Here for first time. Writing review on the burger because it was fantastic. Higher end of burger and fries fayre and was just what we needed. I didn’t wait to take photos of it but arrives looking delicious and then delivers on that first impression.

Stopped by numerous times for some pit stop drinks - great boozer

Booking system means you cant get a seat. No decent plant based food on the menu. Not worth visiting if you want to sit and have a pint

A proper pub. Very comfortable with friendly service and good range of drinks. Small menu of burgers and wings, we had the cheeseburger and it was very good.

Decent food, terrible service. The bar messed up our order but then refused to correct it as the kitchen was closed by 1 minute so they were not taking new orders. It wasn't a new order and our food had not all been brought out, so the kitchen had not been shut down. The barmaid was also rude and not apologetic or interested in helping us. Really disappointing as the food we did get was nice.

Best fried chicken I had in years

First time here. Nice little pub, good atmosphere and very polite staff, BUT!!! A professional has to teach the cook how to make a cheeseburger. The beef was overcooked and didn't taste good and the amount of gherkins was like.... aiming to hide the bad taste of the beef behind the sour, which unfortunately didn't work. Also the chips were over salted. For £13.50 per cheeseburger you need improvement guys.

Great pub, with a chilled vibe, selection of beers and outdoor seating. The food is from hay’s, they do beef burgers (think if a mcdonalds cheeseburger was handmade with premium ingredients), fries and their fried chicken is perfection. also recommend the gherkin sorbet which sounds weird but is not to be missed.

We visited for a couple of beers in the sun and had a great time. Beer garden was an excellent spot to soak in some rays. Food looked great but we had a reservation elsewhere. We were really intrigued by the battered cheese strings!

The best burger in town it’s really a hidden gem kinda overshadowed by the bar but if have a burger you’ll fall in love 10/10 recommend to every person on earth

This is a gem of a pub that offers tasty drinks, great service and tasty food. It came recommended and it didn't disappoint. The bar itself is interesting and the outside area is lovely in the heat. We just managed to get our order in just before the kitchen closed and the staff recommended the pickled coleslaw which was yum.

Saw these guys on insta and thought, another one jumping on the whole smash burger thing but these guys aren't no amateurs . This is straight up high quality beefy, juicy, thin patties cooked up by someone who fully understands the maillard effect and that less is definitely be more with a burger. The Korean dipping sauce is addictive as prescription meds and the cheese strings are are worth fighting someone over.

I've been in here a couple of times now. A great pub nice beer nice atmosphere. The burgers are out of this world 🌎 10/10

I could wax lyrical on both how the beers were and how the staff were , which incidentally were excellent on both counts , However this review primarily is to address a serious issue. I've eaten fried chicken , you've eaten fried chicken , I say ! We've all eaten fried chicken. But this fried chicken from Hays (I think that was their name) has taken a pleasure I thought often found and turned it to gold dust. Sublime

Great pub - when not frequented by screaming children - with tons of character. We didn't eat here, as the food menu felt slightly limited and we didn't fancy anything on it, although the food did look good.

Didn't rate the food as I didn't eat here . But it's a lovely looking pub and wasn't too busy because it's tucked away . I'll definitely re-visit when I'm next in Margate .

I’ve been to this pub a few times while in Margate and have always had a good time! Although we recently visited for the first time since having a baby and it’s worth noting that there was no baby change facility, which was disappointing.

Ok place, decent little outside area

Deke knows how to run a pub. He comes from a family of Publicans, ran the Three Kings in Clerkenwell Green for years and now runs the Rose. Beautiful interior, capable cocktails, great beers and ales, fab music and sound system and uber friendly staff. Guest kitchens come in to change the menu frequently. Large sun trap outside. There are a few good pubs in Margate now but we go out of our way for this one.

Really nice pub with really good food and a lovely, decent sized outdoor area with tables (In the sun). Unfortunately, 1 person had booked all the outside tables, bar 2. So on a lovely sunny day we didn't get to sit outside, but it luckily it's really nice inside too. Ironically, the guy who booked all the tables was over an hour late and only had 1 friend trying to occupy two tables.

Popped in for a couple of cocktails, £10 a pop but more than worth it 👌

Lovely pub, somewhat Georgian-meets-gin-palace feel. Quiet location. Good space out front. Nicey-pricey pop-up food. Shepherd Neame ales not my favourite but plenty of other choice. Clientele on the trendy/artsy side but some ‘real’ people too. Overall, convivial.

Never been to Margate before and so glad we went to this pub for lunch for my dad's birthday. The actual pub is lovely inside and has a nice beer garden. The staff are so nice and the burgers were 10/10!

A quirky pub beloved by locals. Popped in on a holiday, and had lovely experience. Staff were cheerful, customers had a good vibe, decor was interesting and it was all well priced. Good range of local and more common bevs

As pubs go I found this one decidedly 'OK'. The person who served us seemed really bored and keen to go home, but it was still early on the evening and the pub was very busy. Service was a bit grumpy, I asked about alcohol free options but they seem to be lacking. However - I did end up ordering a mocktail that was very very tasty - they just don't have any alcohol-free spirits to make mocktails with, so the drink is just juice and a mixer basically. It would be nice to be able to choose from alcohol-free gins and the like, which I would expect from quite a trendy venue in Margate. The decor in the main bar is really pretty, and this is what you typically see in photos. Because it was a busy Friday evening, we sat in 'the parlour' - which feels a lot like a side room that has been used for storage for some time and now has some tables and chairs thrown in to provide overflow seating. It's so loud! Tables and chairs are crammed together so that everyone is shouting over everyone and my husband and I couldn't actually hear one another unless we leant right in and spoke into the other's ear. I'm sure it's a good vibe if you're there for a proper night out, but as a couple with the rare opportunity to spend some time together whilst we had a babysitter, we actually wanted to cosy up and enjoy a chat - and that was impossible, so we finished our drinks quickly and left. The person who had served us was outside having a cigarette and we said thank you and goodbye, but only received a grunt in response. With so many places to go for drinks in Margate I can't see us visiting the Rose in June again, unless there's a really tempting food popup going on that we can't resist.

Lovely little pub with great decor. Friendly staff. We had the ‘Hays hot sandwhiches’ which was delicious. Have been to Margate many times and never seen this place so we’re glad we stopped by!

It was my friends birthday who had been previously and had a good experience prior so had booked for her birthday with our friends for 8pm on Saturday for dinner. When we arrived we got to the entrance and was waiting to be seated looking forward to a good evening. The bar staff avoided eye contact and finally when they acknowledged us looked up and we said we’ve booked a table for dinner. Member of staff just went ‘yeah’. So we said.. could we please be seated, and she reluctantly took us to our table. No eye contact, a big attitude made to feel extremely unwelcome. You had to go up to order drinks so we went up and returned to our table. We picked our food on the menu and then went to order our food. When we got there they said, oh by the way we’ve run out of burgers and chips. It’s a limited menu (enclosed for reference) as is and meant they all of the options we were going for were off the menu. You’d have thought they’d have told us this before. My friend was extremely upset having booked in advance and recommend the place for us to be picked for her birthday and we were faced with no food, and extremely rude staff. We finished our drinks and left. One friend used the toilet before leaving and she said only half the toilet seat was there which was extremely unusable. Avoid!

Back street pub ,friendly bar staff .Bonus they have a court yard to sit outside and enjoy the warm weather.
