A fabulous way to spend a sunday afternoon. Roast beef dinner followed by traditional pudding. Delicious! Staff very friendly and made us feel welcome. Well worth a visit and will definitely come again.

Went in for unplanned lunch. One of us had the Jacket potatoe with Chilli Con Carne, the other the Double Cheese burger with fries and Onion Rings, plus drinks. Family run business, it was definitely a locals pub, however, they were extremely helpful friendly and welcoming. I’ll return if I’m in the area again.

Excellent real ales, rotated regularly so there's always a beer for everyone. Tony, Jack and team always make you welcome, couldn't want anything else in a local.

Mid Thursday afternoon visit and more than a few customers in. Very friendly greeting on arrival. Six real ales available with a good selection of local and further afield. One went off while we were there and changed fairly quickly. Those I had were in good condition.

This is a great little pub , if your a fan of the Archers this is how I imagine the Bull to be , the beers are great along with the food , great garden for children totally safe .

Had a very warm welcome. Food was great and reasonably priced. Service was exceptional. The beer drinkers in our group were highly satisfied. A lovely visit.

four of us had lunch this afternoon. The food was excellent. The staff who served us were very attentive. Even the dog who was with us was attended too given a bowl of water and a dog biscuit. We give the pub 10/10

Amazing Sunday roast, very generous portion! Very friendly staff. Would highly recommend if you're looking for a filling lunch out!

Went for lunch in late Nov. Great menu, excellent food, roaring open fire and excellent service. The experience was made even better by seeing the selection of 80s aftershaves on offer in the gents, proper retro. Well worth a visit.

Another great meal today, it was a work lunch approx 15 of us. Lovely beer and food was amazing.

A lovely pub with outstanding food. There was 13 of us but nothing was too much for the excellent staff. The portion sizes are big and the quality is amazing. We travelled from Margate but will definitely visit again! Thank you Tony and all your staff

Had dinner here for my father in laws bday today. Food was amazing and service was fantastic. Lady serving us went above and beyond and was amazing with all the children. Will definitely be going back

Great food great service very friendly

Rather bland.. not a busy afternoon. Two chaps in charge. I ordered a medium rate burger with no cheese. What I got was a very well done burger with cheese. Lots of trimmings and coleslaw was nice. Got an apology from chap we ordered from. No excuse really only 2 other tables there and they were on dessert stage. Pretty enough pleasant surroundings and garden was well covered in heat/sun. Satisfactory I guess but could have been better.

Went for our first out of lockdown meal with friends . We were seated outside under cover and felt really safe and comfortable. Staff were welcoming and friendly and the food was great ! Even brought a bowl of water out for our dog betsie 😁 very recommended

The staff there make you so welcome

Myself and my sisters visited today for lunch. We had chicken curry, jacket potato with salad and a ploughman's ham platter, all dishes were really delicious and very generous. The staff are always friendly and very accommodating, nothing too much trouble.

I visit Halstead a couple of times a year to watch the village football team and always make sure i pop in to the Rose & Crown en route as the cask ales are always first rate and the food served here is fantastic. Landlord and staff always make you feel very welcome. I'd give this place 10 stars if i could. Wonderful pub.

Brilliant food and really friendly

This is one of those places that really needs an extra star. Called in en route back from Normandy. Fantastic welcome from Landlord. Great beers & food... In fact, one of the halves that I had, whilst it still tasted ok, landlord wasn't happy as near end of barrel, so not charged! Food was large enough portions to keep us happy & really tasty, too Really great experience all round. Definitely recommend

Good food, fine real ales, welcoming atmosphere, lovely quiet village. What more could you want? Well, reinstating the 402 bus from Bromley might be nice...

Have used this pub since the 70s and still love the warming staff welcome. The cask beer today was an excellent range as usual from Kent and further a field. Food fare also brilliant and nice to find Rabbit still on the menu. As you can guess, my wife n I, love this pub. Well worth a visit.

Proper, old fashioned country pub. Six real ales - we had the Larkin's Traditional which was perfectly kept and absolutely superb. Food looked good, free leftover roast potatoes were fantastic. A few more veggie choices on the menu and it would be five stars, no question.

Attractive flint-faced pub 2 bars both quite small. Tables a bit close together. Good range of real ales. Food is OK and reasonably priced.

Re-discovered this place recently and had a nice lunch in the garden. Will return soon hopefully.

We had our Christmas meal 10 of us on Wednesday, The starters Prawn cocktail, soup, pate and Garlic breaded mushrooms were thoroughly enjoyed by all with Roast Beef Yorkshire Puddings roast potatoes n season vegitables, or roasted Turkey stuffing roast potatoes n season vegitables, cranberry sauce with various desserts Fresh Coffee/ tea mince meat pies all-round yummy Would Really Recommend 🎅🎅🎅🎅

Just stopped in on the way past. Nice cosy pub, family friendly with a small play area in the garden. If you like a nice smooth ale, try the Rudgate Ruby Mild. (Would of been 5 stars if it was not for the appalling language heard throughout the bar by the other guests, with children present. Bar staff said nothing - very disappointing)

Traditional village pub. Great range of 6 real ales, one permanent, the others whatever catches the landlord's fancy. Friendly staff and locals. What's not to like?

Race election of beers and good sir

Garden is nice with good play equipment for kids. Went at lunch time and it was fairly empty, but not too empty. Bar food not cheap but edible: ploughmans was a good chunk of good cheddar, a standard baguette, a picked onion, coleslaw, a bit of salad, no chutney, ok but lacking imagination, pounds 7.50.
