes up, you'll be disappointed, besides manjaros on brick lane has opened up now so just go there for a proper parmo. Would probably come back for a drink if I was in the area cause like I said, it was a nice pub to drink in.

Rudest and most baffling experience in a pub. We visit the rose quite frequently however yesterday we were frostily refused a second pint. When we asked the barman why, he indicated a tea light containing a match which had been on our table and suggested we had been playing with matches… we had not however the barman’s mind was made up and we were shown the door. I remain confused and am sorry to say that one entitled and power brazen barman has lost the rose three happy punters

Young brunette server was rude and showed us zero warmth the entire time we were there eating. I get it, she wanted to be doing other things with her Sunday, but it was really noticeable by all of us and soured the experience. The Caesar salad was inedible - absolutely drenched in dressing with sodden lettuce floating in it like a soup! Server didn’t come and ask how everything was, so when she came to clear the plates away at the end we mentioned it and showed her the soupy salad and she just said “OK.” Nothing offered.

It sells beer, you hear voices while you go to the toilet (not sure if that's me) not as pretentious as other pubs in the area

the rose has often been a stop off for a lunch time / post work pint, but i recently went down for a client lunch and tried the parmo. absolutely sensational food - random thing to have on the menu but i was a big fan. chicken schnitzel covered in cheese / bechamel and even chorizo. spotted they have poutine on the menu too, which i'll be getting next time

We came across the rose pub by accident on our visit to London Bridge the other day. And what a beautiful pub it is, A unique mix of old and contemporary art pieces to be found there. The pub itself is highly maintained ,cleanliness seems to be a top priority at this pub and much appreciated. The flooring is beautiful throughout parkque and highly polished. Once again we were very impressed with the service, And the politeness of the staff, All in all a beautifully maintained pub. We will certainly be going back for a pint the next time we're in the area.

Decent food for lunch on a Thursday. Good selection of beers. All our food though came out at very different times. Also I was asked whether I wanted to change my order as it was running really late. No money taken off the bill or even a suggestion mentioned to reduce the tip. Not a great experience, not sure would go back tbh, plenty of other good options in the area

We booked for lunch today and the food was amazing! I had one of the Parmos and it was so tasty and a great portion! The service was also incredible. Really friendly and welcoming. Highly recommend!

Very decent pub, friendly staff, lovely food. We wanted to take our American friends for pub grub and they delivered. Had fish and chips but sadly they don't do bangers and mash. Cocktails were pricey but unique and tasty.

Not much more to say other then a nice pub ,as some who can't drink there do have a couple of decent AF beers options which I was surprised with , all in all definitely go in there again if I'm in the area

OK pub near London Bridge Station. Only one cask beer on handpump when I last visited. A few outside tables some of them covered. Very expensive - £6.00 for an OK pint of Timothy Taylor's Landlord.

Can't fault the place. Street fighter for free, Food is affordable and very good. The chips are the best I've had in a very long time. Proper British pub feel with a geeky modern feel about it. Lovely staff and I love the atmosphere here. Definitely coming again

This place was amazing. Proper London boozer with typical pub grub, but even better. A stones throw from the shard but tucked behind in the back streets. It was busy as it was a Friday night but we reserved a table, good job we did. The food was amazing, did I say that already. I had the Parmo and it was huge, piping hot. My son had the pie of the day, which was chicken and chorizo and it was soo tasty. Can't fault this place and would recommend to anyone not wanting to go to your typical restaurant chain which london is flooded with.

Popped in for a drink on the way home this evening. The barman was so rude. A friend ordered a wine and a glass of water and when she misheard him he really aggressively replied and eye rolled, we then ordered two brandies and they came with noticeably different pour levels and when we questioned it were told in a horrible tone “I can pour between them but it’s just a mispour - or you can do it yourself”. The rest of the team were lovely but this guy was so rude and unwelcoming it was so uncomfortable, like he didn’t want customers in the pub. A shame because we’ve had other nice experiences in the pub
