We visited for the first time a couple of days ago. The staff were friendly, We had sandwiches and cakes which were lovely. I saw some of the meals and they looked very nice, especially the ham and eggs. I would highly recommend the milkshakes, too.

A group of us (six cyclists) visited the cafe on Sunday 19 May 2024. I would like to say that both the food and service was superb. Nothing was too much trouble for them and the staff were very friendly and made us truly welcome. Highly recommended.

Regular trip to here for lunch. Always served with a smile and plenty of choice on the menu. Currently have a bit of an addiction to the cheesecake! You just have to try it, especially the lemon one .

Arrived this afternoon at 3.20 and were immediately greeted with "You'll have to be gone by 4 as we close" Not the best of welcomes, we were told we couldn't sit in the main dining area and were put on a table opposite the counter littered with serviettes and time sheets. We were rushed in our choices of tea and cakes by an assistant who just wanted to go home. The cakes, which although looked appetizing were quite stale and dry most were left uneaten. However, the apple pie was nice. The tea was weak and the coffees were cold. Perhaps others we watched being turned away because "We are closing" had the lucky escape. Come on, there were five members of staff and two owners on hand, you can do better than this for £22.90p

After passing this place many times we decided to stop - how I wish we hadn’t! The menu is somewhat bizarre - you can’t order extra items if you want them nor even toast or bread and butter to go with the large breakfast! As my hub likes toast with his breakfast but was hungry we ordered the light breakfast for me - which comes with toast - and the large for him, without toast, so he ate my toast with his breakfast. His breakfast harkened back to a 1960’s greasy spoon transport cafe - soggy, as a large tinned tomato which hadn’t been drained properly, had been plonked in the middle of his plate. Really? Fresh tomatoes are not that expensive and much nicer and available all year round. (Cafes used tinned tomatoes years ago due to winter shortages of fresh) and the menu only said plum tomatoes so we assumed as tomatoes are so plentiful in the summer that they would be fresh….The eggs were slimy on the top - probably cooked on a hot plate - the mushrooms were, unusually, deep fried. The hash browns and sausage were of very inferior quality. On the plus side the beans were hot and the meal arrived in a timely manner. We were hungry and as it cost £22 we ate it but neither of us actually enjoyed it. Would I eat here again? No. Would I recommend it? Definitely not. I like my friends too much to inflict The Rose Garden Cafe on them.

My parents rave about this place and when I offered to take them out for Saturday lunch this was their first choice. It was my first visit but I am definitely a convert. We were seated with a smile even though most of the tables were busy when we arrived near the end of the Saturday lunch service. The menu looked extensive, varied enough and terrifically tempting but there were four appealing specials too. The page of salads had a heading "available in Summer", so I half-expected them to say that these were still off limits; thankfully not. We had a fair wait once we had ordered at the counter but that was no bad thing as we had plenty to talk about. My paneer salad was first class; one of the freshest and tastiest salads I have had for a long time and the side salad with Mum's beef lasagne was apparently something special too. My father hasn't had much appetite lately and didn't think that he would manage to eat much of his steak pudding - yet he barely left so much of it as a trace of gravy. A retired farmer, he is notoriously hard to please when it comes to meet on a menu but he said that the meat in this had been very good, which is praise indeed! The staff here were without exception helpful and polite and nothing seemed to be too much trouble for them. The selection of desserts and cakes looked too good not to ask for a 'cake-out' and the lemon cheesecake and triple chocolate cake were just as delicious as our mains had been. Clearly they serve plenty of 'cakeaways' and had a good supply of boxes on hand for these. Thank you to the team here. I shall be back and will bring some of my favourite people with me another time.

Having family visiting over from Australia, Steve, Tracy and their team kindly agreed to arrange a festive style table for us at The Rose Garden, complete with crackers at short notice! Although understandably they were not able to provide us with a traditional full Christmas lunch, the food was great, turkey and stuffing rolls with extras, a lovely alternative option for our veggie members followed by a choice of tasty puddings! The staff were all lovely, friendly and efficient and we will be back again soon!

After a recommendation we visited for breakfast, but sadly turned out very disappointing. Things didn’t get off to a very good start when I had to queue for ages only just after it had opened to order. We ordered 2 light breakfasts which took nearly 20 minutes to arrive. My wife had to send hers back as her hash browns were still frozen in the middle. Whoever put the plate together hadn’t drained the tinned tomatoes, so everything was soggy including the tasteless hash browns and ultra cheap sausage. Half the plate was cold and the rest boiling hot, bizarre. I also ordered a chocolate milkshake which was a very odd consistency indeed. I can only liken it to artificially flavoured foam. All in all a waste of £22 and we won’t be returning.

Not sure why this cafe (attached to the rapidly-expanding garden centre next door) has two Tripadvisor entries, but anyway: We found it to be very friendly and welcoming with decent light bites, pub-style mains and coffee/cakes. Alcohol is served from a small fridge although the selection is limited. Booking appears to be essential at lunchtimes and one can see why.

Popped in today for lunch after a visit to the really good dairy next door. Absolutely wonderful place. My husband and I were blown away by the level of service we received. Everyone in the cafe was so warm and friendly. The staff even offered to make things that weren’t on the menu for our young children, which was so kind and unexpected! Food was amazing too.

My daughter an I popped in for a cuppa and sandwich. It arrived, a plate of delicious chopped up salad, homemade coleslaw, crisps with a toasted sandwich on each plate. This was a total meal in itself and a delicious one. We shall be back. This cafe is hidden at the back of the garden centre. A well worth visit.

We were staying in Upton and visited the Old Anchor pub, where we enjoyed puddings that had been made at this establishment. On leaving the pub we decided to find the shop in order to buy puddings to take home. Delicious homemade steamed puddings are available to buy from the shop or online. The puddings are all made on site using traditional methods and are big enough for 2 people to share. Currently they are £3.60 each or three for £10. We bought 3 of course and our only difficulty was choosing from the huge range available. They freeze well so no need to eat them all at once!

Nice place to meet for drinks, wide selection of craft ales. Bar appears to be too small for the demand and this results in long queue
