Fresh, classic, no frills cod and chips!

A great little fish and chips shop which is a rarity these days. Comes pretty close to perfect, in an up and coming area again, definitely worth a visit if in the local area. Really great deals on offer, and very helpful staff.

The staff was nice and good came quickly. We ordered take-out. The fish was yummy, it came with a mountain of chips, and the burger was good. Unfortunately their beef and onion pie was nit made in house, but a packaged one. It wasn't good....

Loin des fish and chips à touristes de Londres. Ce fish bar est complètement traditionnel avec un cuisson quasiment toujours à la demande. Un grande variété de poissons est proposée pour sortir du 'Cod' comme le plaice ( plus fin) Les frites 'chips' sont faites maison et donc totalement fraîche. Excellent poulet frit . C est traditionnel et bon. A deux pas de l Imperial War Museum.

We ordered fish and chips and were very satisfied. The food was freshly prepared, but without a long wait. Very nice owner, can only be recommended.

Decent portion of fish though fillet was a bit thin not thick as other places. Batter was light and really crispy. Small portion of chips, not very crispy, bit too soft. Only the very small pieces were crispy. It was cooked on the spot, so fresh and hot.

best fish and chip shop round this area but not cheap

I took a group of first-time London/UK visitors to Castle Fish Bar. The welcome, smile and the whole vibe was very warm. The food was spot on. The service was great. They went above and beyond to ensure we were well cared for. Then to top it off, we discovered one of the best coffee in London next door. Love it.

Muy buen lugar para comer! Muy limpio, el chico atento y la comida muy buena, económico y en cantidad. El baño curioso por qué está en el piso de abajo cerrado con una puertecilla casera, pero está muy limpio. Parada obligatoria si vas al museo de la guerra!

Lo descubrimos de casualidad pero ha sido un gran descubrimiento. Los chicos súper atentos y la comida increíble tanto el fish and chips como el pollo. Nice chaps who serve, The only issue is they need to cook more food for 5 pm onwards as always a wait and the same for lunchtime. Chicken is delicious chips ok when well done fish good sausage is regular chip shop sausage. Nice curry, sause! Excellent spring rolls.

Although the men who served me were polite and professional, I became terribly ill from food poisoning after the meal of fish and chips.

I love this place, i have been coming here for the best food since the seventies, fresh food great people and great value, will never stop coming, its the legendary Castle Fish bar, its quality is known through the decades.

Popped in to this chippy on my way back to my hotel. (Though I was on the right road, but I wasn’t and he got me back in the right direction) Really friendly, a few locals came in who knew him and he knew the family and was lovely to see that local communication and interactions. Food was really nice, and a clean place (didn’t eat in as was about 8.30pm) as well. This has either been in his family or he’s been there for a long time, no doubt many many many years, it really gave that vibe. Next time in london would I go back, absolutely worth the 10 min walk if in the mood for a chippy tea.

During school holidays we always try a new traditional fish and chip shop. The Castle Fish Bar was sensibly priced, lovely fresh fish beautifully cooked, nice chips and all served with a smile. Would definitely go again.

The fish bar was recommended by a local at the museum. Our food was freshly made and the batter had the right consistency. The cod fillet was very delicious. The staff was very pleasant and we greatly enjoyed our fish and chip experience.

The owner was extremely kind and welcomed a group of 12 children last minute. He gave us a dinner deal with fish&chips and a drink each for a very fair price! Excellent food quality, you could really tell the fish was fresh, quick service and friendly staff. The kids were very happy with the fish&chips after we spent the whole day visiting London! He saved the day!

The food and the stuff was great. You can sit there and you can peacefully eat your food. Everything looks nice and clean. Really recommended.

Popped out of imperial war museum for some lunch and noticed subway nearby. But they would not accept subway coupon so decided to look elsewhere. Noticed the chip shop almost next door and really pleased we decided to go in. Had freshly cooked chips with fish, mushy peas with drink and other meal battered sausage and chips. Portions were generous, cost very reasonable considering it was London (about £13 for both meals). Sat in and table was clean, had free tomato ketchup and mayonnaise available. Friendly service. We would definitely go back again.

Enjoyed a fish and chip meal deal with peas and a drink for £9 this evening, eating in. It was clean, friendly and welcoming. The food was cooked to order and served reasonably quickly. Piping hot, very tasty and the ingredients used appear to be decent quality. I’ve since seen other reviews on here and can only reiterate the same... well recommended for an eat in or takeaway, good quality at decent prices.

Been using this Chip Shop for 50 years now and the quality has never changed , this has to be the best chippy ever ! Amazing staff , the food delicious, so lucky it’s my local , keep your posh ones this is the only chip shop for me . 5stars from me .

This has been our go-to chippy in this area for the past year or so, after trying others in the locality. I expect it will remain our first choice due to the consistency and good quality of the product. Friendly staff, tasty fish & chips ... just what we want.

Wir suchten für Abends was schnelles zum Essen. Auf Google Maps wurde uns The Castle Fish Bar angezeigt. Da es in Laufweite war beschlossen wir zudem Aufgrund der Rezensionen dorthin zu gehen. Vor der Tür wurde bereits mit einem Menü geworben. Preislich sehr überzeugend (unter 10 Pfund). Bestellen und Zubereitung ging schnell. Wir aßen vor Ort. Der Imbis ist recht klein und etwas älter, was jedoch nicht schlimm war. Er wirk im ersten Moment schäbig, jedoch ist es sauber (für Imbisverhältnisse) und Angenehm. An der Wand hängen Bilder aus früheren Zeiten und peppen das sonst sterile Ambiente etwas auf. Das Essen war einfach aber gut. Die Chips sind selbst gemacht. Wer ein Gourmetrestaurant erwartet ist hier falsch. Wer jedoch es einfach, schnell und gut möchte sollte hier mal vorbei schauen. Als wir dort waren, waren auch viele Einheimische da.

The fish had what i can only compare to a thick layer of wallpaper paste between the fish and batter. Once scrapped off it was much easier to taste the slighty off fish. The chips didn't fare much better. I take it they were using old fat. £20 pound down and we walked out hungry. There are far better fish and chip shops/cafe's within a hop, skip and a jump from here. You might pay a few quid extra but you can eat the food.

This isn't my closest fish and chip place but it's worth the extra ten minute walk as it's always freshly fried with generous portions.

Un salto para algunos el pescado y patatas fritas alrededor de las 3:00 pm para un rápido almuerzo tarde. El pescado no estaba lista, preparan sin embargo no tenía tiempo, así que optamos por pollo frito y patatas fritas. El pollo frito con buena pinta en el gabinete caliente y dorada y crocante. Pedimos que sea abierto y derramó en algunos sal, vinagre y salsa de cebolla. A la izquierda de la tienda y tomó mi primer bocado de un chip. Hacía calor, frescos y suaves por dentro. Tenía unas cuantas más y luego cambiar al pollo frito. Yo estaba pensando que sería bueno y no estaba equivocado. El pollo frito tenía mucho sabor a diferencia de muchas tiendas de pollo frito estos días. Fue hecha y crujiente y jugoso. fuese dorado Muy bueno el pollo y queremos volver a por más.

Easy to find when visiting Imperial War Museum. Reasonably priced menu of standard fish and chips shop fare. Food was too greasy for anyone in a party to finish.

Me he comido aquí unas cuantas veces cuando he estado en Londres con el trabajo, la comida es de primera, el lugar es limpio y ordenado, y el personal es amable. Pero las patatas fritas. . Casi tan buena como casero, uno de los mejores que he probado.

Me alojo en un hotel cerca durante la semana y encontrar yo viniendo aquí, a menudo dos o tres veces. No puedo decir suficientes cosas buenas acerca de su comida. El bacalao y las patatas fritas es excelente y su pollo frito es sangrienta! . Dada su ubicación, creo que es los precios son muy buenos (tres piezas de pollo frito por tres libras). El lugar siempre se ve limpio y el personal es amable. Lo recomendaría encarecidamente y volveremos por más yo.

Esse restaurante vende algo bem tipico inglês, que é o fish chips. Fish chips é um prato de peixe empanado com batatas. Pra quem é vegetariano,também, tem algumas opções. Pra quem é árabe, eu também vi uma plaquinha que dizia que eles tinham Halal.

We came here for lunch after arriving in London. The fish was very good! Fresh tasting, and nicely done. With that said, there is better in the area. Still, I would not hesitate to recommend this place.

This is my local chippie and I've had many a delicious bite here. The food is fresh and the chips hand cut and freshly fried. Their chicken is well worth a try. Excellent value for money and they have 5 stars for hygiene

I have been going to this fish and chips shop for the last 8-9 years. My recent visit was very disappointing as the fish portion is smaller, chips were not as good as usual and the gent behind the counter was not that I terested in us (as we were not young ladies). Very disappointed!

Visited here today for takeaway fish & chips father in law went in to order us all x3 cod & chips fairly simple order took 20 minutes to be made then when it was finally finished the man on the till forgot our mushy peas & when he was reminded he just shoved them in a bag without so much as an oops or sorry price for all of our food was £23 which is great for London! However the company can afford this because they don't pay tax by not having a card machine so be sure to have cash on you if you visit also they use halal meat. Another downside was the member of staff on duty refused to take food out for a visibly disabled visitor instead he knocked on the glass & left his food on the side to go cold so my father in law took it out for him as the staff refused to take care or their own costumers!! All in all didn't get a good vibe from this place would not want to spend my own money there also the fish & chips were quite greasy but not the worst I've had.

Cracking little fish and chip shop.The fish and chips and mushy peas were perfection.Staff were very friendly and accommodating.There was a constant stream of customers whilst we were there.This is really a model of what all fish and chips shops should aim to be.Can't wait to go back.

I lucked out with this place as I was heading for another around the corner which shall remain nameless as it was closed on Sunday and I was fuming after walking there from the Tate Modern. I stumbled over this one just a stone's throw from King George's Circus (that big monument declaring distances to Westminster etc, erected by George III) and I'm really glad I did. It's certainly the best F and C I have had this year. It beats Rock and Sole Plaice in Covent Garden, which was my usual stand fast. It's certainly top three in London of my acquaintance. We were very lucky in choosing something that had to be cooked from scratch. The Cod was tender, juicy and crisp. The chips were firm and crispy, to crunchy in turn. The service was...a little slack, but no problem. The tea was potent. The pictures on the wall of the local area were very nice. The outside area faces onto the road but not a problem in a Sunday at least. The current owners have had it for 17 years, although it was previously in the hands of the family who founded it in 1937. Their grinning faces are in the photo gallery on the walls. This is the sort of place one drives by and vows to visit, yet doesn't. But I really recommend you do. Its great.

We visited here on 13th Aug 2013. The manager and staff are extremely nice and efficient. Fishes are fresh and well prepared.
